Hiya. I’m due to start IVF in March and just wanted to find some people who were going through the same so we can support/ advise eachother! I’m 32 and have been trying to get pregnant for 8 years now and just wanted to meet some people in the same boat!

@charja100 you're just like me 🥹 I was NOT coping.

If it helps, I got a positive yesterday at 4dp5dt and today at 5dp5dt the line didn't show up in 1st response test AT ALL. Not even a squinter. I was absolutely beside myself and went to the pharmacy and bought a load of cheapies, literally every time I went to pee I'd POAS. On the cheapies were super faint positives but nothing on the 2 1st response tests I did today despite it being positive on 1st response yesterday. Like whaaattt 😭

Would it help trying to POAS on a different brand test?

Hi all. I hope you don’t mind me joking the post. We’re on our 3rd and final round of IVF (can’t afford any more) and just been to our first scan

our first round was 4 follicules 3 eggs 1 fertilised a day 2 transfer resulting in a positive but loss at 5 weeks

our second round was 3 follicles, 2 eggs, 1 fertilised a say 2 transfer resulting in a negative.

our scan today shown just two follicules. We got back Saturday for our second scan but it’s so hard to remain positive when you see such low numbers.

Good luck 🤞🏼❤️

charja100 · 02/04/2025 19:05

@expat321 I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful day with testing… does make me wonder if I just need to step away from the tests! For a couple more days at least!

I have just ordered some FRER which will hopefully arrive tomorrow. I might pop to boots now for a coupon of early pink dye tests!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 02/04/2025 19:34

@Allnew2021thanks for coming back and sharing your update. I think it’s really good that they have agreed to freeze your embryo and still let you move forward. Hope that your tests and supplements help to improve your outcomes in your next round

spttc · 02/04/2025 20:05

@charja100 testing is so hard 🙈 even in my ttc naturally cycles I couldn't stop myself and that's a longer wait. At least 9-10 days post ovulation to see a line. At least in ivf it's 5-6ish days and you might see something 🙈

Those getting first response tests where do you order from? We really annoyingly don't have them in Ireland anymore. So I've ordered from the states which is so ridiculous 😅🙈😬

@expat321 any sign of a line? Sorry that's happened. Fingers crossed for you

Hi all! So I had my first scan today. It’s been 7 days on stims and my left side hasn’t really done much at all but my right has 3 that are good then some quite a bit smaller and the rest are small like my left side. They won’t increase my meds as I’m on a kind package which is limited to what they can do. So yeah have said I will have egg collection on Monday and I might get 6 follicles if I’m lucky. Feeling quite disheartened as this is the worst I have done. I’m guessing it might be because I’m on gonal f and the last 3 collections I did I was on menopur. So yeah not the best news today.
Ive seen a few positives on this thread! Congrats to you all!!

spttc · 02/04/2025 20:30

Just got a message from clinic confirming transfer time for Friday. For some reason burst out crying 😭 Duno why I've been pretty chill the whole time but I guess it all depends on this. I guess after having had a miscarriage aswell I'm so aware... even if I do get a positive.... it may not result in a baby 😔 I think pregnancy after loss is just a whole different thing. Ugh.

I hope you get some good quality eggs. Looks like you are a little bit ahead of me and my two follicules as I have another scan on Saturday however they are not holding out much hope that the tiny one I have will come into play as a 3rd. My last cycles they managed to get two eggs from 3 follicles and in fertilised. Since today’s scan I have been feeling down in the dumps. I’m just worried if they only manage to get one or two eggs they may not fertilise which would be the absolute worst having nothing to transfer on my last ever IVF try. I find this time between scans collection and transfer much more anxiety provoking than the two week wait.

