Hi all! Our last thread is full so thought i'd create a new one!

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the lack of news. Everything seemed to happen really fast in the last month and a half.

Our little girl was born on 10th August at 40+3. I was induced at 40 weeks on the dot and honestly I am glad I was and we didn't want longer as she weight a whopping 4.5kg. Can't imagine how big she would be if we had waited longer.

It was a long labour and we seemed to need all kinds of medical intervention in the end, so nothing like the calm water birth I was hoping for. The little madam came into the world full of drama but we are both well and healthy and my recovery hasn't been as bad as I feared.

The last couple of weeks went flying, trying to adjust to life with a beautiful and very demanding newborn that has the entire family wrapped around her dainty finger.

How are you all doing?

Conundrum12345 · 29/08/2022 11:45

Having my transfer at the end if the September and honestly so nervous as have immune issues

ngy21 · 01/09/2022 16:17

@Novavee congratulations and wow! 4.5kg!!!! My baby boy came early and almost half of your babies weight 🙈I’m glad your recovery isn’t as bad as you thought!

we have just gone the 3 months mark and I must say I’m really enjoying it now. I did struggle the first 6-8 weeks but it’s all good now! Got a nice group of mummy friends to meet up with for walks and coffee.

they grow too quick 😭 I can’t believe I don’t have a newborn anymore!

@Conundrum12345 welcome. Good luck with ur transfer end of the month!

@ngy21 I imagine a smaller baby is easier to care for. She's outgrown all her up to 1 month clothes already and never fit into newborn size ones. Good thing I didn't buy any newborn sizes, we just had what we were gifted. And because she's a big girl, she has a big appetite so breastfeeding has been challenging.

I am sorry to read you struggled at the beginning, but it honestly makes me feel less alone. I am almost 4 weeks in and it's been tough, especially since my wife went back to work. No one nearby with babies, so it does feel a bit lonely, but I've booked myself into a La Leche League meeting for next week, so that will hopefully help a bit.

Welcome and good luck @Conundrum12345

beachbum85 · 06/09/2022 16:54

Very belated congratulations @ngy21 ! Very sorry to hear about the traumatic birth but glad you're both well now :)

And congratulations @Novavee ! Sorry about your drama as well... I guess all births have their own story but oh my, that's one big little girl :)
Glad to hear you're both well and I hope you're adjusting too x

I'm very sorry to hear about both your struggles early on... Very good to hear things are so much better @ngy21
I feel kind of the opposite as the first weeks we were surrounded by family and had tons of support. We're just recently back in London and my partner is in the office most days, baby hasn't yet settled in here and now I'm finding it a lot tougher and there are days I struggle. But things are already getting better, slowly.

Very best of luck @Conundrum12345 !

@Lifa how are you doing? xx

Lifa · 06/09/2022 17:21

Novavee · 08/09/2022 12:34

@beachbum85 I am sorry to hear you are finding it more difficult now. My family lives abroad as well and sometimes I do wish I was there in these early days.

We are mostly have feeding issues that we have been trying to tackle since day 1. I lost a lot of blood during labour which delayed and affected my supply, so we are combi feeding but I was keen on EBF (it was the last thing on my birth plan that hadn't been changed completely). I've reached out for help and seen feeding specialists, but it seems I might have to throw in the towel and realise that between a fed and content baby or a baby who won't settle because she is hungry all the time, the first option is preferable, despite feeling guilty about it.

@Lifa so glad to hear all is well with you and your little boy. Amazing that he is already sleeping through the night!

Lifa · 17/11/2022 20:27

Hey ladies how are you all getting on xxx

beachbum85 · 22/11/2022 23:26

Hiya @Lifa! Nice to hear from you!

All good here thanks :) Leo is a super happy little boy, smiling a lot and bringing us lots of happiness! He is teething and not sleeping through the night, but overall can't complain at all. We're just starting weaning this week and pretty excited, and a bit apprehensive too haha

How about you? And how is everyone else? xx

Lifa · 08/05/2023 19:32

Hey ladies just thought I would drop a message to you all.....how are you all getting on xxx

beachbum85 · 09/05/2023 12:08

Hey Lifa! How are you doing? I'm guessing you must have celebrated your Amir's first birthday recently? I hope all is well for both of you 😊

We're doing fine, thank you! I'm back at work, which was a challenging transition, but now feel like we've settled into this new phase. I feel like things get more fun as time goes by and Leo becomes more interactive and his character comes out more and more. He's a tiny baby and we're trying to figure out if his weight is OK or it needs some attention, and he has no teeth although he's almost 1! But otherwise your average baby, and we're still so in love 😍We're having a tough time weaning off breastfeeding completely but I feel like we're almost there now...

