BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@PrincessofLiechtenstein I feel like my pregnancy has gone so fast but also like I’ve been pregnant forever if that makes sense!

Absolute perfect sense! And when you add in all the time trying to get pregnant…

Lets just say we will all well deserve a glass of wine or two this Christmas!

Hi everyone,

It’s my last day at work tomorrow - feels like everything is getting very real. Like we’ve been climbing a mountain where we could never see the summit but then suddenly it’s here…

Have a health visitor Monday and then final 36 week scan on Wednesday. Baby very wiggly and stretchy…

I can’t believe we are almost here….AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Hope everyone is well. Xx

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 04/11/2025 09:03

Hope everyone’s had a fun Halloween weekend! I also had my last scan last week. Hope yours goes well tomorrow @LincolnshireHollyhock. Baby was not cooperating on mine, kept wriggling out of the way!

I finish work on Thursday. Final push before the final push! 😅

I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and I have my midwife birth plan appointment, then consultant Friday then possibly last scan Monday! She’s dropped from 11 to 10 % and last time the consultant said 10 or below he would induce between 37-38 weeks so just waiting to find out for sure now!

anyone else been getting tons of Braxton hicks now? Feels like period pains and weird twinges lol. Also she kicks so hard now it actually makes me jump sometimes!

How you getting on?

we had a scan yesterday and femur is still measuring a bit smaller - they don’t seem overly concerned although we now have another scan at 38 weeks… not sure what to think.

How is everyone else doing?

captainsmal · 06/11/2025 19:26

@LincolnshireHollyhock I’m still plodding along, got consultant in the morning but I expect he’ll just say wait for the scan Monday! Mine are every two weeks too, apparently that’s the standard when they’re checking growth so I wouldn’t worry too much, I got worried too when they told me my scan was okay but then got a letter for another scan immediately lol

Is your little one measuring on the smaller size? 37 weeks is full term which seemed impossible a year ago didn’t it?

captainsmal · 06/11/2025 20:09

@LincolnshireHollyhock yeah she’s currently the 10th percentile but in the last two week gap she dropped from 11 to 10 so basically if she’s under 10 Monday they said they’ll induce at 37-38 weeks which is next week! I know right, this time last year we had just sent off for our IVF funding and I never expected to be having a baby a year later!

It’s good they are keeping a close eye on things - sounds like you are being looked after.

We put a little blanket under the Xmas tree last year and had really hoped the IVF would work.

captainsmal · 06/11/2025 20:34

@LincolnshireHollyhock aww that’s so cool! I never heard of the Xmas blanket thing until this year otherwise I would’ve done it too

Ivf4203 · 08/11/2025 17:15

Nice to hear all of your updates and wishing you all the best now in the final stretch of pregnancy! @LincolnshireHollyhock what was your baby’s femur length if you don’t mind me asking? Mine at 28 weeks was slightly behind compared to head and abdomen circumference too, but like your doctor mine didn’t seem concerned. She said could be genes though I slightly doubt it cause myself and husband are quite tall. Next scan is at 36 weeks but tempted to get one privately when I’m 32 weeks!

Xwx1010 · 12/11/2025 01:06

Sorry for late update!

Baby arrived safely by planned C-section 5/11 - we had a baby girl and considering she was meant to be on the 10th centile she was on the 89th when born!
I had severe itching (mainly on my face which was very red by the end of the day from the c-section meds and i was taking piriton for the duration of hospital stay.

Pain wise worst part was the GA before the spinal but very manageable (C-section recovery is worse, especially day 3!)

The hospital: surgeons, midwives, nurses etc were all wonderful and I couldn’t fault them at any point, id do it all again tomorrow no hesitation - I actually loved the whole day.

The day before delivery I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so I had the blood sugar issue for her at delivery. She had formula and colostrum and fed well during the night so luckily she didn’t end up on the GS pathway.

I felt good in hospital, pain levels were fine and I was discharged 22hrs after birth.
when I got home that day I felt more tender which peaked day 3 - paracetamol and ibuprofen was NOT enough. I had Dihydrocodeine which JUST about managed it. I’ve been feeling much better since day 3 and have been up on my feet and looking after baby / house throughout. Thank god for partner helping mind, I could not have looked after baby alone.

Still in disbelief I have my baby after years of hell but the feeling I have now I’d do every single one of those days again tomorrow. It’s truly the best feeling in the world.

list of things I have found essential!:
-FridaMom Boyshort Disposable Postpartum Underwear
-nightie for catheta access
-babygo compression socks (hospital ones are white and last 2 mins).
-aloe Vera gel and piriton for itching
-peppermint ibs capsules for trapped wind (take laxatives every day until you go).
-Snacks for hospital
-MAM feel good glass bottles, extra slow teat
-nuby uv steriliser
-BIBS anatomical soothers
-loads of plain vests and zip sleep suits (I had newborn size but things were tight with her being other end of centile!! So have a good selection of diff sized clothing!

Hospital did have pads, disposable underwear, formula and selection of teats, and pain relief but good to have your own of course.

wishing the rest of you lots of love for your births and recovery 🤍

xx

Congrats @Xwx1010 !!! I’m so, so happy for you. What a journey it has been but here you are now after all the challenges — a mummy! I hope you’re recovering well and enjoying the newborn bubble with the little one xx

How is everyone?

captainsmal · 16/11/2025 23:21

@LincolnshireHollyhock I’m good thanks. So after being told for ages I would have to be induced at 37 weeks for a small baby, I went for one final scan at 36+5 and she had a massive growth spurt from 9 to 22nd percentile! So now I get to go to 40 and be induced on my due date if she doesn’t come by then. I’m almost 38 weeks so just waiting now, checking every time I go for a wee for any signs etc and getting a lot of braxtons now but I don’t feel like she’s dropped yet so I’m not sure if she’ll come soon or not! How about you?

Got final scan Wednesday and the main concern at the moment is the size of the femur. Hoping the little one has had a growth spurt still!

Glad your bubba has had a growth spurt and you doing okay - I’m getting Braxton lots also. Started freezing some colostrum too which has been great.

I feel like the baby is starting to push deeper down towards my pelvis last few days… we are so close!!!

captainsmal · 17/11/2025 10:07

@LincolnshireHollyhock I haven’t had any colostrum yet and I’ve tried a few times to hand express and nothing 😮‍💨 my bump hasn’t dropped yet either. I saw a meme the other day saying the last couple of weeks of pregnancy is like the same as the 2ww again, constant symptom spotting for signs of labour now instead of signs of pregnancy lol! So true 😂

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 17/11/2025 11:46

That’s good news @captainsmal glad they will let you go longer.

I found this video on colostrum harvesting most helpful, I’ve managed to get quite a lot using the press back technique they demonstrate. I do find it difficult to get it in the bloody syringe though!

No real sign of mine making a break for it. And I am throughly sick of eating bloody dates!

@PrincessofLiechtenstein my mum said she never got any leakage or anything until after we were all born so I assume maybe I’m the same cos I’ve tried all those techniques lol. My boobs have been killing me my entire pregnancy so I assume stuff is happening behind the scenes 😅
oh yeah I’m on the dates too! 6 a day haha

We have the final scan today and then seeing the consultant after to see if this smaller femur is going to push anything forward, in terms of timeline.

38 weeks tomorrow and I just can’t get over where the time has gone. I can feel the little one more now - including hiccups!

How are things your end? Have you done your birth plan?
