Lil221 · 16/08/2019 15:32

everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.
Lil x

Congrats on starting @LillyLeaf, what was the outcome of your last round? Always interested to see what the tweak for the next one.

Just had 2nd scan and all looks good and growing well, lining was 10mm which is good apparently. Back again tomorrow with EC probably weds or Thurs

LillyLeaf · 25/08/2019 12:33

@Parkandride well my first cycle looked good to begin with, I only got 8 eggs but 6 fertilised and I got 5 blasts (2 MCs and 3 pgs tested abnormal). My clinic were actually very pleased in regard to eggs, blasts etc but this time I've asked if there is anyway of getting more eggs as we will be pgs testing them again so I need as many as possible just to try to get 1 normal embryo. So they've upped my stims dose from the beginning, last time it was upped after scans. It will be interesting to see how this one goes. How are you feeling today and so exciting EC will be next week.

facevalue · 25/08/2019 21:43

can i ask you ladies something please.

the embryologist asked me " oh by the way do you have any preferences whether day 3 or day 5 transfer if it fertilises tomorrow ?"

any one know or can share fro personal experience etc? i'm confused because i thought they would tell me not the other way around!

LillyLeaf · 25/08/2019 23:36

@facevalue that sounds a bit strange, surely it's their job to decide on the progress of the embryos? Mine told me to prepare for a day 3 transfer (just in case) but they would call on the morning after checking on the embryos, they called and said they look good so they'll keep them going until day 5.

facevalue · 26/08/2019 07:04

@LillyLeaf That's what I thought! they should tell me! i didn't think it's about a personal preference 😥

so you think if they didn't look too good they put them back day3?

LillyLeaf · 26/08/2019 07:36

@facevalue I think it depends on how many embryos you have also. If 1 then it's best to put it back. If you have more they'll want to pick the best one to transfer, if they look like they'll keep going until day 5 there's a better chance they'll pick the best one. I would ask for the embryologist to call you and explain.

facevalue · 26/08/2019 10:16

@LillyLeaf that's so helpful thank you so much for explaining this .

i think i'll go for day 3 ( if they survive) then

i only have the two😭

Lil221 · 26/08/2019 16:14

Hi everyone, well my egg collection went well this morning. Got to admit I am very sore now!!! They managed to get 14 eggs which is supposedly a good number so let's wait and see what they update me with tomorrow.
Hows everyone else getting on? X

@Lil221 that's fantastic news, great number. Fingers crossed for lots to be fertilised. Rest up.

I've only done 2 stims injections so far so I've got a way to go.

facevalue · 26/08/2019 18:23

@Lil221 fabulous news.. well done you.. fingers crossed all look strong and followed by a bfp

hang in there

they told i can take paracetamol ..

i've been ok so far x

Lil221 · 26/08/2019 18:45

Thanks guys! I've got my trusty paracetamol but I feel like I've been hit by a bus 😫 it will all be worth it in the end though x

Onisa7 · 26/08/2019 21:13

@Lil221 that's a great number. Well done and I'm sure you won't even remember being poorly soon. fingers crossed for loads of fertilized ones

@LillyLeaf keep it up. It will be finished before you know it. How are you feeling with symptoms?

My retrieval is tomorrow, and we've been away most of the weekend, just trying to get my self distracted but we're home now and reality has caught up with me. Any good tips for tomorrow ladies? Like, grandma knickers Grin Grin Grin?

Stephy6781 · 26/08/2019 21:43

Hi all, I’m having my baseline scan tomorrow then starting stims for short protocol straight after. I have high fsh and low amh (I’m 38). My partner also has low motility so we’re having icsi. We have had 2 miscarriages from natural pregnancies.
We’ve only been given a low chance of this working but I guess we will never know if we don’t try. I’m literally keeping everything crossed for the next few weeks 🤞🏼🤞🏼 It’s great to find this group and find others currently on this journey too, good luck to all of you xxx

Parkandride · 26/08/2019 22:19

Welcome Stephy!

Good luck for tomorrow Onissa, hopefully you're in and out quickly.

Well done on 14 eggs Lil! Hope you're feeling better soon, keep us updated.

That's annoying Facevalue, you have enough to worry about without doing an embryologists job for them!

Had another scan today, the bank holiday has been good as they've not interfeared with work much. I'm triggering tomorrow, egg collection Thursday. Just need them to call with a time tomorrow, annoyingly DH is out for a chunk of the evening so I might have to do it. I've only done 1 so far.

Part of me is fretting a cluster of follicles looked too big and the other cluster too small. But I'm so bored of worrying, I have to trust everyone knows how to do their jobs

Lil221 · 26/08/2019 22:30

@onisa7 my advice would be to stay calm and just in the medical team. I was so nervous to was unreal. I was taken in and only waited 5 mins before I was out then woke up back in my room.

Hi @stephy nice to meet you.