I really hope things work out for you and that it is quality over quantity. Wishing you lots of luck for the days ahead

Charmofgoldfinch · 02/04/2025 21:02

@spttc - awww - your reaction is understandable given everything your body has been through/ is going through at the moment and considering your previous loss. it’s really hard - you think you’re doing okay and then the emotions creep up on you. Just focus on getting to the next step - it sounds like you’re doing everything you can. So much of this is out of our control xx

OneQuirkyPanda · 02/04/2025 21:14

@Alexm06 @wishinghard2 hoping you both get some more follicles pop up.

I’ve found this whole process a lot harder emotionally than I expected, it’s just constant anxiety awaiting results isn’t it? I’m finding it hard to focus on anything else. It’s difficult to stay positive when you get hear of other people collecting 15+ eggs or getting lots of blasts to freeze too, but I keep reminding myself it really only does take one x

captainsmal · 02/04/2025 21:32

I second the opinion that the time between collection to day 5 update was way worse for me than 2ww tbh. And then after 2ww there’s also another 2ww for a scan (maybe even 3ww if you test early like I did lol)

for those debating brands of tests- I got mine on Amazon they’re called easy@home and it was £9.99 for a pack of 20, and they test 10iu of hcg so you can use them for early testing as a cheaper version of frer (even though it says on the box to use from first day of missed period) they’re also good if you’re planning to test every day and don’t want to spend loads and loads on branded ones

seriously wishing everyone who’s still going the best of luck and really hope that we will see you all over in the ivf bfp group soon 🤞🏻

charja100 · 02/04/2025 22:15

@spttcim so sorry that you’re going through this. It’s really not fair. I understand that pain and anxiety, and I think it is definitely why I’m finding this TWW so much harder. We thought we had our Christmas miracle on our 5th transfer in December, but I miscarried at 6 weeks in January: I’ve realised im still actually trying to get over it. Especially being 3 ECs in and it being my 6th transfer I feel like it should be my time. I’ve been so patient! But still BFN

After loss realise that there’s no guarantee even when you get a positive test. What little joy was left in this process has been sucked out of it.

we have to remember though that there is hope, and your happy ending could be this next transfer! So try to stay positive (she says, need to take my own advice 😂)

charja100 · 02/04/2025 22:17

@Alexm06 and @wishinghard2 wishing you lots of lovely eggs from your follicles!

Allnew2021 · 02/04/2025 22:53

@PrincessofLiechtenstein thank you! It will probably be a couple of months until we start the next round which is frustrating. However, I am pleased my doctor wants to do further investigations to try and get a better outcome... I'll just have to be patient! I hope things are going well for you.

Miraclemuma03 · 03/04/2025 02:35

Sorry to those that are having bfn right now. I hope that changes over the coming days.

I have my first scan and bloods tomorrow morming at the clinic. I'm starting to second guessing that there is anything happening. Day 3 i had a migraine with cramps and from day 3 to 6 I was cranky, day 7 i was tired and needed a lay down for half hr , I have some bloating but that's about it. I just feel fat hahah like iv gained weight but not game enough to actually weigh myself eekkk!!! Guess we will find out tomorrow if anything is happening. Oh this morning I woke with a bit of pain in my lower back that felt different then normal back pain but I'm old so who knows what that could have been.

Alexm06 · 03/04/2025 07:21

@wishinghard2yeah I have another scan on Friday but yeah I spiralled a bit yesterday even started looking at how much ivf abroad was haha (not that we could even afford another cycle).
Im now worried that the 3 that were good will get too big and the others will be too small and I’ll be left with nothing.
Yeah I feel that. I’m so anxious this time round with scans. I hope the third one plays ball for you. Good luck for Saturday!

