everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.
Lil x

Hi @facevalue, thank you for the reassurance. The embryologist who came to speak with me did say that it was "common" to do day 3 transfers when there were not many eggs. Now we just need to know if any fertilized (good thing that I'll be sleeping throghout half of the waiting time) When are you doing your transfer?

Jacky19 · 27/08/2019 21:31

I am not sure If it is allowed but I have leftover of medication from my prior IVF cycles that I won't be needing so I would like to donate it. The medication is Gonal F, Fostimon and the growth hormone Zomacton. Gonal F expiration date is in October 2019, the rest of the medication has enough time. Please send me a message if you are interested

facevalue · 28/08/2019 05:25

@Onisa7 good. why would you be sleeping? i didn't understand

Onisa7 · 28/08/2019 07:28

@facevalue because they're supposed to call now in the morning and I would sleep at night. Sorry, bad joke I know. I'm prone to those GrinGrinGrinGrin

LillyLeaf · 28/08/2019 10:25

First scan done, 10 good sized follicles which is pretty much what I had last time. Looks ok so far. Another scan on Friday.

facevalue · 28/08/2019 10:57

@Onisa7 In short, embryo culture until day 5 is a complex process that helps to improve selection of embryos for transfer and thus minimises the number of embryos transferred, avoiding twin pregnancies and achieving good results throughout the pregnancy. Even so, in those cases where additional embryo selection is not necessary ( due to low numbers and no objections to twin pregnancy) early transfer, on day 3, is a reasonable alternative that leads to a quality transfer.

@LillyLeaf that's fantastic news well done you. stay healthy take your vitamins, fruit veg no alcohol etc xxx keep us posted

Lil221 · 28/08/2019 11:12

Morning everyone, how did everyone get on after collection and with the pessaries? I still have a really tender lower tummy yet I didnt bleed after the procedure. With the pessaries did anyone get any symptoms? Thanks x

OP posts:
facevalue · 28/08/2019 13:11

@Lil221 definitely lots of side effects. read the leaflets. i have period pains, sore boobs, hot cold, mood swings, bloating etc ... i even told my husband to remember i felt crap before any embryo was put back so that i don't start imagining i'm pregnant or having a period until test day 😑

Onisa7 · 28/08/2019 17:45

@facevalue thank you for the explanation. It's really useful to have it all laid out like that.

@LillyLeaf that's great numbers. You're on the right path ;)

@Lil221 I had no symptoms at all after egg collection or after starting the pessaries last night so I'm really useless to give you some feedback, sorry, but I hope it's gotten better by now.

I got the call from the embryologist today in the morning. 3 of the 5 eggs fertilized!! I can't tell you how nervous I was on that call, my heart was coming out through my mouth. Even though it's not a massive quantity I keep reminding myself of what some of you have been telling me "It only takes one!" Friday we go back in and hopefully will do a 3 day transfer.

Is anyone else trasnfering this week?

Lil221 · 28/08/2019 17:49

@onisa7 congrats on the 3 fertilised that's such great news. Were both at the same point now which is exciting. Did you say you transfer Friday? My transfer is Saturday morning x

OP posts:
Onisa7 · 28/08/2019 20:54

@Lil221 depending on how they develop yes, I probably transfer Friday. The embryologist said that because there's only a few they prefer to transfer earlier rather than waiting. Unless they are all doing really amazing and then we could wait until Sunday. So yes, I guess I'll be 1 day earlier or 1 day after you Smile. Exciting but so scary at the same time. Sorry if I missed this, but all of the fertilized ones are going strong? How are you dealing with the wait?

Lil221 · 28/08/2019 21:15

@onisa7 that's great news about your transfer...that's really exciting. As of yesterday I had 9 fertilised but I anticipate that number dropping. I will get another update tomorrow though. In regards to the wait I've just been focusing on getting my daughters school uniform and I move house tomorrow. Honestly I couldn't cram anymore into this week lol x

My heart goes out to you ladies waiting for embryo reports, it's so nerve wracking. Everything crossed for you.

Parkandride · 28/08/2019 21:26

@Onisa7 and lil congrats on your fertilised eggs, hope they continue to grow strong!

@LillyLeaf glad first scan went well Smile

Triggered last night and the bloat is real today! Enjoying a day of no needles and looking forward to seeing what's in store at egg collection tomorrow.

