Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

Hi Ladies, Hope you don't mind me joining. I'm due 24th October, FET was 5th Feb. My scan is the 5th March 6+5 weeks which I am really nervous about. I don't really have any symptoms other than my nipples a little sore now and again and tiredness. I worry lack of symptoms may mean something bad. Good luck with all your scans this week xx

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 25/02/2025 13:13

@FrostedFlake I'm so sorry to hear this, sending you so much love ❤️

OneWaryCat · 25/02/2025 13:54

Absolutely gutted for you @FrostedFlake. Wishing you so much luck and love for the future. x

FrostedFlake · 25/02/2025 14:42

Thanks everyone! The support means a lot! My HCG came back in the thousands so they want me to go to EPAU as they think it could be a pregnancy of an unknown location 😩. It’s sad but I hope it resolves quickly so we can move on and start again ❤️

Lauralozzle · 25/02/2025 17:30

Hello, can I join?

Today was my OTD (13dp5dt) and for the first time in my life, I have a positive pregnancy test! Clinic say I’m 4 weeks 4 days pregnant with an estimated due date of 31st October (Halloween!).

This was my third egg collection and 6th embryo transfer (3rd FET). It all feels a bit unreal at the moment.

I used to be very active on these boards but gave it a bit of a break this past year, but I thought it’d be nice to come back.

@FrostedFlake I’m so sorry. Wishing you all the luck and best wishes in the future.

Sherr33 · 25/02/2025 17:57

@FrostedFlake I'm so sorry.x

Welcome to all the newbies and I hope everyone else doing well.

Has anyone had their first appointment through midwife team? Just wondering how it went and what happens at these appointments x

@FrostedFlake I am so incredibly sorry. I hope you get some closure on this xxxx

Elena3 · 26/02/2025 08:20

Hi @Bailey92 and @Lauralozzle , welcome!
Hi @Sherr33 , I am also wondering about that appointment. On 13th February I received a letter about my NHS dating scan (27th March), the letter was saying that one of the midwives should be in touch with me soon to arrange a 'booking appointment' (that's how the first one is called apparently) which takes placer earlier than the scan. I was trying to get in touch with my local community midwives' office, was 36th in line and then my call got cut off 😅However I was given access to a live chat with midwives, so was told it would 'soon be arranged'. I also don't really know what to expect, but apparently it is just gathering information from you - family history, weight/height, etc...?

HopefulSibling · 26/02/2025 08:55

Good morning all,

How is everyone doing?

Things have changed since I had my son in 2018, now you can self refer to a midwife - via your local NHS pregnancy service (hospital etc). I then had an email from the local team booking me in for the 'booking appointment' - I've actually been assigned a midwife who was my student midwife with my son, so we got chatting and she reminded me that it'll be taking my bloods, urine sample, family & medical history. I'm seeing her next Tuesday afternoon - and she said to expect it to last about an hour.

Interesting you have a date for your 12 week scan @Elena3 - I wonder what triggered that?

Elena3 · 26/02/2025 09:00

Hi @HopefulSibling , I actually self-referred and then just received the letter about 12 week scan but nothing about this 'booking appointment', I don't know why this happened 😅Oh, it is nice to have the same midwife who was a student midwife with your son! :)

Since Monday my morning sickness disappeared, which is a bliss. Feeling very productive and energetic actually, after 4 days of complete limbo x

HopefulSibling · 26/02/2025 09:07

@Elena3 ooh interesting! I wonder why you received that before your booking appointment?! How far along are you? Perhaps it was to make sure you got the scan booked in the right week?

I had assumed my midwife would book the scan next week... but maybe I'll receive an NHS letter?! All a bit of a waiting game... one negative to being discharged from the comfort of fertility team!

Glad to hear you're feeling better, make the most of that extra energy - but don't over exert yourself 😊

Elena3 · 26/02/2025 09:21

@HopefulSibling I think it is just one of the loopholes in the system, I am only 7 weeks today, but received that letter on 13th February! x

daisyjones03 · 26/02/2025 16:02

@Elena3 glad to hear you’re feeling better! Did you take any anti-nausea medication or did it just go away? I had a horrific day yesterday but it’s a bit more mellow today.

I registered with a midwife over the weekend but not hear anything yet.

@Lauralozzle welcome and congrats! Sounds like you’ve been on quite a journey, so glad you’re able to get some positive news

@Bailey92 welcome and congrats to you too! I get massive symptom tracking anxiety, but it does sound like it varies so much between people and even from day to day! hopefully the scan can give you some reassurance although the wait always feels like forever! Wishing you all the best

xx

Elena3 · 26/02/2025 16:09

@daisyjones03 It's just gone by itself surprisingly since Monday! But I tried to eat a cooked broccoli and egg stir fry and it made me very nauseous. The medication is supposed to arrive tomorrow (just in case). Sorry to hear about your day yesterday, would you consider anti sickness meds? x

daisyjones03 · 26/02/2025 17:25

@Elena3 perhaps ease in a bit more with crackers and hummus or toast? That was the bulk of my diet yesterday!

definitely, I think I might get some meds this evening so I have some available

xx

Elena3 · 26/02/2025 17:38

@daisyjones03 yes, I noticed that crackers/rusks/crisps/toast is something that my body tolerates really good at the moment, just trying to make sure I am getting some greens, but it seems not to agree with my body very well at the moment. Or just having a normal size meal in general, it really feels like small bites is the way to go lol

Feelingmindful · 26/02/2025 18:22

I had my miwdwife appointment today. Took about an hour.

I had self referred online via my local hospital’s maternity website. They then booked me in for the booking appointment via the hospital app.

