@Novavee it's annoying isn't it when u want AF to show and it doesn't 😂 but sounds like it's gonna arrive soon!! Exciting times ahead!

@2mumsandason so glad to hear everything went so well! Congrats 🥳

@2mumsandason that's wonderful news, I'm so happy for you too :) xx

@Lifa so glad to hear you had such a positive scan as well - it must be amazing to see baby's little arms and legs, and also a big relief to know that you don't need to worry about the hematoma :) just a couple of weeks to 12weeks as well!

@ngy21 great that you're feeling so well and have managed to get moving again! And that you're not sufering with nausea too :) I'm also trying to eat little and often, and I think it does help... the last couple of days have been easier, at least.

I called the hospital today and the nurse initially told me that I'll hear back in 3 weeks, but I told her I'll be just past the 12w mark in 3 weeks! So she said she'll prioritise my referral and I should hear back within a week... really glad I called and I hope I get that appointment booking in soon. In the meantime, I booked a private NIPT - is anyone else doing that?

@Novavee I can't wait for you to join us too!! I'm sorry it's taking longer than you hoped to start, but your body has been through a lot... it'll come when the time is right and fingers tigtly crossed that it's really soon!

Lifa · 23/10/2021 08:20

@beachbum85 good morning 😘 I have no plans to have the Nipt test xx

beachbum85 · 23/10/2021 10:16

good morning @Lifa - thanks!

good morning to everyone else too ! have a lovely weekend :) xx

SerendipitySunshine · 24/10/2021 09:03

We had a private NIPT done @beachbum85 results came back this week, thankfully low risk, and we are having a little girl. Have the NHS 12 week scan this week and trying to stop worrying about it but I've built it up so much I find it very nerve wracking. Nausea has gone too, but I know that can be the placenta taking over.
How are you feeling?

beachbum85 · 24/10/2021 20:56

Ohhh thanks great to hear @SerendipitySunshine! Congratulations again, it must be such a relief xx
Good luck with the 12w scan, but I'm sure it'll be fine if the NIPT results were low risk!
Glad to hear nausea is gone too - they say the 12w mark is around the time for that :) I'm feeling a lot better this weekend, thankfully! I'm beginning to think it has a lot to do with how rested I am, as I always feel better during the weekend?

ngy21 · 25/10/2021 10:42

Hello all! Happy Monday :)

@beachbum85 thank you! Good to hear your nausea has been a bit better. Any luck with your next appointment yet? I haven't considered a NIPT... is it just for a peace of mind?

@Novavee hope everything is good on your end and you can get the ball rolling this week!

Happy Monday everyone :)

@ngy21 thank you! no luck with the appointment yet... I feel like this is going to be another case of constant chasing!
Yes, the NIPT is just for peace of mind - I've read that the NHS screening gives a higher risk for >35 year olds (I'm about to turn 36) and the NIPT is able to give a more accurate indication, although an invasive test would still be necessary to confirm any high risks detected.
How are you feeling about your scan tomorrow? xx

I hope everyone else is doing well as well!

ngy21 · 25/10/2021 14:34

@beachbum85 still nervous!!! I guess I see it as a proper confirmation of pregnancy.

So your NIPT if all comes back as low risk then you wouldn't need to take further action, but if anything were t o be detected then more tests will need to be carried out?

I did wonder if NHS would do it for IVF patients as won't we all be considered high risk because we did IVF? This is just me wondering, as I think I have heard somewhere when it comes to birthing plan, as IVF is high risk you can do the pool birth

When is your private NIPT scan booked for?

OP posts:
beachbum85 · 25/10/2021 15:55

@ngy21 totally understandable - I felt exactly the same. Keeping everything tightly crossed for you for tomorrow :) xx

Yes, as I understand it, both the NIPT and the NHS tests at 12w are screening tests, not diagnostic, so if they indicate high risk, an amnio or CVS (both invasive) would be needed to confirm or disprove that - obviously based on whether you'd want to know and what actions you'd want to take, if any, if any conditions were to be confirmed. I don't think the NHS in England offers NIPT at all right now, high risk or not.. But yes, a gynae friend of mine said we might have consultant-led care being IVF, and therefore I think they do consider us high-risk for certain aspects.

My NIPT is booked for 2 Nov and then I think it takes up to 2weeks to get the results back.

