Banksl92 · 07/02/2025 19:20

Hiya. I’m due to start IVF in March and just wanted to find some people who were going through the same so we can support/ advise eachother! I’m 32 and have been trying to get pregnant for 8 years now and just wanted to meet some people in the same boat!

@ivfjourneyandme yup, hence why I’ve been a bit quiet on the Feb thread lately! Major depression, anxiety, crying at work etc plus some physical like extremely sore boobs and cramps etc! Really didn’t expect it to hit this hard considering people buy these otc to delay periods for holidays etc? I’m like “wtf, who would choose this?!” Lol. I guess it’s just me being unlucky and reacting badly to them. Hopefully it won’t also happen with the cyclogest if I get to 2ww, I think they’ll be more slow release so 🤞🏻🤞🏻 won’t hit me as hard. Have you had any side effects with yours yet?

ivfjourneyandme · 18/02/2025 22:16

@captainsmal so far, so good. I was worried of starting the meds

captainsmal · 18/02/2025 22:21

@ivfjourneyandme thats good then! Hopefully you won’t get any before your scan next week 🤞🏻
I finish mine Saturday night so I expect a period anytime from Sunday and as long as it comes within 5 days stims will be next Friday 🤞🏻

ivfjourneyandme · 19/02/2025 09:26

@captainsmal with my protocol, I’ve been told to expect a period as normal which should be next week 🤞🏻

captainsmal · 19/02/2025 09:33

@ivfjourneyandme thats not too bad then, mine is more of a withdrawal bleed than a normal period but I guess it still counts as day 1 🤷🏼‍♀️

Quaver9 · 20/02/2025 13:13

@ivfjourneyandme @captainsmal how you both doing? Are you due to finish the down reg soon? My period came 3 days into the 6 break when I finished mine, clinic said that was fine and usual to still be bleeding on the baseline scan.
good luck for stims, I found them fine tbh apart from the last few uncomfy days .

I’m waiting for an update on my fertilised eggs to see how many made it to day 3 and they day 5 (if any of course).
They’re not ruling out a fresh transfer on day 5 which I think is odd with the number collected and from what I’ve heard from others, freeze all is pretty standard.
I think it’s because I feel well, aside from the tenderness. Worried if they do a transfer on Sunday I’ll be really sick with OHSS next week though! Not sure what to do for the best.

captainsmal · 20/02/2025 13:32

@Quaver9 I have two days left, absolutely hating them tbh but hopefully stims will be easier! Considering the cramps I’ve had I basically feel like period is going to come straight away when I stop lol 😅

did you have the progesterone test on EC day? My clinic uses that to decide who gets fresh and who has to freeze, I would say if they’re not worried then go for it with a fresh, saves waiting extra time lol. But obviously depends how you feel the next couple of days, hopefully you won’t get ohss. Drink lots of electrolytes and eat salty food it’s meant to lower the risk and help with it if you did get it 🤞🏻

Quaver9 · 20/02/2025 14:48

@captainsmal least if your period arrives quickly you know you’re staying on track!
As far as I know they didn’t do any tests at EC (unless they did while I was sedated). It was very much ‘it’s up to you’ ‘if you’re well enough’ type thing re transfer. I don’t want to waste a transfer if I’m full of fluid etc so I’m hoping they’ll scan first before deciding to go ahead with fresh.
Ive been drinking loads of electrolytes so wondering if that’s what’s kept me so well and hydrated given the amount of eggs. Just praying we got some quality ones 🤞

captainsmal · 20/02/2025 16:49

@Quaver9 maybe they did it while sedated, I’m not sure when they are doing mine either before/after etc!
I was worried about having to freeze since we’re almost at 10 years ttc now so impatient isn’t even the word anymore 😅 and I spoke to a girl I know who was on the same protocol as me etc and she had to freeze all so I was thinking I’d probably have to, but since speaking to her again it turns out her amh was double mine so she was high risk, so she reckons I’ll be fine to do fresh! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I know in the grand scheme of things an extra month or two is nothing but now I’m finally starting I just want it all over with 😂
electrolytes will definitely be helping cos the salt draws fluid away from other organs so hopefully if they scan you you’ll be okay 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Quaver9 · 20/02/2025 17:04

@captainsmal we’ve been about 3 years now and I’m very impatient so I can only imagine how your feeling!
my AMH is 39.5!!! And im 38, I’m surely at high risk of OHSS! Anyway let’s see what tomorrow & Sunday bring re transfer. Good luck for starting your stims I found them no problem at all once I’d done it a few times! 🩵

captainsmal · 20/02/2025 17:09

@Quaver9 yeah we had so many problems along the way with delays, hospital lost DH sperm sample twice on different occasions, then covid, then a lot of delays this time round so it all feels a bit never ending lol. It’ll be 10 years in September 🙄 Still kinda can’t believe I’m actually in treatment now tbh? I genuinely think if ivf works for us I won’t actually believe that I’m pregnant 😂

good luck tomorrow and Sunday anyway! Let us know what you decide!

captainsmal · 22/02/2025 08:03

@Quaver9 how did it go yesterday? Did you decide to go ahead with transfer tomorrow?