To summarise:

  • IVF details to work out due date but since I had a scan at EPU last week and the fetus gestational age was bigger she went with that instead but at the point it didn’t really matter as it would change during the 12 week scan
  • Took Urine sample, bloods and blood pressure.
  • Booked my next midwife appointment at 16 weeks
  • referred me for the 12 week scan and said to expect an appointment in the next few days
  • referred me for shared preg care (so alternative appointments with a doctor in antenatal and midwife’s I think every 2 weeks). This is apparently the normal process for IVF pregnancies
  • took family details down such as health (e.g diabetes) etc
  • took height and weight to measure bmi
  • routine questions on mental health etc and asked about my husband and whether he was supportive or whether there was any abuse.

That’s all I can remember 😂but hopefully that helps!

@Feelingmindful aw thank you for the breakdown. My booking appointment is next week Friday. No wonder they said an hours appointment they really do go through it all don't they. Hope you have been well otherwise x

Wown super helpful @Feelingmindful thank you.

So you can basically self refer and choose your hospital? Most round me have an 'inadequate' rating for maternity services so not feeling great. I could go to Kings as that is where my treatment is but it's quite far for me.

@daisyjones03 @Elena3 All I seem to want to eat in the morning is rice krispies, nice and plain.

My early viability scan is 6 March and honestly I just need it to come around already so I can get some reassurance. I am going to do another clear blue 'how many weeks' test tomorrow and hoping it shows 3+ weeks. My clinic doesn't do blood tests so feel bit in the dark.

Lauralozzle · 27/02/2025 06:14

@Sherr33 @Elena3 Thanks for the welcome 🤗

@daisyjones03 Thanks, yes it’s been a very long journey (nearly 6 years TTC, 2 years of IVF). Thankful we managed to finally get a positive test, although I’m bricking it at the same time. Half expecting to see blood any minute.

@Feelingmindful That's really useful to know re your booking appointment.

My scan with the IVF clinic isn’t until 8 weeks 4 days! I’m not sure how I’ll cope for the next 4 weeks! I was so sure this cycle hadn’t worked, that I only had one test and didn’t get anymore. I keep staring at it, I’ve taken a picture of it, it’s quite a strong positive but I’m thinking maybe I’ll get one of the Clear Blue detector ones with dates for my peace of mind.

I’m back in the clinic today, but that’s for my intralipid infusion. Then nothing until the 25th March!

I hadn’t even thought about registering with midwife yet. Can’t self refer here, so will need to contact my GP. Probably should do that sooner rather than later because I imagine they’ll want to review my thyroid.

OneWaryCat · 27/02/2025 06:23

Got my early morning CB 3+ weeks today. Now only a week to go until the scan. 🤞

daisyjones03 · 27/02/2025 07:46

@OneWaryCat yay, great news!

@Lauralozzle ooo that is a long wait, my next scan will also be about a month away and I’ll try resist getting one in between but I’ve not been great at that so far 🙈

Elena3 · 27/02/2025 09:25

@Feelingmindful thank you, that's a very helpful breakdown as what to expect! Appointments every 2 weeks is intense, I wonder what exactly are they going to do every 2 weeks considering NHS does only 2 scans. I hope it is not just some kind of routine repetitive questions every 2 weeks.

@Lauralozzle my IVF clinic scan is 8 weeks and 6 days actually, I wonder if we are with the same clinic. I am with St Guys in London. I couldn't wait for so long and had early viability scan last Sunday. Thanks for sharing your story by the way x

Feelingmindful · 27/02/2025 10:01

@Sherr33 No worries and yes she was very thorough. I kind of wish she was my midwife but apparently I have been assigned another midwife so hoping she’s just as good!

I have been an emotional mess this week. I had a bleed on Monday. EPU were unhelpful but I have a private scan booked through the IVF clinic before my next IVIg infusion tomorrow.

How have you been? You have a scan today right? Hope it goes well!

@OneWaryCat yes, I believe you get to choose from nearby hospitals. I had 2 options - the better rated hospital was 45 mins away on a good day but is next door from where I work. I was worried about the distance in case there was an emergency and also with shared care and the frequency of appointments I didn’t want the hassle so chose the closest one (5 mins away).

if you are unsure where to self refer from, speak to your GP as they sent the link over to me.

@Lauralozzle 8 weeks is a long wait! Doesn’t your clinic scan you before the infusion? I get IVIg infusion and they always recommend a scan before the infusion (otherwise I could be wasting £2k every time). I’ve had 4 scans since finding out I’m pregnant but the clinic still recommended I have a scan before the IVIg infusion tomorrow.

Given how late your scan is, I would definitely get the ball rolling with the GP and midwife since you should have a booking appointment between 8-10 weeks.

@Elena My GP referred me for shared care before the midwife did but from what I’m told it is extra care from a Dr and not just the midwife. I think they might also do more scans if need be. For me I think if gives me extra reassurance that everything is ok then I’m all for it otherwise I will also find it a hassle tbh. Someone I know told me the shared care appointments start after 20 weeks.

Came to tentatively mark my spot here have been reading the whole time and not commenting incase I jinx myself 🙈 have a scan in the morning with the EPU, should be 6+2. Have had a tiny bit of pink spotting today so I am expecting the worst! My hcg levels were low at the start but did rise more than expected and I also got a clearblue 3+ yesterday which was what I was hoping for as the threshold is the just under what my levels should be of increasing correctly!

Anyone had any spotting yet? I know with the pessaries it can irritate cervix, so hoping it's just that 🙈🤞🏻
