Very apprehensive! It all gets delivered tomorrow so will see how I feel then! How are you doing?

dragonfly1978 · 22/10/2020 11:11

@ivfhope3 am ok thanks. Still on norethisterone and starts stims a week today, just want to start those now! How are you? Any idea when you will be able to go again?

Are people having covid tests or having to self isolate around treatment at all?

ivfhope3 · 22/10/2020 11:33

@MF1981 if you need any help shout :) I'll help as much as I can :) xx

@dragonfly1978 aw the week will come quickly :)

I'm ok. Waiting for this red to stop after fridays procedure, then hopefully will get negative. Then wait for my period an then have a scan on day 11'and transfer after..
so I'm on hold until my next bleed which can be anything from 4-6 weeks after the procedure xxx

MrsF1989 · 22/10/2020 16:57

Hello,

Please can I join this thread 🙋‍♀️. I will be starting on the short protocol around 12th Nov (dependant on AF). This is my first round and I go from feeling exciting, nervous to terrified 😖😄!! Would be great to have company to keep some sort of sanity!

ivfhope3 · 22/10/2020 17:30

Hello @MrsF1989!

MrsF1989 · 22/10/2020 21:04

Hello 😃 thank you. Look forward to hearing how everyone gets on... let's hope Covid doesnt get in the way!!

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 00:17

Hello ladies, sorry I disappeared.

Just wanted to update that I started down regulation injections today (as I'm on the long protocol). I'll be down regulating until 12th Nov and on the 12th start stimming. I was very nervous this morning before my first injection as it's my first round of IVF but it wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be.

@ivfhope3 how are you doing? I'm so glad that you've got the op out of the way and now awaiting your next bleed. Hope you've recovered well after the procedure xx

@MF1981 it's amazing how they assume we know how to inject etc. I had to call and chase for a written instruction and/or video. You'd think they'd proactively provide you all the info you'd need. Not long to go before you start stimming now though xx

@dragonfly1978 no Covid tests for me but have to fill out online 'Covid declaration' forms before each clinic visit. Interesting to hear that diff clinics are approaching COVID differently. You'd think it'll all be standardised...xx

@Luludarty sorry to hear that you were turned down by access. I know exactly how that feels as they also turned me down only 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was very depressed about it not necessarily just because of the financial side of things but more because of their lack of confidence in relation to my chances of success. Hoping both of us can prove their risk assessment wrong! Fingers crossed xx

@MrsF1989 welcome! Sounds like we will start stimming around the same date... xx

MF1981 · 23/10/2020 11:57

Medication all arrived - eeekk! Also been for reproflexology this morning which was so lush. She said she was feeling a lot of anxiety in my chest area so maybe I’m more anxious than even I thought I was. Need to try and do more relaxation stuff I think x

Jane1284 · 23/10/2020 12:17

Hello ladies
Can I please join you on this thread? Would be great to have some others to share this journey with. I was on the other November thread but I think I got a bit ahead of myself as they are all a lot further ahead! I have blood tests next week followed by my nurse appointment the start of November. Booked in for a baseline scan on the 11th Nov. I have no idea when I will be starting IVF but hoping end Nov/early Dec. This is my first cycle so I am not sure how it all works yet or what protocol they will put me on. I guess I can asked the nurses next week.

I have low AMH and low AFC so there is a chance I will not respond well to the meds however I am trying to stay positive and look at this first round as a guide to how my body will react- then I can start thinking about where we go from there. I just get the one round on the NHS and then it is on to private so really hopeful I respond!

Thanks x

ShiMo · 23/10/2020 12:22

Hi everyone,

Hope it’s ok for me to join? I’m a bit behind you, starting down regulation on 9th Nov and will be on long protocol. This is my first IVF round. I have a history of endo but last surgery found no visible endo, so now they’ve lumped us in the ‘unexplained’ category 😭.

I’ve only told work, simply because I’ll have to take time off. Most of my friends all have babies and none have experienced what we are going through, so it’s difficult for them to understand this process and I’m finding that I can’t really talk to any of them about this. It’s true that you can only really understand infertility if you’ve been through it!

