Hi - I couldn’t find a thread but just wondered if anyone else was expecting in 2026 post ivf? I’m due end of Feb so just wanting any similar ladies to chat with!

@SamVan Lappage is the absolute worst (or was before I finally got pregnant anyway). Just so fundamentally unfair… like a lot of things in life sadly. I would like 2 children but currently focusing on hopefully getting this one! I had already settled on 2 before getting pregnant but given how much I am hating pregnancy so far there is no way in hell I would do it more than twice… the idea of even once again is bad enough!

@FlatWhiteAnyone Nice to hear from you again! I totally get the need to step away sometimes. So glad to hear all is going well with you so far. I am two weeks behind you at 10 today. It feels nice to finally be in double digits!

Orangewillow · 03/10/2025 13:41

We would like 2 kids, that was our plan before having losses and fertility issues and still is, just older than had planned to be at this stage! I'd never really considered a 3rd anyway but I think given our first (all being well) will be born more than 2 years later than we'd hoped to have our first child, 2 sounds more realistic! The thought of going through the embryo transfer process and first trimester again isn't super appealing mind you, but will see how I fare with the rest of it!!

lemonwrighty · 03/10/2025 14:12

@FlatWhiteAnyone I told work at 12 weeks, even though I’m office based, I also do a lot of driving and site visits for work so they did an immediate risk assessment for me, my work load and site visits reduced a lot and I can also WFH if I don’t have any appointments, they’ve been really good since they found out.

@SamVan we never wanted any initially, then we got married then struggled to conceive, so we would be happy with one. We do have another top grade embryo on ice so we will try again if it doesn’t happen naturally, seems a waste of effort to not try the last and final embryo but if that doesn’t work then we’re fine with that.

FlatWhiteAnyone · 03/10/2025 14:22

Thank you @SamVan! Big gap wasn’t planned but here we are. No real concerns to start telling at work, only that it will open talks and how, why etc. People didn’t know we struggled with losses for years.
@magpie234happy to hear all good with you too! Are you planning to do a NIPT test? We did and apart from good results they told us we are having a boy! 🥰 no guessing on a scan anymore 😅
We always wanted and planned 3 kids, it took us a lot of struggle and loss, and science, but really happy on this chance to complete the dream xx

FlatWhiteAnyone · 03/10/2025 14:27

@lemonwrightythank you, gives me courage to tell them next week xx

magpie234 · 03/10/2025 15:22

@FlatWhiteAnyone Ohhhh huge congrats! That is so exciting. I hope all is good with me but last scan was at 8 weeks so am starting to feel nervous again. So anxious for the trisomies screening too. On the fence about an NIPT as is so expensive and we would only get the results about 1.5 weeks before the NHS one. So atm am thinking will hold out. Did they separate the screening results and the sex reveal in your letter? I would want to see them separately - as in find out all is hopefully OK first then have the sex reveal as a sort of reward if that makes sense! This is another reason why I think I might just wait till after the scary anomaly scan to ask unless it makes itself clearly known on an earlier one!

Still no girl babies in this group right? I am getting girl vibes for me but not sure why. I always thought I would be a boy mum but now am actually preg I feel differently! Either would be dreamy.

FlatWhiteAnyone · 03/10/2025 15:53

@magpie234 I am not in the UK. Here you select the level of genetic testing (like trisomy only, additional euploidy and then next very expensive for special cases), then you select if you want to know sex or not. The dr dannot tel you the sex before the 12w, so people don’t abort. As I had mine after 10w, she called me telling the results, then was like hmmmm I know you won’t abort after what you went through..so I wll hint it is opposite of you 😆 I was willing to wait till 12w

SamVan · 03/10/2025 17:07

@magpie234 totally agree - envy isn't something I really suffered from before but when it comes to pregnancy I definitely felt it! I still find pregnancy related things annoying despite being pregnant myself.

@Orangewillow 2 sounds like what most are after on here. We also took about 2 years extra to get a child.. so I'm not sure timing wise how many we can have if this pace continues!

@lemonwrighty congrats on your other highly graded embryo! Is it tested? We have a few embryos left too but none are euploid (some mosaics). It took us 12 tested embryos to get one euploid.

@FlatWhiteAnyone 3 is really good going! Congratulations on finally getting to your ideal family.

Strawberrryfields · 03/10/2025 19:03

@SamVan would’ve loved 3, maybe even 4! But if this pregnancy works out ill
be over the moon with two. The whole of my 30s has been about ttc, ivf, pregnancy, losses, ££££ and just hope I’m lucky enough to put this chapter behind me and spend my time actually enjoying the life I’ve tried so hard for. 🫠

lemonwrighty · 03/10/2025 19:15

@SamVan No we decided not to test because I’ve got low AMH so I knew my numbers would be low and after egg collection I only ended up with the 2 embryos.

lemons44 · 03/10/2025 21:23

@magpie234 I had NIPT test in the UK and my gender results were on the same page. Here is an example of what the test results look like: https://yourgenehealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Yourgene-Health_IONA_Nx_Sample_Screening-Report.pdf

depending where you get it done though they can probably screen it for you. With ours we got an email from the place we bought the test at to say your results are all fine, see the attached which also includes the gender. So then we saved the report for when we both were ready for the gender surprise.

lemons44 · 03/10/2025 21:24

Btw they are not my results, just an example copy on the labs website to show you how they look when you get them

lemons44 · 03/10/2025 21:30

@SamVan It’s taken us about 4 years to get to this point of being pregnant with number 1. We have one blast in the freezer. We looked a lot at adoption and I think we would consider adopting a second child. Just so grateful to be pregnant with 1. I really didn’t think it would ever happen for us after so long. Feels like a miracle.

