IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

I'm one week in to my TWW, hospital told me to test next Saturday.
I've been really positive up until about 15 minutes ago where had this overwhelming feeling come over me that it hadn't worked. Hubby is out so cant talk to him about it but feeling quite worried now.
My egg transfer was on Monday andI've been having twingy pains all week apart from today, but I have been feeling a bit under the weather today so done a lot of sleeping

SpyroC · 14/03/2020 21:00

@PickleKid I have never noticed the "penetration button" 😂. I'll defo have a look on Monday , it'll defo crack me up. The nurse will think I've lost it.

@CarbsAndCheese sorry you've had a stressful day. Yes we will be similar still (providing they don't change us again). I know how you feel. My clinic shut at 2 and they hadn't called, I had a mini melt down and at 3 when they eventually called I was mid writing a moany post on here as I thought they'd forgotten me 🙈. It was the big boss who changed me too. I think we have to take comfort in the fact that they are doing this to get us more chance of a positive outcome. It can only be a good thing. I'm not looking forward to waiting on the embryo update phone calls! Tbf it's probably worse today as we are off work so less distracted. It's all worth it xx

SpyroC · 14/03/2020 21:04

@Pinktruffle sorry your feeling negative. This is my First cycle so I'm yet to go through an ivf tww. The normal ones are bad enough so I can imagine it's really challenging emotionally. Stick something on TV to make you laugh and take your mind off it. The hormones are likely responsible, I think we are all sent slightly crazy because of them combined with the emotional strain of the whole process. We're all here to support each other through this x

SpyroC · 14/03/2020 21:06

You're even..my grammar is not normally this bad! It's not just MN some of my work emails at the moment...I read them back at a later time and cringe. I'm all over the shop on these meds!

Twins2girls · 14/03/2020 21:08

@CarbsAndCheese I know how you feel, constantly waiting to get to the next step, it will all work out, I promise, they just want to give you the best chance of success 😊

Pinktruffle · 14/03/2020 21:18

Thanks @SpyroC. I've had something to eat and had a chat with my sister. I'm feeling a it premier now!

Pinktruffle · 14/03/2020 21:18

Feeling a bit perkier not premier!

PickleKid · 14/03/2020 21:29

@pinktruffle that sounds like a good start! Twinges and tiredness are hopeful things.

@carbsandcheese I can't find one as green and bold as Homerton's button but here's some early penetration for you!

IVF in Feb/March 2020?
PickleKid · 14/03/2020 21:32

Whoops, the penetration button was for @spyroc Blush

luby89k · 14/03/2020 22:32

I'd take it it as a positive that the main guy is looking at your numbers and thinking he can get afew more eggs :) every cloud!

Can't wait to look out for a penetration button 🤣 Although when i went on Wednesday i commented on the weird location and layout of the room and the sonographer said it used to be the broom cupboard. So i doubt i'll get chance too look as it was tiny 🤣 x

Rumtopf · 14/03/2020 23:37

@picklekid woohoo! Congratulations! How are you feeling?

Sorry have been a bit quiet and just trying to catch up on everyone's news. Have started Menopur and Gonal F in the evenings now and wow they're stingy. I'm a bit confused by people talking about amps? I've got a 1200 unit of powder, 2 vials of liquid which I put into the vial of powder and then use 300 units each day for 4 days, then repeat for the next 4 days etc.

Will have to make notes and catch up properly!

PickleKid · 15/03/2020 00:04

Thanks @Rumtopf tired and still don't want to be touched at all. Also forgot how old I was. Like really blanked and had to use the calculator.

So tired, forgetful and grumpy AF, bit like normal me but worse.

SpyroC · 15/03/2020 08:51

Thanks for the pic @PickleKid . It has its own sticker and everything! 😂 . I am very forgetful at the moment too. I thought it was the drugs but must just be hormones in general. Baby brain is a well known thing, I guess ivf brain is a thing too.

I like the idea of us all penetration button spotting during scans this week. Adds a touch of light-heartedness to the otherwise tense appointment.

@Rumtopf I think you're lucky if you don't have the amps as mixing many amps increases the air bubbles. So don't worry at all-it's better. I'm not sure why they prescribe the 75 IU bottles and amps for those of us on high doses. Just to make it more difficult it seems. With regards to the stinging, the "menopur burn" is worse some days than others.

Did you trigger last night @granddesigns ?

Rumtopf · 15/03/2020 10:58

@spyroc ahhh! Thanks, that makes sense. I'm on 300 per day so my prescription was for the 1200 vials. I wonder why they just do 75 for the higher doses so you have all that extra mixing etc? Is your next scan on Monday?

