Ivf March/April?

426 replies

bunhead34 · 05/02/2020 10:12

Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Lemongrass. Great! You'll be a day behind me- I start on the 6th. Will it be your first FET?

Report
Lemongrass1 · 19/02/2020 14:10

Ah that’s great! Maybe we will be on 2WW together. This is my second FET, am on same protocol as last time. How about you?

@Lemongraas1. Oh yeah we probably will be going mad on the tww at the same time! Ha.

I'll be on Long protocol and injecting with Buserelin: Actually my partner will be administering the injections- I've never done a single one! It makes him feel useful.

Question for those who have already been through Ivf -
I am looking at booking some time off during my Ivf cycle. When are the busiest times with scans etc? I'm thinking the few days before egg collection, and between collection and transfer?
I suppose it's hard to say, you never know what's going to happen!

I've just arranged the delivery of
My meds (£940?! Is that normal?) so it's starting to feel real now! X

Hi @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted yes I think we have discussed natural modified on different thread! Smile So helpful to have someone around going through the same as not many people seem to try it. Good luck for your final cycle - have they kept the meds the same on each go?

@Wesstywoo
No mine has been "tweaked" slightly each time and so far each time had better quality blastocysts at the end of it x

Hope it’s ok to join this group as I start my IVF meds this week and egg collection will be in March (hopefully!)

@NRW39 you are on the same protocol and injections as me. I started my first buserelin injection yesterday. Really easy to do and not painful at all.

Just read that some of you have 3 rounds funded.

We only get one which I know is better than none but it just seems unfair. Both met all of CCG criteria but they only offered us one round. Fingers crossed!!!!! If not I’m really not sure what we’ll do 😬😬😬

Anyhow positive thinking!!! 😍🧘‍♀️🌟🤞 Second down reg injection for me tonight.

Evening ladies, I'm on 2 threads to see which one fits more.
I'm in day 3 of DR injections and feeling ok.
How is everyone getting on?
@bunhead34, it's so hard to book time off as things can change throughout the cycle depending in your body. Last cycle AF arrived late and lining was then not thin enough to start stims, so what I thought would be good to book off wasnt.
EC definitely a day off, and even day after it you haven't been through it before as you wont know how you will feel. Transfer off and even day after depending on job or if you can book. OTD also I would say.
@bunhead34
940 sounds good, this epund mine were 2340 shockingly high

@41trying thank for the reply. That is an insane amount of money for meds 😮

I think I'll book the time off then just hopefully change it if I need to!

I just want to get started now!

I've been lucky in that my clinic starts scans at 730am so I've been able to 90% of them before work or even at one of their sister clinics if I've been working in London for the day. I usually take the day off for egg collection and back to work the next day as I'd rather save annual leave for the days post transfer

How do you deal with injections if you are at work? Or is it possible to just do them in the morning/evenings?

Sorry my nurse appointment is not until
The 11th - I have so many questions!

@bunhead34, I'm doing my injections for DR in the morning then when I stim I will do them in the evening.
They will explain everything when you go and what's best for you.

I've done them in the toilet cubicles at work - which is not ideal! I work in construction which means often not overly clean places to do them out of side of prying eyes! My male boss knows what I'm doing (he knows more than my family to be honest 🤣) and he usually finds me somewhere clean and discrete to do them. Other days I work from home. It's only really the cetrotide for me that could end up being in the middle of the day (and you have to mix those buggers up yourself so it's fiddly) but usually only do them for 2-3 days. My Bemfola is usually in the evening so I can do when I get home x

Wesstywoo · 20/02/2020 17:09

With my previous cycles I've taken the whole week off between EC and ET - partly to rest but also to avoid receiving embryo updates at work! Haven't got enough annual leave this time though so I'll literally just be taking EC off and perhaps ET

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip I think it is completely down to the CCG in your area as to how many cycles are given. I guess we are lucky where we are that they give 3 cycles. It also depends if you have paid privately as well as this can affect how many you get x

Hi,
I've had bloods and due to start treatment in the next few weeks. First round due to lack of ovulation, been TTC for a year and a half.
I suffer from anxiety and I'm finding the whole process really stressful, already been through so many different meds and laparoscopic surgery to check for endo and PCOS. Finding it all a strain on my mental health and relationship. Anyone else struggling?

Thanks for the info! I think I'll just book a few days off around egg collection and transfer and see how that goes.
I'm planning on telling my boss this week so hopefully she's good about it.

@Hoping1 I know what you mean, sometimes it feel like our bodies are playing tricks on us! That must be really
Hard working with children.

@West2401 I suffer with anxiety too, it's been through the roof recently. Do you take anything for it? Might be worth a trip to the docs? I've signed up for a talking therapy thing too, It's a self referral nhs thing, and starts with an online course with counsellor support. So maybe that will help 🤷🏼‍♀️

@West2401
Sending you lots of 💗💗💗💗
I think talking definitely helps. I talk to my husband a lot and writing it all down helps. I’ve just started my injections and I’ve booked a counselling session with my clinic as my husband said it’d be good to talk everything through. My first appt will be on the phone so what I’ve done is jotted notes on my phone each time I get upset/angry/worried/anxious about something.
Initially I didn’t think I’d need to use the counsellor but this is MASSIVE. We are all going through huge changes emotionally and physically.

My biggest advice is to live in the ‘now’ as our minds get sooooooo carried away. We can not control any of this but we can enjoy ‘now’ (sounds cliche and a bit airy fairy but overthinking definitely isn’t good!!)

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip @bunhead34 @Hoping1 thanks all.
I've suffered with disordered eating for years and when anxiety hits it's something that I really struggle with, obviously in this scenario it's even worse because I know I can't control my eating of it will affect the success of treatment...which makes me anxious...which takes me back to my food issues. It's a vicious cycle. I just feel pretty useless.
I've not gone down the meds route as both my siblings suffer with mental health problems and medication has really negatively impacted them.
Trying to stay calm and listen to podcasts, lots of walks and talking as much as I feel I can but sometimes get sick of the sound of my own voice!
Feel so sorry for my other half putting up with me Confused
