@hopeful182 I'm so sorry about your BFN. I read about it on the other thread. If I remember correctly, you have your best egg frozen right? Fingers crossed for a successful round this time around xxx

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 20:24

@ivfhope3 glad to hear you're feeling better! I'm sure I'd feel just the same in terms of anxiousness. But hopefully you'll have successful cycle this time around given it's going to be a natural cycle. I sometimes think that all these meds mess the body so much which I think is why more and more clinics are now recommending FETs. Hope the next 4-6 weeks fly by for you xx

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 20:28

@Ellie42567 Hello! Welcome.

So sorry to hear about your losing both Fallopian tubes. I can’t imagine how stressful that might have been for you!

Please ask any questions you might have on here as everyone is so helpful.

What meds are you on for your down reg? I’m on buserelin injections. Xxx

Ellie42567 · 23/10/2020 21:31

@BrandyM Thank you so much. It all happened really quickly the second time and I ended up in emergency surgery as the tube had ruptured, so I didn't have much time to think about it. That was a year ago now any we're finally starting the process! Yippee!

I'll be sniffing nafarelin until the stimulation injections. Have you already started your buserelin injections?

I'm sure I'll have loads of questions as a newbie so thank you for being so kind. I felt a bit shell shocked after the nurse planning appointment! Lol. It's nice to hear from people in the same situation!

hopeful182 · 24/10/2020 07:46

@willithappen I have been through the NHS I found the process relatively quick in my case, obviously not including the delay when clinic was closed due to covid, which is not their fault.

@m1981 I was the same, I am petrified of needles but i found after a couple of times it was OK, I would have to keep in my head that it was for a good reason. Just take it easy, I found going slow worked for me rather than how the professionals do it, whack it in and push the meds in one go. Blush

hopeful182 · 24/10/2020 07:51

@BrandyM hi. Yes I have 1 frostie. Hopefully my body will take this one since it is a different process so my body is only having to make sure it sticks and not stim things beforehand.

You are starting your stimming on the 12th aren't you. It is exciting times. X

Luludarty · 24/10/2020 08:53

Hi Ladies,

Great to see so many newbies (although, I'd sooner none of us had to be on here).

@BrandyM sorry they turned you guys down too. It really upset me at first, but then I found out about their two rounds package and its got some good benefits, so we went with that. I found it really hard having to think about awful eventualities when choosing how we'd pay. It's awful, it turns this health problem into a financial one.

@MF1981 I am due to start injections the same day as you. Mine are getting delivered on Tuesday. Although I have emailed the clinic because I'm sure I read on one of the other chats that I stalked that you have to start them on a certain day of your period right? I am due to stop my Norethisterone on 1st Nov, so that's injections booked for 6 days later. What if my period takes a while to start?

@dragonfly1978 I have 2 Covid swab tests to do. One on the first day of stims and one 7 days later. And they've suggested I stick at home after egg collection until transfer.

Hope everyone is doing okay? It doesn't feel like anything is happening for us yet, buts that because all I'm taking is the pill. I guess when I start jabbing needles into my belly, it will feel like its actually happening. also the massive amount of money that's just left our bank feels pretty real.

x

MF1981 · 24/10/2020 09:33

@Luludarty yeah I have to call the clinic on day 1 of my next period and start injecting on day 2. I’m pretty regular usually so it should be due around the 6th x

EasterBunny7 · 24/10/2020 09:39

Hello. I was recommended to join this group rather than the other ones. Hope that's ok?

I'm new to IVF, due to start on short protocol as soon as Aunt Flo shows herself. Not so patiently waiting for her arrival.

Really worried about a complete lockdown and clinics being closed again.

Rachae · 24/10/2020 09:56

Hey not sure if this is the right place to join but I had a look at the Oct/Nov and it seems I'm too early for that one, as most ladies there have gone past EC. Smile I did post a few qs on that thread tho.

I'm 2 weeks into taking Buserlin and go for my first 'check' a week on Wednesday.

MF1981 · 24/10/2020 10:00

Hello ladies!

Rachae · 24/10/2020 10:00

I'm super confused though as my fertility centre started me on Day 14 of my cycle. Ive noticed a lot of people waiting for day 1... My period is 4/5 days late too and the clinic have said that this will delay things if I don't starty period soon.

MF1981 · 24/10/2020 13:50

Sorry @Rachae I think you’re on a different protocol so I can’t help I’m afraid but I’m sure one of the others will be able to.

I feel so overwhelmed today and I haven’t even started medication yet. Got my appointment through for my mock transfer on Tuesday and a couple of work stresses and I’ve just got this big knot of anxiety in my stomach that won’t seem to go away. Just had a good cry but not even that seems to be doing the trick.

Emmalouise11 · 24/10/2020 14:01

Hi guys I was on the other thread aswell but think I’m too early for that one. I’m on a short protocol and I’ve just started progynova on day 21 of my cycle for 8 days and have a scan next Friday so maybe start injections if the tablets have done what they meant to have lol not sure what they are meant to do though.

@Rachae do you know why they started you on day 14 of your cycle? X

dragonfly1978 · 24/10/2020 14:32

@Emmalouise11 I am nearly the same as you, finish norethisterone today, scan on Thursday and hopefully start stims then 🤞

Jane1284 · 24/10/2020 15:12

Hello fellow new joiners :-) Looking forward to a positive and supportive journey together!