Fingers crossed for each of you 😊

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 12:35

@MF1981 for me when my meds arrived last Friday it made the whole thing real. I'm sure you felt the same today. Did you mention that you are starting stimming 6th Nov? Xx

@Jane1284 welcome! I have low AMH (2.4) and low AFC (6) too and by the sounds of things a bit ahead of you. I'll share my journey here in case it helps you and others In a similar situation in anyway. Just like you, I'm also trying to stay as positive as I can but I found these threads really helpful. I learnt a lot from people actually going through it than from my consultant and nurses. Xx

@ShiMo welcome! Did they explain to you why they wanted you on the long protocol? Xx

Jane1284 · 23/10/2020 12:46

Hi @BrandyM -thank you :-) It will be great to share this journey with someone in a similar situation. My AMH is 4.5 but i only had 2 AFC. Hoping the AFC will go up by my next scan as i believe it can change month to month- we shall see. I was initially really shocked by my AMH results but after speaking to quite a few women with low AMH and AFC and hearing their positive stories I have become very hopeful. Just trying to take it one day at a time right now!
Is this your first cycle too? Sorry if i have missed you explaining your story previously x

ShiMo · 23/10/2020 12:46

@BrandyM thank you! How are you feeling down regging? Thanks for sharing your journey so far, think we all appreciate it, especially us newbies!

No explanation re. Long protocol, they said that it’s the standard process as I have regular periods etc (NHS). Not very helpful!

MF1981 · 23/10/2020 18:04

@BrandyM yes you’re exactly right - it feels very real! I’m sure that feeling will only increase as time goes on. AF is due 6th Nov so if she plays ball then I’m due to start stimming on 7th Nov. You?

MF1981 · 23/10/2020 18:04

Hello to those who have joined!

ivfhope3 · 23/10/2020 18:59

@hopeful182 heya it's this group

Welcome all newbies :)

@MF1981 how are you feeling now etc. Once you get started I'm sure it will aside, it's so nerve racking starting. The whole ivf process is such a hurdle of emotions.. xxx

@BrandyM I'm ok I feel better actually. I'm just so anxious about starting again.

I love the way clinics just go here's a bag see ya.. I had to use another progesterone but in needle forms they come one massive one an I mean massive an one small. I had to phone up an ask why, one is for drawing it out an the other for injecting, on day of transfer she was quite stressy that she had to show me. 2 days later had to do it myself, well it went wrong an I didn't end up having that one..

Hope everyone is ok :) xxxx

Hi ladies,

Please can I join?? I'm on my first IVF cycle after losing both fallopian tubes to ectopics. I start down regulating on 4th November.

Would love to see how you all get on! Fingers crossed for everyone!

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 19:44

@Jane1284 No problem! It’s great to go through it together. Mine and DH’s immediate family know we are going through IVF but they’ll never understand if I wanted to rant about my low AMH and AFC! Haha

Yes it’s my first IVF too and I’m on day 2 of down regulation injections.

Glad to hear that you’re hearing positive stories from ladies with low AMH/AFC. When I was first told about my low AMH and AFC, I was properly down for days! I’m 37 and thought I’d have at least another 3 years before I run out of eggs.

My consultant then said that my AFC was better than my AMH. They expected me to have lower than 6 AFC considering how low my AMH is. So I’m now immensely grateful for the 6 I have.

As you say, I think AFC can change from month to month. Here’s hoping that both ours go up when it really matters (the month of egg collection).

Are you on any egg quality related supplements at all? I started taking ubiquinol (for egg quality) and DHEA (to improve AFC although the current clinical evidence on this is very weak) xxx

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 20:04

@ShiMo Hello!

So far I don’t feel any different. I think it’s because I’m only on day 2 of the injections. I think most of the side effects start a few days into it. I’m hoping it continues like this though!

If you try and ask the NHS the specifics of why you’re on long protocol, do you think they’ll respond? I’m not sure if they are generally dismissive with questions like that but it might be worth a try?

If you have good egg count and regular period, I think short protocol might be a lot easier on your body plus shorter time. Of course your doctor knows best in terms of what’s right for you but I’ve also realised that sometimes they take a fairly blanket approach.

Another item from my limited experience so far, if they insist you have to be on long protocol then ask if you have options on the down reg medication. If you do, then I’d recommend the injection rather than the one you sniff. I can tell you why once you find out what your options are. Xxx

BrandyM · 23/10/2020 20:09

@MF1981 Hello!

I’m currently down to start stimming on the 12th Nov so you’d be ahead of me by about 6 days. Look forward to following your journey. Please keep us updated xxx
