everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.
Lil x

@Parkandride it's so hard. I feel like I'm about to loose 6 embryos. (Still haven't heard anything).

Rachel3214 · 25/09/2019 14:51

@LillyLeaf, any news? x

LillyLeaf · 25/09/2019 17:04

@Rachel3214 no nothing yet, so cruel. They've booked an appointment tomorrow morning so I'll find out then which does make my feel they want to explain bad news in person.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 25/09/2019 17:31

@LillyLeaf
That's my worry too I'd rather have bad news about our PGS testing over the phone at home where I can have a good cry x

Parkandride · 25/09/2019 17:41

I'm hoping it's in person so they can go through transfer plans with you!

Rachel3214 · 25/09/2019 18:16

@LillyLeaf, please don’t give up. There’s still hope! I have everything crossed for you! x

LillyLeaf · 25/09/2019 18:24

So we have 1 normal out of 6 embryos. I'm obviously pleased with 1 but also a bit disappointed. We really need to have a think about what we do now. Either do another retrieval cycle to attempt to bank another normal which will forfeit our multi cycle program so will cost us a lot. Or transfer the one, maybe get pregnant and have no back up for a second child by then I'll be another 2 years older (fyi I'll be 37 in December). God this is so hard.

@LillyLeaf oh babe ... i'd probably be gutted if had 7 embryos and then have to bin 6. you know i'm not familiar with the testing you are having but in my position i've only had one embryo each time in 2cycles and 2 embryos in 2 cycles and 3 embryos put back in may- chemical pregnancy !

what i'm trying to say is i had one healthy baby after one embryo and no frozen! you really only need one! fingers crossed.. i'm sure you will do whatever is best for u and hubby.
i would have the embryo put back then start a fresh if it doesn't work .. until then take the good vitamins ( they expensive but worth it) no alcohol and really nurture your body / mind in readiness for this embryo ... it should stick.. u r still young and you can try again after u have a baby and save a bit of money.. you might even have a twin! what will be will be xxx fingers crossed

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 26/09/2019 06:49

@LillyLeaf
Congrats on getting 1!
If you are certain you would want to give a child a sibling then I would do another egg collection and testing if you can afford it

That way it will also be less pressure if for whatever reason the transfer didn't work first time

Rachel3214 · 26/09/2019 08:25

I’m majorly stressed today. My period is due in 4 days, and I’m getting strong cramps and sickness. We’re only 3 days since the transfer.
This is absolutely my last chance. I had OHSS and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in ‘14. There’s no possibility of another egg collection because it’s too risky. God help me if this fails!

LillyLeaf · 26/09/2019 09:58

Still massively undecided. I don't even know if I want another child, trying to have 1 is had enough and has put my life on hold. But I know it will be a lot harder in a few years time as I obviously have crappy eggs if we did want another one. It's hard to know what we'll want in the future.

facevalue · 26/09/2019 13:22

@Rachel3214 i wouldn't give up. you can low dose IVF so i wouldn't assume u can't have more cycles. hopefully this one sticks and you get a baby or two xxx fingers crossed

Stacey2007 · 26/09/2019 17:30

Can someone please tell me when I’m suppose to start taking the cyclogest ? At none of the meetings have they mentioned it, I’m hoping I haven’t missed taking it, even though I don’t know what it’s for. 🙉 gosh you have so much to remember with ivf

Parkandride · 26/09/2019 17:43

Results are in, we sent 6 embryos for PGD and PGS.

4 has my genetic condition, and 1 of those 4 was chromosomally abnormal too.
2 normal and healthy, however they were my lowest quality, slowest ones - graded 5CB and 3CC.

They said that the fact they're healthy trumps the poor quality. But also said if it was "normal" ivf they wouldn't have bothered freezing them. So I'm feeling conflicted.
Tried reading online and there's conflicting research of course. Just feels a bit anticlimactic and unlikely to work Sad

Planning on transferring in January, depending on when my periods fall.

facevalue · 26/09/2019 18:36

@Stacey2007 do you mean the pessaries? you start this from the night u have your egg collection it helps ripen the womb so it's ready for embryo transfer and you continue twice per day until 12 weeks pregnant x

facevalue · 26/09/2019 18:39

@Parkandride sorry to hear about the abnormal 4. but 2 normal is excellent news.

i had a mid to poor quality embryo transferred who is now my 2 year old DD. just get them back in and keep your fingers crossed xxx it's good news as far as i'm concerned

GreyC · 26/09/2019 19:09

@Stacey2007 I had egg retrieval today and the embryologist said they will confirm when to take mine - starting Saturday. So I would check if not sure. I had 4 eggs retrieved today ☺️

facevalue · 26/09/2019 19:46

@greyc that's fantastic x you can rest now. i'm surprised they didn't tell you to start the pessaries tonight! i have the documents and they all say start pessaries from tonight ( after egg collection) . it was the same advice in my previous clinic too.

GreyC · 26/09/2019 19:56

They are ringing tomorrow so probably tell me then more information.

Stacey2007 · 26/09/2019 21:24

Thankyou! I thought I wasn’t missing it 😅🙉 @GreyC how was it ?

GreyC · 26/09/2019 21:28

It was fine; I managed to stay really calm & everyone was lovely. Rested all day and will tomorrow. :) I was asleep during it and woke up like I’d had a great sleep. But if pain and dizziness but nothing much!

Stacey2007 · 26/09/2019 21:30

They put you to sleep? 😮

GreyC · 27/09/2019 00:05

Sedation; makes you feel abit droopy then I fell asleep. Didn’t feel a thing.

Stacey2007 · 27/09/2019 06:50

How long after everyone started gonal f was egg collection? I haven’t got my other appointment till Wednesday and I’m still trying to work out what few days to be able to book off for egg collection 🙈

GreyC · 27/09/2019 07:42

Mine was 9 days for my first scan; which was a Friday; then a Monday scan and then retrieval Thursday. They also scanned me the day of the egg retrieve as they wanted to use my pictures for a science paper. I found out Monday when my retrieval would be.
