Hey @BrandyM thanks so much for this Smile Yes my cycle is shorter it's usually 28 days so that probs explains it. Iim day 34 now tho and this is the longest it's ever taken.. Hoping it materialises soon!

Not sure what down reg means sorry! I have a schedule of dates and next one is a week on weds to scan. Then I get menopure to take for 2 weeks and then another scan then EC. The EC is approx November 18th xx

@all hello all new joined an ones who have come from the other group, I'm
So glad I made these thread.
I'm trying to catch up you ladies have been busy haven't you.
I'm on a long drive today so I'll catch up then. (I'm not driving ) haha

@Rachae you must be on a different protocol did you ask? I started on day 21 and had to wait for my next Perod to come and then started prognova.

@Emmalouise11 I was on the same as you.

All ok my end tho nothing to report. Hubby drives me mad. I'm stuck in limbo of the next period. An keep think we're getting closer to Xmas will I be before then.

Be kind to your self ladies :)

I've started doing this each day ..

Think of 3-5 things that you have achieved positive today..
Even just making a cup of tea.

The whole of this process gets you wrapped an then you forget yourself etc..

Lots of love ladies xxxxx

Hey @ivfhope3 thanks. I'm not sure to be honest, I didn't realise there are other ways.
The only way I can describe it is this way takes around 6 weeks. 3 weeks of buserelin, 2 weeks of menopure (both injections) and then EC / transfer 5 days later. So my preg test would be around dec 1st. I do understand they were expecting my period to come as normal and then need my lining to be good on the 3 week scan before menopure. (week on Wednesday) they said if I don't have a period then I will have to wait and stay on just buserelin until I did. I have really regular periods.

Anyone on something similar 'protocol wise' ? Xx

Rachae · 25/10/2020 08:10

And happy Sunday to everyone Smile Xxx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 08:28

@Emmalouise11 and @dragonfly1978 good luck with your scans next week. Let us know how you get on xxx

MF1981 · 25/10/2020 09:06

@ivfhope3 you’re right - it’s easy to lose ourselves in this process. We write down 3 things each that we’re grateful for every night when we get into bed.

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 12:27

@Jane1284 The paperwork is crazy isn’t it? Ridiculous amount...

Antagonist is short protocol. Interesting how we have a fairly similar situation (low AMH/AFC) but are on different protocols (I’m on long protocol). Which clinic are you with? (I’m with Oxford fertility). I think the approach seem to differ from clinic to clinic on treatment for low AMH/AFC. I think the short one is better for egg quality plus doesn’t overstimulate your body. The long one is more aggressive with the view to maximise # of follicles that mature for collection but may have a negative impact of egg quality and overstimulation. It’s really down to what each clinic/consultant feel is better for individual cases.

Due to the subjective nature of what’s best, I’m in the process of booking a second opinion consultation on my treatment plan with another clinic. This clinic is called ‘Centre for Human Reproduction’ and are based on New York. They are the pioneers in the use of DHEA to increase fertility and specialise in low AMH/AFC cases. I’m going to send them my tests/medical records for second opinion (either to tweak my current cycle as necessary or to inform the next one if this one isn’t successful). I first heard about them when I read the book ‘It starts with the egg’. Xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 12:36

@Jane1284 Re supplements, it’s great that you did tests and taking supplements based on what your naturopath suggested. Great that you’re taking CO-Q10 as well. Research indicates it’s one of the best supplements for egg quality. I’d only recommend checking that you’re taking it in the ‘ubiquinol’ form.

On the subject of DHEA, yes you’re right it’s prescription only in the UK. I’ve had my DHEA-S levels tested and is in the normal range. However, it’s still on the lower side according to the various studies around what is ‘optimal’ in the IVF context rather than ‘sufficient’ in the general sense. My clinic gave me prescription for it but really struggled to find it anywhere in the UK. After searching for a while, I found one and it arrived about a week ago. I’m hoping it’d help with the early development of follicles (which is what they claim it does). We will see.

I have to say I do not recommend taking it at all unless fully agreed by your doctor. It’s a hormone precursor so they need to be happy it’s the right supplement in your specific case. However, most IVF consultants don’t proactively consider it as the research on this is still in early stages (and the medical community is often behind the research community). They’d generally only discuss it with you if you bring it up.