@picklekid sorry you're feeling a bit cranky, hope you're making time to be kind to yourself this weekend.

That penetration button though! I shall definitely look out for that Grin

Hi @twins2girls good luck for Tuesday!

@Carbsand Cheese hope you're doing ok today. Hope by Wednesday the smaller ones will have caught up and you have lots of great quality eggs to retrieve.

@Pinktruffle the 2ww is a nightmare, I've not gone through an ivf version yet but a regular one is bad enough. Hope the overwhelming feeling has lightened for you. Good luck for Saturday!

@luby89k how're you doing with the Menopur? I've got my scan on Wednesday to see how everything's progressing, is yours around the same?

I've just caved and had a bag of mini eggs. Omg chocolate after not having since last Easter, they tasted so good.

Rumtopf · 15/03/2020 10:59

I've no idea how a grin turned into a bar of chocolate Grin

Twins2girls · 15/03/2020 11:17

Thanks @Rumtopf best of luck with your scan on Wednesday, hopefully all progressing well and you can book in the EC

luby89k · 15/03/2020 11:26

@Rumtopf yeh all good with Menopur. Still preferring it to the Buserelin. That one is stingy for me. I don't know about scans. They tell me every Monday Wed and Friday what my next step is. So hoping they tell me Monday that my scan will be Wednesday. I'm not scheduled for egg retrieval till 23rdish though so my scan could even be Friday. How many days into Menopur are you again?

Rumtopf · 15/03/2020 11:43

@luby89k today is my third day. I'm finding the Gonal F the worst at the moment. It's so cold and makes me shudder and then achy. I've got a scan booked for this Wednesday, Friday and a provisional one for the following Monday, depending on what they see on the previous two. But my nurse did think that it's possible the scan appt on Monday will be changed to EC or that may end up being the 25th. This is our first go so it's all a bit unknown.

luby89k · 15/03/2020 11:54

@Rumtopf yeh it's my first so it's all abit confusing. So today is my 5th day. I am not on Gonal F, what is that? or is that another kind of menopur? i find that drugs so confusing. The whole process is confusing cause even though i'm 2 days ahead of u we still have ec potentially on the same day haha xx

Pinktruffle · 15/03/2020 14:01

I found the Menopur injections to mostly be fine, a slight sting sometimes and completely painless other times.
I'm further along than most of you I think but the worst but for me has been the progesterone pessaries - they are so messy! I was told to get panty liners but as they dont have wings, they just moved and the pessaries have been destroying my underwear. I've moved to using sanitary towels now and will hopefully be able to protect some of my pants

PickleKid · 15/03/2020 15:44

@Pinktruffle if you only put them rectally they aren't very messy at all. I haven't ruined any knickers yet.

That being said they do seem to give me the flaming poops.

So there is no silver bullet- only white ones- begrudgingly, taken up the bum.

Can't wait for some normalcy! Confused

Rumtopf · 15/03/2020 15:52

@luby89k weird isn't it. I'm cd5, stimming day3. Gonal F is FSH whereas Menopur is a mix of FSH and LH. I'm nearly 41 and my AMH was 3.2 so rather low, can't remember my FSH level but low enough to need the extra meds. It means ultimately I'll be testing just before my Birthday if all goes well. Eek.

@pinktruffle are they the cyclogest pessaries? I've got those to use too and went for PV instead of PR as the nurse initially suggested! Thanks for the heads up about the mess, I'll make sure to stock up on san pro. I've got Lubion injections to do as well as Clexane injections post transfer, as well as Aspirin. Whatever works I guess!

Rumtopf · 15/03/2020 15:54

@picklekid you just made me snort. I have IBS, there's no way on God's green earth it's going up my bum. Some days I'd be lucky if it stayed there for 5 minutes! ;D

Pinktruffle · 15/03/2020 16:07

@picklekid the hospital have told me to do them vaginally specifically and I dont really want to go against what they've told me, but I have heard it's easier rectally. I do find them irritating to the skin both front and back so I imagine I would have some bowel sensitivity to them

@rumtopf yeah it's the Cyclogest pessarie, twice a day everyday. I was told to do them morning and night but they didnt really give me a time distance to keep between them. I'm off work at the minute so waking up a little late at 9.30am and doing one then and one at 11.30pm

PickleKid · 15/03/2020 16:42

I feel for you at @Rumtopf

The morning after the first stim, it started, so it's been a month now. Everything has gone relatively easily but my goodness does pooping like this exhaust you!

I had to sign a waiver that after EC and while still out, they would put antibiotics and a painkiller up there. It didn't last long (oops) but the nurse did say it was long enough.
