Lil221 · 16/08/2019 15:32

everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.
Lil x

Congrats Onisa, PUPO! You taking it easy today?

Lilly my EC was on day 14, glad things are ticking along

Oof pessaries sound fun @Lil221, 7 embryos in the running is great. Enjoy your new house, don't lift too many boxes!

Onisa7 · 30/08/2019 15:15

@Parkandride currently laying on the sofa and asking bf to get me everything I want GrinGrin. It's great to have the weekend straight away as well.

facevalue · 30/08/2019 23:01

hello,

what is everyone up to tonight?

i sent hubby to bed and i'm on the sofa watching a movie

Parkandride · 31/08/2019 08:42

Just taking it very easy here @facevalue, tried a dog walk yesterday and felt a lot of stabbing pain. Annoying as I felt fine post egg collection and now 2 days later it's getting painful.

When is your test day?

LillyLeaf · 31/08/2019 09:25

I'm planning a chilled weekend as I'm feeling and looking a bit bloated (I actually look pregnant which is bloody cruel). I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about the results from this round, what if we end up with all abnormal again or even nothing to test, trying to push those thoughts away.

@Onisa7 how are you feeling today? Did your clinic advise to rest or just continue normally?

Onisa7 · 31/08/2019 14:33

@LillyLeaf normal life they said. I had a chilled out day yesterday (ie sofa all day) but today we just been out for a walk in the park. You can't do anything very very strenuous but other than that is back to normal.
I'm feeling fine..no pains, no spotting, no nothing... Well except for the continuous thoughts about if it was successful or not and the anxiety of going back to work Monday...but other than that been ok.

drminion · 31/08/2019 18:47

Hi!
I'm finishing downreg tomorrow. Been feeling fine except more grumpy than usual. Mainly worried about bloating/weight gain with hormonal treatment and concerned that the whole thing will lead to nothing.
I'm 41 and always wanted to be a mother but I have second thoughts and fear about becoming one now!

LillyLeaf · 31/08/2019 19:09

@drminion that's great, are you waiting for AF now before starting stims? I understand why you would feel like that, it's so much to go through to have a baby that second thoughts are only natural. I'm sure it's just nerves.

facevalue · 31/08/2019 19:19

hi everyone. we had a lovely day. very chilled.

@drminion sorry i didn't follow your story. why would you have ivf if u r not sure u want a baby? or is it the success rate at 41 u r unsure about!

what i'll say now is VERY DEPRESSING, out of 10 of us it's only one or two max that will have a positive result according to the statistics 10-20%. we already one +ve so far. i'm not if we have ladies in their twenties then maybe slightly higher chance then.

i'm 40! 😑 keeping fingers crossed and holding my breath but can only hope.

drminion · 31/08/2019 19:32

Hi @LillyLeaf :)
AF should come soon and with it the scans and the injections...true that I'm feeling pretty nervous and scared about the whole process. I guess it's not the way I dreamt of becoming pregnant but I should also be thankful for the opportunity. Sometimes I've got to remind myself that it will all be worth it!
Trying to reduce stress levels as much as I can (I go to the gym and I try to meditate) but the waiting around and the lack of control over my life it's not easy to handle. I'm generally very social and I travel a lot, but I don't feel like like partying (I'm also trying to avoid alcohol!) and I can't plan a trip, which makes me slightly depressed and even more in my head.
Any suggestions for activities/books/whatever to keep me levelled?

LillyLeaf · 31/08/2019 19:55

@drminion I know what you mean, today I was feeling sorry for myself that I have to go through all this when others have it so easy. Not being able to travel when we want to has really been annoying also not being able to visit Zika countries. This infertility crap has such a huge impact on many parts of our lifes. I have a nice creative hobby, making something with your hands is a good distraction, something to focus on.

@facevalue to be honest I'm sick of looking at stats, I'm always on the wrong side of them so for me I don't bother anymore, it won't make any difference to the outcome.

Lil221 · 31/08/2019 22:59

Hi everyone, hope your all ok. So my transfer was today and I had 5 that were graded 5AA. not sure what that means but they seemed happy with the results 😂 so transfer went ok and went in this morning. Apparently it was about to break out of the sack! I've got stabbing feelings in my lower tummy tonight. Not getting my Hope's up though xx

@Lil221 that's great, when is you OTD?

facevalue · 31/08/2019 23:40

@Lil221 i'm struggling with the side effects of these pessaries :-( not sure how long I can cope with them 😢

the headache, tender boobs, muscle pain etc aaarreggggg i could cry

Ginandtonic31 · 31/08/2019 23:52

Sorry to jump on your thread but was reading @Parkandride updates. I've just had PGD at Guys so I'm always really interested and supportive of those doing the same. Hope it goes well for you xx

Parkandride · 01/09/2019 06:56

@Ginandtonic31 That's so kind thank you, where abouts are you in the process? It's incredible science isn't it. We were originally due to go to Guys but my clinic 20 minutes away got a license (not without its difficulties and long waits!) so we went with them which has been very convenient

Parkandride · 01/09/2019 07:01

@drminion welcome! I totally get your feelings, its a lot to process isn't it - all this hard stuff before the (hopeful) successful result and the real hard work starts. Just take it a step at a time. I don't know much about long protocols, how long does down regging go on for?

Congratulations @Lil221 sending lucky vibes! Take it easy

Onisa7 · 01/09/2019 09:00

@Lil221 that's brilliant. Now the wait begin again isn't it. But you got really good results so far so stay positive. We're get the day 5 call to see if any survive...so nervous but my gut tells no so...will see.

@drminion I think that's absolutely normal to have doubts and fear the unknown. The all process unfolds as it progresses and it is indeed very emotionally hard. I'm sure all the ladies in here will be more than happy to answer any questions if that would ease your worries. And if you decide that you're not gonna go ahead that's ok too. Please be kind to yourself.

I'm starting to get the side effects of the pessaries as well...been really dizzy and for a few seconds it feels like I'm gonna faint.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Lil221 · 01/09/2019 09:06

@Parkandride the pessaries are a nightmare arnt they. My boobs are torture and I look 4 months pregnant lol.

@onisa7 thank you! I'm just staying busy and not thinking about it too much.

When did you guys test? My trigger was the 24th and collection 26th then transfer 31st x

OP posts:
Onisa7 · 01/09/2019 09:13

My trigger was 25th, retrieval 27th and transfer 30th so I test on the 12th. Couldn't come.soon enough!

Ginandtonic31 · 01/09/2019 09:22

@Parkandride I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant! Ah are you at Leeds? I knew they were getting a license but didn't know if they had yet. We were through Sheffield so only went to Guys a few times. It definite is amazing.

drminion · 01/09/2019 11:39

Thank you everyone for your support. It feels reassuring to know that these feelings are normal and shared by so many others. @Parkandride downreg is abou 10 days then AF comes and the stabbing begins! Congrats @Lil221 and @onisa7! try not to think too much but enjoy the thought of possibly being pregnant :)
Enjoy the sunshine ladies! I'm off to the gym and to buy plants to push away any negative thoughts.

Lil221 · 01/09/2019 21:55
