Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

@Waitingformystork The EPU is not open on the weekend! Also have to be referred by GP. So if I wanted a scan at the hospital today it’d probably have to be via A&E and it’s not heavy enough for that.

Spotting is pretty light today, so seems to be slowing down/clearing up.

I’m going to call GP tomorrow though. I have to do another urine sample as there was blood in my urine, but after stopping antibiotics on Wednesday - yesterday I started feeling quite uncomfortable down there. Not like before, but it’s round the front and I’m convinced there’s still blood in my urine that hasn’t gone. Can’t see it, pee isn’t red or anything, but the cramps I had are coming back too. So, I’ll ask for an appointment and see what they say. I’m wondering, given the pain I had in my side/back whether one week of antibiotics wasn’t enough to sort it out.

Apparently there were no bugs in my urine before, but my symptoms were 100% UTI and did get better with antibiotics - until the course finished. I suspect maybe different antibiotics or a referral to urology. Or both.

It’s been a very stressful 3 days so far! GP might refer me to EPU but given my viability scan is Tuesday - I expect not.

OneWaryCat · 23/03/2025 12:19

Hope you get some reassurance and relief soon @Lauralozzle. All sounds like it's quite stressful. Good the spotting is clearing up though. As others have said, quite common to have some, and if its light and brown then it all sounds quite normal. X

YellowTack · 23/03/2025 15:21

@Lauralozzle sorry to hear you are going through a stressfull time, hopefully you will be reasurred with your viability scan next week.

It is worth still asking for your GP to refer you to the EPU so that you are in the system and can go back to them for scans in the future if you are still worried about bleeding or even just to be monitored.

OneWaryCat · 23/03/2025 16:18

How are you @yellowtack? Xx

YellowTack · 23/03/2025 17:10

@OneWaryCat thank you for asking, I am doing better and have reached the stage where I just want this to be over so that I can focus on the next steps.

I got refered to the EPU and had a scan on Friday which confirmed no heartbeat, but apparently the policy is that they now need 2 scans before they can confirm it’s a miscarriage so I need to go back next Wednesday. It’s really cruel because there is no doubt this pregnancy is not viable and making it last longer is just more difficult mentally.
I still have zero symptoms of the miscarriage which makes it hard to process.
The other issue is that they don’t want me to have a D&C surgery which was my preferred option, as apparently it can have a negative effect on fertility. The doctor said they never want to do D&C on fertility patients because of these risks! Well nobody told me about that when I had my D&C in November! So I will ask for an MVA which doesn’t sound great but at least it will be done.

I am really hoping that by the end of next week it will be physically done so that I can start healing mentally!

I think I will want to do PGT-A next time and I have started looking at the prices, it’s really scary!

InGodsHands · 23/03/2025 19:13

I’m so sorry @YellowTack I hope everything goes well for you. IVF is really tough. You mention you haven’t had any miscarriage symptoms so does that mean you still have pregnancy symptoms?

YellowTack · 23/03/2025 19:53

@InGodsHands I still have sore breasts and a lot of food aversions. It’s for sure another MMC so my body has not registered what is happening. It will take a long time for my hormones to go back to normal. This is honestly the most frustrating part because it means I won’t be able to try again before probably June as it takes on average 6 weeks for the periods to come back and then I will need to wait another cycle for my body to reset. I just thought 2025 would be the year I would finally have a baby but it’s now not happening! I will now hope for a 2026 baby!

InGodsHands · 23/03/2025 20:35

@YellowTack That’s honestly so devastating. I know how hard it must feel for you especially that you still feel pregnant. Between now and when you start this process again, try and take the best care of yourself. Good luck for 2026 x

HopefulSibling · 24/03/2025 09:03

Sorry to hear you're going through such a tough time @YellowTack - it all sounds so frustrating that your body hasn't caught up with what's happening and that you have to wait for the second scan too. Hope that you've got lots of support around you.. and here's hoping 2026 is your year! xx

HopefulSibling · 24/03/2025 09:03

Has anyone had a previous c-section?

I was rubbing moisturiser into my belly this morning, and noticed that there seems to be a lot more scar tissue around my previous section scar - hopefully it's all normal as my body changes/grows.. but feels like another thing to add to the list of worries!

