Hi just wanted to ask if anyone is in similar position and tested positive recently.
I'm 5 weeks tomorrow via our 3rd IVF icsi cycle and can't believe it's happening..
I'm pinching myself every day since BFP!
We did try 7 years and i never thought i ever be able to say "I'm pregnant "

My symptoms now are feeling a bit sick and just trying to take things easy.
This wait for first scan seems like it's ages away!

Hope everyone is still doing well? 🙂

nizo1245 · 06/12/2023 15:31

@Jupiteer all good over here thanks. Starting to feel very heavy!
It's crazy to think it could be any day now.

Feeling quite ready, hospital bags are packed and most things in the house are ready.

Are you feeling ready?

@AlisonDanuta you're a bit further ahead, any news yet or still waiting?

Jupiteer · 11/12/2023 09:45

Hi @nizo1245 , so exciting to get to this point, doesn't feel real does it!
I'm the same, getting all the aches and pains now but feel lucky all the same.
How are you feeling about th birth?
I've agreed for induction at 39.5 weeks which is scary but at least avoids a Xmas day baby, hoping to go into labour before then 🤞

Vil · 11/12/2023 12:52

Hi ladies best of luck over the next few weeks we are due on the 26th so we’re hopping for an early baby but will see!

She’s measuring quite big and heavy so we’re being monitored so might go down another route if recommended.

hope you’re all ok and feeling positive and ready !!

xxx

nizo1245 · 11/12/2023 14:31

@Jupiteer it really doesn't feel real to have made it this far.

Feeling relatively positive about birth. It's so weird kind of waiting for something to happen and actually hoping to be in pain soon!

Where I live the earliest induction they would offer is 40 weeks, but they're encouraging me to try and go naturally if possible.
I can have a sweep at 40 weeks if nothing has happened yet, so I'll definitely take that.

How are you feeling about a potential induction?

@Vil our boy has been measuring big too. My fundal measurement is always normal, but growth scans have put him up around 95th percentile. No mention of C section from the consultant though, they didn't seem concerned at all.

Hopefully will be able to manage a normal delivery. The thought of a C section terrifies be a little bit.

I've been eating dates and using my birthing ball as much as possible, but I suppose he'll decide he's coming when he's ready. I'm fully expecting a Sod's Law situation and to be in labour all of Christmas Day 😭.

Vil · 11/12/2023 14:33

Hahah I feel exactly the same @nizo1245 were in the 85th percentile

No mention of a c section to us either but we’re considering electing for one, in part to get her out before Xmas too!

nizo1245 · 11/12/2023 17:10

@Vil I kind of wish I was open to a C section for that reason but I've just got this feeling about wanting to try and do it naturally.

I'm sure I'll probably regret that when I'm a few hours in 😂

We're trying to kind of forget all about Christmas at the moment and just see what happens.

I read somewhere that most babies come between 40 and 41 weeks, so we've almost resigned ourselves to it being between Christmas and new year, but trying to do all the little things that could encourage things to get moving a bit sooner.

Vil · 11/12/2023 17:56

Haha I do feel the same to be honest I’m prepared for a natural birth and wanted to do one but open to a c section as well now I know the size - we have another growth scan being booked in for this week so will decide then.

Im doing everything to try and get her moving, Swiss ball spicy food and sex haha ! Any tips for what you’re trying ?

nizo1245 · 11/12/2023 18:38

@Vil so far I'm doing 6 dates a day. My midwife said that's one of the things that has actual research behind it, even if it's a small study.

Lots of birthing ball exercises each day, and trying sex but it's not the easiest at this stage, I feel massive! 😂

Also going to start waking up and down the stairs sideways, apparently that helps open up the pelvis.

Also going to try watching some funny movies. I've read that laughing might help.
My midwife did say that doing lots of things you wouldn't normally do might stress you out more, and the goal is to feel safe and comfortable, so hoping a few comedy movies/Christmas movies and cozy nights on the sofa might help too.

