Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Hey!
I'll be starting meds in February also, end of Feb looking like my egg collection date. All depending on when my January period arrives (currently due 11th Jan)

What's the first step in your process? I'm on a short protocol, minimal doses. Start northisterone day 21 of Jan period

Alexm06 · 30/12/2020 19:59

Ahh we must be on pretty much the same time scale. I’m due to start the 14th jan then I think it’s provera I believe on day 21 as well. I’m also on a short protocol but not the minimum dose this time. I’m going on a higher dose of menopur to try and get some frozen eggs which I should hopefully get.
I was on the minimum dose last time got 9 eggs 6 fertilised 3 were good on day 5, had the best one out back but then the other 2 didn’t make it.
Is this going to be your first round?

@Alexm06 yeah this will be my first round so going into it totally blind really. Trying not to get too nervous but it's hard isn't it?

We are unexplained. I have been pregnant twice before (one mmc when I was 16 and an abortion at age 20 which is the worst mistake of my life now - the father was American and it would just have been a whole crazy thing). I ovulate and have a good AFC so I think they are going easier with me.
My partner has 1% morphology though but they say that's not an issue as his other stats are all above average. We've been ttc five years now - I'm nearing on age 29

hopefulhel · 30/12/2020 22:18

Hi ladies, I'll also be starting my first Ivf journey during this time (short protocol). Starting provera on day 18 of my Jan cycle, due to stop that on 8 Feb with scans booked in for Feb 11th, 19th and 22nd. scheduled for between 24/26 Feb for my egg collection. All depending on when my January period arrive of course. Am completely new to this whole process. Have unexplained fertility. Had bloods and sis done in November and no issues with blockages, tubes all clear and amh of 29 at age 37 so am hopeful of a positive outcome.

willithappen · 30/12/2020 23:10

@hopefulhel your dates are very similar to mine so seems like we'll be along the journey together!

hopefulhel · 30/12/2020 23:25

@willithappen oh it will be great to have someone to chat to. We've haven't told anyone we're starting. I had an ectopic in June 2019 and have been ttc since with no success and didn't want to add to the stress by having to answer lots of questions from family.

willithappen · 31/12/2020 00:40

@hopefulhel we're the same and no one knows we'll be going through it. Kinda prefer not to have to answer all the questions too

hopefulhel · 31/12/2020 00:47

I'm based in Ireland and we've just gone back into a full lockdown till the end of January so will be easier to limit contacts. Will be working from home for the foreseeable so will make it easier for scans and injections. We only had our first consultation in Sept, we took 6/7 weeks to think about it and had all our tests done in November. I always thought it took years to get to this stage not less than six months. Just goes to show how little you know about it until you go through it

Alexm06 · 31/12/2020 05:54

@willithappen oh god yeah. I’m feeling positive about this round as my doctor seems postitve about it too saying that I got pregnant which is the main thing. I’ve already read that the percentage of getting pregnant again after having a MMC are higher and should happen in the 2nd or 3rd cycle.

I had an ectopic at 19 where I lost a tube and haven’t got pregnant since (apart from my first round of ivf) and I’m now 31.
I can try and help with questions about ivf as much as I can!

@hopefulhel Welcome! I haven’t got anything booked in yet I know some clinics are more organised with everything. Mine just go by the scans so will tell me when to next come in on the day of the scan, but I believe I should be starting injections around the 13th so a couple of days behind but yeah all depends on when my period decides to arrive in jan.

I told people last time as I had to have 2 weeks off work a week after the first lockdown let me go back to work as my clinic requires you to self isolate from when your start treatment. Also some of my friends knew which was so much harder telling them when it went wrong (my best friend ended up telling them) so I’m trying to keep it a bit quieter this time. I’m in East Sussex so I’m now in tier 4. Is it bad that I want to to stay until the end of Feb so I don’t have to somehow wiggle another 2 weeks off work without telling them haha

Hii ladies i should be starting IVF soon after a long wait with bham womens hospital im currently waiting for my consent forms.Due to the holidays clinic is closed i was wondering if anyone had the consent forms posted to them or was it online?

Alexm06 · 31/12/2020 13:27

@2021baby Hey! When we did our first round in august they got emailed to us then we had to print them and went through them with one of the nurses on zoom. Not sure if we have to do them again as this will be the second time but I’m guessing it will be the same again.

OP posts:
hopefulhel · 31/12/2020 14:48

@Alexm06 yeah I am hoping the same. I wouldn't mind if they kept the level five restrictions in place until mid March. I also have crohn's disease so intend taking some time off work around transfer and will be just telling them in work that I am having a flare up. I am not sure whether I should take the two weeks off work. My job is pretty stressful and it's gonna be very busy around the time of EC and transfer

Alexm06 · 31/12/2020 16:23

@hopefulhel yeah time off might be a bit easier less stressful for you and if you have an excuse to not tell them it works out. I was more of a wreck in the 2 week wait to be honest but I was on the lowest dose age last time so maybe a bit more emotional this time when injecting as I’m on a little bit of a higher dose. But you need to do what you feel will work for you I would definitely have the day of transfer and the day after off. I didn’t last time but I just sat on reception all day. Obviously need time off for egg collection too as you can’t drive or anything 48 hours after I believe as your sedated. So yeah if your happy to work during injections I would and then just book a week off for EC and transfer

@2021baby we had ours posted out and then had a video call with the doctor to sign them whilst he witnessed it

Happy new year!
I will be starting FET with my February period.
I have a DD from my third fresh cycle. (Fourth transfer). I went through FET in June, which ended in miscarriage. So, I’m not too excited to go through ivf again, but we do want to use out last frozen embryo. Our reason for IVF is MFI.

@Alexm06 so sorry for your MMC. Sending lots of luck to everyone this year.

Alexm06 · 02/01/2021 12:52

@BeHereNowx32 oh I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage it’s so hard isn’t it. Yes I’m not looking forward to do it all again but if I can get some frozen’s from it hopefully won’t have to again!
Good luck to you too

Alexm06 · 05/01/2021 16:41

How you guys doing? Have you heard anything regarding lockdown and your treatment? I’ve been checking my clinics website and they haven’t updated it yet. X

OP posts:
willithappen · 05/01/2021 17:10

AFF put an update out that things are still going ahead under government guidance so fingers crossed it's all looking hopeful this side of things!

BeHereNowx32 · 05/01/2021 17:14

My clinic (part of an nhs hospital) have put a status on Facebook. The HFEA have no intention of putting a blanket closure on fertility clinics. They are going ahead with treatments.

Alexm06 · 05/01/2021 17:36

Yeah I’ve seen that hopefully most clinics will stay open I think some are closing to use staff for other parts of the NHS hopefully we will all be lucky.

hopefulhel · 05/01/2021 19:52

I'm with a clinic in Ireland and we are now in level five lockdown. Fertility clinics here seem to be deemed essential healthcare services under level five so I am hoping that doesn't change

Loopylu1113 · 08/01/2021 06:03

Hi all
First time posting on any forum.
We are starting IVF around about now. Not quite sure the exact start month as I'm on Microgynon now and start Noristherone in 2 weeks and Jabs early Feb. Egg collection is mid Feb. I have PCOS and partner is Azoospermic but after over 1 year of hormone treatment is producing around 1000 sperm per sample which we are freezing as a back up. Pretty nervous about the whole thing as I never thought this was possible and spent our entire relationship focussing on adoption. We started our initial referral 6 years ago so it still feels like a dream that we are here!
