Sherr33 · 23/01/2025 14:52

Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

Hi @Daniki I had spotting for a whole week when I was 6 weeks, it stopped at 7+1 and I've had 3 scans since it started and all have been good. Keeping everything crossed for you x

Daniki · 27/02/2025 10:52

@Hopefullyonedaysoon thanks for that 🙏 it's such a stressful time! Hopefully will get some good news in the morning at scan to tide me over to my clinics scan next week 🤣🤞🏻

Elena3 · 27/02/2025 10:55

Hi @Daniki all the best for your scan xx I haven't had any spotting apart from a teeeny tiny light pink drop somewhere around week 5. Have you tried using the pessaries via back entrance? 😅 I just find it way less messy.
I have read that spotting is common and apparently normal though!

Daniki · 27/02/2025 11:00

@Elena3 unfortunately I can't go that route as I have a "Barbie bum" 🤣 I have Crohn's disease so had my bowel and rectum removed a few years ago! Yea this was two instances today of tiny amounts but it just triggers me so badly due to previous losses so 🤞🏻 xx

OneWaryCat · 27/02/2025 11:52

Can I ask what it means when people say 7+3 and 6+2? Is it the number of weeks and days you are?

Great to see you here @Daniki! I'm sure if it's just a bit of pink spotting it won't be anything to worry about. Yay for the CB 3+ weeks. I didn't realise what level of HCG it records, so will look it up. I haven't had any bloods. Feeling a bit in the dark but roll on next week. If it's good news I plan to tell my mum and stepdad in person the next day and I want that so badly. ❤

Daniki · 27/02/2025 11:57

@OneWaryCat yep so 6+2, 6 weeks & 2days! You'll find that's how they'll measure you at apps etc! Yea so it's a high enough threshold for 3+ your hcg needs to be 2753+! Mine was 350 after my last test on the 18th so that cheered me up 🤣 is your scan next week? X

OneWaryCat · 27/02/2025 12:01

Yes it's Thursday 6th but not until early afternoon..... will feel like a long day!

I've not had many symptoms until now but started to little bit dizzy/nauseous at times but nothing too severe, and need to pee all the time. My boobs and nipples are also tender.

I'm out for dinner with friends tonight and need to try keep it to myself which is tricky as ttc is often the hot topic right now, outside of work etc. I just want to make sure it's definitely in there first!

Daniki · 27/02/2025 12:08

@OneWaryCat I know how ya feel! I didn't tell my friends about this transfer as just easier to avoid questions and not think about it until I know what's going on myself! I'm in for a scan that day too actually with the ivf clinic 🤣 god the first few weeks are so long, I'd love to be put to sleep until due date 🤣

@Sherr33 No worries and yes she was very thorough. I kind of wish she was my midwife but apparently I have been assigned another midwife so hoping she’s just as good!

I have been an emotional mess this week. I had a bleed on Monday. EPU were unhelpful but I have a private scan booked through the IVF clinic before my next IVIg infusion tomorrow.

How have you been? You have a scan today right? Hope it goes well!

@OneWaryCat yes, I believe you get to choose from nearby hospitals. I had 2 options - the better rated hospital was 45 mins away on a good day but is next door from where I work. I was worried about the distance in case there was an emergency and also with shared care and the frequency of appointments I didn’t want the hassle so chose the closest one (5 mins away).

if you are unsure where to self refer from, speak to your GP as they sent the link over to me.

@Lauralozzle 8 weeks is a long wait! Doesn’t your clinic scan you before the infusion? I get IVIg infusion and they always recommend a scan before the infusion (otherwise I could be wasting £2k every time). I’ve had 4 scans since finding out I’m pregnant but the clinic still recommended I have a scan before the IVIg infusion tomorrow.

Given how late your scan is, I would definitely get the ball rolling with the GP and midwife since you should have a booking appointment between 8-10 weeks.

@Elena My GP referred me for shared care before the midwife did but from what I’m told it is extra care from a Dr and not just the midwife. I think they might also do more scans if need be. For me I think if gives me extra reassurance that everything is ok then I’m all for it otherwise I will also find it a hassle tbh. Someone I know told me the shared care appointments start after 20 weeks.

Edited

I've been discharged from my clinic today 9w. (Baby is measuring 8w2d) I have my booking appointment next week Friday so I feel 50/50 as will now have to wait for the 12 week mark for next scan! I hope in that time everything goes how it should be. Really don't need anymore stress. I feel like we never completely relax! @Feelingmindful

@OneWaryCat CB3+ is great news!

@daisyjones03 The month wait is difficult isn’t it! I’ve held off getting another test for now. I’m telling myself I generally always bleed before test date on a fresh cycle and my last natural modified FET I started bleeding on test date. No bleeding so far, so, that’s telling me the test is correct! My clinics test date is always quite late - 13dp5dt.

@Elena3 I’m with CARE in Nottingham. I think they usually do them about 7 weeks but the earliest they could do was 8.

@feeling I’m sorry to hear about your bleed and that the EPU haven’t been very helpful! Fingers crossed it all goes well tomorrow.

No, the clinic won’t scan before the infusion this time. I had a positive test Tuesday on OTD - I’m only 4w6d so probably wouldn’t see anything on a scan anyway. My next infusion is in 4 weeks on the same date as the viability scan and the scan will be first then.

