Ivf March/April?

Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hiya. I was wondering if you could give me a rough time frame for FET.? You said you'd be starting your second next month- I'll be starting then too, but it will be my first. I'm trying to figure out dates, so I can provisionally secure some holiday dates at work. Thanks x

@NRW39 so I’m on the long protocol so start Buserelin 7/3. Continue until 24/3 when have a scan to confirm lining thin etc ( usually this is done at 14 days but my clinic only does the scans Tues & Thurs apparently...). Anyhow if all good then start oestrogen tabs to thicken lining again and another scan at 9-10 days (2/4). And if lining thickness ok then start progesterone with transfer a week later. I should add that these dates all depend on response to treatment, may need to downreg longer etc.. Also your clinic may run the scans every day. I’m sure ours didn’t have the Tues and Thurs thing before which is quite inconvenient to be honest! X

@Lemongrass1 Thank you! -That's helpful I'll be on Buserelin too on long protocol. Start date will be here before we know it...! X

Can I please join you? Slightly different situation - am going for ICSI with donor egg - mostly due to my age - chance of it working with my own egg would be 1.5%, with a donor it is up in the 80%+ so we decided this was the best option for us - all due to happen at the end of April - starting to feel very real...

Hello lovelies

I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this board.
Just had a read through and I’m starting my down regs exactly the same time as some of you (6th March)

It’s our very first (nhs) cycle with Male factor fertility issues.
Trying to remain positive going into it but that feeling of nerves kick in every now and then.
I started acupuncture treatment today too which really helped to relax me- I suffer with anxiety so trying everything and anything to improve my mental well being.

How are you all feeling going into it?

Lots of baby dust and positivity to you all xxx

Meds arrived yesterday- I start next Friday. I'm gonna try and inject myself this time round- I've had 4 rounds so far and have never injected myself (my partner has and my lovely mum did a few for me aswell). We'll see how it goes. If not my partner will be on hand.

I'm not sure how I feel. I've had numerous cycles and unfortunately all excitement is lost going into this cycle. I'm kind of heading into it on auto pilot: it's like 'here we go again'. I'm hopeful though.

This is quite the rollercoaster of emotions and feelings, so I could be bouncing off the walls come next Friday...! I'll just go with with it!

Let's f*ing do this girls!! Xx

Ordering mine this week and then waiting for AF so we can begin!

I know how you feel @NRW39 - this is our final go and all the enthusiasm I had before is not there anymore but slowly starting to feel optimistic! 🤞

@NRW39 Yes agreed, let’s bloody smash this!

I start the same time as you do we’ll be enduring the 2ww at the same time ( maybe)

Good luck to you all ladies.

Random question- (for those already had previous IVF) but did you guys find it difficult managing social situations when undergoing IVF?
My friends are like detectives and I have a couple of birthday lunches coming up and I know they’ll try and put 2+2 together and assume I’m trying/ pregnant as not drinking. I’ve only told a one extremely close work friend as we didn’t want to broadcast it and have more stress/pressure from people knowing. Any suggestions or sneaky diversion tactics I’ll be thankful xxx

@Lizzybee80 yes it is difficult! I've had to tell a couple of fibs for nights out - one I said I was busy and couldn't make it - this was because the stim injections had to be done in the evening when we would have been out and then another time I was in the TWW when I was due to have a night that had been planned for ages so I said I was ill. I just couldn't have dealt with people speculating that I might be pregnant or telling people about the IVF and dealing with extra pressure Confused

@Lizzybee80
There are a few of us starting on that date/day after: so we've got some company!

I told all my close girlfriends, parents & siblings about starting IVF. I didn't want it to be a secret. I knew I'd need them.

I will say that telling the girls really helped-they proved an amazing support and it meant I had people to talk to other than my partner, and of course; when I couldn't make events because of treatment or couldn't face a night out they didn't pester me to change my mind etc. They just let me be.

I've thought of a reason to give for not boozing:
It's February, so you may be able to get away with saying something about extending 'Dry January...' ?!

Good luck!

@wesstywoo Yeah totally get that. I think it’ll have to be a case of avoidance and a few porky pies here and there to save the questioning. Can feel like a massively isolating process so it’s lovely to be able to chat to you all on here.

I know you said this is your final cycle so hugeeee good luck to you.x

For anyone been through it- how did the meds make you feel?
I ultimately feel ok with administering them myself (to a degree)but mainly concerned with the side effects.

@NRW39

Yey! It’s good to have some company going through this. You’ll have to keep me updated on your progress :)

Thank you! Yes that’s a great idea. I did actually do dry January so effectively could still use that. I have been keeping fit aswell recently so could also utilise that as a focus.

@Lizzybee80 which protocol will you be on? I've previously done short protocol which involved taking norethisterone to time the start of AF, menopur for stims and frymedal to hold off ovulation, then trigger shot and pessaries/injectable progesterone. The only thing that gave me side effects out of any of that was the norethisterone!

Good luck @Hoping1!

@Wesstywoo

My clinic didn’t actually discuss different protocols with me ( not that I can remember as sometimes it’s a HUGEEE information overload) but I assume I’m on the long protocol?
I start Norethisterine and buserelin on Friday ( day 21) then have my down regs scan on the 19/3 , start Gonal F on the 21st.
There’s so many different medications I didn’t even realise. How did the Norethisterone make you feel?
My partner is totally geared up for me being a hormonal b**ch 😂 I’m pretty bad as it is during my periods!

Xx

@Lizzybee80 yes sounds like long protocol as you are down regging - you don't down reg on short protocol. Norethisterone made me really grumpy (poor DH!) - also had some headaches! Only had to take it for 10 days though and was prepared second time round! Good luck!

@Hoping1 I haven't yet but getting cramps which generally means it's imminent. It's typical when you don't want it to start it does and when you do it takes forever. I'll keep you posted lol xx