Daniki · 24/03/2025 10:29

@YellowTack I'm so sorry, its all so tough and especially cruel to have another MMC as such. i think they're absolutely awful, id never heard of it until my friend had one and now I'm extra terrified of it happening. She didn't know until she went for her 12 week scan :(

@HopefulSibling i did, 4 years ago! cant say iv noticed, but I'm intrigued now and will scoot to the bathroom at work and have a feel! 😂

HopefulSibling · 24/03/2025 11:17

😂did you feel anything @Daniki ?! I had an emergency c-section 6.5 years ago.. and although I had the classic overhang, I don't think I had tooooo much hard scar tissue.. just feels like there's more now?! I guess the bottom of my bump will be around that area, so perhaps it's just stretching and growing out a bit...

Daniki · 24/03/2025 11:54

@HopefulSibling i went and had a feel, it feels the same as usual. but you're right it could be stretching and growing now. I genuinely think I'm starting to show, il be 10 weeks on Wednesday. I have an overhang too (hate it!) and a bit of a belly but defo feeling a bit more "pronounced" and belly feels stretched or something 😂

OneWaryCat · 24/03/2025 16:58

@yellowtack sending you loads of love. Crossing everything for you for an early 2026 baby. Just so sorry this has happened to you again. This process can be so cruel. Take care of yourself xx

Waitingformystork · 25/03/2025 12:51

@yellowtack - I'm so sorry, it's such a difficult thing to go through.

@Lauralozzle how did your scan go?

Lauralozzle · 25/03/2025 16:24

@Waitingformystork Thanks for asking. Good news, there was a heartbeat. I’m 8w 4d and measuring 8w5d on the scan. They couldn’t find anything reason for the spotting I’ve been having.

I’m still a bit worried about the spotting but feeling much more confident.

On another note, had my urine tested yesterday. No more blood but there was sugar in my urine, so urgent bloods this morning to test for diabetes. It’s not been an easy few weeks! I’ve done some reading though and steroids can mess with your glucose levels so I’m hoping it’s temporary and will return to normal maybe after I stop the prednisolone. I suspect a glucose test some time in the next couple of weeks though.

That's great news about the heartbeat, congratulations!

Fingers crossed about the glucose test, hopefully as you say, the sugar in the urine is from the steroids

Daniki · 25/03/2025 18:08

@Lauralozzlethats great! Spotting is way more common with ivf pregnancies anyway. And defo sugar be from the steroids, any time I was on them for Crohn’s I was tested all the time. Haven’t actually been this pregnancy but in with GP in 2 weeks so I’d say he will and they will at my actual booking app!

Lauralozzle · 26/03/2025 07:27

@Waitingformystork Thank you. ☺️

@Daniki I didn’t even realise before that steroids could do this, but I guess it makes sense. Fingers crossed your levels are all good at your booking appointment.

To add to my anxiety- I had some red-ish bleeding last night when straining to have a 💩. Not from the bum, I checked. Seemed to settle down immediately though, although was nerve wracking to see. I have had bad constipation so I’ll pop to the pharmacy today and ask about stool softeners. I think it must have been from the straining.

I have my booking appointment next week, so will tell the midwife all about it then.

Daniki · 26/03/2025 07:34

@Lauralozzlepossibly a fissure or something from staining. So common! Also prune juice and heat it up and drink is great for relieving constipation 👌

Thatslifethatsit · 26/03/2025 12:19

@YellowTack so sorry to read your news. Everything crossed for a 2026 baby. Hope you get a chance to rest

Elena3 · 26/03/2025 16:23

@YellowTack thinking of you :( x really sorry you had to go through all this.

YellowTack · 28/03/2025 09:38

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts.

I wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancies, it’s amazing that so many ladies will have their much wanted babies in October 2025. There is always hope!

I had my MVA procedure yesterday, the procedure itself was less painful than I expected but the pain started after the procedure. I will now take some time to rest and heal, but at least I have put this behind me and I can now move forward.

Sherr33 · 28/03/2025 09:51

@YellowTack I'm so sorry. I'm going to have to terminate my pregnancy due to baby having Anencephaly. I'm currently 13w2d. Does anyone know what my options would be? I don't want to go with an option that further impacts my fertility :-( my biggest fear

Scoobywho24 · 28/03/2025 11:03

Oh my goodness @YellowTack @Sherr33 i am so deeply sorry 😢

my 2nd transfer ended in miscarriage and I was offered medication or surgery. There wasnt anything mentioned about me being a fertility patient. I’m sure that the same risks would apply to non-fertility patients. I had a d&c and I found it to be the best option for me. I had a hysteroscopy later that year as part of investigation as to why my transfers hadn’t taken, and my uterus was totally healthy with no scar tissue. I know the risk is there though.

again, so sorry. Sending love and hope.
