@Everhopeful35

I don't have too much knowledge/experience with scans/hcg levels/sizes this early as the only early scans I've had showed ectopics other than this one but last years ectopic I was scanned at 5wk6days and there was a noticeable heartbeat but I wasn't given the size as everyone was in a bit of a panic 😬

My foetal pole length or crown rump length on Monday was 4.13mm for one and 5.3mm for the other - which if they grow 1mm per day my smaller one is only a day larger than yours? With a bit of digging around she did find a heartbeat on both but the smaller one was hard to find so maybe hadn't been long starting?

I've been on google too much this week too and everything I could find suggested that it's usually 4mm for a heartbeat and it's only if the crown rump length (CRL) is 5mm+ and there is no visible heartbeat does it become worrying but then some studies say it's more like 7mm is the cut off? I only found one medical research report which stated heartbeats could be detected when CRL is less than 3mm - So I think there is a lot of conflicting information because it's not studied/investigated widely

Everhopeful35 · 12/07/2020 20:48

@ivfdreaming Thank you so much for replying. It's nice to know someone else is Googling like a madwoman too 🤣 It's interesting that your doc had to really search for a heartbeat at just over 4mm. That's given me hope that 3mm is just too tiny. Yours both sound like they were doing we'll size-wise at that early scan though, so that's encouraging? How many weeks were you? I'm six weeks one day. I'm pleased my hormone went up today. They said that because I lost a twin, it could have affected my HCG readings in the past week, so that's why they said it shot up. It's by no way a guarantee that it's all going well, but at least it's something!

HT2101 · 12/07/2020 21:02

Thanks @BabySweet85, my previous egg collections have been under GA, so good to hear even under sedation I still won’t know what’s going on.

@Everhopeful35 I’ve decided Dr Google is just not our friend, particularly when our hormones are going crazy. Fingers crossed Monday doesn’t drag for you

ivfdreaming · 12/07/2020 22:05

@Everhopeful35

I get different dates depending on what I put in to various apps - by my last period I would have been 6+1 on the day of the scan but 6+3 based on egg collection/transfer day but I don't know if using frozen embryos makes a difference as I've heard sometimes they can be a bit slower to get going? Then google gives different calculations based on the crown rump length (CRL) - some say both measured 6+1 but then i found a study which is more specific to IVF transfers and that said my CRL measurements were more like 6+3 or 4 🤷‍♀️

I'm a bit of a geek and have 2 degrees although I stress that neither are remotely related to the medical field but I find I can lose hours "researching" and reading medical journals and studies and sort of enjoy it! (The doctors at my clinic not so much though as I'm always asking them about things I've read - knowledge can be power but too much knowledge can also be a bad thing! 🤣)

@pattaz2711

Good luck today - what time is your appointment? X

Everhopeful35 · 13/07/2020 11:45

@pattaz2711 Good luck xx

Evey43 · 13/07/2020 11:55

@pattaz2711 hope it goes well xx

pattaz2711 · 13/07/2020 12:47

Hey they've seen a heartbeat but was very slow. An sac is still irregular so god knows still no answers

ivfdreaming · 13/07/2020 12:57

@pattaz2711

Good news that they've seen a heartbeat? Did they say how fast it was?

How many weeks are you supposed to be?

pattaz2711 · 13/07/2020 12:58

@ivfdreaming 6+3 weeks they haven't said yet just waiting for the nurse now x

ivfdreaming · 13/07/2020 13:07

Maybe ask if the baby measured the right size for being 6+3 and hopefully they'll be able to give you some feedback x

pattaz2711 · 13/07/2020 13:21

@ivfdreaming she said the sac has grown but still very irregular, everything is measuring 6+2 an said they just can't say what's is going to happen. As the sac is irregular and heartbeat is slow

BabySweet85 · 13/07/2020 13:23

@pattaz2711 how frustrating that you don’t have the answers you need. What is the follow up/next step?

BabySweet85 · 13/07/2020 13:24

@HT2101 how was egg retrieval hun? X

ivfdreaming · 13/07/2020 13:25

@pattaz2711

I'm sorry you didn't get any firm answers and it all just adds to the stress/anxiousness. The thing to be positive about though is that you are measuring right for your dates and there is a heartbeat. You had such high hcg levels maybe your sac is an odd size because there was a vanishing twin?

What's the plan now? Will you get scanned again in a couple of days? X

pattaz2711 · 13/07/2020 13:25

@BabySweet85 have a scan with the clinic on Wednesday but don't think much would have changed.. they've told me it's a waiting game to see what happens

BabySweet85 · 13/07/2020 13:29

@pattaz2711 how are you feeling about that? I really hope Wednesday goes well x

pattaz2711 · 13/07/2020 14:05

@ivfdreaming @BabySweet85 so I keep the clinic scan an see what happens the said there not hopeful..
I feel like shit an tearful.
I know it grown an I said that to them it's a good thing an I said it's good that they can see the heartbeat an they said it is but it's not how we should see it.. they said most of the consultants work up the clinic, so when I go Wednesday there hopefully put a plan into place..
I don't know what to do. Do I best rest until then.. do I carry on

Everhopeful35 · 13/07/2020 15:17

@pattaz2711 I'm so sorry to hear you're still in limbo. How bloody awful. The positives are that there's been some growth and there's a heartbeat. Perhaps it's just too early to tell whether that heartbeat is worryingly slow - it may be faster on Wednesday. I hate that all these things are just a waiting game. But I pray that you get a resolution by the end of the week. Please keep us updated.

I'm not feel confident about good news at my scan tomorrow. I have grown spotting again as of last night, which is worrying me. I keep wondering whether I feel less pregnant today than I have... Waiting is just unbearable.

ivfdreaming · 13/07/2020 15:56

@pattaz2711

I'm so sorry I really hope things are better Wednesday

@Everhopeful35

They say as long as it's brown then it's nothing to worry about and could be connected to your vanishing twin?

Some days I feel different and other days I feel normal - more normal days than anything else

What time is your scan tomorrow? Mine isn't until 230pm so all day to stress. Plus have the midwife appointment before it at 1030 which just feels like I'm going to jinx things x

Dbrook · 13/07/2020 15:59

@pattaz2711 sorry you didn’t get a straightforward answer today. Hope you get some more clarity on Wednesday xx

Everhopeful35 · 13/07/2020 16:04

@ivfdreaming Thank you for your reassurance 😘 Have you had any spotting? I'm glad I'm not the only one with next to no pregnancy symptoms. Just tiredness and light-headedness really, and boobs that are sometimes sore and sometimes not. I had two days of spotting last week, around the find the twin must have been disappearing but it stopped. Then it came back last night and I've got myself into a state, thinking it's a bad sign. Sorry to hear your scan has at 2.30 - that's annoying. Mine is at 9am but I'm so scared... just don't want to go. Have convinced myself it'll be bad news. Not feeling great today.

ivfdreaming · 13/07/2020 16:21

@Everhopeful35

I haven't had any spotting. But I know not to rely on that - when they found I'd miscarried at a 12 week scan previously I hadn't had any spotting. With my other miscarriages I've either had brown spotting which changed to red within a few days or a large red bleed which then went on to full loss. Other than the 12 week scan they've all tended to have the same symptom of starting with a really heavy feeling in my uterus that was really tender to touch if I pushed on that area. Even lack of symptoms - all my miscarriages I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms no sore boobs no morning sickness nothing but then with my DD I didn't have any with her either and it obviously turned out fine

I only get sore boobs 2 hours or so after doing the progesterone pessaries so I know they are only related to that and not any natural pregnancy hormones.

@Everhopeful35

Good luck this morning xx
