Hi just wanted to ask if anyone is in similar position and tested positive recently.
I'm 5 weeks tomorrow via our 3rd IVF icsi cycle and can't believe it's happening..
I'm pinching myself every day since BFP!
We did try 7 years and i never thought i ever be able to say "I'm pregnant "

My symptoms now are feeling a bit sick and just trying to take things easy.
This wait for first scan seems like it's ages away!

Hi Ladies,

I seem to be doing ok on the anxiety front at the moment to be completely honest. My clinic offered an 8-9 week scan so I have another one tomorrow (2 weeks since the last one).

Ive had my first midwife appointment and my 12 week scan is in about 3 weeks from now ! I’ll be just under 12 weeks.

Im having a bit of nausea and I’m extremely bloated, I feel like I’ve doubled in size !!

Cant wait to get finally to the 12 weeks and start celebrating this !

AlisonDanuta · 17/05/2023 21:34

Oh great @Vil that you're having another scan with your clinic. Was there any reason for the scan or just a normal procedure?

My clinic has discharged me after my 1 and only scan at 8 weeks.

How are you doing with not telling people?
We've only told very close family after that 8 week scan so only 3 people are aware.

I'm bloated too!! Feel uncomfortable in my jeans. I was size 10 and now size 12! Struggling to hide my belly so wearing oversized stuff to cover up!

OP posts:
Vil · 17/05/2023 21:37

Yeah the scan went well they just offered another probably as it’s chargeable haha I’m excited to see it all again as I was so overwhelmed last time I barely looked.

haha I’m exactly the same wearing oversized tops and shirts! Can barely do my trousers up!!

we’ve also just told direct family but a few people have kind of guessed as they knew we were having ivf, I’m desperate to keep it as few as possible!!

browneyedgirl626 · 18/05/2023 07:53

I'm 9 1/2 weeks and my nausea has really ramped up, I'm getting acid reflux every night so it's hard to eat anything but if I don't eat I feel sick so 🤷🏻‍♀️ also getting a lot of mood swings and just generally feeling rough.

I had a scan last week at my dads surgery on the ancient ultrasound machine, I could see a kidney bean blob and was told that there was a heartbeat though I found it hard to see because the machine was so old. It had definitely grown though! My next scan is with my ivf clinic at 11 weeks, they don't typically do this but I'm going in for my final intralipid and it's a very costly add on so I asked to have a scan to check everything is ok before I do it. Im guessing I'll be discharged after that.

I've moved to NI now and haven't got my GP registration confirmed yet which means I can't refer to the hospital...I still have to get a booking appointment and those screening tests, though this pregnancy is a pgta tested embryo so technically it should be chromosomally normal

Jupiteer · 18/05/2023 20:53

Hi all
@nizo1245 happy 9 weeks tomorrow and @AlisonDanuta happy 10 weeks!
I'm on holiday in Croatia at the minute. The first 3 days I felt absolutely terrible with fatigue and nausea, couldn't enjoy any food or drinks and was worried the whole trip would be ruined. Then from yesterday I woke up feeling fine with no nausea or fatigue for 2 days! I haven't felt like this the whole pregnancy. Now I'm worried it's a bad sign 🙃🙃🙃 this whole early pregnancy thing is a total head f**k isn't it?!
Is anyone else having a private NIPT? Im having one next weekend and it includes a scan so really hoping it's still good news!
I haven't told anyone yet apart from one friend, finding it hard to believe am actually pregnant and it's not going to end any minute. I was planning to tell at 10w after this scan but might wait for the NIPT results just in case... Or push it until after the 12w scan!

AlisonDanuta · 19/05/2023 14:52

How lovely @Jupiteer you are on holiday and can try to have a bit of a rest from this madness! Honestly if you are feeling better that means your body is telling you should enjoy sun and relax a bit!
I think I'm having those tests done with nhs as I've been asked if I wanted them. So I've said yes...having my scan on week 13!
Midwife has told me that the worry never stops as you think it will stop once baby is out.. but she has said that's when nect worries come! So told me to treat this pregnancy as a "normal' one and embrace it. Hard done but I knew that before.. so trying!

