Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lottie,
Your port has given me hope. I’m also with Dr Shuba, after TTC almost 3 years (PCOS and blocked tube)
Back in December she sent me and my partner for all the tests: scans, HSG..... to confirm what I already knew unfortunately.

We have our follow up appointment next month to discuss results and hopefully that’s where we will discuss ivf or other options? Do you remember What the waiting time was like from your follow up appointment? What happens after?

Thanks
P

Hi Jessica05,
I had my lap at Shirley Oaks private hospital, I think because of Covid. I had to be there at 7.15am, had the surgery about 11 and was out by 5. Yes it is done under general anaesthetic which I found a bit daunting as never had a general before. It was fine though, the worst bit was the pain in my shoulders which is from the gas they have to use to see clearer inside you. The walk to the car and then from the car into our flat was very painful but I then dosed up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and is got much better. It took me about 3 days to fully recover.

Thanks so much for giving me some info on the appointment, it makes me feel better when I know what to expect.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi PA93,

Our follow up appointment was late September where dr Shuba said she wanted me to have a laparoscopy. I then got a letter a few weeks later to book me in for early Dec. IVF Funding appointment was then a month later (8th Jan). So far not talked in detail about IVF but will do at our next appointment in a week.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi Lottie

Thanks so much for getting back to me. It’s good to hear that it’s not too much of a wait from having your final investigations to the ivf funding appointment. I hope it all goes well. good luck!!

Hi all. I have an appointment at Croydon hospital fertility clinic. This will be my first after being referred by the doctor. How long is the appointment and do I have to go with dh or can he get reffered for tests without attending. Just worried about covid really as he's a front line worker at a different hospital and Croydon has had a high number of covid cases. How long from initial appointment to next steps and what should I expect please? Thanks all.

Hi @Tals812
I had my first appointment in November. I then had cycle monitoring and all my tests done in December. And my follow up is end of February.

The urial hospital appointment with Dr Shuba was a video call. Though we didn’t know this until a couple days before when they sent us a link. So far I have only had to go in when having a scan or test.
I have my final follow up appointment in a couple of weeks and that’s a video call as well.

Hi Everyone, did anyone had a hysteroscopy? How was it, did they treated the polyps straight away?
Thanks

@PA93, thank you. Sounds great that they do video calls. I hope they do so for our appointment as it will save a lot of stress. Have been trying for three years too and not sure they'll offer much since having recently turned 43. Fingers crossed.
Good luck with your next stage.

Hi Jessica05

I have a hysteroscopy, yes they remove the polyp straight away. Its quite simple, no pain after, had minor bleeding for about 2 weeks after until my next period. Next period was heavier then normal but all back to normal 3 months on.

Best wishes

Kelly

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well..

Has anyone started the Ivf treatment yet? Did you filled in all the paperwork required?

Hi @jessica05
How are you? Have you had your op yet? I had mine recently and it went really well, the incisions they make are tiny! And I've healed really quickly. The staff at CUH were all really great pre and post op. Polyp and cyst removed so very pleased they offered the surgery.
Treatment not started for us yet because waiting to fully heal internally first. hopefully in a month or so. Have you started yours yet or got a planned date?

Hi Ashdo, I’m good thank you. I didn’t have a laparoscopy. I had a hysteroscopy instead.. the consultant went in and found nothing, no polyps. My follow up appointment is next week. Hopefully treatment will start soon.

Hi Tas18,
Sorry for my late reply. The fertility clinic is not at the main entrance at all. Its behind the maternity ward going toward the back exit.

How was your appointment?

Hi @Jessica05, I found it in the end after asking 3 different people. Got thrown off by the back entrance as I've always used the front entrance, so my bearing were quite off. Appointment went OK thanks, no polyps or fibroid found but ovaries apparently small. Bloods done, so will wait and see🤞.
Diet wise, I've been on homemade thick soup for dinner with crackers. Weetabix with milk, beries and 0% yoghurt. Nuts to snack on. Had been really good but fell off this past week. Possibly because of stressing about my appointment as hadn't heard anything for a while.
Only taking folic, vitamin D and waiting for iron level blood results.
BTW, how was your follow up appointment?

Many thanks

Has anyone been through or due to have FET after IVF treatment ? I didn't go ahead before COVID because there was some complications I had to wait 1-2 cycles, then with covid everything shut down. I haven’t been in touch since, now I am quite apprehensive to restart treatment again not sure if the clinic is fully opened yet.

Hi Maria

The clinic is fully open, i have been attending since July last year and things have moved quickly. The only thing they told me is different is egg collection is now all at the LWC (as opposed to egg collection at CUH and then transferring to LWC), which I see as a massive positive- much less rushing about and myself and OH in the same place!

Good luck

Hi all

I have been referred to Dr Shuba. I have PCOS and a blocked tube. We also have male factor.
I am due for an appointment next week, I think you sign consent form for a laparoscopy to remove the blockage, hopefully.

I’m glad things are progressing, but very anxious as I need to get my bmi under 30 to be approved.

Does anyone recall at what appointment they were weighed?