I received my paperwork yesterday from the clinic. I think I am meant to read through it all and sign it when I have my nurse consult on the 3rd Nov. Looks like I am on an antagonist protocol (no pill premedication). Still learning what all the lingo means. Is that Short/long or neither protocol? Based on what it says, after I have my baseline scan on the 11th Nov, I then start taking FSH on day 2 of my next cycle which is estimated to be 16th Nov. Hopefully I am not too far behind the rest of you. I guess if I am I will just have to learn from you all and take in your tips/advice :-)

@BrandyM i don't have anyone to rant about my low AMH/AFC either. I don't have any friends that have been through IVF so none of them really know what I am talking about if i mention AMH and AFC. These boards are really good for that. We are all going through different experiences but we can share the pain and support each other when needed!

My mum keeps telling me that we haven't been trying that long and that we shouldn't need IVF but I don't think she quite understands that the doctor must be concerned about our chances if they recommend starting IVF straight away. I haven't even had a hycosy to see if my tubes are open. I've tried to explain AMH to her but I think unless you have gone through this or know someone who has it can be a bit alien and confusing. I've learned so much in the last year!

I've been on CoQ10 for a few months along with omega 3 and basic prenatal vitamins. I started seeing a naturopath a couple of months ago to see if she could help with diet and any deficiencies I have. She has put me on a bunch of supplements based on some tests I had. Haven't taken DHEA as I think you need a prescription for that in the UK. Did your doctor prescribe it? Something I am interested in for sure. How are you finding it? x

BrandyM · 24/10/2020 17:59

@Ellie42567 Yes I started injections 3 days ago. I haven’t suffered from any side effects just yet (touch wood!). Fingers crossed it continues like this but realistically I will be very lucky to sail through this without any side effects!

It’s all very overwhelming but glad to see that there is a few on us on this thread now in similar stages so we will all get through this together!

Are your meds delivered yet? Xx

BrandyM · 24/10/2020 18:44

@hopeful182 Yes, since your hormone levels will be back to normal your body should be in much better shape to hold on to it! I’m very hopeful for you! Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

Have they confirmed dates for you yet or are you waiting to hear on that?

Yes, I start stimming on the 12th (assuming down reg scan on the 10th confirm thin uterus lining and quiet ovaries). Xx

Luludarty · 24/10/2020 20:19

Hey Girls,

So many of you seem to be having more scans than me. My clinic are only doing one, after my stims, a few days before my EC.

They said it’s to limit the amount of people at the clinic because of Covid.

I’m so worried. They’ve never even scanned my insides. How do they know if they’re any good and there aren’t any issues?

x

Rachae · 24/10/2020 20:41

Hey @Emmalouise11, nope they didn't say so I just thought it was normal to start IVF on any day! I'm injecting buserelin on the long route, that's all I know. Due to start menopure (I think this Is called stimming?) a week on Wednesday. Not sure what happens if I don't have a period tho and I really don't think it's coming now!

Roo45 · 24/10/2020 21:41

I am on the October group too but EC will be end of November about a week into buserelin on the long protocol. Hello everyone!

hopeful182 · 24/10/2020 23:01

@BrandyM no dates yet. I am waiting a call after the meeting they had yesterday about the next step, so hopefully hear from them Monday. I am also hoping that they are looking to do it during my next period, so end of nov beginning of dec, but I will go with what they suggest.

Fingers crossed for the scan on the 10th then. So you can go ahead with the stimming. Xx

BrandyM · 24/10/2020 23:13

@EasterBunny7 Hello! Welcome!

Yes the thought of a lockdown situation worries me also but I’m hoping that they’ve hopefully learnt a lot from the last lockdown and will allow operations (such as well run clinics) to continue if all the appropriate measures are in place. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for all of us xx

BrandyM · 24/10/2020 23:27

@Rachae Hi, welcome! I’m just 2 weeks behind you on the long protocol (buserelin). Saw on the other thread that you have no side effects so far? That gives me so much hope as I’m really worried about some of the side effects people talk about.

Could you contact your clinic to get a bit more clarity on why they started you on day 14? Everyone’s case is different and they’ll have good reasons for it but the buserelin cases I’ve come across so far start on day 21. One thing I can think of is maybe you normally have a short menstrual cycle? Is your cycle normally 28 day long on average?

People starting on day 1 or 2 are on the short protocol as they go straight to stimming (without down regging). I don’t think the day 1/2 starting point applies when you’re on long protocol.

If your period is late, I believe they'll just adjust your treatment plan accordingly. It'll mean you'll likely inject slightly longer but keep in touch with your clinic for accurate guidance but personally I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point (I understand the waiting is frustrating).

Do you know when your downreg scan is booked for?

Let us know how you get on xx

BrandyM · 24/10/2020 23:32

@MF1981 Bless you! This whole journey is so overwhelming. I’ve had a few cries since I started the whole process. I’m convinced that us women going through IVF are literally so strong for dealing with the emotional, physical, financial strain plus on top of it all still carrying on with life, going to work, socialising and dealing with that side of things as if nothing else is going on in our personal life. We are amazing so be really proud of yourself for everything you’re doing and achieving. Allow yourself to cry if that’s what you need to do. Above all, we are all here to listen. Hope you feel better soon. At least it’s the weekend!

Good luck with the mock transfer Tuesday! Let us know how you get on! Xx
