Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

Racs83 · 01/03/2020 16:50

Same here @hoping1. I keep checking it to see if I've missed anything. I think it's upstairs but will check at the reception bit where you go in. I'll be there about the same as have work as well. Traffic and getting up on time depending Smile. Early night I think.

Might see you there then in the morning. Xxx

NRW39 · 01/03/2020 21:43

@Lemongrass1 Eeek! I know. Start this coming Friday.

How are you feeling about it all? @Lizzybee80 @Lemongrass1?x

P.s recommended television to distract/make you laugh/leave you shocked... Love is Blind on Netflix. If you haven't seen it, tune in asap!

Lemongrass1 · 01/03/2020 22:34

@NRW39 I don’t really know how I feel! Very guilty of making theoretical plans if it worked. But equally have been planning the next cycle 😅

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 16:20

@hoping1 hey, hope you got on ok today. Got my next appointment booked for the 17th March. X

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 16:41

@Racs83 i am so confused been in for bloods today was given a prescription for the pill to get today. Got it and was told to ring . Rang them they said docs now dont want anyone to take the pill were you told this ? Then said they may ring me back to tell me a date today or tomorrow depending if they talk to doc about it xx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 16:50

@Hoping1 you know what I am confused too. Not quite the same though. I rang and was told they would ring back. They did and said I didn't need to do anything until day 22 as I'm on long protocol so have booked the appt for the 17/3. After talking to them initially I rang back because I was a little confused as thought collection date was meant to be w/c 13/4. They said that is only a guide!!! Anyway both of the nurses I spoke to had a very strong word with me about my weight (which I have steadily been losing and am now within the BMI guidelines) not great when you are highly hormonal!! So feel a bit crappy after the call now.

Nothing was mentioned about the pill to me. Very strange if you ask me. Hopefully they will get back to you today so you know what is going on. Xxxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 16:53

So have you been told to take the pill did you collect it today xxxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 18:00

@Racs83 just got off the phone to them we in on 17th at 1.30 pm xxxx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 18:10

@Hoping1 well I have the same day appointment at 10:30am. Haven't been told to take the pill though. They didn't give me a prescription. Wasn't mentioned at all. Did you say you were long protocol as well? This is so confusing xxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 18:24

@Racs83 yea on long they dont want people to take it just forgot not to give me it and let me pay £9 for it xxxx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 18:42

@hoping1 well that's unhelpful of them. Luckily I have a prepayment certificate that covers all prescriptions. Well worth getting. Not helpful this time sadly. Typically we'll miss each other again at the next appointment Shock xx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 18:46

@Racs83 what time did you het there today xxx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 18:53

@hoping1 Pretty much at 8am. Was out of the car park by about 8.15am. Didn't even have to pay for parking it was that quick lol. I was up about 5.50am this morning (this is not like me, I love my bed too much).

What time did you get there for? Xxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 19:03

@Racs83 was there about 8.15 must have just missed each other lol i was with an old man with walking stick my dad you must of pass us xxx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 19:11

@hoping1 oh no. We must have just missed each other lol.

How are you feeling about it all? Xxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 19:36

I feel ok lv just waiting game again isnt it .how do you feel about it all @Racs83 xxx

Racs83 · 02/03/2020 19:54

@hoping1 same here. Feels like I'm running then hitting a wall. Start running again to find another wall. It's quite exhausting but hopefully worth it in the end.

Not sure how others feel. Hopefully the same as us lol xxxx

Hoping1 · 02/03/2020 21:15

Hope everyone on here gets there happy ending xxx

Lizzybee80 · 04/03/2020 10:10

@NRW39 @Lemongrass1

Hola cycle buddies.
Two days to go Eeekkk!!

Not sure how I’m feeling to be honest. Calm about it all at the moment but that can all change 😂
It’s our very first ( and only paid) nhs cycle so trying to stay super positive but not keeping
my expectations too high.

Thanks for the Netflix recommendation 👍🏼
I’m currently watching Steven kings the outsider- that’ll take your mind off everything if you like anything scary 😱

I can’t recall what meds you ladies are on. But did your nurse recommend a specific time for the once day injection buserelin? Or if you have something similar. As didn’t know if there’s a better time or not. Or if it’s just what works best for us.

Good luck to you all :)

NRW39 · 04/03/2020 11:03

Hi @Lizzybee80. Eeek indeed.
I'm just going with it, and I'll deal with any emotions as and when on Friday! I've been doing pretty well recently, so I'm def entering into this cycle feeling ok and calm.... for now!

I'm doing a FET, so I've been prescribed: Buserelin, Progynova & Cyclogest pessaries; these are messy little buggers that you have to insert vaginally or rectally. Either way they're a pain in the arse!! Ha Top Tip. If you are prescribed these, do NOT wear your best knickers: they will get ruined and if you are wearing your best, make sure you use a panty liner. I read a very accurate description of the pessaries the other day: Satan's Waxy Tears. Just perfect.

I've always administered the Buserelin injections in the morning after my shower, around 730am, then it's over and done with and you can move on with your day!

Let us know how you get on after your first injection. Are you nervous at all about this, or will you have help doing it? X

Lizzybee80 · 04/03/2020 11:34

@NRW39

Glad your feeling ok about it thus far. That’s a good frame of mind to be in.
Ha... come Friday we might be emotional wrecks! 😂

Ahh I have actually been prescribed Cyclogest pessaries to take following egg collection and embryo transfer.
That made me chuckle- thanks for the tip! I’ve got some god awful knickers usually saved for ladies week I’ll have to wear all the time. Poor DH!

Yeah I think that’s what will work best for me too. Just incase I end up finishing work late, or am out of an evening- mornings would definitely be easier.

Feeling ok about it at the moment. I’m a nurse so I’ve injected multiple poor patients in the past but never quite myself so hopefully I can pluck up the courage to do it! If all fails I’ll get hubby to take over.
How did you find the injections?

Xx

NRW39 · 04/03/2020 12:27

@Lizzybee80. Defo ha. it will hit me on the day. It always does.

I've been fine with the injections. I've never done one myself, but hoping to have a go this time round. For me there was No pain or discomfort. I just got a bit fed up with them, but I guess that's to be expected.

I bought myself an IVF diary/journal for this cycle - It's sectioned out with pages for appointments, medication and dosage, two week wait and you can note your water intake etc. I've previously documented all of my cycles in writting. Sometimes it's useful to offload in writting. I've found it helped me alot. I'll continue to write, aswell as use the journal/diary. This may be something you should consider doing too Star. Just a suggestion by the way... xx

Lizzybee80 · 04/03/2020 12:47

@NRW39

Yeah that’s perfectly natural to feel fed up of them. That’s good you had help with your past injections, I can imagine it makes your partner feel very involved too.
I’m currently subjecting myself to more needles and trying acupuncture too! Hoping it helps alleviate any stress going into this.
Have you tried it before?

That sounds so helpful! Did you find the diary online? I’ve been looking for something similar to document our journey. I’ve been taking photos of a few things including my meds etc so can piece it all together at some point. Xx