I'm looking forward to hearing from the embryologists tomorrow to see what were working with x

@Stephy6781 welcome to the chat. Sounds like you had a tough journey. what's your story? you say you two MC s were they very early? did your consultant say if there were any issues? did they suggest aspirin etc? how long have you been TTC if you don't mind me asking

@Parkandride that's really close. keep positive ( although i struggle to be calm myself) .. it is indeed a tough journey and I hope Thursday will go smoothly with plenty of eggs collected xxx

@Onisa7 good luck tomorrow. having been through these a few times now I'd say go as you are don't stress about what you wear etc. Just shower and remove nail varnish and don't wear any perfume or makeup. make sure you are comfortable. Hopefully it will go smoothly and you will get lots of eggs that fertilise and a bfp at the end x all the best

How is everyone else doing?

hugs to all

Stephy6781 · 27/08/2019 06:53

@facevalue my first miscarriage was in July last year when I was 10 weeks pregnant. The second was in May this year when I was 5 weeks gone. We have had tests done under a fertility clinic which has shown my ovaries are “getting tired” . My egg reserve isn’t the best due to my age therefore we have been put forward for IVF, and as my partners sperm motility isn’t the best they have also recommended ICSI. We have been trying to conceive for just under 2 years in total. Hardest journey of my life it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions! They haven’t mentioned Aspirin to me although a friend did so I started taking one a day but this hasn’t really helped me. I’ve quit alcohol and caffeine and I’ve been taking the folic acid and vit D since before my first pregnancy last year!

LillyLeaf · 27/08/2019 09:01

@Onisa7 good luck with you retrieval today.

@Stephy6781 welcome and so sorry about your miscarriages, I've had 2 (after IVF) myself and they are awful. I'm only 3 days into my stims so you're not far behind me.

@Parkandride exciting you'll be triggering, I'm sure the injection is fine. It's so hard to not worry about every little stage, but at this point there is absolutely nothing we can do. I'm trying not to think about follicle numbers etc because it's doesn't really mean anything, they will get whatever eggs are there and ready.

@Lil221 fingers crossed for the update, I found that bit the worst, all the waiting is a killer.

I have acupuncture today to encourage those follicles.

LillyLeaf · 27/08/2019 09:20

Did any of you start feeling anything after just 3 days of stims? I'm on a high dose so thought I might feel some ovary activity by now? I can't remember much from my first cycle.

Lil221 · 27/08/2019 09:34

@lillyleaf around day 3 I started to feel really mithered all the time and a little bit flustered with making decisions. Physically I didnt really feel much different.

I've just had a phone call and I've got 9 fertilised eggs which I'm so pleased with. I didn't imagine for a second they would get so many x

facevalue · 27/08/2019 09:54

@lil211 congratulations. excellent news and well done to you for cooking so well ☺️ what's your plan now?

your name would not come up at the drop down menu for some reason!

facevalue · 27/08/2019 09:58

@Stephy6781 so sorry to hear. i had a chemical pregnancy in May too and it was so awful i cried everyday for 2 weeks and it took 2 months to feel ok enough to start another cycle x Just know you are not alone and ICSI or IVF is not a guarantee either do counselling and meditation might help.

i found my stress and emotions made me feel isolated and even lonely and pushed my husband away... if you can try not to make my mistake

try to involve a friend or relative and definitely someone at work to get the support if needed x

LillyLeaf · 27/08/2019 10:00

@Lil221 that's fantastic news, fingers crossed for the next few days.

Onisa7 · 27/08/2019 14:21

@Stephy6781 welcome and I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that. Hopefully things will get better soon

@Parkandride the trigger is just another shot...think like that. I know it's hard to trust them. Sometimes I wish I knew more so I could reassure myself more often, Btut as my boyfriend says...they've done this a lot more times that you have. So I trust them, there's really nothing else I can do!

@Lil221 wow that's great. What amazing news. So happy for you! Keep us posted

@Facevalue thanks I aapreciate the encouragement :)

@LillyLeaf I started to feel a bit bloated and tired but only when I added the morning shot and only for the first initial days. To be honest at some point I was "freaking out" because I couldn't feel any different.

So, I retrived today and out of 6 follicles they got 5 eggs. I'm not unhappy. Could've been more if all the 12 follicles responded but there's nothing I can do about. The doctor didn't say if they were mature or not (my boyfriend was under the impression that she said that they don't grade the eggs, not sure) and tomorrow we should know more. I am petrified that none will fertilize. She said that the transfer will probably be Friday (day 3) so I'm already thinking that that's maybe because they are not very good quality or else she would leave them until day 5....don't know.

Thank you so much ladies for your words of wisdom yesterday. I was so nervous going in but it was actually ok and haven't had any pain or discomfort (so far).

facevalue · 27/08/2019 14:32

@onisa7 fantastic news.
absolutely don't read too much into it. they will call you as agreed.

i sent a reply about this topic in the other group i'm following

there's no difference between day3 and day5 success ( pregnancy rate or live births) only for younger women they choose day5 ( and if many embryos) to try to select. i believe they judge every case separately and you can ask the question.

i am planning a day3 transfer after a detailed chat with the embryologist.

well done to you x 5 is an excellent number