Turns out we have an ivf policy at work and you can have 5 days off per cycle, learn something every day!

LillyLeaf · 29/08/2019 10:00

@Parkandride good luck with your EC today.

I've had lower back ache the past few days, I hope that's normal. It's a bit of a strange day for me as today should have been my due date from my first pregnancy, it's feels pretty shit that I'm not pregnant again at this point and I feel like time is slipping through my fingers. Trying to remain positive but it's hard. This cycle will be a freeze all so I won't be transferring for months, more wishing away time.

I hope those waiting for transfers are doing ok.

facevalue · 29/08/2019 10:31

@LillyLeaf 😢 so sorry to read this. it's so so painful to get bfp then MC. my heart goes to you babe. i've been there.

sorry to ask this but i'm not familiar with the embryo genetic testing. is there a specific condition you are testing for? how old r u? why do you say time slipping away

my best friend has a genetic familial disease so she had ivf and embryos tested ( but they know the specific problem) and she had 2 normal embryos and she put both back at age 39 and she now has 3 years old boy/ girl twin. she never had a MC b4.

is your clinic specialising in this test? is it 100%? MC usually happens if abnormal embryo/ foetus

if my cycle now didn't work or i have bfp then mc i'll be in the same position as u i guess xxx big hugs

LillyLeaf · 29/08/2019 10:56

@facevalue thanks. We're not testing for a specific conditions (myself and DP have been tested and we don't have any genetic issues) but testing to avoid transferring abnormal embryos. We've now had 2 MCs and our remaining 3 embryos were tested abnormal so that's why we're testing again. I'm 36, I know it's not old in the IVF world but I don't feel like I've had much luck so far. I feel time to slipping away in terms of wishing the months away instead of living and enjoy my life, I'm always looking forward to the next cycle. I think most clinics offer PSG/PGD testing now but it is still a new science.

Parkandride · 29/08/2019 12:17

We got 15 eggs, better than I thought! Feeling fine so far but heading home for a snooze, hope doesn't get worse as painkillers wear off.

Oh lilly be kind to yourself, the waiting sucks x

LillyLeaf · 29/08/2019 12:21

@Parkandride that's a fantastic result, enjoy your snooze.

Onisa7 · 29/08/2019 12:25

@parkandride woop woop what an amazing number! well done! Have a well deserved rested.

Lil221 · 30/08/2019 08:51

Hey guys, these pessaries are the just brutal on my hormones. My boobs burn there that sore lol I got an update yesterday that I'm down to 7 embryos which is still good. I moved house yesterday so got lots to do today to keep my mind off everything.
@onisa7 how are you getting along

OP posts:
Parkandride · 30/08/2019 09:07

Out of the 15 eggs 10 were mature and 9 have fertilised, very pleased! Going to be a long wait until Tuesday for the next update.

How is everyone else doing?

Onisa7 · 30/08/2019 10:11

Hi everyone, currently in the waiting room drinking water and waiting to be called in. The 3 are still going but 1 seems more promising so we're gonna do a 3 day transfer today. Not sure of the other ones will survive until Sunday for freezing but will see. The embryologist said that there could be a possibility of putting 2 today so I think they might not be great quality. Will know grading when they call us.

@parkandride that's still an amazing number. So pleased for you.

@Lil221 not long to go now. Keep us posted on their development. The pessaries have actually been ok. I just have a bit of a "weight" on my lower tummy but other than that just hate that they melt and some of it comes off (sorry TMI)

LillyLeaf · 30/08/2019 10:50

@Lil221 that's great and moving house is a great distraction.

@Parkandride great results fingers crossed for the next few days, it's the hardest bit.

@Onisa7 that's so exciting, I found the transfer was totally surreal.

I've just had another scan, looking ok so far but still got a while to go yet and starting to feel a bit sluggish.

How many days between starting stims and EC did you all do?

Onisa7 · 30/08/2019 12:22

So, we've done a 3 day transfer today. It is definitely surreal @LillyLeaf. The one we put back today is a 8 cell with no fragmentation which is what they expect at this time (at least that's what the embryologist said). The other 2 are still quite behind with only 3 cells so not sure if I'll have anything to freeze. Fingers crossed and let the wait begin (again)

@LillyLeaf I did my egg collection on day 15 of the cycle, so had stimms for 12 days and then trigger shot on the 13th at night
