Hi all,

I know there is a November thread but most ladies seem further ahead. I’m waiting for AF to show (4 days if she behaves) and then start stims

This is my first cycle so would love to go through this with as many as possible.

36yr old, AMH 1.9, AFC 3 and severe MFI. We’re having IVF with ICSI, DP is providing a sample next week as well to be frozen as a precaution incase he doesn’t produce many on the day.

Much love to all the incredibly brave ladies on this journey ❤️

@Omgdnswv how are you getting on? Have you started meds for the next transfer yet?
What are you doing for the summer? Are you planning to go anywhere nice after your next transfer?

Omgdnswv · 11/07/2025 13:26

@OrientalPinkLily yes, I've been taking my meds for a while now, I had my period on the 1st of July. I think the transfer will be next week Saturday, but I'lll find out for sure on Monday. Still haven't made up my mind on whether to try the embryo glue or not, I'll need to decide this weekend to sign the paperwork and take to the appointment.
Not sure if we will do a proper holiday this year. Might do a daytrip or two during the summer but if we were to do a holiday it would probably be in September when prices are more reasonable and the world isn't quite that hot anymore (but still warm enough to feel like summer).
Are you going anywhere? Last summer break before the babies?

OrientalPinkLily · 11/07/2025 17:14

@Omgdnswv great! All the best on this transfer!
How are you going to decide re embryo glue? If its not very expensive it does worth try, right? I mean, why not, it's not like it'll harm the embryo or anything.
Not booked anything for holidays at the moment. We are also thinking to go in September, avoid school holidays and book it for a bit cheaper. I will have my '12 week' scan at almost 14 weeks pregnant on 1st August so I'm very much thinking about my scans and appointments and less so of holidays.
If everything continues to be OK and 12 week scan is good, I bet I'll want to somewhere!

Tinkerbell098 · 14/07/2025 12:58

Hi all can I join please? We have submitted all our forms and done SA and AMH. I am awaiting my period to have my AFC. I am approaching 40 now so any success stories at my age are greatly appreciated as I am a nervous wreck! We had previous success with IVF (frozen) with my daughter who’s turning two in a couple of months. We didn’t have any frozen embryos left from that round so having to go through stims again.

Omgdnswv · 17/07/2025 07:27

@OrientalPinkLily we chose to try the embryo glue, just so that if the transfer fails we don't have to wonder if it could have been different if we had tried it.
Transfer is indeed this Saturday. I came across an interesting statistic about increased IVF success rate if patients saw a hospital clown (the cure all medicine of laughter). I want to try and find lots of funny things to laugh at on the weekend (will listen to "no such thing as a fish", where the statistics was mentioned, on the way to and from the clinic) but I find most comedies are just not funny. If you have any recommendations for funny films or such, they'd be very welcome.

@Tinkerbell098 welcome to the thread, I can't help with success stories near 40 as I'm only just 30 and haven't had any success yet despite the "easier" age. Any idea when you'll start stims yet?

OrientalPinkLily · 17/07/2025 13:55

@Omgdnswv sounds good! Hope it all goes well on Saturday! And I'm with you on the embryo glue, why have the doubts later? But I hope and believe that this time it will work!
You don't find typical comedy funny, it's a but difficult to recommend something then 😊 I laughed to tears with Miranda, it's a British TV series, you can find it on bbc iplayer I think.
I also laugh a lot with Melissa McCarthy's Spy film.
I also like a British comedian, James Acaster, if you find any clips. I love British stand up comedy in general, hope it is your cup of tea??

@Tinkerbell098 I am 39 and had a successful transfer in May. Take it one step at a time and try not to stress for everything at once... I wish you all the best on your journey!

OrientalPinkLily · 19/07/2025 09:47

@Omgdnswv all the best for today! Hope all goes well and wish for a sticky one!
Let me know how transfer was, you OK?

Omgdnswv · 19/07/2025 16:19

@OrientalPinkLily the transfer was alright. The photo of the blastocyst looked a bit squashed, but they said that's because it was taken when it was still expanding from having been frozen.

The transfusion was okay too. We finished listening to an episode of "no such thing as a fish", so I was laughing right after the transfer, and this morning we rematches an episode of the "goes wrong show". Might do another episode this evening just to really get all the laughs in that I can.

OrientalPinkLily · 19/07/2025 21:33

@Omgdnswv did you have the transfusions after or before the transfer? How long does the transfusion take?
Glad to hear it all went well and that you have found things to make you laugh!!

Omgdnswv · 20/07/2025 06:37

@OrientalPinkLily
They did the transfusion immediately after the transfer, took around 30-40 minutes, but I didn't look at the time when it started

Omgdnswv · 25/07/2025 07:51

So, of course I've been testing early already...
Day3 past transfer there was nothing, but day 4 there was an absolute squinter of a line. I didn't really trust my eyes until my husband confirmed that he saw something too (if he held it into bright sunlight and at the right angle). I have to say I started crying.
Today (Day 5) that squinted had developed into a line that can actually be seen (and photographed). I'm actually shocked at how much darker the line is today! I'll add a photo of today's line and yesterday's squinter (not that it shows up on the camera), might need to wait for mumsnet to approve it first, not sure.
@OrientalPinkLily how are you getting on? I know there's not much official stuff happening until the scan, but are you having any new symptoms maybe? Talking about names yet? Told anyone?