Quaver9 · 22/02/2025 10:10

@captainsmal hi! Yes we’re going in tomorrow as I feel absolutely fine, but hoping they will do a scan for fluid just incase. 12 fertilised and 8 are doing well so we’re hopeful of a good handful that make it to blastocyst tomorrow - everything crossed.
Last day of tabs for you today? X

SPEL92 · 22/02/2025 11:13

Hello everyone! 👋 @Banksl92 Thank you for starting this thread - you and I have very similar situations.

Turning 33 this week, I have the low side of "average" follicles, but my husband, 43, has a very low sperm count. This improved significantly with the supplements but we're still under the low threshold. We have only actively been trying for 14 months, but we haven't been using any form of protection for the last 10 years so they think our odds of natural conception are low. We're going through ICSI with a late March start date. Quite nervous about the process itself and balancing it and its hormones with a very intense job.

captainsmal · 22/02/2025 11:26

@Quaver9 ooh exciting! That sounds like good numbers as well 🤞🏻 Yes last day today, already done this mornings dose so just one to go really! Then it’s the wait for AF lol 😂
@SPEL92 welcome! You’re similar to me with 10 years ttc, they said even though it’s unexplained that after this amount of time natural conception would be really low chances so icsi for us too 🤞🏻

Banksl92 · 23/02/2025 21:28

Thank you all so much for the replies! I didn’t get any notifications so didn’t think I had any responses but so glad to see how much support is out there :). I just wondered how people feel about the injections? I have no issues with needles or giving blood or anything like that but slightly worried how I will feel doing them to myself! My husband is totally squeamish around needles so I don’t think he will be able to help!

OP posts:
captainsmal · 23/02/2025 21:32

@Banksl92 I’m the same, I guess I won’t know until I do my first one tbh 😅 I have loads of tattoos so I’m not fussed by needles but I suppose it’s different when you’re doing it yourself! My husband would’ve actually been ok doing mine as he had to inject blood thinners when he broke his leg years ago, but it turns out he’ll be working on the times I need to do them so I’m stuck on my own lol

Twofromanotherkind · 23/02/2025 21:33

Yeah I'm not sure about the whole injection thing but I'll just have to get on with it as it's just me!! Can't wait to start now, won't be starting on stims until my next period which will be end of march

Pourmeagingin · 23/02/2025 22:57

Hi ladies, I was so thrilled to see this post pop up!! We’re about to have our first frozen transplant tail end of next week, so I feel like I’m in the March camp with when we’d find out our results etc.
I’m 36, work in events (nightmare career to juggle with IVF and stress management 🤦🏼‍♀️) and based in West Sussex.
We had our first fresh round via the NHS just before Christmas at the Agora clinic in Brighton (12 eggs collected, 4 fertilised and only 2 made it successfully to blastocyst stage - a 5AA and a 1BB) and sadly it wasn’t a successful round. Post the first round I was in a lot of discomfort which they now believe was OSHH post egg collection, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this frozen round with my remaining 1BB embryo is successful!
Keeping my fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏻

captainsmal · 23/02/2025 23:03

@Pourmeagingin hi! Ooh that’s exciting and so close now. Do you have to take many meds etc for a fet? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you!

I had to take the Ovitrelle trigger injection and tomorrow I start the glorious progesterone pessaries in preparation for our FET on Friday!!

captainsmal · 23/02/2025 23:18

@Pourmeagingin I haven’t heard good things about the pessaries, I’m not looking forward to them lol 😂 ooh exciting though hope it goes well!

They weren’t much fun the last time 😂 the constipation is unreal, but you can take something for it! I’d say it’s the one element they really underplay in the whole process!!!

captainsmal · 23/02/2025 23:32

@Pourmeagingin omg I heard about constipation after EC but not during the pessaries as well. I worry about taking laxatives because I have IBS, although mine is mostly a constipated version of IBS (sorry tmi haha) I do still get upset stomachs too and I worry too much about going too far that way 😅

captainsmal · 23/02/2025 23:33

Actually I was pretty bad with it this last week on norethisterone and that makes sense if it’s progesterone doing it! I assumed it was just my usual stomach problems lol
