IVF March/April

Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

Hi all, I don't want to worry people but rather than get a nasty shock, egg collection is sometimes very painful. In my first round I was literally screaming on the operating table. My friend had the same experience. The only pain like it was when I had an IUD fitted years ago. It was definitely the worst part of the whole process. Recovery was OK, it didn't hurt too much afterwards, just during the procedure itself.

That said, my clinic told me they now have an anaesthetist who can give different drugs this time, that they didn't have last time, so it probably depends what anaesthetic you get. I would definitely recommend asking for as much pain relief as they will give you for this procedure. I was unprepared for the pain and it was quite a shock. I wish I had known so I could prepare myself for it.

Hi @WhatWouldPennyDo wishing you lots of luck for your cycle! Do you start your injections when you start your cycle? I’m due my cycle next weekend then need to ring the clinic to start cd21 of that cycle. Getting real now 😁

Hi @Thund4rcat thanks so much for updating us, I like to hear real life scenarios to ensure I’m prepared. When are you due your next ER? Wishing you lots of luck!

Xx

Hi @hopingforbabyd my scan to check ovaries are quiet before starting stims is on this Tues 12 March, all being well egg collection 25th March. Fingers crossed!

Good luck everyone.

WhatWouldPennyDo · 10/03/2019 21:20

Hi @Hopingforbabyd! Baseline scan will be day 2/3 of cycle and providing all is well, I start Menopur that day. Fyremadel starts on day 5/6, I think, with EC around day 13 - if it goes to plan, of course. I have low AMH and high FSH, so high menopur dosage expected, but not many eggs predicted.

Hopingforbabyd · 10/03/2019 21:41

Best of luck ladies @thund4rcat and @WhatWouldPennyDo really rooting for you both! I’m due to start norethisterone on cd21 of my cycle so early April then stims shortly after 😁

@Thund4rcat thank you for that info, it's always good to hear about different experiences so I'm not completely blind sided. My clinic said they use a sedative so I'm likely to not remember it but I know I'll be anxious up until the point it's done.

Just three days to go until my 21 day scan (well day 18 for me) and hopefully start my injections then.

For people that have already started the injections, how painful are they?

Good luck to everyone else with appointments coming up this week

AliceRi · 11/03/2019 02:28

Hi! I've got a spare Gonasi (trigger) if anyone wants it just send me a shipping address and it is yours.

Just feel bad to throw medicine away as spent so much money on it all.

Big hugs to you all xxx

Thund4rcat · 11/03/2019 10:47

@DaisyMay25 I have found injections mostly fine. Painful if I did it in the stomach so I stuck to my thighs. Bit random depending on if you hit a nerve. Mostly could not feel anything at all, once or twice stung a bit. The first couple were worst for me, stung like a bee sting and for 30 mins or so afterwards too, but after that, no physical reaction at all.

Last time on buserelin I didn't get any side effects emotionally but this time I have been increasingly weepy.

Hi ladies I think there is another March/April thread kicking around somewhere that I've posted on but I can't find it?! Anyway hope you are all ok, I am starting FET this month following a fresh cycle back in December which sadly resulted in a CP. Got one in the freezer and starting norethisterone tomorrow. How is everyone getting on?

DaisyMay25 · 11/03/2019 18:01

Thank you @Thund4rcat I did wonder about where to inject, I thought if it's just stomach that's a lot of injections in one place. Oh no, that doesn't sound fun, I hope your hormones settle down soon, I'm not looking forward to that either. Where are you at in your cycle now?

@Wesstywoo good luck with your FET! You got a date on when it'll be yet??

organicapricot · 11/03/2019 18:24

Had my ET today and not as good as hoped. Only 2 made it and they werent as developed as they'd hoped. They put them both in. Now I start the longest 2 weeks of my life. Keeping everything crossed 🤞

Wesstywoo · 11/03/2019 18:27

Hi @DaisyMay25 yes I do - it'll be around 11 April all being well. It's a medicated cycle so I'll be taking tablets and using pessaries but no injections this time! And I also have to have scans to see how the lining is progressing.

I didn't find the injections too bad on my fresh cycle (and I'm usually a wimp!) I injected in my stomach and the needle was so thin I barely felt it. I moved places a bit each day but it was always kind of belly button level. Good luck with your scan! xx

Hopingforbabyd · 11/03/2019 19:03

Keeping my fingers crossed for you @organicapricot and hoping you are feeling okay. You’re all such brave ladies, I’m nervous to start my journey.

Thinking of you @organicapricot 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Baseline scan for me tomorrow, and if all looks ok (please, please!) then I think I’ll start the short protocol tomorrow.

DaisyMay25 · 12/03/2019 16:26

@organicapricot fingers crossed! When's your test date?

@WhatWouldPennyDo I've got my scan tomorrow too! I'm on long protocol though, good luck with yours tomorrow

Wesstywoo · 12/03/2019 17:11

Fingers crossed for you @organicapricot! X

WhatWouldPennyDo · 12/03/2019 17:23

Good luck to you too, @DaisyMay25! Will be thinking of you.

Twiglet2353 · 12/03/2019 20:04

Keeping my fingers crossed for you @organicapricot

I'm on Day 7 of stims - Bemfola and Fyremadel. Scan tomorrow to see how I'm responding. A little uncomfy but otherwise feeling fine so far 🤞

Hopingforbabyd · 12/03/2019 20:08

Hi ladies! I’ve had my documents through today to sign and return to start norethisterone on cd21 so that should be beginning of April. In the documents our clinic have offered us to use EmbryoGlue. Has anyone used/been offered this for their cycle? I think we are going to opt for it just wondering if anyone has heard of this before?

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 12/03/2019 20:16

@Hopingforbabyd yeah it's a standard at our unit, even covered on the nhs funded cycles x

DaisyMay25 · 12/03/2019 20:31

@Twiglet2353 good luck for your scan tomorrow!

@Hopingforbabyd we're opting for embryoglue in our cycle, it's an add on and £125 for us. My theory is that I'd rather opt for it than regret not opting for it if the cycle isn't successful

Hopingforbabyd · 12/03/2019 20:56

Thanks @twiglet2353 - can’t believe it’s already day 7 of your stims it’s flying by isn’t it! Hoping you’re feeling okay.

@daisymay25 I’m exactly the same thinking as you 😊

How's everyone getting on today?

I had my scan, she had to tip the bed up and all sorts to see my left ovary! Got the result we wanted though and started my injections today, didn't hurt at all but afterwards was just a sting and a bit itchy, back on the 28th to hopefully start stims

Fingers crossed you all got the resulted you needed today those who had appointments

WhatWouldPennyDo · 13/03/2019 13:54

Glad it went well @daisymay25!

My scan was fine. Start my injections tonight, with fyremadel added on Saturday morning. Back in a week for the first scan.

Twiglet2353 · 13/03/2019 14:18

@WhatWouldPennyDo ooh someone else on Fyremadel! I can't seem to find many other posts about it. Ice pack compress works a dream, ive not felt a single one of my stims x
