Ivf March/April?

Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Lizzybee80 Exactly. Administering the injections makes him feel like he's more involved in the process.

Haven't tried acupuncture before. I don't think I fancy it! I feel quite Zen at the moment anyway. I gave up booze from cycle 1, ate shit loads of salad, avocado, yoga etc and this cycle I've given up red meat. At 5 cycles in, I'm a bit more relaxed diet wise this time round...

Oh yeah- the diary! Yes, I got it off of ETSY.

@Lizzybee80 @NRW39 I start Buserelin the day after you. Also doing a FET so I’ve got Buserelin, progynova, utrogestan pessaries and lubion progesterone injections. So two lots of injections for me! Don’t love the Lubion, it stings and leaves a sore patch. But it loads better than the progesterone in oil which is horrific... Have to use two pessaries twice daily so it’s gonna be messy 🤣 I’ve done acupuncture before, found it quite relaxing. Not doing it this time as I find it hard to find the time for the appointments. Have had a lot of stuff on recently so I’ve not been thinking too much about IVF last few days but it will hit me on Sat I’m sure. X

@NRW39

Thanks for the journal info! They look really cute, certainly made with love! 💖
Great thing to be able to organise your appts and jot down your emotions going through this journey.

Ahh speaking of diet- I got really obsessed in the beginning reading too much info on what to eat, what not, what supplements to take etc etc! Got really bogged down by it. I Eat generally well as it is so not too concerned atm.

@Lemongrass1
Hope your double lot of daily injections go ok. The Lubion doesn’t sound very pleasant.
More pessaries- aren’t we lucky! I need to get to the shop and stock up on some pantyliners!
It’s probably a good thing you’ve had a busy week to keep your mind off of it.

We can do this ✌🏽Xxx

Hi everyone.. hope I'm okay to join this group!

Started my first cycle in January, had egg collection however my cycle got cancelled due to OHSS risk! I've got 3 embryos frozen and due to have a FET this month.

Provisional ET booked in for 17th March depending on my lining and currently on estrogen patches!

I was on a January thread previously and didn't really post much but found it reassuring reading everyone's journey and knowing there as lots of others going through the same thing.

Good luck to you all 🥰 xx

I'm lurking on this thread too from the January thread as my final egg collection got cancelled so waiting to start again hopefully the end of this month with a transfer this time x

@Lemongrass1 I'm going to be having lubion this time having had the horrendous oil ones before - does lubion go in the muscle too?! Got my nurse appointment tomorrow to go through all this stuff and then hopefully have an idea of dates - presumably when AF starts as they haven't mentioned norethisterone or the pill?

Hope everyone is doing ok! X

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted
The waiting is the worst bit isn't it!! Haven't to learn to be patient which is difficult.

Is anyone else using patches? I'm finding they aren't sticking to my skin very well at all and worried I'm not getting enough in my system!

@LBJ2410 welcome! Hope all goes well with ET. Are you on treatment now?

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I hope you are able to start again this month. Must have been frustrating to have egg collection cancelled. The days feel like weeks and the weeks like months in this process!

@Wesstywoo They are subcutaneous, so I’ve previously done them in the tummy. They are a bit sore but 100X better than the oil ones. After 3 of those I could barely walk and had to beg to be changed. Had a numb patch on my bum that lasted for months after.

@LBJ2410 I used the patches during a really hot summer and they just wouldn’t stay on for the duration. I ended up buying some tegaderm adhesive patches to stick on top. I also found the patches left a horrible residue which wouldn’t come off with any amount of scrubbing and used zoff adhesive remover wipes which worked a treat.

For those of you on patches, did you have difficulty getting hold of them? My clinic usually uses patches but has switched to tablets as apparently there’s a national shortage.

@NRW39 @Lizzybee80 you are kicking off tomorrow!!

@NRW39- good luck with your first try at self injections. I’m sure you will be fine x

@Lemongrass1 that's a good idea about getting something to stick on top! Feel like I'm wasting them!

I had to get the pharmacy to order them in especially but they didn't seem to have a problem. The clinic did warn us about a shortage though!

Morning ladies. Happy Friday!

@Lizzybee80 @Lemongrass1. I did it! My first ever self administered injection. It was a piece of piss Ha - I'd clearly previously worked myself up about it for no reason.

How did it go @Lizzybee80?

It's surprising how this injection has made me feel today. I feel strong and able, so I'm running with that. X

Good morning ladies and a very happy Friday to you too!

@NRW39 Yeyyyyy! 👏🏼👏🏼 Well done you for self administering. Go team!

I can see why you may have worked yourself up about it before. Took me couple minutes or so holding the needle above my skin before I injected- I was fighting it at first but all done!!
Wasn’t actually as bad as I what I thought it would be.

Good luck for tomorrow @Lemongrass1

Sorry to hear you have longer to wait and to DR @41trying

Reassured to hear the injections aren't all that bad @NRW39 and @Lizzybee80 I had my nurse appointment yesterday where she explained it all and I had visions of me sitting with a needle for hours trying to persuade myself to do it! so well done!

I did my injection myself again this morning. I'm gonna let my partner do some though- think he's feeling a bit left out!

@NRW39 yay, great that your injections went well!!! And @Lizzybee80 glad you’ve managed to start too with no problems

@41trying rubbish that your down reg is going on and on. It’s frustrating not being able to move forwards. Hope next scan bring good news

@hoping1 thanks! Enjoy your new diary x

I’ve been so distracted I nearly forgot the first injection. Woke up in the night and remembered and hurriedly put the bits out to inject in the morning. I think the needles they gave me this time are much smaller than before so it didn’t even really hurt as it went in. Did do a 1 min hover with the needle first though! Just 17 more to go until first scan. Went to buy some sanitary towels in preparation today and the shelves had been cleared out at supermarket!

I’ve got a trial embryo transfer on Tuesday. Has anyone had this yet? I’m expecting it to be a bit like a smear test but I’m not sure.

I’ve been having down reg injections for two weeks and for 1st time yesterday I did these myself 💪🏼 Yay!!!!

Hope things are going well for everyone 💗💗

41trying · 07/03/2020 18:52

Hey@UncleBrynFishingtrip, you are right, a little like a smear, I had one last round, it's so they have a clear route through for transfer. Takes minutes.

Report
Lizzybee80 · 08/03/2020 15:58

@Lemongrass1 Aw at least you remembered in the end! Ha ha I can imagine most do a little hover with the needle at first. It gets easier each time!

Did you manage to get any sanitary towels? It’s crazy out there,people are bulk buying in fear of this coronavirus!

How are you getting on @NRW39 ?

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip

No I haven’t had a trial transfer, I don’t recall my clinic saying they would do that. Is that something they’d do as standard?
Well done to you for injecting yourself.

If anyone feels like they need any extra support I downloaded an app called Mindful IVF. There’s lots of 10 minute mindfulness sessions on there that are free, which I’ve found super helpful for my anxiety and kept me calm. Supports you through the down reg, waiting room meditation and stimulating phase etc etc
There’s other programmes on there you can pay for which I haven’t done yet.