Yes, I think I will get the ball rolling with the GP. That can be my chore for tomorrow!

@Daniki Welcome! 🤗 Fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow. I think spotting can be ok and 3+ on CB sounds positive. I’ve not had any spotting but I’m still very early.

@Sherr33 That’s great news that the clinic gave discharged you! It’s so difficult to relax isn’t it. I never truly understood how hard this part is - more anxiety after heaps of anxiety!

Feelingmindful · 27/02/2025 21:05

@Sherr33 oh that is amazing news and sounds like baby is slowly catching up! It is definitely bittersweet being discharged and losing the support. The 12 weeks scan seems soooo far away.

Feelingmindful · 27/02/2025 21:08

Thank you! Ahh that makes sense. How are you finding the intralipids so far? I almost went for the intralipids but was worried about side effects and also my results showed the impact wasn’t as significant with intralipids as IVIg

@Feelingmindful They’re ok, hubby thinks they look like pva glue. It takes a few hours, so it’s a bit boring, and like last time ended up falling asleep when I got home for a few hours. That’s really the only side effect I have, otherwise I can’t really tell, just trusting the process.

I hope by 12 weeks it's caught up well!

I'm a bit worried because starting from next week I'm reducing my pessaries and I've already started my taper for steroids. I get so scared because I feel everything is currently okay because of all these meds and what if my body can't support it on its own. Have your clinic advised on when youl stop yours? What meds are you on? @Feelingmindful

OP posts:
Sherr33 · 28/02/2025 06:53

Is anyone else starting there plan to reduce meds etc ? X

OP posts:
Daniki · 28/02/2025 07:35

@Sherr33 ask your clinic can you continue your meds until after 12 weeks? My clinic usually stops at 7 weeks but I will be continuing until well after 12 clinics all going well! My other consultant said she might keep me on steroids the whole pregnancy.

Scan now this morning at 10 so nervous 🙈

Ahhh sounds very similar to IVIg, they have to give antihistamines by IV first but takes around 4-5 hours and makes me drowsy for a couple of days after. Thankfully today should be my last one.

Feelingmindful · 28/02/2025 08:11

Can you ask your clinic to give it to you for 12 weeks? How much are you reducing the pessaries by?

I have had progesterone tests a couple of times since starting treatment to make sure the levels are ok and will be testing again today due to the bleed. Can you ask for a progesterone blood test via your gp or midwife before reducing?

I have IVIg infusions every 4 weeks for the first 3 months. 2 pressures and 1 injection for the progesterone and 2 oestrogen patches every other day. When I was discharged the clinic sent enough to last me until I’m 12 weeks.

I did ask if I can start tapering down starting at 12 weeks but they said no :-( and have literally just given me enought ti cover me till week 12. What dose steroids are u on? And are you also on blood thinner injections and progesterone too? I think my concern is stopping aspirin prednisolone and progesterone 😔 what week will you be stopping yours?

Omg good luck with ur scan today!!

Yh mine did the same yesterday just enough to get me to week 12. Can I ask my midwife about this? I thought it was all based off my clinic. I might just ask for a progesterone blood test first before completely stopping.

Daniki · 28/02/2025 08:41

@Sherr33 I'm on 20mg steroids, aspirin, 3 progesterone 400mg a day, estrogen, 200mg plaqnueil and will be starting the blood thinning injections today if my scan goes well and shows a pregnancy\pregnancy in right place 🙈 if you're really uncomfortable stopping stand your ground and see what the say. I think they go of general guidelines but really should be looking at people's individual cases! I know I'd be uncomfortable coming off everything aswell, really bugs me that we have to go through this instead of just a handy stress free pregnancy!

Daniki · 28/02/2025 11:41

Had my scan and everything is fine. Pregnancy confirmed, heartbeat seen 🥰 measuring bang on, which is great as I was a week behind from the get go last time 🙈 now to wait for clinic to send me the script for Clexane injections and hope that helps me keep this pregnancy 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏

Yay amazing news @Daniki ! Xx

Lauralozzle · 28/02/2025 14:45

@Daniki That’s wonderful news!!

Lauralozzle · 28/02/2025 16:55

I contacted my GP today, they’ve irritated me.

Receptionist booked my booking appointment which is at 10 weeks (earliest date they had, so glad I contacted them). That was sorted nicely.

I also asked about my thyroid if my meds would need increasing.

GP called later this afternoon - basically said the IVF clinic should have sorted this. GP has been managing my thyroid from the start, not the IVF clinic. Then started talking about how I would have shared care (kinda guessed this). So, they basically want to advise nothing and are passing the book back to CARE.

I have a blood test next week on Friday for my thyroid on my current dose, so I’ll keep it as it is at the moment. I’ll contact CARE and ask if I need to increase it after the blood test, and how regularly I should have blood tests to monitor it. I suspect they’ll say ask your GP! Worried though because if everything is ok at the scan I’ll be discharged with GP not wanting to do anything, and still waiting for my booking appointment with midwife. Thyroid issues can cause miscarriages so it’s stressing me out.

Urgh. This pregnancy stuff isn’t easy, is it?!