@browneyedgirl626 that is so cool you could have a scan on the old machine lol

Oh trust me I also have a lot of mood swings and falling asleep most days!
I found myself eating more and this sea sickness is just horrendous! So i feel fat! Lol

nizo1245 · 19/05/2023 15:03

@Jupiteer happy 9 weeks!

Glad you've managed to enjoy some of your holiday!
I know it's really scary when the symptoms disappear, mine have been fluctuating and it's terrifying.
Just trying to take it 1 step at a time.

I have my booking appointment next week at 10 weeks. I think they only book the 12 week scan after that appointment here so I'll need to wait and see when I get my scan.

We haven't told anyone yet apart from 1 friend as well. Not even family as DH's family are quite overbearing and would probably have already found a way to accidentally spread it all over Facebook 🤦‍♀️ they live quite far away so we've been thinking we'll hold off as long as possible before telling them as we don't want to do a big social media announcement and they probably just won't understand that.

How are everyone else's symptoms?

I find i have a new craving every couple of days, it's been a bit bizarre!

Vil · 19/05/2023 18:27

Hi ladies

happy holidaying @Jupiteer

im hungry and nauseous for the first time this week, I’m also pretty grumpy as well and so so so tired!

im ready for this part to be over as it’s starting to wear a bit ! I want my energy back.

so good some of you aren’t long until the 12 week milestone !

im really annoyed with my husband generally he’s not doing anything wrong but I’m cross with him most days lol how fun

nizo1245 · 19/05/2023 19:51

@Vil how far along are you now?

Being hungry and nauseous at the same time is the cruellest combination of symptoms.
Lucky I've not been annoyed at my husband yet but pretty much everyone else is really annoying me 😂

Just caved and booked a private scan for next Friday when I'll be 10 weeks. I have my booking appointment that morning and the thought of not knowing if things are headed in the right direction is terrifying me. DH said he'd happily get a private scan every week until we know it's definitely happening. Definitely won't be throwing that much money away but it's good to know he's on board with a few extra scans to help put our minds at ease!

browneyedgirl626 · 19/05/2023 19:54

So it sounds like most of you are getting the nhs screening NIPT tests, are any of you thinking about doing the Harmony test just out of interest? @Jupiteer is that what you're having?

I've now registered with a GP and self referred to the local hospital and the midwife called me to say that my appointment would be in about 3 weeks time, which would mean I'd see someone at 13 weeks 🥴 it all feels a bit late, or is that normal? I've been thinking about getting the harmony test and a scan done around 10.5/11 weeks. It's another expense but I've read the Harmony test is a lot better than the standard NHS one. What's another 500 quid at this point?!?! 😳

@AlisonDanuta it is cool. I had bad memories of that old relic scanner because it's where I found out about my missed miscarriage, thankfully this time felt different 😊

Ive had so much going on, I've moved house in the last week and whilst im absolutely loving our new place I'm also feeling so up and down and emotional, I think part of it is just change but the hormones are definitely contributing. I feel like an absolute nutter

browneyedgirl626 · 19/05/2023 19:54

@Vil and same, my partner is getting the worst of it, I feel sorry for him! But not enough to stop feeling irritated also haha

Vil · 19/05/2023 20:07

@nizo1245 good for you ! Whatever makes you feel more confident ! Oh yes everyone else annoying me but mostly my husband haha !

Im 8 weeks 3 days and have had 2 scans a 6 week and a 8 week.

My next scan is 11 weeks 3 days (12 week scan) with the nhs !

xx

Jupiteer · 20/05/2023 09:24

Hi all
My nausea and fatigue came back yesterday 🤣 grateful I had 2 days off! Heading back home today but it was great to have a break in the sun.
@nizo1245 that's nice we are having scans at similar times again, mine is next Sunday and midwife appt is on Tue. I agree really don't want to do the whole long booking appt whilst worrying it's not ok. I agree with the not telling people thing... Just so scared will have to un-tell them a few weeks later. I've been told this anxiety eases after 12 weeks so here's hoping.
@browneyedgirl626 yes I'm having a harmony next week. I'm 38 so the NHS screen will likely come back high risk anyway due to age so think the private test will bring a lot of reassurance as if it's negative, it's only 0.1% incorrect. I think they have a higher rate of false positives but will cross that bridge if we come to it. And we get another scan which is a bonus. It is expensive but think you can't put a price on reassurance when I'm feeling so worried anyway!

