IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Hi again!

@granddesigns @Rumtopf Thanks!

What an emotional morning!

All started well, out of 10 fertilised eggs announced last Friday 2 had developed probably and the 8 others are still in the run just waiting 1 more day to see if more can be frozen.

But then they asked me, because they had to obvs, whether I wanted to continue despite Covid 19 or delay and sign the form. I went without my partner and I started crying coz I did not know what to do and it took him 15 mins to answer. They had put me in a different room by then. Anyway after talking to the doctor in length, my partner is also a doctor, and reading loads of guidelines, research papers and stuff, we finally decided to proceed.

The funny thing is they tell you to come with a full bladder so by the time I made my decision I was bursting! Anyway all painless, except for the full bladder, embryo is in, pregnancy test March 28, hoping for some Irish luck on this St Patrick's day!!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Pinktruffle · 17/03/2020 13:51

Good luck @kazzyfroggy! I think you made the right decision. I'm glad you were allowed the opportunity to decide and it wasn't taken out of your hands. Would you mind me asking what part of the country you are in?
I'm getting more and more nervous as test date approaches. Trying to guess whether I have any signs or not when in truth everything is probably masked by the Cyclogest. I had a really positive first week, this week is getting a bit iffy.

confused107 · 17/03/2020 14:06

Hi all, been catching up on the news. Exciting EC and ET news for everyone and it's a shame that this virus is only adding more stress to an already difficult situation

So today went better than we thought. We had one good enough to go back in! Such a roller coaster as yesterday I thought it might all be over. The embryologist could give no explanation for such a low fertilisation rate. Apparently it just happens. OTD 30th March. Here comes two weeks of symptom spotting, panicking, horrid pessaries and steroids! I'm just happy to still be in with a chance.

Hoping for lots of St Patrick's Day babies for us all xx

Pinktruffle · 17/03/2020 14:09

Best of luck @confused107. Any plans for the TWW? I'm off work so keeping busy is hard

confused107 · 17/03/2020 14:22

It's hard isn't it @Pinktruffle most of my plans have been cancelled. I am working, though probably from home, so hopefully chilling out and not going too stir crazy! I'm going to avoid exercise just in case. Anybody got any suggestions?

Twins2girls · 17/03/2020 15:19

My transfer went ahead as planned, have two little embryos inside now, just about to go for acupuncture and then relax! Best of luck to all, 2ww starts now, test date 30th 🤞

KazzyFroggy · 17/03/2020 15:21

@Pinktruffle Thanks! I'm home and not regretting to have gone ahead. I'm in London. When is your test date?

@confused107 glad to read u had some good news. I'm testing March 28, so very near your date! Good luck!!!

Pinktruffle · 17/03/2020 15:37

I was just curious to see where was still doing treatments as we have 3 frozen. My test date is this weekend, I'm bricking it!

PickleKid · 17/03/2020 16:31

Just saw NHS cancelling all non urgent surgeries for 3 months.

Glad for all those recent EC and ET that have been happening. Hope any final one make it. Once you've started stims they will have to get those eggs out!

@confused107 there isn't much too it. No sex, no baths, ease up on the coffee and eat well. Go on some walks if you can. Take naps when you need them. And finally resist the urge to pee on sticks for atleast 10 days! Pretend it's a relaxing detox holiday.

We moved and had lots of housework right after mine. Just don't get your blood pressure up or do lifting.

Good luck to you and the rest!

Twins2girls · 17/03/2020 16:48

Best of luck for the weekend @Pinktruffle

So glad we made it to ET without the Coronavirus affecting it!

Some great advice there @PickleKid

SpyroC · 17/03/2020 17:46

That's great @granddesigns . My pack says the average is 65% so fingers crossed you will get at least 2.

@PickleKid sorry for the uncertainty. Don't let it taint your great news. If they do cancel scans hopefully private pregnancy scanning places will stay open.

@Rumtopf the horny thing is weird isn't it? Horny but so uninterested in sex!

@confused107 great news!

So I am in for ec tomorrow. (Nhs at a private clinic). I'm slightly anxious given Borris gas just stopped non-urgent surgery however, the cancellations don't have to happen until 15/4 so I think we'll be ok @CarbsAndCheese )

However....my clinic phoned me to say ec as normal but that they have been told to encourage freeze all cycles. At the moment it sounds as though the choice is still ours, I can see this changing by Monday now. It seems a bit mean as they haven't told the fertile not to ttc in fact they predict a baby boom! If we do have a choice, I think we'll go for it.

Rumtopf · 17/03/2020 17:48

Glad all the ET's went well, good luck everyone.

I emailed my clinic (private) and they've just called me back re Covid 19. They'll take me through to EC but then freeze any embryos as ET is being put on hold for the foreseeable future. They'll cover any extra medication costs for the FET, whenever that happens. I am so bloody disappointed.

PickleKid · 17/03/2020 18:23

Ah @Rumtopf so sorry! It's a shame because the transfer is so so quick.

If it's any consolation, my clinic has better results with FET. Blastocycsts that need an extra day to grow (eg day 6 ones), in particular, are better on FET than putting them in a day late.

So you might have lost a few weeks of time but potentially gained a few odds.

Sending you all the hugs.

SpyroC · 17/03/2020 18:26

@Rumtopf I'm sorry to hear this. I'll probably be in the same boat. I think it's unfair to take the choice from us so far in to treatment. There's nothing stopping everyone else. 😔

luby89k · 17/03/2020 19:09

I'll also be in the same boat 😔 Will find out tomorrow when i go in for bloods. I'm devastated if it has. It's been a long 4 years to get to this first cycle.

Rumtopf · 17/03/2020 19:22

That's interesting re the improved stats for FET, I'll have to check my clinic. It's just so frustrating. I've said to my dh that next month we'll have to be at it like rabbits in case these hormones have triggered my body in some way.

I'm sorry for anyone else in the same boat, it sucks. Anyway, I have a scan first thing in the morning to see how these follies are coming along.

EmmaJ4142 · 17/03/2020 20:17

Hi ladies I hope you don’t mind me jumping on board. May I ask where you are all situated? I’m so confused as I’m trying to get my head around my FET being postponed due to everything I’m reading however my clinic is still saying it’s business as usual (Leeds-UK)
Thoughts are with everyone at this uncertain time 💕

CarbsAndCheese · 18/03/2020 07:36

Triplet (1 or 2!?) checking in from the waiting room for egg collection. Terrified but can't wait for it to be over and done with!

Good luck today @SpyroC!

luby89k · 18/03/2020 07:55

good luck @CarbsAndCheese thinking of you xx

granddesigns · 18/03/2020 07:56

Good luck @CarbsAndCheese and @SpyroC - thinking of you today! Hope it goes smoothly and you bounce quickly!

SpyroC · 18/03/2020 08:12

Thanks guys. Triplet 2 here in my gown and ready to go. Also scared but a tad excited.

Good luck @CarbsAndCheese x

luby89k · 18/03/2020 08:21

good luck @SpyroC 😘😘😘 you'll be great xx

Twins2girls · 18/03/2020 08:58

Good luck @CarbsAndCheese and @SpyroC hope all goes well x

confused107 · 18/03/2020 11:12

Good luck @spyroC

I have been prescribed steroids for a high killer cell count. Just had the clinic on the phone saying I need to stop them due to the fact that they are massively suppressing my immune system and the risk of corona virus. I don't know what to do as I feel that it's the only real change from last time

luby89k · 18/03/2020 11:23

@confused107 i'd go with what the clinic says. At least you have taken some so they might work?
