Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

I'll join you. I'll be doing my first FET. I did a fresh transfer in December which resulted in my first BFP. I went on to miscarry, I found out at 9 weeks. We have another 4 embryos. So I'll start Buserelin on the 4th April cd 21. I can't wait to get started although both outcomes will be scary. Good luck

Hi I am waiting for AF and due to start first cycle in 2 weeks or so. This is our first treatment so not sure what to expect or what medication I will be on. Feeling both excited and nervous.

FingersXssd83 · 29/03/2019 18:21

Can I join? I've had failed cycles in Oct and Jan so this will be our third and final funded cycle with the NHS.

Had a single blast and double blast transfer on the last two goes. Sadly haven't ever had any to freeze.

This time we're changing from Menopur to increased amount of Gonal F, our consultant has also put us on aspirin, steroid and anticoagulant. Still on short protocol and just waiting for AF to arrive. Estimate EC will be the 12th April with OTD at the end of the month.

Be great to have some company for the ride. Good luck ladies! x x

Can I join?
I'm in the middle of my first ICSI cycle, I start gonal f tonight, been taking buserelin for the past two weeks. EC should be around 9/10 April hopefully. I'm probably a little further on than the rest of you.
Fingers crossed for everyone 😊

Hi all,

Wish you all the best of luck. I’m on the previous ivf month thread but actually my cycle will turn out to be more April/May. It will be my first cycle-currently on day 9 of 12 of norethisterone and hopefully should get my period in about a week time and start stimms soon after-with a view to egg collection around Good Friday.

Have been wishing the time away but suddenly realised it’s very close and got a bit concerned about it all! I’m a teacher so fingers crossed this is going to time really well for my easter holidays (as long as my period arrives on time!) which will make all the scans much easier. I have PCO so they will be monitoring me carefully and will be in the clinic most days so its quite a time commitment. Also have endo so hoping my eggs are ok!

Happy Friday!

crazyfools · 29/03/2019 20:09

Joining.....I had my first failed cycle earlier this month - a FET of a grade 3BA after an unexpected freeze all. Just waiting for this cycle to be over to do a double transfer of our remaining two frozen embryos (a 3BA and 5BC) first week of May x

2019isouryear · 29/03/2019 20:40

Good luck to everyone

LillyLeaf · 29/03/2019 22:05

How does everyone cope with all the waiting, I drive myself mad looking at the calendar every 5 minutes to hopefully see the days pass by.

Viletta · 30/03/2019 00:13

Hi all, I'm 32, had a failed IVF/icsi last June, nothing to freeze unfortunately. Just started Menopur. We are having treatment in Czech, I'm very optimistic this time around. Was doing a technique of visualizing the final result (the baby) rather than steps to get it (bfp) so hopefully it'll keep me going. Hope you are doing well. I like keeping myself busy with other projects to make time go by quicker. Good luck:)

2019isouryear · 30/03/2019 07:42

@Viletta hope you don’t mind me asking but how did you go about arranging treatment abroad?

Missmonkeypenny · 30/03/2019 07:48

Hello, I’ll join! We’ll be doing our first transfer ( an FET ) after a freeze all at the beginning of Feb due to OHSS risk (26 eggs produced, I donated 13 of those to a recipient as we egg shared). AF due in 8 days although I’m trying not to get too attached to that date as my previous one was 10 days late! We were offered a two embryo transfer but have opted for a single transfer of a 5AB embryo with a few more in the freezer Smile we’re Male factor infertility.

2019isouryear · 30/03/2019 08:15

@Missmonkeypenny this is our first treatment so still learning, but that’s a great grading. I’ll be starting as soon as AF arrives which should be about 2 weeks, but it feels like it’s dragging.

Missmonkeypenny · 30/03/2019 12:52

Thank you 2019! We have 2x 5AB and one 4AA in the freezer which I am over the moon with given we have such severe Male factor 😊 looks like we’ll have similar dates! Are you doing long or short protocol?

2019isouryear · 30/03/2019 14:58

We are short protocol eager to get started just not sure what to expect.

