everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.

@Maggie272 I came on today, but today was my due date and I don’t feel as stressed about it now I’ve read online more, they tell you so much stuff just before starting Ivf I came out and was like what the hell did she even say 🙄🙈 but I have scan on Tuesday so hopefully I will know by then more info on when our egg collection day should be, how did you find the egg collection ? Is it as scary as it all seems? Giving you the best of luck for all your results

Maggie272 · 21/09/2019 21:32

@Stacey2007 Egg collection was fine, I was given anaesthetic and felt as though I slept during the procedure - don't remember anything. And I was terrified. I'd do it again, no problem! xx

LillyLeaf · 21/09/2019 21:33

@Maggie272 yes they are horribly messy, but it's just the wax coating coming out. My clinic said the progesterone is absorbed within 20 minutes so don't worry.

Maggie272 · 21/09/2019 21:35

Also, if there's anyone else out there who practices yoga (modified to easy peasy while going through this) would you mind letting me know if you continued practicing....or if you like exercise did you continue? I feel massive after all the needles and progesterone and would love to move my body - not to lose weight, but just to get a little circulation going. I daren't do anything after starting to cramp today....

Maggie272 · 21/09/2019 21:35

@LillyLeaf, you're a star, thank you for answering that xxx

Yorkshirehope · 22/09/2019 12:23

Two days till official test day but been spotting since Friday ( my normal cycle date) and a little more today. Think it will be a BFN for us. Hope that we can go again next month. Good luck with everyone else x

LillyLeaf · 22/09/2019 12:59

@Yorkshirehope I've got everything crossed for you. Have you tested at all yet?

I've just done my first 'couch to 5k' run. I really want to get in shape again. This year has not been kind to my body. I'm not overweight but I'm bigger than I want to be and feeling very flabby. Hopefully I can keep it up.

@Maggie272 as I understand it light yoga is fine and good for circulation and of course your mind. I did it while doing stims. Just avoid any twisting.

Stacey2007 · 22/09/2019 17:46

Iknow I will find more out on Tuesday when I go for a scan but just wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea, I’m hoping I will start my second injection after scan ( sorry I can’t remember what you call it without looking) but roughly how long after then is egg collection? I’ve got to book a couple of days off work for it and I’m just wondering when it could be 🙈

HappyParent2000 · 22/09/2019 18:03

Ouch, none ours survived to screening.

Quiet night in our house of reflection and grieving,

15 collected, 8 fert and 4 developed.

Self funded so our amazing journey ends here.

Maggie272 · 22/09/2019 18:25

@Stacey2007 you really need to phone the clinic, because everyone is a little different. I started on the pill 2nd - 23rd August, 23rd - 6th September on Buserelin for down regging, 6th - 16th September on Menopur, and my egg collection on 18th September xxx

Maggie272 · 22/09/2019 18:26

@HappyParent2000 I'm so sorry, keeping you in my thoughts xxx

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 22/09/2019 18:28

@LillyLeaf
I hear you on the getting in shape! I feel huge although I'm sure a lot is to do with the medications - my egg collection is tomorrow in London 🤞🤞

LillyLeaf · 22/09/2019 18:49

@Stacey2007 everyone is different, I think I was on stims for 10 days this time and maybe more the first time. It's really hard to know when your ec will be, they'll do it when your follicles are ready. I found out on a Monday night that my ec was a Wednesday morning, not much notice at all.

@HappyParent2000 so sorry, it's such a cruel journey. Look after yourself.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted good luck with your ec tomorrow, everything crossed for you.

facevalue · 22/09/2019 18:55

@happyparent2000 i'm so so sorry to hear this. i'm gutted for you. i can't get my head round this blastocyte day5 thing and just having to waste them in the process.. i only ever had day3 or day4 transfer. im really sorry if it is the end ( i hope you will win the lottery and it isn't the end really) xxx hugs

Maggie272 · 23/09/2019 08:41

HI Everyone

Got three blastocysts, and one other they are going to keep culturing until tomorrow to see if it improves. So today they are transferring one and freezing two. Is there anything I need to do before or after? Have butterflies and my tummy always gets a little funny when I'm nervous! But am also excited! xxx

LillyLeaf · 23/09/2019 08:58

@Maggie272 that's fantastic news! Enjoy today, it's so surreal walking around after knowing there's an embryo in you. I think the advice I've had after ET is just continue as normal but no caffeine, no vit A products eg retinols, no heavy lifting. I just took it easy. Good luck and fingers crossed for the last one tomorrow.

I'll probably get my pgs results this week. I didn't sleep at all last night. Waiting for my phone to ring it's so stressful. I'm guessing it will be wednesday or Thursday.

Hope everyone is getting on ok.

Stacey2007 · 23/09/2019 11:57

What’s everyone’s opinion on the man going on a night out (drinking) while going through ivf.... would it effect anything ?

Vilanelle · 23/09/2019 12:26

@HappyParent2000 Sorry to hear this. Sending you love and strength.

@Stacey2007 Depends what stage you are at I guess?

I had a false faint positive with a clearblue test on weekend. So annoyed. Others came negative and after googling clearblue false positive - I am staying away from them

Stacey2007 · 23/09/2019 12:40

We are going for our first scan tomorrow after been on the first injection for just over 2 weeks

Vilanelle · 23/09/2019 12:41

@Stacey2007 are you iui or IVF? Sounds like they will need his sperm soon so he should really stay away from alcohol

Stacey2007 · 23/09/2019 12:45

Ivf yes! I’ve said this to him 😡

LillyLeaf · 23/09/2019 12:54

@Stacey2007 I think he needs to stay away from alcohol before egg collection. Does he really want to risk affecting this cycle but just having a drink?

Stacey2007 · 23/09/2019 13:06

I keep trying my best to tell him this. It’s so frustrating. Men are so selfish!

facevalue · 23/09/2019 13:12

@Stacey2007 if his sperm test was normal it really won't do much. I wouldn't create drama in your relationship. having said that, i gave my hubby such dirty looks if i thought he had a drink and I still do.. we are all hormonal and it's so annoying that it's 99% about the female. let it go. some women still drink during a cycle just be calm and kind if you can. you could just be honest and say: darling i'm feeling a lot of pressure and I would feel more supported if you stop drinking while i'm unable to drink..

@LillyLeaf goodluck xxx

Stacey2007 · 23/09/2019 13:16

He doesn’t drink all the time he just wants to go on a lads night out this weekend, his sperm was at a low last time, wasn’t fully okay. Yeah I feel so stressed but I still think he’s selfish 😂
