Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

No later fertilisation over night unfortunately. This cycle was a failed cycle. Hubby and I are starting in supplements. Iv been prescribed one through my clinic. I pick it up on Wednesday but I don't rememeber what's it's called but definitely wasn't cheap.

Sorry to hear
Sending all the luck 4 the next time

I'm sorry about your fertilisation failure. I have just been through the same thing. It's completely devastating. But welcome and hopefully your next cycle comes with positive news..

So sorry to hear you've just been through it too. It's absolutely devastating and feels so cruel to be out of the running so early on in the process. Have they offered any explanation as to why it might have happened? We were told it was exceptionally rare and even more so with ICSI (which is what we had). The clinic did a really thorough review but the conclusion was basically 'we have no idea what happened.' It was our last NHS funded round as well so that was a bitter pill to swallow.

Miraclemuma03 · 11/04/2025 08:20

@FancyGoose we also did icsi and still complete failure. My doctor seems to think it was because we left it so long inbetween treatment and we needed to "flush" out the no good eggs. But he also said it's not an every day occurrence to collect the amount of eggs we collected and not walk away with atleast one viable embryo to transfer. We got 7 eggs.

Hmm I'm no medical expert but that doesn't sound like a legitimate explanation to me. I've never been told that you can't leave too much of a gap or that you need to flush out bad eggs. I would ask to speak to the medical director/whoever runs the clinic and ask for a thorough review. Ours looked at whether there was similar experiences in other couples that day (which could indicate something wrong in the lab), whether other people on the same injections had ever experienced similar (which would indicate the stims protocol is not maturing the eggs enough or damaging the quality), as well as considering whether there was user error from the embryologist. While we didn't get answers, it did reassure me to know it was being taken seriously and the review involved all their senior staff (nurses, embryologists, consultants, medical director) and was explained to us in detail. Sounds like your clinic might be fobbing you off a bit. I also know someone else it happened to, with donor eggs, and their clinic admitted something went wrong and donated some extra eggs for free to her as a result. Obviously not the same situation but proves it can be the fault of the clinic.

worldwidetravel2017 · 11/04/2025 09:33

Wellman max is a good supplement fof your OH

Fertility clinic recommended that to my partner last summer

( reason we are having ivf is me not him but those tablets are gd )

worldwidetravel2017 · 11/04/2025 09:34

Its so unfair and frustrating how we all ' do IVF ' for ' a chance '

I injected myself today tho - so proud of that - partner nornally does it

worldwidetravel2017 · 11/04/2025 09:34

Yes I did this on my cycle

Alexm06 · 11/04/2025 11:57

@Miraclemuma03im so sorry! It’s such a tough process. I also don’t really have anyone to talk to apart from my partner. It can be such a lonely journey.

@lovelivelaugh64@ClaireBear101good luck today on you’re collection and transfer today!

I’ve just been waiting for tomorrow to come. It’s hard not having a day 3 update so I have no idea how the 3 fertilised ones are doing. My transfer is at 8.30 so they said they would call tomorrow between 7.30 and 8 if they don’t have any to transfer. Feel like I won’t sleep well tonight haha

Other meriofert is at room temp

How are u meant to know whats 4 when ?

( also got the green and yellow needles etc etc )

My clinic told me mine didn’t need to go in fridge. Maybe give your clinic a call and double check with them.

The waiting round is awful isn’t it. It drove me insane not nothing what was happening and how our embryos were doing. We have 1 this round which is now frozen 🥹
wishing you the best of luck. 🤞🏼

Chickenqueen · 11/04/2025 14:06

Hi! Hope its not too late to join? I am going to start prepping for a FET this week. Already had one failed round with very low fertilisation which ended with no embryos. Managed to get three the second time round. I am doing IVF for genetic reasons, to screen out a disease.
@Miraclemuma03 so sorry to hear your news, its completely devastating to go through the egg collection and have nothing to show for it. May I suggest you speak to your consultant about adding calcium ionophore? It really improved our fertilisation rate the second time round, helps strengthen the embryos.

Its fine
Spoke to them
Room temp ones are the single use ones.

Fridge ones = multi dose / pen

Oh hi! So rare to meet a fellow PGT-Mer. Ah the wait was killer!! We were so incredibly lucky to get 2 out of 3 without the condition that there was a 50/50 chance of passing on. Seems like with 6 you have a great chance of getting a good number unaffected! How have you found the process so far x

Timetotryagain · 11/04/2025 14:51

@Chickenqueen oh thats really good! Are you doing embryo banking then to get hopefully a bunch of normals? And is yours nhs or private funding

Yeah i have found the process fine so far its just the waiting now is stressing me out, my phone is on loud all day waiting for a call even though they said 2 - 4 weeks

@Chickenqueen i just realised you said FET next week i thought you said you were starting a new stims which is why i asked about embryo banking haha. Fet makes much more sense haha!

ClaireBear101 · 11/04/2025 17:33

@Alexm06 waiting is the worst but hopefully all good news tomorrow!!

I've had the embryo transfer so now just gotta wait wait wait and hope!!

lovelivelaugh64 · 11/04/2025 18:07

Hi all, I don’t really have much good news to share. At my day 9 scan 21 follicles were seen. At EC today they collected 21 eggs. However only 11 of them were mature. So the other 11 were disregarded. She said from the 11 they’ve tried to fertilise all 11, but half of them or more than half have not responded great and to manage our expectations. She also said that it was extremely difficult to do the ICSI procedure. She is going to give us a call back in the morning to let us know how many have fertilise. I am hopeful for 6-7 but she didn’t sound too promising over the phone which is devastating.

Timetotryagain · 11/04/2025 18:12

@lovelivelaugh64 keeping everything crossed for you tomorrow 🙏🙏 sorry that it didnt go as planned but if you get 7 fertilised thats still a great number 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

lovelivelaugh64 · 11/04/2025 18:16

@Timetotryagain I know, but she was more Inclining to 4. What I’m worried about is the drop off from then till day 5. What if I am left with none by day 5

Timetotryagain · 11/04/2025 18:20

@lovelivelaugh64 its difficult the waiting and theres nothing that can be done:( hopefully you have not much of a drop off between fertilisation and blasts 🙏

How do you feek after? 21 eggs you must be quite bloated