Jupiteer · 12/12/2023 14:55

Hi @nizo1245 and @Vil
Glad to hear you are both doing well!
The only thing I have been doing which is meant to help with labour is expressing colostrum, have you tried this? I've been doing it since 37 weeks and started off getting just one drop per session but now can get 1ml per time which I have been freezing to take into hospital. It's meant to give you contractions also but I've had none...
Husband not keen to try sex as the thought of it with the baby in there freaks him out so we are not going there!
Will also try spicy food and pineapple but don't think they ar scientifically proven, and I don't like dates!
I'm sure one of us will have some good news soon x

browneyedgirl626 · 15/12/2023 01:49

Hey ladies, it's been a while!

I gave myself some time off Mumsnet to just enjoy being in the pregnancy bubble.

I wanted to let you know that last Thursday early hours of the morning my waters broke spontaneously, 39 weeks exactly! I spent all of Thursday in the Labour ward having on and off contractions and by the time my partner, mum and partners parents (visiting hours) left me that evening I was in excruciating pain. Because my waters had gone on their own the hospital limit internal examinations for fear of infection, anyway I demanded stronger drugs than co codamol (lol) so when they examined me I was 6-7cm dilated and my partner was only home 15 minutes when they called him back in and I was brought down to the delivery suite. I wanted an epidural but was refused as I was too far into active Labour, so I laboured on gas and air and morphine for 6ish hours. Ended up with vacuum and forceps delivery with episiotomy (cringe) but my little baby boy was born on Friday 8th at 7 pounds 2 at 39+1.

I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck for your deliveries and births. I was honestly so high off the drugs and screaming like a wild banshee, my hair was matted by the end but I was determined to get him out and something inside just takes over. I'm the most squeamish sensitive person out there and if I can go through that then you will all be fine!

The newborn stage is wild, cuddles and whistley kitten noises and endless feeding and sleep deprivation, it's a whole other challenge to be honest, mine had tongue tie which only got fixed yesterday so it made BF very painful and now I have to build up to getting my milk to come in again as I switched to FF because of his weight loss.

Anyway best of luck with it all, I will keep an eye on this thread to hear everyone else's birth stories x

nizo1245 · 15/12/2023 19:51

@browneyedgirl626 congratulations! Sounds like it was maybe a bit of a difficult experience, but hopefully totally worth it in the end!

I'm 39 weeks today and absolutely no signs of anything happening so far.

@Jupiteer I've been trying to express colostrum for about a week now but not getting anywhere yet. They did say it doesn't work for everyone and isn't an indicator of whether breastfeeding will work or not, but I'd feel a lot better if I could just get a couple of drops out.

Also been trying to do perineal massage but I can hardly reach and it just feels so uncomfortable. I've read mixed reviews on whether that worked for people so I don't feel too bad about not managing much of it so far.

Hope everyone is doing well. Can't believe we'll all have had our babies within a few weeks time!

browneyedgirl626 · 16/12/2023 13:04

@nizo1245 it was brutal to be honest! But it had an end point, and it was so so worth it to get my little boy 💙

Have you had any stirrings? Does your hospital have a plan for you? I had a sweep booked for 8th December but my waters went before then x

Jupiteer · 22/12/2023 14:33

Hi all
Happy due date @nizo1245
My little boy is here! Had a c section and finding the recovery painful but that's to be expected.
@browneyedgirl626 you are so right in your description of the newborn stage. The sleep deprivation is brutal. He will only sleep if one of us is holding him which is very difficult overnight. I'm breastfeeding which is going ok but have sore nipples which makes it harder.
I find the fact the IVF worked and he is here so overwhelming, I cry about it several times a day! Just feel so grateful 💕
Thinking of you all and looking forward to more baby news soon xxxx

nizo1245 · 22/12/2023 17:19

Happy due date @Jupiteer and congratulations!!!

I'm still very much pregnant. Midwife tried to do a sweep today but my cervix is closed.
Booked for another sweep after Christmas and an induction in the new year if nothing has happened yet but hopefully I'll go naturally before then.

I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed. I still feel like I've dreamt the whole thing up and I'm going to wake up at some point and find out the IVF didn't work.

