@lemons44my OH decided he wanted to know and I was thinking it might be better to be a surprise but I have a strong feeling it’s a boy (he thinks it’s a girl) but all I can ask for is that everything is looking good and agreed, think it’s maybe a sign. Little baby was very moved and went into a curled position. Awwhh but it will make you smile when you look back. Planning on having a very lazy day now. Hope you have a lovely weekend x

SamVan · 26/09/2025 10:56

@Timetotryagain @Orangewillow @worldwidetravel2017 @lemons44 @confused2025 Thank you ! I feel better about my tummy knowing it's not that uncommon. I have quite a small frame and often look pregnant after meals so maybe it's just how my body is.

@lemons44 I'm currently on one progesterone pessary a day (400mg) my obstetrician has suggested i wean off more slowly so I'll go to 200 at 12 weeks and then 200 alternate day until 14 weeks. You're right that might be contributing to it.

@confused2025 Glad your scan turned out well!! I think there's also a blood test you can do by post to check the gender if you want to know. It is so cute seeing them move around. Mine was bouncing off from one side of the gestational sac and flying to the other side during the scan yesterday. I think he'll be an active one.

lemons44 · 26/09/2025 17:33

I can’t remember who said it but did someone say they had an early anomaly scan before the 20week one? I didn’t know if this was possible

Timetotryagain · 26/09/2025 17:55

@lemons44 me and @Orangewillow are having them due to issues in previous pregnancies i think! But its only in those exceptional circumstances i think

@confused2025 amazing news all was well with baby - my vote is girl for you no idea why haha

magpie234 · 26/09/2025 18:13

Glad everything seems to be going well! I am 9 weeks today and still in total disbelief at how slowly it is possible for time to go. Really fed up with having no appetite or energy and constant queasiness despite meds. Hoping I am at the peak of this now and it will get slowly better soon. Making it hard to feel any kind of excitement at the moment. Just all very joyless! Starting to get anxious for the screening tests too… unsure whether to pay big bucks to do them a bit early or wait for the NHS one I have at 13 weeks.

Yeah exactly, i asked for my 20 week scan to be moved earlier (they booked me in for nearly 22 weeks) and said I was v anxious about this due to previous tfmr, and they offered me a 16 week early anomaly which I wasn't expecting. I don't think they do a lot of them, obv it'll vary, but my friend who is pregnant with similar timings to me asked for one and didn't get it (she had a miscarriage a few years ago but a living child since then)

confused2025 · 26/09/2025 20:00

Thanks @SamVanand @Timetotryagaineveryone else thinks so too ☺️. @magpie234hang on in there. It does get better. I’m feeling relatively good touch wood heading into 20 weeks on Sunday. Up until 14/15 weeks I found tough

Strawberrryfields · 27/09/2025 09:14

Sorry you’re still feeling rubbish @magpie234, week 9 can apparently be the peak for a lot of people and hopefully gets gradually better from then 🤞 I felt marginally better at 8wks and panicked and then week 9 hit me like a tonne of bricks. A few weeks on now and have the odd iffy day but mostly feeling normal (which brings its own worries!)

If you can afford the tests and it’s making you anxious maybe just go for it. I waited and in hindsight probably should’ve got a private nipt as was super anxious too.
Hope you’re feeling more like yourself soon

SamVan · 29/09/2025 11:29

I had such a scare over the weekend. I had a big gush of fluid tinged with blood (pink) on saturday. I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. The EPU was closed but thankfully my obstetrician came down to see me and give me a scan within the hour. The baby was fine but we are monitoring it at the moment. I had a scan on Sunday and today as well and so far so good but I'm still spotting at the moment. Really praying it's nothing and all is fine with my baby. I am so close to the 12 week mark when i thought I'd be over the worst of it but this new event has really thrown me.

Strawberrryfields · 29/09/2025 12:03

@SamVan Oh I’m so sorry that happened must’ve been so scary. Good that you’ve been quickly scanned and baby seems to be doing well still. Did they test it to check if it was amniotic fluid? Could it have been watery discharge? Apparently it can be excessive in pregnancy for some people with all the hormones flying around. I noticed some changes when I started reducing my meds around 12 weeks.

