Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@Kelly986 congratulations and thanks for updating us!! 💕💕💕
@Tillybabs im up & down since the loss, but I think my body has recovered ... I was in quite a bit of pain & was weak for about 10 days after the MC, but I definitely ovulated 2 weeks after the mc & I just got my period today, so I feel like that's good and my body's trying to get back to normal. I think we'll wait till Sept to do our first round of IVF so that I know for sure that my cycles are back & my lining has grown back. How are you doing?

@juliettefreire - welcome 🙂I had my first appointment last April, had tests throughout May, follow up in July - was immediately recommended the options of IVF or laprascopy because my tube came up blocked on the HSG test... I opted for laprascopy and was put on a waiting list ... I ultimately went private in December, tubes were clear, got referred for IVF anyway as I have mild endo which they removed in the surgery, booking appointment for IVF in Jan, funding appointment in Feb and was due to start in March, but I conceived ... unfortunately miscarried at 11 weeks, so I'm here again.

Who knows if the laprascopy helped me conceive, but I'm gonna live with that hope for the summer.

Xxx

Does anyone know if the clinic has a urologist?
DH just got diagnosed with varicocele and our GP said she can't do anything unless he's in pain.
It can be connected to unexplained infertility & miscarriage.

Xx

juliettefreire · 24/05/2022 17:18

Thanks @JeanieJ
Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you are doing well and your cycles get regulated ok so you can restart your journey as planned later in the year

From other experiences, I guess I will judge tests start around 2 months after finding is approved and treatments after that... hope I will get further clarity after my initial video appointment in August and hope I can manage my appointments well outside of work.... although I will know it will be hard

Tillybabs · 24/05/2022 20:03

@juliettefreire no problem and thanks 😊

@JeanieJ I will respond on the other thread as it's easier

Sar1990 · 21/06/2022 12:09

Hi everyone, I had my eligibility apt for ivf a few weeks ago but had to wait for up to date blood tests. Had them last week and now meet the criteria. I am just worried they will get lost in the system. Did you get any correspondence saying your funding had been approved? Also how long did it take to get approval? They have then said from then it’s 12 weeks. Any timeframes etc will be really helpful as I’m worried I’ll get forgotten about.

many thanks

JeanieJ · 21/06/2022 13:04

Hey @Sar1990
I had my eligibility appt in early Jan, then got a phone call mid Feb for my IVF chat. Basically, that's them saying you've got the funding. I had my IVF chat pretty much that week because they had just had a cancellation & I was available.
Once that's done, you can start when you want.
I haven't started yet because I ended up getting pregnant naturally, miscarrying & now found out we have MFI, so trying to figure things out before we try IVF.
Just booked a review appt today and it's in 6 weeks, so I guess it's not the worst?
I found the investigative appointments had the longest waits as opposed to the IVF ones, but things could always change 🤷🏻
xx

Sar1990 · 21/06/2022 16:51

@JeanieJ thanks so much for this it’s so helpful. Do they send you anything to say you have the funding or just the call? I feel like I’ve waited so long I don’t want to be missed as when I went in for the ivf eligibility apt my blood tests had ran out so had to wait a few weeks for new ones. Sorry to hear you had a miscarriage, but great news a review apt is only 6 weeks away.

JeanieJ · 21/06/2022 18:34

@Sar1990 - nope no letter.
I just had this IVF chat appointment & then took alot of paperwork home to sign & bring in once I wanted to start the cycle.

Then basically, you wait for your period to call them & they do your pre IVF bloods & a scan, then the next period is go-time.

It sounds almost too simple & straightforward, but that's it. I have called up a few times to confirm this & it's still the same process.

Hope you get the call soon 🙂
xx

Hi All, long time ladies, anyone had egg collection or transfer yet?

Redcobra · 25/07/2022 08:53

Hi all, I've done the paperwork, period scan & had the meds delivered. I've got an appt next week to show me how to do injections and then I start. Egg collection is in Harley St & I wanted to ask if anyone has a link for transport? I'm looking for an appropriate chauffeur to take me home afterwards. I reckon I'll be in some pain & woozy so I'd rather my hubby sit with me in case I'm sick.

Anyone had an egg collection before? How long did you feel ill for?

PJ77 · 07/08/2022 20:05

Hi @Redcobra , how is your cycle going? Have you had your egg collection yet?
After my EC we got a taxi to the train station then just got the train home. I think it varies for everyone but for my two ECs at Harley St I felt okay afterwards xx

Redcobra · 07/08/2022 21:14

Hi @PJ77

Thanks for replying. It's good to hear your experiences. I'm sure I'll be able to manage the travel home.

I've only just started my first cycle so EC should be in the next few weeks. Exciting times! I just hope I get enough good quality eggs.

Tillybabs · 07/08/2022 21:29

@Redcobra my OH drove us there and back and tbh I was in pain after I had my EC. But other women weren't so it really just depends.

I definitely could not have got on transport but some women have felt fine. If hubby isn't driving, maybe just order an Uber after if you need to?

Redcobra · 07/08/2022 22:27

@Tillybabs
We planned on getting an Uber originally so OH can sit with me in the back in case I'm nauseous. I'm not sure if taking the train will be best for me. It depends on how much pain I'm in on the day.

Redcobra · 19/08/2022 16:26

Hi all, I started injections this week and went in for my Day 6 scan (I’ve done 4 days of injections). However there were only 4 eggs visible so I had to do a blood test to check hormone levels. Is this normal? Will the number of eggs increase as I get towards days 10-14? I was hoping to get as many eggs as possible this round but now I’m starting to feel a bit down.

NDJ · 20/08/2022 19:37

Hi I have been under the fertility clinic for over a year now under Dr Shubha.
She thinks I may have endometriosis, however the waiting time for the laparoscopy is 6 months. They cannot do anything until this has been diagnosed. Has anyone had such a long waiting time?

Jessica05 · 20/08/2022 22:27

@NDJ Hi laparoscopy can take a long time all depend on the nhs waiting list.
you can go private with DR gajewar, who also is specialist in ivf in the fertility clinic at Croydon

NDJ · 21/08/2022 08:04

Thank you. If I did just the laparoscopy private with Croydon would they take me back under NHS?

Jessica05 · 21/08/2022 23:18

@NDJ yes they would. I would advise you to talk to the fertility nurse.

NDJ · 22/08/2022 07:43

Thank you 😌

juliettefreire · 01/09/2022 13:29

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well.

I had my video chat with the fertility doctor last week and we need to go for update blood tests. He said we can just go in but I'm confused as to what to say to the clinic and where my results will go? Anyone can help?

I also got letters in the post for gynaecologist apps and got no idea what they are for but anyways. My partner needs to have an appointment himself but no letter has come; does anyone know which number I can call to ask about it? I should've asked but didn't think of it at the time...

Sar1990 · 02/09/2022 12:17

Hi,

they will note down the need for a blood test on your records so you can turn up at the Walk in at CUH or Purley (That is what I did) I am not sure on your other questions as not applicable to me. Many thanks

juliettefreire · 04/09/2022 21:06

Thank you so much for the reply :)

Sany · 23/09/2022 11:27