Missmonkeypenny · 30/03/2019 17:48

2019 I did short protocol and had no issues with it, found the injections really very okay despite worrying beforehand! A little bloated and uncomfortable towards the end but nothing too bad!

Viletta · 30/03/2019 19:00

@2019isouryear hi, it was not that difficult, I have researched couple of clinics with good reviews here and fertility friends forums. Our main driver is quality and price. Czech turned out to be the cheapest and easiest, they didn't want us to come upfront for any preliminary scans and trusted all results that we already had. We had a consultation with the doctor free of charge via Skype and were in correspondence and phone calls with our coordinator. When the protocol was ready we got our prescription and got the meds from fertility2u which costed me about £500 (short protocol with Menopur). The whole treatment with the flights and hotel, plus some scans here in the UK would work around same price than in the UK, but we get lots of extra for our money: new 24/7 incubator that's better for the embryos and Picsi+MACS sperm tests prior icsi. Well and a holiday to Czech:) I'll let you know how we get on

2019isouryear · 30/03/2019 20:58

@Vieletta would be lovely to hear how you get on. We get one cylce on the nhs because of my age (41) keeping my fingers crossed for a positive but know success rate for my age is low but keeping a positive frame of mind.

Thanks @missmonkeypenny not a fan of needles so nice to hear from others who have gone through it

LillyLeaf · 30/03/2019 21:12

The needles are totally fine. It took me a few goes to actually put the first one in but I hardly felt it. I only got a few bruises and my stomach was a bit sore towards the end of injections but nothing too bad (some days I had 3 injections). I was a bit bloated too. I think the hardest part was waiting to hear if the eggs had fertilised and the embryos progress on day 3 and 5. After the transfer and before OTD any 'symptoms' I felt I reminded myself it was the progesterone, it helped to keep sane.

DaisyMay25 · 30/03/2019 21:24

@2019isouryear I remember you from an old thread! I'm on long protocol and just started stims after down regging for two weeks. I'm currently on two injections a day and they're honestly not that bad, I ice the area for a few minutes beforehand.

Viletta · 30/03/2019 21:51

@2019isouryear good luck! Positive attitude definitely helps. I find injections not painful at all and no side effects either. Hope it all goes well!

2019isouryear · 30/03/2019 23:19

Hi @DaisyMay25 yes I’ve been following a few threads but was behind others on where I was up to with my treatment start date. Will definitely try the ice I bruise like a peach.

TwistofFate · 31/03/2019 14:57

Hello, I'm 35 with unexplained infertility and hoping to start our first cycle of IVF/ICSI in May. Wishing everyone the very best of luck!

Todey84 · 31/03/2019 15:21

Hi everyone.

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and found out that I have blocked tubes. Started IVF in Jan, but down regulation didn't work. My lining had shed but I still had follicles, which can often happen apparently. Therefore, cycle got delayed at 1st baseline scan! Resumed buserelin yesterday after being put on the pill for just over a month, so fingers crossed no probs this time. All being well my egg collection will be around the 3rd week of April. Finding the injections fine, but nervous about the egg collection, I have requested copious amounts of sedative!

Good luck everyone. So nice to hear from people go through the same process. :)

AliceAbsolum · 31/03/2019 16:36

Hi everyone,

I'm due to start a short protocol in 2 weeks time, if AF up shows up as expected. My AMH is 1 so the clinic are not really expecting it to work. I'm not exactly keen on going through the whole process for such a small chance, but it's my 1 funded NHS cycle and I think if I don't I'll always look back in regret.
DH and I have decided we will go to Prague and use donor eggs if this cycle doesn't work out. For me the thought of being guaranteed 10 eggs from a 20 year old who has my eye/hair colour and the embryos being PGS tested and choosing the gender just makes logical sense. I like the way you pay for a flight+hotel+embryo package. Obviously I would love my own child, but, there we go. 3.5 years on the NHS waiting list as "unexplained" has said goodbye to that.... Not that I'm bitter or anything Hmm

DaisyMay25 · 31/03/2019 17:04

@2019isouryear I usually bruise easily but just once so far, I've only bled a couple of times too. I made it out to be a lot worse in my head! Just gotta get through the egg collection in a couple of weeks, really dreading that!

Wish everyone all the best!
