Ivf March/April?

Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sorry I know it’s late joining this post I’ve started ivf 1 failed 4 frozen first cycle 22 eggs.. I was advised to do a natural cycle, but couldn’t track ovulation, so now on medicated

I’m so nerves an scared it’s taken 2 years to do it again,
An then started an was goong for my scan before lockdown an all was cancelled the day before.. so I’m now starting again
I’m reading all the time online so thought I’d join a group.

I’m now taking prognova my lining wasn’t thick enough so now on 4 a day, it’s hard when going through this as you feel a little lonely does anyone get that? I feel with ivf it’s all on me. As it’s my body there putting into.

I’m just wondering what people’s dosage are aswell an can the lining be to thick..

Hope everyone is well an safe

@Chimp58537- Sorry to hear about the potential clotting disorder. At least you can have further testing and find out for sure. I thought I'd private message the info re the NIPT, as its more specifically pregnancy related than just purely IVF which the thread was started as x

@Elouera, at the hospital I was told the OHSS has caused fluid in my abdomen and potential lungs and also this could cause me blood clots, guess thats why I've got them, prob just as well, found out yesterday from my brother that he has some kind of gene issue which means he is more 8times more likely to get a blood clot than normal avg. People, this means I might have it as well... Sad

Just been looking up NIPT tests, it is soooooo scary thinking about all this. Feel like its taken a journey and a half to get to this stage and now I feel like I'm going to be anxiously waiting the next 8months hoping/praying /wish that we have a healthy baby.

From what I've read the NHS offers screening tests, is this different from a NIPT /private test? Are you choosing to go private? if so, why? if you dont mind me asking. I'm feeling abit confused and lost at the moment...

Hi, has anyone who had their cycles cancelled heard anything from their clinics lately? I wonder if it could be one of the treatments they'd consider getting back underway, what are people's thoughts? X

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining.
I am 6 months TTC and suddenly in the past 3 months my period became very irregular. My period has been normal always before that (26yo).
My last two cycles were 45 days and also the ovulation tests are showing positive for the better part of the month, which makes me think I might have a hormone issues.
My blood and fertility tests were good back in August when we started trying to conceive.
Anyone else related to similar situation?

Best of luck girls 🐥

A PE is a pulmonary embolism, a clot in the lung. I thought with your breathing issues and taking blood thinners, you might have a clot? Are the blood thinners for the OHSS then?

My IVF clinic (within a major, London hospital) would normally do a viability scan at 7-8 weeks. I called them when positive, but they advised to try getting a scan at a closer hospital to my home. I booked a phone consult with GP. He arranged scan in local EGU (early gynae unit). Handy as its a 10min walk. He also sent me the form to self refer to the midwifery team.

I assume the next step is waiting to hear from the midwives? Never got that far before to actually see one. I do plan on having the NIPT though, so am looking up places to have that done. It can be done from 10 weeks.

@Elouera wow sounds like you have had a journey and a half, guess everyone on here has.

Congratulations btw Flowersmust have been amazing to hear an actual heartbeat, I've got my scan next week (think we are pretty much at the same stage?? I think I'm on week 6 now) mega excited and nervous about that, I still dont believe that I'm PG even though I have done 2 tests and they were positive, think the scan will make it a lil bit more real.

Thanks for the tip about the cream, I've never heard about it before, need to inject for another 6weeks so will see if I can grab some on amazon.

I didnt have any signs of OHSS first time around, I do wonder if I missed signs myself this time, think I was really sensitive after EC but was sooooo desperate to get in before the lockdown that I told myself it was normal. Breathing is sporadic, I found it usually becomes erratic after bfast, its seems to be slowly down so im guessing I'm making progress.

I'm also MEGA MEGA MEGA bloated, 3weeks ago, I looked like I was 15months pregnant with triplets, am not even joking, I was massive. It now juts looks like I'm 5months PG, not 6 weeks Hmm

So what happens after the 6 week scan? Are we handed back to our doctors? Is the next one the 12week scan??

P.s still new to this, what is PE?

@Chimp58537- Welcome to group and welcome to mumsnet.

My background- TTC 9yrs, 2 losses. After a long battle to get tests done & referred (no cause for sub-fertility found) I saw consultant last year. Told I need to lose weight to qualify for 1 round of IVF before Mar this year. Lost 11kg & the referral back took forever- again issues at GP practice and them not knowing how to refer back!

Finally back at IVF clinic Jan (they shut over Christmas), then told they were booked up till April! I advised that my then, I'd be too old to qualify, so told they'd put me on the pill for almost 2mths! Once I've started treatment, that's all the local authority care about apparently. They called the following day to say a slot did come up to start in Feb/Mar, so only 1mth on the pill.

