Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

@HopefulSibling Oh, fingers crossed you get those antibiotics quickly. I was quite lucky that I got an urgent GP appointment and she gave me a script for a 7 day course of nitrofurantoin. Had to do a sample too, but not heard anything so assuming it’s the right antibiotics.

I was convinced waking up in the night to pee was just ‘frequent urination’ and chalked it up to a pregnancy symptom. My pee when wiping was quite dark, but looked fine in the loo, so chalked that up to a pregnancy quirk. Chalked the backache that ran up my left flank to sitting awkwardly in my computer chair (I do lean funny trying to get comfortable). These symptoms have gone now, so it was all the UTI. Don’t google! I did, told the GP I had googled and read things about kidney infections and sepsis and she was like ‘don’t google. You’ve not got sepsis, that’s why I took your heart rate and blood pressure and did an abdominal exam!’

@Daniki The tiredness is something else isn’t it? Woke up at 6:30 yesterday. Finished work at 3:30PM (office job, and I was WFH). Went to bed at 3:45PM, had a long nap, woke up at 6:30PM. Picked at dinner, then went to bed at 9:30PM. Woke up at about 7:00AM. It’s only half two and I could crawl into bed again.

I was a little worried my symptoms had gone this morning, but the sore boobs and tiredness is back. It took me about 30 mins to eat a small ready-meal Mac and cheese (I have no energy to cook) and I think the nausea will be back full swing come this evening.

I was so frustrated by it yesterday. Last week the husband made spaghetti carbonara and I wolfed it down. He made it again yesterday and I could barely eat it, all I could smell was garlic and bacon and it made me want to puke. I hate that my safe foods last week are turning into ‘nope’ foods. I was crying out of frustration with it yesterday.

Daniki · 19/03/2025 14:51

@Lauralozzleits so frustrating! I’m living on white carbs really. And lollipops help 🤣 even reading bacon and garlic there I could feel my stomach turning it’s mad isn’t it! I’m strangely comforted by the sickness due to previous losses and can’t wait for it to be over 🤣 I was nodding off myself there in work, only 10 mins left thank god and I live 2 mins away 🙌🏻

HopefulSibling · 19/03/2025 14:52

@Lauralozzle frustratingly I’ve had to leave the hospital without them as I needed to collect my son from school… so now I’ve got to do the 1 hour round trip to go and collect them once I’ve got him.. all because my GP won’t prescribe them. He says my sample didn’t contain enough traces.

I had sepsis in labour with my son, so I am super paranoid of bacteria!

now you say it… I do get up to pee about 4-5 times a night, so could well be the UTI?!

Lauralozzle · 19/03/2025 16:26

@Daniki I’ve found really cold things ok - in small quantities - so I have a freezer full of orange ice lollies and I can just about manage them in the evening. I did have some strawberries but I ate them already…

@HopefulSibling How irritating! Yes, the peeing in the night could well be a UTI. I was getting up 2-3 times in the night, that’s stopped now after taking antibiotics for a few days. The peeing razorblades was the second to last symptom I had and that’s the one everyone associates with UTI’s.

Sepsis in labour 😩 I totally understand why you’re worried about bacteria! That sounds scary! I hope you’ve managed to get the antibiotics now.

HopefulSibling · 19/03/2025 18:18

I have the same meds you had @Lauralozzle for 7 days, first dose in me.. so hopefully it’s gone! Did you do a re sample after to make sure it had gone?

That hasn’t been mentioned to me yet, but surely makes sense to do.

OneWaryCat · 19/03/2025 18:32

The exhaustion is deffo hitting me. Although I hadn't exactly been taking it easy. Had to go to a hen party on Saturday (that I helped organise) and then on Sunday had to go stay in a different city for the night as I had a work conference the following day. Finally got home at 9.30pm on Monday and was utterly destroyed. Tried to wfh yesterday but kept napping between every single meeting.

I'm also just into carbs and junk food right now. I know I need to eat more healthily but anything good for me seems to turn my stomach. Just stopped myself buying loads of pick and mix and I am also craving sweets a lot.

Definitely need to try get myself back on the healthy eating, not least to try deal with the constipation.

I'm 9 weeks now and just desperate for that 12 week scan to come around and hopefully some peace of mind.

Still think I won't properly tell people or work until I'm further down the line, but at least I won't have to hide the 'no alcohol' anymore and can tell people I'm too tired to do things, rather than look like I can't be arsed to meet up.

Lauralozzle · 20/03/2025 08:38

@HopefulSibling Re-testing wasn’t mentioned to me, but I have my midwife app 1st April so they’ll then anyways.

@OneWaryCat I’m exhausted just reading what you’ve been up to! I’m all carbs at the moment, with a bit of protein when I can tolerate it. Living off toast, scrambled eggs, bagels and cream cheese, plain pasta and potatoes. Anything with too much flavour is a nope from me at the moment. It’s the evening meal I’m really struggling with.

Sherr33 · 20/03/2025 12:51

Hey all, haven't posted on here in a while. I'm more active on the WhatsApp group. I just wanted to ask who else has stopped their meds at 12 weeks? How are you feeling? My last prednisolone tablet is tomorrow and I'm freaking out. Also I'm to continue blood thinners injections throughout whole preg and they want me to double up from 75mg aspirin to 150mg...anyone else in similar boat?

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 20/03/2025 12:54

@Sherr33 I'm due to stop my progesterone and estrogen this weekend at 12 weeks, the clinic said it's fine to just stop but some women reduce for a few days i.e. take one pessary instead of 2 then stop.
I will probably do this, I know it's fine to stop but it makes me nervous.
I'm also starting 150 aspirin from Sunday as well to help reduce the risk of preeclampsia

Daniki · 20/03/2025 12:55

@Sherr33i am due to stop my steroids at 12 weeks but I’d like to continue on, I will speak to my consultant next week when im in for another scan. With my first and only successful pregnancy I was actually on steroids the whole pregnancy for other reasons! I was supposed to stop estrogen last week but iv so many of them iv decided to continue on as it seems its standard in other clinics to continue to 12 weeks!