Omgdnswv · 25/07/2025 07:54

Forgot to actually attach the photo. Please ignore the state of the windowsill, it needs sweeping almost every day cause the cats like to sit there and shed their hair 🙄

Due to start Stims any day now…! Anyone else?
OrientalPinkLily · 27/07/2025 20:21

@Omgdnswv apologies it took me a couple of days to read your messages. I was thinking of you but had a couple rough days. I suffer from heartburn the past few days and I am uncomfortable all the time. Luckily it's mostly through the day and I can sleep at night. I'm 13 weeks now and I was hoping that by entering the second trimester any symptoms would disappear but I got some new...

Oh congratulations, I can definitely see the line on the left test on the photo. Is it even darker today?? You got a squint early, mine showed at 6days and my husband still cannot see that line, he says it's blank 😆 but started getting darker and darker. It got really dark and strong at 14 days post transfer.

Oh I'm so happy to hear you got a positive!!! When is your official test day??

My scan is on Friday, I'll be 13+6. Yes, we are thinking about names, both male and female, I've decided I won't fond out the genders, we'll have to have all scenarios covered regarding names 😊 I have been looking at gadgets and tips for parents of multiples but I am not buying anything yet, I'm waiting for the scan.
When will your due date be??

Omgdnswv · 28/07/2025 06:43

@OrientalPinkLily it's been getting darker very gradually, but I looked at other line progression photos and they usually have 2 or 3 days that look the same. Today the line made another big step though.
My official blood test is on Thursday and according to my pregnancy tracker app, the due date should be April the 6th.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with heartburn so much. I would assume that with twins you'll get much stronger symptoms as there's two in there producing hormones and taking up space.
I've just got some odd twinges here and there, slight lower back ache, and sore boobs. I also get hungry more, but that started before the transfer and I had it previous cycles too, so I blame that on the meds for now.
I wish you all the best for the scan, that must be so exciting, finally being able to see your babies! Sensible to hold off from buying any expensive twin specific stuff until after though. Fingers crossed that the scan will show exactly what you want it to show.

Due to start Stims any day now…! Anyone else?
OrientalPinkLily · 28/07/2025 07:23

@Omgdnswv funnily enough, i didn't have many symptoms in the first trimester, no nausea, no food aversion etc. I was feeling very tired and had sore boob's and that was it. So, I thought: that's going to be easy 🫣 but now I'm getting extra symptoms, like food aversions and heartburn. As you say, with it being a twin pregnancy, my body produces more hcg and babies are taking more space so my symptoms might last a bit longer. Anyhow, as long as they are healthy and growing I'll be OK.

Great line progression!! Yes, the line darkens every 2-3 days, it was the same for me, i wanted to put it on my yesterday's message but forgot.
Thursday! Not long left, exciting!
Very happy for you!

OrientalPinkLily · 29/07/2025 05:56

@Omgdnswv will you have to do any more transfusions? (Sorry you might have already told me but can't remember if you're done with them or need more?)

Omgdnswv · 29/07/2025 06:29

@OrientalPinkLily they way it's been explained to me, I'll have them every 2 weeks until the placenta is properly developed (around month 3).
I suspect I'll pick up a pouch of intralipid when I'm there for my blood test and then go to the GP within the next few days for him to lay the IV

OrientalPinkLily · 29/07/2025 18:22

@Omgdnswv ah right, ok. If its every 2 weeks, it won't be that many times until week 12. Sounds good. Wish you all the best!!

OrientalPinkLily · 31/07/2025 14:26

@Omgdnswv how is everything? Have you had your blood test? Do you know when you'll have an ultrasound?

Omgdnswv · 31/07/2025 14:39

@OrientalPinkLily I got the call with the results about an hour ago, my HCG is at 782, which seems to be a nice and good value for week 4-5. I then called my gynaecologist and they have booked me in for Monday, but there won't be a scan yet, just bloods and maybe other checks like urin, blood pressure, etc.
I'll also call the GP tomorrow to make sure everything is fine for the intralipid transfusion on Monday too, I've picked up a pouch today.

Let me know how your scan is tomorrow

OrientalPinkLily · 31/07/2025 14:43

@Omgdnswv sounds great! Congratulations again!
Yes, it's too early for a scan, the safest is around 7weeks so that a heartbeat can be detected.
It all sounds very positive, very happy for you.
Are you excited??

Omgdnswv · 31/07/2025 15:02

@OrientalPinkLily I'm very excited, I'm also full of drive, I am thinking of rearranging things, finishing projects, tidying, etc. But also most afternoons I really fancy a nap. Maybe I should get on with things quickly before the sleepiness turns into proper fatigue.
My husband is hoping to tell his parents soon, I don't think I want to tell anyone for a little while yet.

OrientalPinkLily · 01/08/2025 18:09

@Omgdnswv well, I think that the second trimester can be really good and even if you might suffer from fatigue and nausea in the first trimester, symptoms usually go away and you regain your energy. So, you can have a lazy first trimester and a more active second.
My scan went well today, both twins look and measure fine. Twin 2 which was smaller and 6 days behind at 7 week scan, has caught up and it's even measuring one day ahead!
Did my bloods for different syndromes too, results in about a week.

Omgdnswv · 01/08/2025 19:31

@OrientalPinkLily I'm so glad and impressed with your twins. How do they keep them apart? Just wondering how they can tell its the "small" one that is now a day ahead.

OrientalPinkLily · 02/08/2025 12:41

@Omgdnswv ha I had the same query, how do they know which is twin 1 and which is twin 2. It's got to do with their location, twin 1 is the one which is closer to the cervix and at the moment it's one above the other (like they are in a bunk bed). I guess even when they get bigger, twin 1 will always be closer to the cervix as it's sack is lower.
Have you had your transfusion? Everything OK?