Another point on DHEA is that you’d have to take it for 8-10 weeks before IVF. I only started taking it a week ago so it’s too late for this cycle but I’m hoping it’ll benefit my next one (if this cycle doesn’t work). Xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 13:17

@Luludarty Your message implies that you didn’t have a baseline scan (the scan before the consultation to confirm current state of affairs such as uterus, number of follicles, endo health etc)?

If this is the case, do give them a call and ask how they’d know how you’re likely to respond to medication without baseline scan?

They may have a good answer to this. You may have had it done a while back (maybe under NHS?) in which case that should be fine. However, I think normally they’d repeat baseline scan every 3 months for latest view of uterus etc.

Talk to them and let us know how you get on. I'd definitely challenge it! Xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 13:25

@Roo45 hello! Welcome! It sounds like we are on similar protocol and stage. My EC is also currently provisionally end of Nov.

How's buserelin treating you? Any major side effects? Xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 13:36

@Rachae Sorry I meant is your cycle shorter that 28 days? If it’s around 28 days then as you say your period is late by 6 days.

Down reg is the same thing as long route.

Exactly how many days have you injected buserelin so far? Xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 13:42

@ivfhope3 fingers crossed you get going before Xmas!

I really like your idea of thinking about 3-5 posting things each day. I've today already written down that I'm grateful for my 6 follicles (although very low, they're still there!)

Have a safe trip today Smile xx

Rachae · 25/10/2020 17:17

@BrandyM thanks! This is my 14th day on Buserelin

Roo45 · 25/10/2020 17:24

@BrandyM hello! About 1 week in now, the first night I took it I had a massive headache and had a 4 hour nap but since then been ok! No sign of AF yet though. How about you? (Sorry if you've already answered I must have missed it in the thread!) Hope you're doing ok xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 18:11

@Rachae hello! cool ok, so either:-

  1. You started injecting on day 14 of your cycle + you've now done 14 days of injections so far meaning you're on day 28 of your cycle today. Therefore, you're not late.

Or.....

  1. Is it possible that you started injecting on day 21 of your cycle + have been injecting for 14 days now making today day 35 of your cycle (and therefore 6 days late).

If the correct scenario is # 1 above, you're on track. You'd probably get your period in the next day or 2 per your normal cycle.

If # 2 is correct, you're a bit late but that's nothing to worry about as they'd just adjust your menopure starting date.

Also, if #2 is correct, we are on the same protocol so look forward to following your journey as I'm slightly behind you (by about a week).

xx

BrandyM · 25/10/2020 18:22

@Roo45 Glad to hear no side effects except the first day. I’m only on day 4. No side effects yet so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it stays like that.

Keep us updated on how you get on Xx

Luludarty · 25/10/2020 18:33

@BrandyM thanks so much lovely, I have emailed the clinic to find out why I've not been scanned yet. I see that you're helping all of us on here, which is honestly so kind. Hope you're having a good weekend.

Rachae · 25/10/2020 19:00

@BrandyM ah ha! Thank you that must be it! My maths wrong on what date they started me. OK so fingers crossed my period shows up next few days, and great to be on a similar protocol to someone 😊 how have you found injecting?

Roo45 · 25/10/2020 19:31

@Rachae I'm on a similar protocol buserelin 3 weeks and menopur 2 weeks, but started buserelin day 21 of cycle x

Roo45 · 25/10/2020 19:31

Thank you @BrandyM let us know too x

Rachae · 25/10/2020 19:47

Thanks @Roo45 Smile yea I must have gotten my dates wrong for when they started it. Period defo delayed but hoping it comes soon. How have you found it? Any side effects? I hadn't up until today and then just been absolutely floored today! Confusion... extreme fatigue.. Nausea. Haven't moved off the sofa.
In a weird way I'm sort of glad for a few side effects as In my head i feel it's finally working!

Roo45 · 25/10/2020 19:53

@Rachae just on the first day but not since...been taking it about a week now. Haha I know what you mean, I worry too that the lack of side effects means it's not working but I know that's irrational (doesn't IVF make us all irrational sometimes?!) Hope you feel better soon, I think I remember the clinic saying sometimes period can be at a different time than you might expect xx

ivfhope3 · 25/10/2020 21:08