@OneQuirkyPanda@charja100 thank you guys!

spttc · 03/04/2025 09:26

Progesterone bloods taken. Nervous now it will randomly not be high enough and be cancelled. My 3yr old randomly woke at 1:30am lastnight and stayed up all night 😬 hasn't done that in a very very long time. I'm a broken person today

Charmofgoldfinch · 03/04/2025 09:56

@spttc - fingers crossed for your blood tests. I really hope you’re good to go - when will you find out?

im currently in OHSS hell. I get the blood results today but I just don’t feel well enough to go ahead with transfer on sat regardless. Consultants at both my clinics (my satellite clinic and then the IVF clinic) have said because I’m petite (158cms) that my body just can’t cope with the amount of drugs they’ve given me or the procedure in general (I had to stay in after egg collection as I had a reaction to the anaesthetic). if I went ahead with the transfer and got pregnant I would have the OHSS symptoms for 2 months as the pregnancy would maintain the oestrogen levels and my ovaries wouldn’t return to normal - the thought of which is unbearable at the moment. I’m just hoping we have a couple of embryos to freeze on Saturday because I couldn’t face going through this again anytime soon.

i guess you just never know how your body is going to react to any of this, and it’s all a bit trial and error from the consultants side too.

Timetotryagain · 03/04/2025 10:46

Hi ladies, sorry have been a bit MIA since egg retrieval, i am actually finding the waiting to hear really hard :( like what @captainsmal said the 5 day wait is worse than anything in the whole process!

Well today we have a day 3 update. 5 embryos are at the expected 6 cell stage and are good/ reasonable quality and then the remaining 2 are a little slower/ poorer quality. Roll on Saturday where we get the day 5 update!

@Charmofgoldfinch sorry you are feeling the effects of OHSS, i seem to be doing okay at the moment but they did warn me about it as i am small, young(ish🤣) and had hcg trigger but i guess you had a few more eggs than me so more susceptible!

@expat321 have you retested???

@OneQuirkyPanda how was the call eith the nurse about the FET plans?

@spttc good luck! Are you on the suppositories?

Sal2910 · 03/04/2025 10:48

congrats to all those who got a BFP! Hope it all goes well throughout the pregnancy :)

an update from me: it was OTD today and it was a BFN which I knew for a few days already anyways as I started spotting since the weekend but had to wait to today to do one final test and stop the cyclogest.

have a appointment with the doctors next week and based on what the nurse said , we can possibly do a frozen transfer in May (my cycle are quite short so it will come around quickly) but my frosties are apparently average to poor quality so was told will have to transfer two 😯

does anyone uses embryo glue and did that help ? And besides cyclogest anyone doing the injections as well ?

Timetotryagain · 03/04/2025 10:49

@Miraclemuma03 good luck! I felt exactly the same before my first monitoring scan, have i been making up all these symptoms and i actually dont have any growth haha! Luckily i did but it does trick your mind

Timetotryagain · 03/04/2025 10:50

@Sal2910 sorry to hear it was bfn :( :(

OneQuirkyPanda · 03/04/2025 10:56

@Timetotryagain those are good numbers :) I found that stage the hardest too.

Was a very short call just checking I know what the plan is, I have a scan on Monday which is day 8, they will tell me then when to start the progesterone pessaries, I will take those for 5 days then have the FET. I alternate between feeling optimistic and feeling disappointed and negative. I don’t think the Estradiol helps with my mood though.

Charmofgoldfinch · 03/04/2025 11:14

@Timetotryagain - all the waiting to hear news is awful. I think every stage is hard (I’ve not got to the 2WW yet) but at least once you know how many embryos/ the quality etc you can start to make a plan. Fingers crossed for Saturday for you 🍀

Charmofgoldfinch · 03/04/2025 11:20

@Sal2910 - really sorry to hear about your BFN :(

I’ve paid for the embryo glue but not had my transfer yet. For my clinic it was £375. The evidence on its effectiveness is patchy- but it isn’t harmful and not too expensive so I thought I would go for it (especially as we don’t know at what stage conception/ pregnancy isn’t working for us).

i found the HFEA website and their traffic light system helpful in deciding which add ons to go for (just the glue). The fertility podcast also had a good episode on add ons which covered the glue: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-fertility-podcast/id918950602?i=1000678855436
