IVF April 2025

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

@Timetotryagain wow that’s an amazing rate. Did you freeze the ones you didn’t use?
what did you do which helped with making them into blasts. Were you taking any meds/vitamins etc?

@lovelivelaugh64 i have them all frozen at the moment as we are doing pgt testing.
Nothinf special really, I took ubiquinol (100mg a day) for 2 months before and no alcohol atall and also took pregnacare conception for 2 months before too. But i think every cycle is different and often its just what happens in that month

@Timetotryagainthat’s amazing. If this ivf round is unsuccessful then I am thinking of taking a 3 month break in which I will prioritise my vitamin intake & healthy lifestyle and try again.

At the moment I am so sore. Extremely sore. And my stomach is swollen and bruised. Unable to do normal day to day activities, not sure if this is normal?

I am still devastated at the outcome we’ve had but reading some of your stories has given me hope, I do hope im part of the lucky group. It’s unfortunate all that we have to go through just to have a baby. And others without trying have babies left, right and centre.

@lovelivelaugh64 did they mention the ohss risk to you? I was mildly bloated but honestly felt fine. If you are reslly sore it could be ohss and the clinic would want to know i think sometimes they can give medication to help

@Timetotryagain yes they did mention it. I am still very sore and it is day 3 today. I am going to give them a call. Dreading tomorrow’s call from the clinic.

@worldwidetravel2017 I feel you completely on this. Had a big cry yesterday with my husband about it all. How others have it so easy, and we have to go through this, & despite having gone through the needles, the waiting, the egg collection, it may be that were left with nothing. Im trying to console myself, but im hurting inside. We haven’t shared we’re doing ivf with anyone so there’s no support system around either.

totally nervous as today! It’s my day 5 so hopefully transferring today but now I’m paranoid that all the embryos have arrested. Going into a bit of a spiral. And thinking that this will never happen for me which is an overreaction!! Why is this so hard?

@Twofromanotherkind how many embryos did you have on day 1, day 3 & day 5?
do they call on transfer day?
you will be absolutely fine, I am sure they will make it. This 5 day wait is the worst

Had 14 eggs collected, 10 which fertilised normally and on day 3 I was down to 6 decent embryos. I’m thinking no news is good news so if they don’t phone before I go in at 11am it’s all good 🤞🏻

Im very self aware so whilst my friends know we are doing ivf - i do kinda hide myself away when im grumpy / extra emosh

I'm still in limbo waiting to start. My period isn't the most regular but it's 6 days late at this point and still no sign (defo not pregnant!). Getting fed up now as just want to get started. Plus it's annoying not knowing when I need to be available for and can't make any real plans for the Easter break. Really struggling at the moment with everyone around me pregnant/with newborns as well so feeling very isolated and lonely 😭

@lovelivelaugh64 Good luck for your day 3 news, fingers crossed for some good news for you. And @Twofromanotherkind it definitely sounds like you'll have something to transfer today - good luck!!

@Alexm06 how many cells were your embryos on, on day 3?

Hi all. I’ve got a day 3 update and could do with hearing some of your stories when it got to this stage. Out of the 3 fertilised embryos. 1 has arrested, which means we still have 2. However, one of the embryos is dividing irregularly however is on cell 6 which is where it should be. The second embryo is dividing how it should but is a cell behind so it’s on cell 5 instead of cell 6. Have any of you had similar outcomes to this? What was the final outcome? They are still watching them till day 5 which is Wednesday.

@lovelivelaugh64 on my day 3, 5 were were they expected them to be and then 2 were less than 6 cells. And then by day 5, one of the less than 6 cells one had caught up and formed a blast (along with the 5 that were doing what they should at day 3) Hopefully yours catches up ♥️♥️♥️

@FancyGoose ahhh the waiting is so annoying! Mine was late on my treatment cycle too! So annoying when we desperately want it to arrive haha

@worldwidetravel2017 yep its so draining the whole IVF process! Is that counselling with the fertility clinic or seperate? I know our clinic said there was counselling availabke

It’s so annoying I remember waiting for my period to start I found it one of the hardest parts of the e process actually. Fingers crossed it’ll come soon. The not being able to plan is really hard

@Miraclemuma03 & @thehype sending lots of love, the whole process is unfair but not getting to transfer must be truly heart breaking, you are both incredibly strong. Look after yourself and remember us ladies are all here for you xx

@thehype we went from 21 eggs to 1 poor embryo last year, my partner had a varicocele embellishment in September, took impyl every day and stopped drinking, I went to the gym, took folic acid, viatmin D and COQ-10 daily. We had a much better fertilisation rate this time but it's hard to say what they changing factor was, or if it was just luck.

@Alexm06 I hope your little emb-baby sticks!! When is test date?

@Timetotryagain yes mine was! I also felt it lasted a lot longer than usual, I'd say I've only just really stopped bleeding after 7 days

@lovelivelaugh64 everything crossed you for you! The waiting game is like torture, I hope your 2 make it to day 5, there is every chance!

@FancyGoose my period was soo late too before starting this time!! Typical. Hope AF shows soon. It's the loneliest feeling in the world. But you have all us ladies here for you