Congratulations again!

browneyedgirl626 · 24/12/2023 16:12

Congratulations @Jupiteer I so relate to the feeling of overwhelm when you think about the journey to get here. I feel so so lucky. And tired 😂. I gave up on BF and have been pumping with an electric hands free pump which is great but I'm very sore too, I think the pump is on too vigorous a setting?!

@nizo1245 how have you been feeling over the weekend? I hope you have a nice relaxing Christmas planned in case the little one decides to make an appearance!

nizo1245 · 27/12/2023 16:11

@browneyedgirl626 managed to have a relaxed Christmas but still no sign of baby 😭

The midwife was able to do a sweep this afternoon so I'm hoping that might get things going. Had a little bit of cramping since but nothing major yet.

He'll be with us one way or another within about a week, but I'm really hoping to avoid an induction next week.

Hope all is well with all the babies that have been born so far. Looking forward to joining the party!

AlisonDanuta · 27/12/2023 20:09

Hello ladies,

I've also had a baby!
Beautiful baby girl at the beginning of December.
I was induced and had natural delivery without epidural. Ouch!
She was 8.2 lbs! But lost lots of weight and now thankfully gaining!

I still can't believe she is here!

@nizo1245 good luck and let us know!

@browneyedgirl626 sounds like you've had a hard time but glad your baby is here now ❤️

@Jupiteer same here - she'll only sleep on us and hardly in her next to me on her own
We take in turns and keep staring at her lol

Vil · 27/12/2023 21:40

Hi guys

Our baby girl came on Boxing Day! Weighing in may 7 pound 10, labour did not go as planned and recovery will be a long road but we’re overjoyed!!!

best of luck to those awaiting their arrivals and congrats to those whose have arrived

xx

browneyedgirl626 · 31/12/2023 10:42

Congratulations @AlisonDanuta ! I think losing weight is normal after birth 😊 well done for doing it without an epidural, I wanted one but in hindsight it was good to do without it as I knew when to push.

Congratulations @Vil ! Wishing you a good recovery, it's tough starting out with a newborn and then having to heal physically and emotionally from the birth. I had a lot of flashbacks for the first week and could feel my body tensing up at the thought of what I went through during birth, but it's passed now, it is a huge experience to go through and it takes time to process it.

How are you getting on @nizo1245?

Is anyone else finding the winding stuff hard? Mine seems to fart rather than burp and he writhes around in stomachy cramp pain but aaaaages after a feed which means the whole feeding/winding process takes hours 🥺

nizo1245 · 31/12/2023 19:27

@AlisonDanuta congrats on your baby girl! 😊

@browneyedgirl626 still very much pregnant 😭 booked for an induction tomorrow so still kind of holding out hope I'll go spontaneously overnight but I've also accepted the fact that I might need to be induced. Was quite against induction unless really necessary, but I really just want to get him out now, so if it takes an induction that's what I'll do. Hoping it's not too painful!

browneyedgirl626 · 03/01/2024 12:43

☘️☘️☘️@nizo1245 I've heard positive stories about induction as well as labour happening spontaneously so I hope all goes well for you

nizo1245 · 04/01/2024 20:55

@browneyedgirl626 induction went well but unfortunately ended up needing an emergency c section anyway as he was just too big.

Struggling a little bit with feeding at the moment but other than that, so far so good.

Can't believe we made it and he's finally here!

AlisonDanuta · 05/01/2024 08:32

Congratulations @nizo1245 🎉🎉🎉

Well done going through the pain.
I've also had induction and thankfully pushed her out but wanted an epidural but they've told me dr was in theatre... which turns out was a lie theyvsay if they thi3bk youvcan do it?? But I guess i was mobile after and could have a shower etc

I also struggled to feed, my baby lost 12% body weight so i was breasfeeding a lot and started to express to top her up after every feed.. we were doing syringes at first.

Speak to your midwife asap to avoid bigger weight loss.
I assume you're breasfeeding?

Vil · 05/01/2024 16:32

Keen to hear everyone’s feeding stories

Were expressing and formula feeding both through bottles as she had tongue tie so the latch isn’t really working until after we have it sorted.

shes lost barely any weight which is good but sad she’s not on the breast hoping that changes.

fine feeding the hardest part !!

hope you’re all ok
