Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

Ooh I like the idea of weaning off the meds.. I’ve just got to go cold turkey on all of them at 12 weeks.

I’m taking 3 x Progynova, 2 x Utrogestan, and 1 x Lubion.. my son was a natural FET back in 2018 but this time I’m quite like the security of the meds and a bit anxious about coming off them!

Elena3 · 03/03/2025 17:46

I can't wait to stop Progynova! I did something very naughty - I am meant to be on 4 Progynova per day and I think it has side effects, I asked doctors to reduce the dose at least but they didn't, so I am just taking 3 per day instead of 4.

I am using Cyclogest (x2) religiously though.

OneWaryCat · 03/03/2025 18:23

Oooh congratulations @bluebella2! That's so exciting. Our second lot of twins on this thread, @cleggrickman also expecting.

I'd love twins - I know it's a lot but I think I might be 'one and done' if this one goes well so at least twins would give me instant siblings! Good luck to you both.

@HopefulSibling Good to hear you say you think weeks 5-6 might be the hardest. I was wiped out all weekend and feeling nauseous. Luckily was able to go into the office today and focus a bit on work.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

HopefulSibling · 03/03/2025 18:35

Ooh what side effects are you getting from Progynova @Elena3 ? 4 of them sounds quite intense!

I find it really hard knowing what symptom comes from what med, or whether it’s actually pregnancy!

hopefully you’re coming out the other side of it now @OneWaryCat ! I’ve really struggled to focus fully on work the whole way so far… not good! So easily distracted by my thoughts.. oops!

Elena3 · 03/03/2025 18:45

@HopefulSibling those symptoms normally associated with lots of estrogen, similar to what I had while on contraception pill in the past - ever since I started using progynova, there is a slow and steady weight gain, yes, of course pregnancy plays a role, but many people don't really put any weight on during 1st trimester. From 59kg I am already 60.8 this morning, doing 6k steps, being active and the only day I really ate too much was yesterday. But not only this of course, I had some random 'shooting' pains in my breasts, very similar to the ones when you get a breast cyst, those associated with estrogen. I had a breast fibroadenoma surgery removal 8 years ago, and I am really weary of cysts/lumps etc.
I am also prone to migraines, so again, being an estrogen bomb is not ideal. I do understand that doctor said it is important, because it helps the lining, but it only helps before/during implantation, I am pretty sure that at this stage I am already producing plenty of estrogen anyway. I don't have the courage to switch to just 2 progynovas per day, so I thought reducing to 3 from 4 will help at least a little bit xx

Daniki · 03/03/2025 20:03

@Elena3 I agree I bloody hate the estrogen. Can't wait to come off it, I have a scan on thurs with jvf clinic when I will be 7+1 and if all ok I'd say they'll take me off estrogen next week but continue my million other meds 🤣

Longest day of my life today, we're up at 5am as to be in hospital for my sons grommets surgery at 7am. They didn't take him until 11am(he had been fasting from 8pm night before 🥹) and then they keep children for 4 hours after a general anaesthetic. We weren't told any of this, Absolutley starving all day and I am just exhausted now and pelvis is sore from horrible seats, so glad to be home!

I also would love twins as I would have 3 children then and probably would be content! 🤣

Elena3 · 03/03/2025 20:39

@Daniki I am glad you understand my struggles lol x
My scan with IVF clinic is 11th of March and I ll be 8 weeks and 6 days, thats when the doctor said '...we can START THINKING of reducing the estrogen dose'. I will probably have to exaggerate and mention migraines. Please don't think I am ungrateful for what's offerred, I am super appreciative for progesterone for example, and I have 0 side effects (and no constipation either lol), and I know how important it is.
I can imagine how exhausted you must be, we are already working non stop building human life lol

Daniki · 03/03/2025 20:45

@Elena3 I'm the same re migraines. I suffer with them anyway! I have been cleared to use my usual triptans thankfully but iv been trying my best to not take anything 🙈 also wondering why the estrogen is needed for so long as I also thought it was just for lining reasons! Haha it is exhausting growing a human, my husband seems to keep forgetting I'm pregnant and couldn't understand how I was starting to get so grumpy earlier but I hate being unprepared and I would have been a lot more prepared if I know we would be in the hospital 10 hours in total 🤣

Elena3 · 03/03/2025 21:30

@Daniki I only had 1 migraine outbreak so far, but I think that coincided with the worst morning sickness, so I had all this at the same time. Didn't take anything apart from Paracetamol (never works for me as a painkiller anyway), which I couldn't hold in anyway because of the morning sickness.

