IVF March/April

Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@Twiglet2353 I was under sedation but it basically felt like a general as I was completely asleep. Try not to worry as if it’s anything like mine you won’t be aware of a single thing. I actually have a fear of being put to sleep from being held down having an anaesthetic when I was little so I’m the opposite to you and nervous of not being aware and in control hence the extremely high heart-rate last time but I know it will be fine and I’m trying to just keep telling myself that. You mustn’t worry as I honestly think you won’t know a thing. xx

Wesstywoo · 15/03/2019 19:44

@Twiglet2353 my fresh cycle was sedation too and it didn't actually send me to sleep - I remember all of it but it wasn't bad at all, I was actually glad to know immediately how many eggs I had as they were counting them as they went!

Twiglet2353 · 15/03/2019 19:49

Thanks @Wesstywoo @Chester6 @DaisyMay25.
Will they tell me how many eggs they got before I leave then? And when do you find out how many are mature and how many have fertilised?

Wesstywoo · 15/03/2019 19:52

@Twiglet2353 they will call you the next day and tell you that, then you will get updates as to how they are doing. They generally transfer on day 3 or 5 but they like to get them to 5 days if possible at which point it is called a blastocyst

Wesstywoo · 15/03/2019 19:53

@Twiglet2353 you will know how many eggs before you leave but how many fertilised is the next day

WhatWouldPennyDo · 16/03/2019 10:28

Good luck for Monday @Twiglet2353!

Started Fyremadel this morning. That one was stingy! Day 4 of Menopur today. Ticking them off, one by one!

Thund4rcat · 16/03/2019 11:57

@DaisyMay25 don't worry if you had just a droplet of blood at the injection site, I get that randomly every 3 or 4 injections I do, I guess it is just if you hit a tiny blood vessel.

Twiglet2353 · 16/03/2019 12:00

@WhatWouldPennyDo are you using an ice pack to numb it before? If not I definitely recommend it 🙂

DaisyMay25 · 16/03/2019 12:01

@Thund4rcat thank you! I assumed it might have just been a bit of a more tender bit, there's a tiny bit of bruising today but I do bruise easily anyway. I'm on buserelin too.
How're you getting on?

Thund4rcat · 16/03/2019 13:35

@DaisyMay25 still very up and down emotionally. Yesterday my partner admitted he had not taken his vitamin supplements for over a week and I broke down in tears. I was so angry as I am going through so much, and the main reason is due to his low sperm count. And at this critical time too. We are doing ICSI so it's not like he needs loads anyway but I thought the quality might improve with vitamins. Anyway, he has otherwise been very supportive and has started back on the supplements now. I just need to not think too much about his week off them.

Hopingforbabyd · 16/03/2019 14:30

I’m glad you said that @thund4rcat as I too get really emotional when hubby forgets to take his supplements. How have you ladies felt emotionally? I feel in a really good place at the moment and very positive for ivf but I am a worrier (it annoys the hell out of most) and I’m anxious that it will become too much. I know I have support through a councillor at the clinic and they’re there if we need them I just don’t want to go into a dark place again like last year where everything was tough to take in. Silly question really as I know you can’t predict how a cycle will make you feel - I just want to know I’ll be okay

Trigger shot done. Sting like a bitch, even with an ice pack 🤦‍♀️

DaisyMay25 · 17/03/2019 10:57

@Twiglet2353 hopefully worth it though! Fingers crossed for your EC tomorrow, please let me know numbers! Also do you use the ice pack before or after the injection?

@Thund4rcat it's hard isn't it? They don't understand how hard it is for us I think. I'm doing ICSI too but try and get DH to eat things that might help and improve his sample. Where are you in terms of your ivf cycle atm?

@Hopingforbabyd I'm between screaming at people or crying most of the day, luckily time is going quickly but I just wanna know the end result! I'm hoping your period turned up on time for you!

Twiglet2353 · 17/03/2019 15:21

@DaisyMay25 I used it before for about a minute (made so much difference with the Bemfola!) and then afterwards if it's a bit stingy.

Will update you all tomorrow on how many eggs are collected 🙂

Thund4rcat · 17/03/2019 16:02

Good luck @Twiglet2353. Sorry to hear you have had an emotional day.

I am on day 6 of stims. My EC is expected to be 25th March.

Thund4rcat · 17/03/2019 16:03

Oops that second part of my message was meant for @DaisyMay25.

DaisyMay25 · 18/03/2019 09:46

I hope it went well today @Twiglet2353

Twiglet2353 · 18/03/2019 10:45

Thanks for your well wishes. They got 16 eggs. Will hear Wednesday morning from the embryologist about how many fertilised and when to expect embryo transfer x

DaisyMay25 · 18/03/2019 11:09

@Twiglet2353 oh wow! That's a good result! How you feeling? Lots of rest today?

WhatWouldPennyDo · 18/03/2019 11:15

Fantastic @Twiglet2353, congratulations! Rest well x

Twiglet2353 · 18/03/2019 11:16

@DaisyMay25 I'm a bit teary. Just tucked myself up in bed and going to have a Netflix marathon.
My lining has reduced further to 7.1mm, so they've given me some hrt patches as well as the usual progesterone pessaries, and also a small hug trigger shot today to see if we can improve it a bit. Hoping and praying that it works xx

Wesstywoo · 18/03/2019 13:41

Great number @Twiglet2353! Fingers crossed for Wednesday - rest up today and enjoy Netflix xx

Twiglet2353 · 18/03/2019 15:12

Thank you @Wesstywoo

Any good Netflix recommendations guys? I want a easy-watch boxset that I won't want to switch off!

AliceAbsolum · 18/03/2019 15:47

Amazing number @twiglet2353 Look after yourself x

Chester6 · 18/03/2019 16:31

Well done Twiglet2353, that’s such a great number! Were you fully sedated in the end? Hope you aren’t sore. Rest up now. Nervous for mine next week already xx