I was fortunate that I didn't get OHSS, so cant advise on that. 12 eggs removed (some immature), 3 fertilised, 2 embryo put in, and 7 weeks pregnant now with 1 viable heartbeat (scan yesterday). The week we had embryo transfer, we got an email saying our NHS clinic had been shut all week, except those ladies already in the pipeline. I can only assume I was one of the last before shutting, and am so very grateful that they fitted us in before my birthday and lockdown.

Did you have any signs of OHSS the 1st time? Do you have a viability scan booked in? Have you tried emla cream to help with the painful blood thinners? Its a local anaesthetic cream you apply to skin prior to blood tests, tattoos, cannulating kids etc. You can buy it from larger pharmacies or order online. Normally, you'd put a blob the size of a pea on the skin and cover in a plastic dressing and leave for up to an hour. It starts white, but absorbs into the skin and goes an opaque colour. I used it for my stimulation injections, but didn't have the dressings. I'd put a blob on my skin, then sit watching TV for 30mins or so, trying not to touch the cream. It certainly took the edge of them.

I hope your breathing is easing. Did you get a PE?

@Chimp58537 - welcome. I’m fairly new myself and you have defo cracked the abbreviations more than me.

I’m sorry but I can’t comment on OHSS but I’m sure there will be loads that can, maybe not here but on other groups .

What I can do is tag you into a group of a couple of people that just got in with embryo transfer prior to lockdown, who have just got through their TWW which may help for onward support .

Good luck and congrats on your positive

Hi, can I please join in? Bit nervous, 1st time posting on here but thought it might be nice chatting to people in similar situations as me.

So here goes...

I have PCOS.

Tried IVF 10years ago, with a previous partner, 1 fresh transfer - neg. 1FET - miscarried.

10years later thought I'd give it another shot with my new DH (not too great with all the abbreviations just yet lol). Managed to start meds just before the lock down so clinic allowed us to transfer an embryo. After waiting patiently it was positive. Although I am mega excited, I'm also really scared as I've been here b4, plus this time round I've ended up with severe OHSS which resulted in me being hospitalised for 5days.

I think I'm 3 or 4 weeks in and still recovering, still struggling with breathing some parts of the day and moving around.

I have to inject myself with blood thinners every night, I hate hate hate it, much worse than the ivf injections.

Anyone else had OHSS? not telling anyone about the positive result yet, so can't discuss it with anyone and I really want to!

@bunhead34 I’m taking the pregnacare tablets, they are biggish and taste horrible, I’m not good at taking tablets and have gagged a few times trying to take them but the more I take them it’s getting easier. I like how there is all the vitamins all in the one tablets, folic acid, vit c,d,e, b12 zinc etc

Does anyone take a good pre natal vitamin that isn't massive - I have trouble swallowing pills!
Put it seems like a great opportunity to get primed for FET later.

Also I'd love any other reccs, I currently
Take b12 and folic acid

@41trying I would think that 12 days post egg collection would be a safe time to test? The wait is torture but it’s better in the long run to test when you have some certainty if you get a bfp

@Tarsette I’m really sorry to hear this. My first cycle failed and I know how disappointing it is. You have some frosties ready to go so at least you can now decide to move on to the next round if you want to. Hope you’re ok

@Lianne32 - 3 in the freezing is amazing, that’s a great number!

@Elouera - so many congratulations to you - sounds like this has been a long long time coming. Have everything crossed for you over the coming weeks. I got my bfp today today (after a nervous start where I used a clear blue test which failed on me - no control line!)

@Elouera - I’m not sure on grades either it just what they told me - I have 3 in the freezer today, 2 being watched Until tomorrow and then il get an update ( not sure on the others they wasn’t mentioned)

I had 14 eggs, 10 fertilised but 1 went a bit wrong So had 9 viable on day 1, then 5 front runner embryos on day 3 with some lagging and potential 5 blasts xx

Report
Elouera · 01/04/2020 15:43

@Lianne32- I assume that's great news? I was never given any details such as hatching, A/B etc etc. All I was told was that 1 was blasto and one wasn't quite there on day 5, just before they were put in. Am I correct that with the 3 in the freezer, you therefore have 10 fertilised eggs all together?

They are giving the others till tomorrow - and needed to look at another embryo under the microscope to possibly freeze it today or leave it longer xx

Hope everyone is ok!

Thanks for your wishes! Feeling pretty low now.
@bunhead34 it’s actually my 4th cycle (1 successful fresh transfer, 1 cancelled FET, 1 failed FET and this latest chemical). I feel a bit as if I have experienced every possible outcome (except miscarriage, touch wood I will never have to go through that). congrats on your great numbers! I really hope you will be able to transfer soon.
@Elouera That’s amazing news!!! I know how stressful the coming weeks can be but try and give yourself a few days to just enjoy the «now» and bask in the good news. You’ve earned that!