I found some research on estrogen - I think one was saying that it helps maintaining lining thickness, but another one however, was saying that the conclusion was that it didn't make any difference, so go figure...x

Daniki · 04/03/2025 09:53

@Elena3 that is uninteresting! Prob falls in line then why clinics stop it around 7/8 weeks. Hope I will finish it this week 🤣 god I don't envy the morning sickness I get some nausea here and there but as I'm on a high dose steroid etc I think it's masking it for me 🙈

Cosyseason1234 · 04/03/2025 14:47

@Elena3 thank you so much for checking in on me ❤️
how are you doing? I have awful nausea and am another level tired but very grateful to be 8 weeks 2 days! Xxx

Elena3 · 04/03/2025 14:57

Oh bless you @Cosyseason1234 , reading this I have been vomiting every 30 minutes from 7 am today, I dont know what to do anymore. I tried cyclizine, but couldn't hold it in...I wonder when is the time to go to A and E, apparently after 24 hours...x

I’m so sorry to read this 😔 can you keep anything down? Is it your first day of being this sick? I have heard very good things about Xonvea xx

Scoobywho24 · 04/03/2025 17:32

Hi all,

thought I’d jump on as I’m estimating due date around 27 October.

i had my first scan today at 6+1, saw gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole with a flickering heartbeat. All very exciting but I am worried as the sonographer estimated me as 5+4? She said it’s normal to be out by a few days around this time as it’s so small. But I’m still scared! Anyone else had this? Everyone is so chilled about it but I’m like aaaaa 😭

Hey when I went for my 6+1 week scan they couldn't see a fetal pole, then the following week when I was at 7w1d they could see fetal pole sacs and a heartbeat but said baby was measuring a week behind, then I went back at 8w1d and the heartbeat was stronger and baby had grown. Last Thursday I was 9w1d and my baby was 5 days behind but they were happy with the growth and everything. I was discharged from my clinic. Sometimes implantation could have happened later or baby just starting out smaller or sometimes measurements aren't accurate. ❤️ congratulations btw x

Hello @Sherr33 thanks for your reply that has really settled my nerves! Thank you.
I did wonder how people are measuring at their exact dates unless their embryo implanted on the day of transfer 🤔 I bet it was stressful for you though. Congratulations on your pregnancy and on being discharged x

It was very stressful. I didn't know which way it would go but I tried to just remain hopeful and rested.
Thank you x

At my scan the lady told me a day is like 1mm so she said it's very easy to be a few days 'out' because it's so tiny and it wasn't worth stressing over. We were 6+4 and measuring at 6+2 and she showed me what 6+4 was on the scan and it was minimal difference. So long as it's in there and in the eight place with a good heartbeat, that is all that matters!

I have seen here to call a doctor if you are sick more than 4 times in a day, and if you can't keep anything down. https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/hyperemesis-gravidarum.html#:~:text=Call%20the%20doctor%20right%20away,streaks%20of%20blood%20in%20it

I hope they can help!

Nemours KidsHealth

Severe Morning Sickness (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) (for Parents)

Bouts of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy are considered normal. But when they're so severe that a woman can't keep foods down, she and her baby's health are at risk.

Just out of my scan with ivf clinic, all good and really strong heartbeat. Can relax for another week anyway 🤣🥰

daisyjones03 · 06/03/2025 13:33

@Daniki congrats, that’s brilliant! 🤩 Xx

OneWaryCat · 07/03/2025 11:20

I also had my official scan yesterday @Daniki. Finally discharged from the clinic and referred to my local hospital and maternity unit.

Feeling a bit queasy today but hoping it will pass. Off to finally break the news to my mum tonight. ❤

Daniki · 07/03/2025 11:23

@OneWaryCat brilliant how do you feel? I'm the same I'm getting waves of nausea here and there but not too bad. I'm on a high dose of steroids which I think masks a lot of symptoms. Get to come off the estrogen next wed 🙌🏻

@daisyjones03 thank you 😍

OneWaryCat · 07/03/2025 12:03

@Daniki I've been given the go ahead to come off the cyclogest pessaries so I'm now meds free! Happy to be off them but also bit anxious about it too.

I'm starting to feel quite sick now.....might stop work for the day!

Are you feeling any better @Elena3?