Jupiteer · 26/05/2023 17:39

@nizo1245 have you had your scan yet?
I'm so nervous for mine on Sunday 😖

nizo1245 · 26/05/2023 19:45

@Jupiteer just back from the scan, everything went well. Measuring exactly 10 weeks and with a strong heartbeat.
It's crazy how much it looks like an actual baby now.
We had to do some jiggling around to get a measurement because the baby was sitting with its bum in the air 😂
But everything was looking great.
I think I'm still in shock that this is actually happening. I keep preparing myself for the worst just in case but thankfully so far so good.

Good luck for your scan on Sunday!

Jupiteer · 28/05/2023 16:32

Great news about your scan @nizo1245 !
Ours went well too! Thank god as I felt so worried about it. All measuring normal size for 10 weeks, arms and legs present and moving around! It is so crazy how much they change in 3 weeks!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well x

browneyedgirl626 · 29/05/2023 18:16

Good to hear about the scans @nizo1245 and @Jupiteer 🌟

I don't think I'm going to bother with harmony, just get the NIPT tests with the nhs. I had a scan this morning at 11 weeks, all looked good but it was a very quick one as my clinic isn't really supposed to scan past 10 weeks. I got a private one done last week at 10 weeks 3 days and it was very thorough, got loads of videos! It was also measuring ahead at 11 weeks!

How is everyone doing with the symptoms? My sickness is going slowly and I'm starting to crave fruit and veg again which is a good sign after living off bread and haribo 😂

AlisonDanuta · 30/05/2023 11:37

Great to see you're all doing well!! 🥰

Since my 8th week scan, time just doesn't love as fast as I would expect!

I'm waiting for my NHS scan which is in 9 days and I'll be almost 13 weeks (-1 day).

We will have NIPT done too.
I feel like we're still in denial most days lol and just NEED that reassurance now!

Btw are you showing????
I feel like my belly have grown (I'm 11w 4 days)... and feel like struggling to hide it!!!
However not sure if it's me getting just fat as haven't been to the gym since starting IVF... or is this belly normal for pregnancy at this stage..

My symptoms are pretty much same - fatigue, feeling sea sick, easily irritable oops...

Jupiteer · 30/05/2023 17:26

Hi all
@browneyedgirl626 great to hear you're starting to feel better. I'm still feeling nauseous and tired but hoping it improves at 12 weeks 🤞
@AlisonDanuta I have been very bloated since 6w and no difference, have looked pregnant the whole time and have been wearing my baggiest clothes to try and hide it. No sign of an actual bump yet but it may be hidden under the bloat 🤣

browneyedgirl626 · 01/06/2023 11:18

@AlisonDanuta agreed, time is going so slow! I have my nhs appointment next Friday where I will hopefully be nearly 13 weeks. It sounds like yours will be around the same time.

Are any of you still on medication? I can't wait to stop the cyclogest, it's gross! I am weaning off prednisolone from next week too. I want to stay on clexane but I will see what the consultant says at the appointment.

@Jupiteer I'm so bloated too, I don't know how people hide it past 12 weeks. I don't really want to tell many people, I'd like to wait until 16 weeks but then it might be a bit obvious at that point?!

@nizo1245 is your scan tomorrow?

nizo1245 · 01/06/2023 17:07

@browneyedgirl626 I don't have a date for my scan yet. I had a private scan at 10 weeks last Friday but no word yet on my NHS 12 week scan.

I haven't been on medication since a positive was confirmed at 4 weeks. My clinic said I didn't need any meds after that. I guess it probably depends what protocol you're on etc.