How is everyone else? @ngy21 @Novavee I hope you're all fine xxx

Lifa · 09/05/2023 15:37

Awwwww lovely to hear from you glad all is well....Amir was 1 last week ihave no idea where that year went .....it wasmy 1st day back to work today and fell so guilty and miss him soooooo much.....we still some days can't believe he is here he is just amazing.....Amir has 14 teeth....crawls everywhere and walks round the furniture ....we have had a couple of caravan holiday to the seaside which has been amazing xxx

Novavee · 09/05/2023 20:36

Hi all

It is so lovely hearing from you! Crazy that your little ones are or will be 1 soon. Isabella is 9 months tomorrow and today was my first day back to work as well @Lifa . We had settling in at the nursery all of last week and that was a great help. She had a great day today and I was able to only call the nursery once to check in on her 😁

Mine is the opposite in terms of size @beachbum85 She is above the 99.6th centile in height but only starting to get some baby rolls and tummy, she's always been long but lean. It is a nightmare for clothes, though.

Isabella is cutting two teeth at the moment to add to the other three she already has and rolls everywhere but still no sign of crawling. She's a very cheeky little girl with a big personality! We're super in love and enjoying this funny side of hers.

xx

ngy21 · 10/05/2023 08:29

Hey everyone!!!

so good to hear from you all 😊

@Lifa happy 1st birthday to Amir!

we are very well here… little one turns 1 in 10 days !!! Time does go quick… he’s got his induction days at nursery starting next week and then I’m starting a new job at the end of the month.

hes starting to take over the living room… he does a weird crawl and butt scooch (thjnk he is trying to learn the traditional crawl) and he’s also cruising on furniture! Only a couple of days ago he actually tried to pull himself up on the furniture 🙈

he’s a funny little guy that won’t stop chatting away 😂 but very much enjoying seeing his personality come out.

can’t believe how our little ones are growing out the baby stage and into toddlers 😭

hope you are all doing well!

Long time guys......hope you are all ok and your Little ones are doing great
xxxx

beachbum85 · 27/11/2023 09:57

Hey Lifa! Very long time... how are you and Amir doing? I hope you're well 😊

We're doing well! Leo turned 18months recently and is running around and trying to talk and sing a lot, and generally so much fun 😍 he's a tiny little one and he doesn't breathe great, so we were about to operate to take his adenoids out, but now turns out he might have coeliac disease, so we're trying to figure it all out... but it doesn'timpact his day to day too much, so it's all good.

@Novavee and @ngy21 how are you guys doing and your little ones? I hope work has been smooth and they're enjoying nursery and life with a toddler has been treating you well xxx

Lifa · 27/11/2023 16:15

Hey @beachbum85 lovely to gear from you
We are great thank you....Amir is also 18 months time has gone sooooooo quick 😞 awwww bless Leo hope his operation goes OK and you get to the bottom if he has coeliac disease, Amir is full of fun and into everything proper little boy loves cars and has just started going to a little football group on a Saturday morning which gets some of his energy out, it took a while for Amir to settle at childcare when I 1st went back to work but he is loving it now......
@Novavee @ngy21 hope you and your little ones are OK 😀

Novavee · 28/11/2023 23:59

Hi everyone! Great to hear from you.

@Lifa Amir sounds like great fun! I'm glad he's settled into nursery. Is he going full time?

@beachbum85 hopefully knowing more about him having coeliac disease will make it easier to manage and help his symptoms. They're little chatterboxes aren't they? I can't wait until Isabella is able to tell us all that goes inside her head!

Isabella is 15 and a half months and she's a cheeky little one, such a busy bee, always on the move, always exploring and babbling non stop. Her current favourite word is shoe 😁. She's obsessed with shoes. Hers and everyone else's. And she's such a sweet girl, always showing affection for everything and everyone. She loves nursery and has her little group of friends. It's very cute.