SamVan · 04/10/2025 09:44

@Strawberrryfields @lemons44 it’s been such a long journey for both of you. What an achievement to finally be this far although I know the anxiety never ends. The one thing I try to remind myself is even though other people had it easier they weren’t getting our babies. When we see our little bubbas it’ll all be worth it and we’ll be so much more grateful for them after all the pain, worry, time and £££.

lemons44 · 06/10/2025 12:23

That’s a nice way of looking at it @SamVan! Have I remembered correctly that you also had 6 transfers?

How is everyone doing?

We had our 16 week midwife appointment today and heard baby’s heartbeat so that was really special.

i feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of appointments I have coming through. I never knew there were so many. I have appointments with the community midwife in a children’s centre (every 3 weeks from I think 25 weeks?), a hospital consultation appointment (no idea what that’s for), obviously the 20 week scan, and some appointments at the hospital antenatal clinic. Is this the same for everyone else? I think I may have some additional ones as I need the anti-d injections and a diabetes test because my dad has diabetes.

magpie234 · 06/10/2025 12:53

@lemons44 Congrats on hearing the heartbeat. That must be so special. I feel the same about the appointments and think will have a similar amount but not got them all through yet. I have also been invited to a hospital consultation which I think is just because it is an ivf pregnancy and they count that as higher risk for some reason. I am really trying to take things a day/week at a time so as not to feel totally out of my depth!

@SamVan That is absolutely true. I used to remind myself of that when being deluged by pregnancy announcements. Like yes I am envious of the pregnancy but it is our baby we want not theirs. I think this is why I have always found it easier once a friend actually has their baby because I can see it is theirs. When they are pregnant I can project my own desire and longing more easily onto them which is harder.

confused2025 · 06/10/2025 14:36

@magpie234 I think this is because they have a preference for IVF babies to be born between week 38 and 40 and prefer not to go over term. I don’t have any appointments now until November. Remember to collect your MatB1 form for work - I know in NI this is just over 20 weeks you can collect
hope everyone is doing ok

lemons44 · 06/10/2025 15:36

Thanks @magpie234ghats a good point actually about it being an IVF pregnancy

lemons44 · 06/10/2025 15:38

Can I please ask a TMI post?! 😩🙈 is anybody else still gettin yellow discharge in the 2nd tri? I have really worried myself about it by going down a google rabbit hole. I had a swab test that came back clear and I mentioned it to the midwife and she didn’t seem bothered, however I’ve got into a flap.

i have made a separate post to ask people that has a picture which I didn’t wanna post on here as I know it’s serious TMI! I am just freaking out that it’s amniotic fluid even thought I knows that probably my anxiety talking

confused2025 · 06/10/2025 15:57

@lemons44 I’ve had this for most of my 21 weeks and my urine has been tested and all good. I also bought some urine test strips on Amazon so I test every day to make sure all is ok. Definitely mention it to your midwife but I think you should be ok and think it’s relatively common x

lemonwrighty · 06/10/2025 16:47

@lemons44 I had my glucose test done just before 16 weeks, they take a blood test before then give you a really sweet and thick drink which made me gag a bit but it’s really not that bad, then wait 2 hours then come back and take another blood test. In the 2 hours we went to mamas and papas and had a little shop 😂 I also have appointments booked every 4 weeks with the hospital, this is midwife appointments and consultants. I had 3 appointments come in around my 16 weeks which were a day after each other which was ridiculous because it was at the same hospital so I called up asking if they can all be on the same day and they changed it all for me. I’ve got the same 3 appointment for my 20/21 week appointment as well as having my whooping cough vaccine done which I’m not looking forward to.

Orangewillow · 06/10/2025 18:21

@lemons44 I have a similar number of upcoming appointments, also need anti-d and I've got consultant appointments for my (minor) thyroid issue.

Just had my 20 week scan, I'm just over 21 weeks but my hospital likes to do them a bit later and all was good! I was so nervous. Baby quite big and has a massive head - the sonographer mentioned that ivf babies are often on the bigger side, anyone else been told this? V relieved to have it over

Also for my whooping cough jab, we briefly painful but not bad and my arm doesn't hurt now. Had flu jab on sat and getting covid booster soon, so it's all go on the jabs for me!

Timetotryagain · 07/10/2025 05:16

Sorry guys been a bit M.I.A , been struggling with anxiety if i am honest!

Had a 16 week scwn and everything looks good its just hard to believe isnt it when you have had years of disappointment etc!

I did have a nurse say something along the lines of "the normal way" referring to natural conception vs ivf, which rubbed me up the wrong way a bit. You wouldnt say that to peoppe receiving any other medical treatment

SamVan · 07/10/2025 09:44

@lemons44 Yep - 6 transfers, 7 embryos, 4 collections. I'm tired!! haha. I have at least two baby related appointments a week but that's how I like it tbh. It feels normal after such a long time doing back to back IVF.

@magpie234 I'm exactly the same! I found pregnant people sooooo much harder than kids. Once they were born i definitely didn't want to take their child home, and it looked hard as hell, so I got over it.

@Timetotryagain That's not a nice way for the nurse to put it. You would expect better from medical professionals but I think a lot of the older generation have a general mistrust of IVF. I'm keeping the fact that we did IVF private from my family for that reason. I don't need random comments on the way we had our baby. It's none of their business.

We learnt yesterday that we are having a girl