Really hope things settled down over the next few days 🤞 Sending positive vibes that everything is ok 🤍

confused2025 · 29/09/2025 13:16

@SamVan I can imagine you were beside yourself. Good to hear the scans went well. It sounds like you have a nice consultant as think a lot of them wouldn’t bother. Hope you’re resting x

SamVan · 29/09/2025 17:06

@Strawberrryfields No they didn't because it was no longer leaking by the time I saw someone. Also they said if there's blood the ph testers they use are likely to give a false positive. I really hope it's watery discharge! They did suggest that (or that I had peed myself) but it doesn't quite explain the blood. My progesterone has been increased. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts <3

@confused2025 Thank you! Yes, I have stopped going to the gym or doing anything too active. Yes my consultant is the best, so grateful for her!

magpie234 · 30/09/2025 10:15

@SamVan Oh my goodness you poor thing. So scary! Glad your OB sounds like such a babe checking you out so quickly. Keeping everything crossed all is OK and it was just some freak rush of discharge maybe mixed with some cervical irritation or something! Why do our bodies have to be quite so chaotic? Constant (often nasty!) surprises!

@confused2025 @Strawberrryfields Thanks for the support girls. Turning 10 (lol) on Friday so hoping the corner is in sight if not the light at the end of the tunnel just yet. Today I am totally exhausted - probably the most out of it yet. I just so hope my 2nd trimester is a hell of a lot better than my 1st has been as it is hard to feel much in the way of excitement when in constant survival mode. Plus I would like some semblance of my life back! Literally just been existing this past month.

Timetotryagain · 30/09/2025 12:17

@SamVan thats so scary so sorry you had to go through that :( glad baby is okay though 💙💙

I am 15 weeks now and have a 16 week appointment next week. Did they listen to th heartbeat at 16 week midwives appointment for those who are further along? Also i am pretty sure i am feeling movement 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

SamVan · 30/09/2025 17:21

@magpie234 and @Timetotryagain Thanks both! I'm still bleeding but it's slowed down now. Yes my OB is the best - very grateful for her for coming in on a weekend or I'd have had a very stressful wait for a scan. I was already on the verge of a break down by the time we got to A&E and the triage nurse was totally unsympathetic just said they can't do anything for me except pain killers.

confused2025 · 30/09/2025 17:42

@Timetotryagain for my 16 week they listen to the heart beat and it’s a nice reassurance before the scan at 19/20. Are you finding time flying by?
@SamVan how are you feeling now?

lemonwrighty · 01/10/2025 11:10

@SamVan im so sorry you’ve had such a terrible few days. Such a scare when it’s anything blood related but I’m so glad your consultant was on hand to see you and to give you a bit of reassurance

@Timetotryagain on our 16 weeks we got to listen to heartbeat, was so lovely to hear and they let us record it so I listen to it nearly everyday as a little reminder of how far along I’ve come

Is anyone suffering from back and rib pains? Back pain probably where the bra line sits and rib pains just under my boobs. I’ll be 20 weeks on Friday and my goodness I’m so sore, the worst thing about it is that it is not a constant pain so I’ll be uncomfortable with back pain one moment then I’ll be absolutely fine the next, then I’ll have rib pains later on, there’s no understanding what the hells going on. Ughh I absolutely love this baby but my goodness get out already 😂 I’m hoping it’s just a “phase” and i’ll be fine in the next few weeks.

confused2025 · 01/10/2025 11:20

@lemonwrighty have you switched to maternity bras yet? I found this made a big difference for me as had this pain before I switched over

lemonwrighty · 01/10/2025 11:24

@confused2025 it’s not officially labelled maternity bras but I’ve been wearing non wired and non padded bras since starting IVF, I’m happy to try anything if it works though. Which ones did you go for?

confused2025 · 01/10/2025 11:38

I got some jojo mamma Bebe ones from next website and they are so comfy. I bought next own brand ones too but they’re not as comfy

SamVan · 01/10/2025 11:46

@lemonwrighty @confused2025 Thank you! I feel better. I am still spotting but it's dark now so I hope we are at the tail end of it! Looking forward to my 12+1 NT scan tomorrow. In terms of bras I like the sloggi wireless bras - they are so comfortable!

lemonwrighty · 01/10/2025 12:20

@confused2025 @SamVan thank you, I’ll have a look at both. Hopefully it makes a difference.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow, glad you’re feeling a bit better.

Strawberrryfields · 01/10/2025 19:45

Good luck for your scan @SamVan glar to hear things have settled down and you’re feeling better

magpie234 · 01/10/2025 21:06

@SamVan Good luck for tomorrow. Shall be thinking of you.

@lemonwrighty Not experienced these gnarly-sounding pains yet but also need some new bras as I am busting out of mine! So let me know if you find a gem - and thanks everyone else for the recs! Really I need to go and get measured again but presumably they are still growing… and I also have no energy for shopping rn!

lemonwrighty · 01/10/2025 22:00

@magpie234 fingers crossed you don’t experience it because it’s so uncomfortable. You can’t get comfy no matter if you’re sat down, stood up, sometimes even laying down is uncomfortable but it does help with the pressure a bit.