HopefulSibling · 20/03/2025 12:55

Funnily enough @Sherr33 I literally just did my lubion injection thinking this time next week will be my last one! Still on that, 2 x utrogestan pessaries and estrogen tablets currently... consultant wants me to introduce 150mg aspirin from next Thursday (12 weeks) due to my age (I'll be 40 two weeks before my due date) and the fact it's and IVF pregnancy.

A little bit apprehensive about stopping the meds, but looking forward to not being tied to reminders on my phone all day long!

Are there many in the whatsapp group?

Sherr33 · 20/03/2025 14:06

@Daniki I was only on 10mg have tapered down to 2.5mg so I keep telling my self it's okay that tomorrow is my last tablet. But then my little doubty thoughts creep in 😫

@Hopefullyonedaysoon @HopefulSibling are you both doubling aspirin due to age? I forgot what the haematology consultant said as to why he wants me to double aspirin. I am so scared to double up and be on blood thinning injections.

Feel like I need someone to just grab me and tell me itl be okay.
Yes there is quite a few of us on their. It's so nice to have a daily whatsapp group. I would promote it if I could haha. Come join us!

@Sherr33 I haven't taken any aspirin prior to this, hospital want me to take 150 straight away from 12 weeks, it's purely precaution for me as my sister had preeclampsia.
I'm sure they wouldn't tell you to take both of it wasn't ok. I know it's scary and it's such a struggle to get to 12 weeks you question everything, can you maybe just mention to your midwife for extra reassurance x

Yeah I think il start to double it up from today as 12w1d today and then just bring up any concerns at my next midwife appointment which is later on in April.

Lauralozzle · 21/03/2025 08:02

I’ve started spotting this morning, bang on 8 weeks. I’ve left a message with the clinic but obviously, I’m thinking impending miscarriage.

We will see what the clinic say, I suppose.

Daniki · 21/03/2025 09:03

@Lauralozzleis it much? Hopefully just normal spotting iv had 3 instances of it so far x hope you get seen and some reassurance!

Lauralozzle · 21/03/2025 10:33

@Daniki It’s not loads but it’s mixed with the waxy substance from the cyclogest, so seems like there’s more than there is. Every time I wipe though it’s there and it’s on my pantyliner.

Nurse at clinic are not bothered because it’s brown. My boobs are slightly less sore this morning.

Just taking it easy today, will wait and see…

Daniki · 21/03/2025 12:03

@Lauralozzle hopefully its nothing and just irritation from the pessaries. annoying they wouldn't take you in for a scan to reassure you!

I got my booking app and its not until the 28th April when il be turning 15 weeks! tried to change it and couldn't. I'm in for a scan next Friday with the miscarriage clinic when il be 10 weeks I'm going to ask them will they scan me at 12 weeks so i can somewhat relax and hopefully tell people my news.

bluebella2 · 22/03/2025 07:42

@Lauralozzle I hope you're ok, it's really stressful to have spotting. Are you cramping at all?

Just to reassure you, I had spotting and two full on bleeds at 7 & 8 weeks, no cramping. I found out yesterday that there was a haematoma and apparently 1 in 5 women bleed. So fingers crossed for you 😘😘

Feliciacat · 22/03/2025 09:34

@Lauralozzlehoping for the best for you.

I can’t believe I didn’t see this thread before! I got a BFP after my second embryo transfer in February and am currently 8w1d; due 31/10/25. I have no children yet and I had a miscarriage of my first embryo transfer back in November. I’ve never conceived naturally due to undiagnosed endometriosis.

I have one more embryo in the freezer. Since I’ll be 38 upon the birth of my first child and then should wait 12 months (until I’m 39) to have another transfer or ivf, I won’t be doing any more ivf. We’ll just see how my final embryo goes after this pregnancy.

Scoobywho24 · 22/03/2025 11:07

@Feliciacat similar to me! I’m due 27/10/2025, also miscarried before this transfer.
how are you feeling? I’m very nervous all the time! 🥴

Feliciacat · 22/03/2025 11:20

@Scoobywho24congratulations! I guess you must be about 8w4d. I read that if you get to 8 weeks with a heartbeat then there’s only a 2% chance of miscarriage. That’s very reassuring. If you’re worried all the time then is it worth getting a private heartbeat scan? If there’s a heartbeat now then (even with a history of loss) the risk is minuscule.

Lauralozzle · 22/03/2025 11:58

@Daniki I’ve switched the pessaries to back end in case it was causing irritation.

@bluebella2 I have cramping, but it’s mild, not super painful cramps. It could be because of the spotting, the medication or the fact I haven’t had a 💩 for a few days (using back end will not help with that!).

@Feliciacat Thank you.

My husband is convinced everything is fine, because brown = old blood and the clinic basically said try not to worry.

I’m convinced this is the start of a miscarriage. Spotting is a bit heavier today, but still fairly light, but more than yesterday. It’s there every time I wipe - small bit on pantyliner. Far too light for anything to be done about it, unless things change enough for me to need to call 111 or go to A&E I’ll just have to wait until Tuesday.

HopefulSibling · 22/03/2025 15:28

Sorry to hear that @Lauralozzle - thinking of you and hoping it’s nothing more than spotting of old blood 🤞🏼

Waitingformystork · 23/03/2025 10:21

@Lauralozzle I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding, that's very stressful! Have you tried your local early pregnancy unit? They might do a scan for you, if your ivf clinic won't
