Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@Sar1990
Are you doing the treatment private?
the clinic can provide you some needles, but they are quite big.

JeanieJ · 03/12/2022 18:16

Hi,
How's everyone doing?

Congrats to all the BFPs 🙂🙂. It's brings me hope.

I have my IVF chat on Thursday & hope to start in Jan/Feb.

Are the scans etc still at Croydon, but the EC & transfer is at LWC?

Xx

Hi,
I moved to Croydon from Camden last year and also meant I had to transfer my fertility treatment from NWCCG to SWCCG. We had just completed 4 rounds of IUI, which I never thought we’d get anywhere with in the first place. I was initially upset as we lost our three rounds of funded IVF cycles with NW and now only get 1 round at Croydon.

I transferred and was confirmed on the IVF waiting list for SW CCG in July 2021. We were told it’d be about 6-7 months waiting period. So we waited until Feb 2022. I chased the clinic up on my position and within a week I received confirmation the process would start in March. So we began the paperwork, blood work and scans to get my body prepped for egg collection. My situation was that there was nothing clearly wrong with my partners numbers or mine. Asides from suffering from Lupus, we’d been trying for 6 years and nothing was happening.

The nurses were all extremely warm and lovely. In comparison to UCL Euston, I was surprised at the care and communication provided by Anna and the team. I’ve seen a few comments about
Dr Shuba which may ring true but considering she’s the only Fertility doctor for us, I think she does a fantastic job. Also we are very lucky to have her expertise at Croydon, she’s well respected in the industry. The initial meetings were short and quick and I felt we received just enough information to take away and research further on what was discussed. Immediately i felt the specialism and care I received at Croydon has been significantly better than the world class UCL Euston.

we progressed to Egg collection in May with explanations of each stage of the process provided. I couldn’t believe our luck when I found out the egg collection and transfer services had been exported to LWC Harley Street.
i caught a mild case of OHSS and so it was decided a Frozen transfer would be the best option in 2 months.
They collected 24 eggs, 13 fertilised, 8 made it to day 3, 5 made it to blastocyst stage. 3 were fair (3BBs, 1 good 4BA and 1 poor 4BC). They booked a transfer of the 4BA in Aug 2022.
Transfer was pretty straight forward and I went straight back to work after. Ofcourse the TWW was agonising… but we received a positive.

I am now currently 21 weeks pregnant due April 2023, with IVF I guess we’ll wait to confirm success once full term. I just want to emphasise how great the nurses and Dr. Shuba are in that small fertility Cabin. Received a lot of empathy along the way and grateful for the work they do with the funding cuts and challenges we face.

I wish you all the best- just want to share one of many positive experiences at Croydon fertility.

Sar1990 · 11/12/2022 08:44

Morning all, just had a negative result from our first FET. Absolutely devastated. Does anyone know when we can go again as we still have more embryos in the freezer? I want to go again next month but not sure if Croydon allow this? Many thanks

jigglypuff7722 · 11/12/2022 18:26

Ahh so sorry to hear this. It's absolutely devastating. I always has to wait a full month between treatments so a bleed now, then a month, then I can go again after my period after that xxxx

Sar1990 · 11/12/2022 22:15

Thanks for coming back so quickly. Just read some old messages and congratulations on your amazing news. We will try and go for 2 embryos to be put back next time. Horrendous day but you have given me hope.

JeanieJ · 06/01/2023 16:57

Hi all,

I'm due to start my first ICSI cycle end of Feb.
I caught Covid in mid Dec & still have the fatigue & brain fog nearly 3 weeks later.

Does anyone know if the clinic has a policy on Covid & an IVF cycle? I've read conflicting articles online about its impact on embryo quality & I'm worried. We have high DNA frag, so I'm scared we won't even get embryos in the first place. This feels like another spanner in the works.
I'm afraid to call the clinic because each nurse says something different to me each time.

Jessica05 · 06/01/2023 22:36

@JeanieJ call the fertility clinic and speak to nurse Anna or nana they are the best two people to talk to

juliettefreire · 31/01/2023 12:29

Hi everyone. I hope you are well.
Could someone let me know at which stage do you get your funding approved and how long does it take?

we are having appointments with Dr Shuba but haven't discussed the funding yet so I am really confused about the process.... I'm going to ask her for clarity at my next appointment but it's not for a while so if anyone knows I would really appreciate hearing your experience

jigglypuff7722 · 31/01/2023 15:31

Hiya! Our funding didn't take long at all, applied in March and started in June x best of luck !!