Lou8319 · 25/10/2021 16:59

@beachbum85 and @ngy21 I’m 38 years old and now 34 weeks pregnant (IVF in March). My NHS trust classifies IVF as a higher risk, but I’ve had one consultant appointment at week 30 where they just measured me, asked if I was ok and then said I was low risk. Another consultant appointment week 36, which will I’m sure be the same.
I thought they’re might be more/different care due to the IVF, especially as I’m older, but under 40 and they’re not bothered!

beachbum85 · 25/10/2021 17:19

Hi @Lou8319! We were on the March/April thread together :) amazing to know that you're almost there and everything has been going well for you xx

Thanks for sharing - it's good to know! I thought they'd pay more attention but I guess it means we can consider our pregnancies as relatively 'normal' risk, which is quite reassuring :)

Lou8319 · 25/10/2021 17:54

@beachbum85 I checked out the later IVF chats to keep an eye out for the March guys, hoping for their positives too.

It is reassuring that really we’re no different from everyone else (even though secretly we’re super special!).

beachbum85 · 25/10/2021 18:16

@Lou8319 that is so, so sweet - thank you ❤️

ngy21 · 26/10/2021 10:22

@beachbum85 thanks! i will deffo speak with my partner about it and see how he feels.

@Lou8319 Congrats! Almost there! If you are now classed as low risk would you be able to do a waterbirth or would you still need to be on labour ward?

OP posts:
Lou8319 · 26/10/2021 17:06

@ngy21 I’m choosing to have mine on the labour ward, so I’m not sure. But no one has said I can’t. I’ve got midwife Friday where I’ll go through my birth plan, so if anything gets mentioned I’ll let you know.

ngy21 · 26/10/2021 18:23

@Lou8319 ah I see! Hope everything goes well on Friday 😊

Had my scan today, measuring slightly ahead at 8w! So surreal but it's there! Officially done with the clinic and need to move onto GP now, exciting times!

OP posts:
SerendipitySunshine · 26/10/2021 22:34

Congratulations @ngy21 - lovely to hear.

2mumsandason · 26/10/2021 22:35

@ngy21 congratulations! So pleased it went well 😊 that's great that the size is really good. Does that mean that they have altered your due date?

ngy21 · 27/10/2021 12:46

@SerendipitySunshine @2mumsandason thank you!

i've contacted the midwife today who has registered my pregnancy, and also will receive a few letters over the next couple of weeks for my mid wife apt and 12 week scan!

@2mumsandason - at the scan they said it doesn't necessarily mean the due date changes, as later on down the line (e.g. 12 week scan) i could be back on track. She told me at my 12 week scan is when they will give a more accurate calculation. But on the paper work it still says EDD 10th June

OP posts:
beachbum85 · 27/10/2021 13:11

Congratulations @ngy21, amazing news!! So happy for you to have graduated from the IVF clinic :) xx
Also glad you managed to get in touch with the midwife right away!

@Lou8319 thanks for offering to share info after Friday's appointment and I hope that goes well!

I hope everyone else is keeping well as well xx

ngy21 · 28/10/2021 12:33

@beachbum85 thanks! yea i was quite pleasantly surprised with the midwife. I knew i was registered straight away as I got a text not long after i got in contact to say my NHS records show i am eligible for the flu vaccine lol!

hope everyone is doing well :)

@Novavee any progress on your end?

OP posts:
Novavee · 28/10/2021 17:59

Hi everyone,

@ngy21 great news about your scan. Congratulations!

AF has finally made an appearance today and put an end to the longest cycle ever, so we are ready to start. First lining scan booked for Monday. It will be very strange not having injections in the evenings as that was what kept me busy between scans, but we're very excited about this next part of the process.

beachbum85 · 29/10/2021 09:26

Great news @Novavee, I'm so glad you can get started!! Definitely very exciting :)

@ngy21 that's great! I followed up yesterday morning and then got a text past 8pm asking me to come in for my booking appointment today at 11:30am!! She wasn't joking when she said it might be short notice haha

ngy21 · 29/10/2021 10:32

@Novavee thank you! and what great news!!! Monday is only round the corner, excited for you!

@beachbum85 Oh wow very short notice ha!! Good luck with your appointment today!!! Keep us posted :)

Happy Friday everyone!