The thought of telling people is actually really stressing me out 😂
We've waited so long and tried so hard to get to this point but I'm terrified for the moment we actually tell people. I wish we could wait until after the 20 week scan to know things are going to plan but obviously it'll be pretty clear by then!

We're hoping to tell family on Father's Day if everything is still going to plan at the 12 week scan. We'll be just over 13 weeks by then so hopefully I'll still be able to hide it until then.

Vil · 01/06/2023 20:19

Hi ladies

Hope you’re all doing ok! We’re getting oh so close to that safe date.

my scan is next Thursday!

I feel pretty nauseous and tired at the moment, I’m still on progesterone as well!

is anyone else feeling a bit low! I’ve lost my excitement a bit and I’m annoyed with myself that I’m not more overjoyed but I just feel a bit meh and flat. I’m not sure why or whether it’s normal. I’m not excited to tell anyone and just feel like I don’t care (sorry if that sounds weird!) I’m scared to tell anyone I feel this way!

x

Jupiteer · 01/06/2023 20:42

We have booked to visit my parents the weekend after my 12w scan to tell them... I'm starting to feel guilty not mentioning it like I'm purposefully avoiding talking about a major part of my life. Will tell others eg. Friends as and when we see them and hoping to tell work at 16w if can hide it for that long... although may have to tell my boss at 12w as she will want to plan maternity leave. The thought of telling people scares me too as I am worried about having to un-tell them. But I do feel a bit more confident after the 10w scan and hoping to feel even better after 12w. Definitely not doing a social media announcement until after the birth!
@Vil my mood was a bit low when I was feeling very nauseous 9-10 weeks, it's hard to be bothered about anything when you feel like crap and are trying to hide it at work and act normal. Now I'm coming to the end of 10w and nausea seems to be reducing in intensity and frequency so hopefully your mood will improve when you feel better. I think your scan may give you a boost too! x

AlisonDanuta · 02/06/2023 06:52

@Jupiteer I know exactly what you mean by being bloated! I felt uncomfortable in my jeans from the beginning to be fair. Still trying to wear lose clothes but bet people just think I've put on weight!

@browneyedgirl626 we are same time! I'm 12 weeks today! Feels like a milestone! Still believe it's actually happening!

I think i will need to tell my work colleagues after my scan as it's just going to be too obvious! My boss knows i was going through ivf but haven't told him the outcome as kept saying i need to wait... so he probably knows already.

Regarding medication - at my 8 weeks scan my clinic has told me that I can stop but didn't feel comfortable as 'what if?'
So I'm now only on every other day 1 pessary a day. Finishing now completely.

@nizo1245 telling people is also stressing me out. I feel like I don't want all the fuss..
However I feel if this scan at 13 weeks will be all good... i can treat this as normal pregnancy and try to enjoy. Anything can happen at any time so I'd rather feel happy than stressing out constantly.

@Vil my scan is next Thursday too!
I'm still feeling tired most of the tine plus waking up at silly times at night!

I think we are all going through ups and downs.. but remember it's a marathon as they say! Plus hormones etc so give yourself credit for getting to this stage!

@Jupiteer i think it's nornal you want to keep this to yourself . As someone mentioned the idea about untelling people is too strong!
No one likes to be disappointed.. i rather be positively surprised than disappointed... so most of the times think about the worse lol

OP posts:
browneyedgirl626 · 02/06/2023 07:22

I feel weird about telling people too. My family know because I'm so close to them and my dad is a GP so he is always checking up on me! I think what I find hard about the concept of telling people is their reaction which might be a bit over the top, and I worry that how I feel won't necessarily match them because I'm naturally still a bit guarded.

@nizo1245 I think all mixed feelings are normal, around 9 weeks was the absolute worst for me, symptom and mood wise. It's a long old time to get through without letting on to anyone and being in a bit of a limbo state.

@AlisonDanuta that's a milestone, well done on getting to 12 weeks! I'm 12 on Monday 🙏🏻

It's interesting to hear about you all making plans to tell work. I work online for myself and I won't be telling my clients until I'm past 6 months! I can hide for longer!