JeanieJ · 01/02/2023 11:29

Hiya
Does anyone know what number to expect the call from the IVF drugs company to be?
I've been told to wait on the call, but not sure what number to look out for.

Thanks

PJ77 · 01/02/2023 14:40

Hey, I don't know exact number, but the company is called Stork. Looking online they have an 0800 number. That being said I can't remember ever being called by them before but received an email with access to a portal where you can book a specific delivery date xx

JeanieJ · 01/02/2023 15:47

Thank you!
I just don't want to ignore it because I get so many spam calls 🙈
Do you remember how long before your cycle started you got them delivered?
It was all a bit of rush when I was in there the other day and I left feeling a bit unclear.
They did book in my drugs teach appointment though.

Sar1990 · 01/02/2023 15:52

I got a text message with a link to book a delivery both times. Never had a call from them so you should receive a text. Usually a couple of days after your apt but if the meds are urgent the next day or same day.

PJ77 · 01/02/2023 16:16

@JeanieJ I think I received them at least a couple of weeks before the cycle started. From memory though I think they emailed and text me pretty soon after having the appointment like Sar1990 has said as well x

JeanieJ · 01/02/2023 21:16

Thank you.
My drugs teach is next Thursday which is about 10 days before AF starts, so if I don't hear anything before then, I'll just ask when I'm in there.

Also another q!
Is there just the one drugs teach?

I remember nurse Anna saying a while ago, that you get one, but then each time you do a scan, they'll show you again 🤷🏻
DH will be doing the injections for me & has can come to the first one, but we're not sure how he can come to the others (he's got an inflexible job)

jigglypuff7722 · 02/02/2023 07:05

Hey they only show you how to inject the drugs once , except when you move onto the second set of injections (fyremadel or cetrotide) but they honestly are so super easy. Worst case there's so many YouTube videos you can watch too as you tend to forget everything as soon as you leave the clinic I find xx

PJ77 · 02/02/2023 07:54

I echo the points above! And yep there are plenty of YouTube videos as well to refresh your memory that's a good point. In the clinic when they teach you you should be able to have a go on the injection pad as well which is helpful x

JeanieJ · 02/02/2023 08:00

Thank you 🙂

Caro4 · 06/02/2023 15:20

Hello ladies! I'm new here, on our way to start IVF maybe next month. We have our IVF long chat next week, so I'm trying to prepare with questions.

Do you have any questions you would've liked to ask in that first explanatory chat?
Too bad it's not with Dr Shuba as I need to let her know somehow that I've suffered from OHSS after having IUI in 2021 (good amount of eggs due to PCOS discovered afterwards, in another country - here, at Croydon, they've put the easy 'unexplained' diagnosis).

Fingers crossed for everyone of you starting on this journey! 💪

Ps. Lovely story, dear @Trez87! These happy stories are giving me hope. ❤

JeanieJ · 07/02/2023 11:16

@Caro4 your chat will likely be with one of the nurses and it just involves some more forms & a bit of a chat about how the process works.

I found this website helpful theduff.co.uk you can download a guide that gives you questions to ask at every stage of the treatment.

If I'm honest, I get really overwhelmed when I'm in there & forget to ask questions & I also forget what they say to me, so it's good to write things down when you're in there or have your partner there to remember things.

I've been with the clinic for nearly 2 years and still haven't met Dr Shuba - it's always been with Dr G or one of the nurses. I'm assuming I'll meet her when my cycle starts 🤷🏻

jigglypuff7722 · 07/02/2023 14:21

This is true it does often feel very rushed in there and by the time you get out you wish you'd asked more!

Everyone is really nice but it does feel super overwhelmxing

JeanieJ · 21/03/2023 09:48

Hi everyone,

Some good news. We've had a positive test from our first fresh transfer 🤞🏻
It's very early days and I have had a loss before, so staying very cautious, but hopeful 🤞🏻🙏🏻💕 xx

jigglypuff7722 · 21/03/2023 12:50

Brilliant news!!! So happy for you!! X

JeanieJ · 21/03/2023 13:20

Thank you @jigglypuff7722
Does anyone know if we're supposed to follow the instructions on the form given by LWC? Mine says call LWC for a blood test, but I'm pretty sure it's not applicable to me because I'm a Croydon patient. What do we do? x
