Due to start Stims any day now…! Anyone else?

Hi all,

I know there is a November thread but most ladies seem further ahead. I’m waiting for AF to show (4 days if she behaves) and then start stims

This is my first cycle so would love to go through this with as many as possible.

36yr old, AMH 1.9, AFC 3 and severe MFI. We’re having IVF with ICSI, DP is providing a sample next week as well to be frozen as a precaution incase he doesn’t produce many on the day.

@OrientalPinkLily thanks! Mine was pencilled in for the 4th from the start, and they said today that's looking very likely. But I have another scan Monday that will confirm it.

@Magix86 amazing! Im also staying in same dose of meds - though I think im on highest dose anyway.
Can't help with the meds as im on Buserelin and Gonal-F and haven't had any reactions really. Just the one bruise from where I did one in a rush.

I started a December thred as I couldn't find anyone on the same time frame December seems to be a quite month for IVF, I'm guessing due to he Christmas closures and tight cut off dates to start

@Confusedddddddd do you mind me asking what sizes your follicles were today? The effect of the injection went after a couple of hours so that has eased my mind a little. Nasty injection tho, compared to stims!
I'm still not feeling too much in the way of twinges etc, some minor feelings here and there but I wonder if half of that is in my head 😅 I'm just taking it easy for now anyway, but might go for a walk later on.

@Magix86 they didn't tell me. I had to ask to even know how many follicles. They just said 5 really good ones, 4 decent ones and 4 small ones that may or may not catch up.

I have actually started feeling more since yesterday afternoon but it's all in my ovary that has 3x 4cm cysts so that ovary is already 4 times the size it should be and now it's even bigger because of the stims.

Oh, they didn't give me an estimated date for EC... Well it will be somewhere around w/c 9th December I believe but tbc on my first scan day @Magix86 @Confusedddddddd

Did my first injection this evening. Took a surprising amount of conviction to actually stab myself even though I am not scared of needles.
Once I got my courage up I didn't feel a thing though, so that's a big relief. Little drop of blood afterwards but that might be because I was faffing about a bit once the needle was in and I had to adjust my grip to reach the button that injects. Will remember to hold it differently tomorrow.

@Omgdnswv well done! I had my first today too and also had to pluck up a lot of courage which is insane as I’m a vet and happily jab animals daily. Karma maybe! 😂

@ivfjourneyandme I've been doing injections like that for my husband for a month now as he is a bit scared of needles, so I was sure I'd be fine with them myself until the moment to actually do it came. My husband does say that the injections are very painful, so at least now we know for sure that it's personal differences and not bad skill on my part 😅

Scan done, 38 follicles so that explains the bloating!

Nurse was a bit rushed and didn't really get into how many were likely to be good, she just said they were varying sizes and we'd see on Monday how they are progressing.

She said I'll get an email later with the details after the consultant reviews the scan so hopefully there will be more info in that!

@Idabelle 38 sounds like loads!

I had my appointment this morning, about a dozen follicles, all around 8-10mm. My doctor is very happy with that, she said everything that is at 10 is basically guaranteed to mature, she has lowered my dose ever so slightly and from tonight I'll also have to inject ovulation blockers. She said the earliest possible collection date would be next Monday, the latest possible one next week thursday. If they were to collect on Monday then the embryo transfer would be on Saturday. My next appointment is this Friday, so I guess I will find out for sure then.

6 follicles but measuring small so increased dose from 300iu to 450iu. Also starting the ovulating blockers tomorrow which will be day 6 of stims

@Omgdnswv yes I'm really feeling it now tbh.

A dozen is great, that seems to be the sweet spot for quantity/ quality.

@ivfjourneyandme oh I'll have to check out the other thread too. Hopefully the meds change will help them speed up their growth!

Had my other scan this morning, I seem to have around 16 follicles ranging in size from 15 to 18mm each.
Collection is now scheduled for Monday noon, transfer on Saturday.
I have to admit that I had a little cry of happiness in the car, especially since between appointments I tend to start to doubt and worry that something will malfunction and they might all ovulate away or something. I know that is irrational and I've been given meds specifically to protect from that, but I don't think I'll really feel confident until the follicles are under constant supervision in the lab (if even then)

@Omgdnswv that’s fantastic news. I hear you about not being able to relax between each stage. It’s one hell of a ride!

@Omgdnswv good news! I also had my second scan today and I am booked for EC on Monday too.
If everything goes well and there is a good embryo, transfer will be on Friday 13th as my clinuc only does Monday, Wednesday and Friday transfers and ECs.
It will be day 4 but they said that they monitor results and differences between day 4 and day 5 embryos and they don't see an impact.

@OrientalPinkLily really interesting to see us being on the same schedule, except for the day4/5 difference. That'll mean you'd be able to find out if you were successful one day ahead of me, I'm quite jealous, I'm not very patient 😂

I think if my scan goes ok on Monday I may be a Friday 13th EC…..

@OrientalPinkLily how did yours go? Mine was alright. The moment of the anaesthetic happening felt quite pleasant actually.
This morning I was really uncomfortable, it felt like someone had inflated two small balloons inside of me. Now I feel better, slight ache similar to period cramps, just that they're off to the sides.
Tomorrow they'll call to let us know how well fertilisation went.
Probably won't be online much today, just waiting for my husband to make me a soup and then we'll put on an old Disney film and I have a suspicion that I might fall asleep during

Hi @Omgdnswv it went OK I believe. 11 eggs collected. My clinic does light aneasthesia, so I was feeling most of it just not very painful. I'm very sleepy, nodding off all day.
Can't wait for the phone call tomorrow to tell us how many were fertilised.

Towards the evening I did feel quite achey in my ovaries, but this morning it's all gone. I didn't actually sleep yesterday, which surprised me. This morning I missed the phone call from the clinic as I didn't expect it until 10-11 ish, I think when they called I was lying on the bathroom floor to get the progesterone suppository in properly 😅so they rang my husband 5 Minutes later. All 16 Follicles are mature, 13 were fertilised. They have 4 of them in a culture to grow an embryo for the transfer on Saturday, the rest have been frozen (We're not in the UK and by law they cannot create more embryos than they plan to implant, so there's an algorithm that calculates for each patient how many follicles need to be put into a culture to get the desired number to transfer + a safety buffer so you don't end up with nothing).

How are you feeling this morning? Have they called you yet with your results?