This week has been tough, though. She's caught hand foot and mouth, the mother of all colds and has 4 molars all making an appearance at once. I'm currently up with her. It's like having a newborn again, who doesn’t want to be put down. Not sure how I'll be up in 5 hours to get ready for work...

ngy21 · 29/11/2023 08:40

Hey everyone! It’s so good to hear from you all!!!

we are doing better now! He had a bit of a regression from about 14 months, and then his molars kicked in… and then he caught a virus… he’s 18 months now and only this week his sleep has been back to normal! He’s still got the snotty nose and cough doesn’t seem to be better but he’s sleeping through without waking up and throwing up.

hes a funny little guy, talking a lotttt!! Its crazy having these little conversations with them 😂

@Novavee its horrible the teething! We had the newborn stage again and I’m so glad I work from home. We had 2 months of constant waking in the night every 2-3 hours. I hope it passes soon and your little one feels better! Fingers crossed for you.

@beachbum85 hope you’re little ones operation goes smoothly and a speedy recovery!

@Lifa glad you’re little one has settled into nursery! My little boy loves nursery it’s so nice to see him in his element and be so relaxed in that environment. I love the pick ups at the end of the day, just seeing his face light up and run towards you!

beachbum85 · 01/08/2024 17:04

Hi @Lifa how lovely to hear from you 😍and to hear that Amir is doing so well and growing up so fast! I can't believe they're all 2 already!!
I see some similarities there... cars and dinos, big bed (floor bed though) here as well, and Leo has started speaking a little in Italian (his dad is Italian). He's very... assertive.. telling us all what to do all the time, and doesn't stop moving except to read books, but super cute, and we're about 10 days into potty training so that's been interesting but is going well 😄

I'm actually pregnant again, 19w today with the second and last embryo from that round. It's a little girl and we're so excited, but there's a complication this time round and we're waiting for amnio results to rule out a particular genetic disorder that would have a pretty bad prognosis. So, between that and 2 months of pregnancy sickness, it's been quite tough handling a toddler but it makes me all the more grateful for him and helps us stay hopeful 🤞🏼

I would love to hear everyone else's updates too! Thanks for getting back in touch xxx

2mumlife · 01/08/2024 17:14

Hi @Lifa ! Lovely to hear an update.

DD is a little behind you all (don't expect anyone to remember but we did a freeze-all, so trasnfer was Dec, so her 2nd birthday isn't until September) but a lot of similarities - she's very chatty (with people she knows - still very shy with strangers) and also likes vehicles, colours, counting. Like Leo, we have a very assertive one (lots of "I do it!") and big opinions on what she wants to wear, and deciding variations on songs (incy wincy spider gets demands of "two big spiders!" and the sleeping bunnies song she's adapted to sleeping Lions!, Rabbits! Crocodiles! 😂).

I've had the joy of being on threads with @beachbum85 again, as I'm also expecting (30 weeks yesterday). We got very lucky and transferred 1 of our 2 remaining frosties and it stuck. Like with DD, we've decided not to find out what we're having, but both myself and wife (oh yeah, I got married in June!) think its another girl. We'll have to wait and see. Bit daunted my the prospect of 2, as they'll only be 25 months between them, so just hoping we cope 😬but also excited to meet this one.

How is everyone else getting on?

ngy21 · 01/08/2024 20:22

Ahh it’s so lovely to hear everyone’s updates! Congratulations @2mumlife and @beachbum85 on your second! Me and my husband are planning for a second sometime this year.

our little one turned 2 in May and he is also quite assertive and very, very chatty! it’s so amazing seeing them string sentences together. But I am loving this age!

Hope everyone is well!

Hi everyone,

It is so lovely to hear from you all! Congratulations @beachbum85 @2mumlife I hope all goes well.

Isabella will be 2 next week and it's funny that what you are describing resonates a lot. The assertiveness, the wanting to do everything by herself ("Bella's turn now"). She is such a chatterbox, speaking two languages mixed together with made up words, counting to 10 in both languages (always forgetting number 8!). She's a very social and caring little girl with a group of friends at nursery and always wanting to take care of the little ones and bring them conforts if they cry. It's a great age and we are having such fun.

We're one and done and she's it for us, so we try to make the most of it and enjoy it.
