Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@2019isouryear Ah that's brilliant. Takes some stress off doesn't it.

@Hopingforbabyd How did your 3rd injection go? I've just done my 2nd, definitely easier but still takes me 15 minutes and my anxiety is at about 40%.

Hopingforbabyd · 20/04/2019 19:35

@aliceabsolum I was just thinking of you. Just done my 3rd I’m quite shaky when I do it so made myself bleed again as I think I’m knocking small veins as I put it in but will get there. Managed to pull all the solution into the syringe tonight without panicking lol. I think because when you lift your finger off the plunger it pulls back quickly I just need to get the hang of it. I look forward to 1920 every night when I can prep and then the anxiety kicks in when it’s time 🙈 how did yours go tonight? X

@Hopingforbabyd yeah it's just fiddly isn't it. We are opposite, I dislike the prep because I'm worried about squirting it everywhere but I don't mind the actual stabbing bit at all.
I've got 3 vials of menopur so when I get to the last one the vaccum is sketchy, feels like I'm going to yank it out across the room Confused

AliceAbsolum · 20/04/2019 20:30

Had anyone read the menopur leaflet? Come on!

Hopingforbabyd · 20/04/2019 20:34

Bless you @aliceabsolum I completely agree it’s all very fiddly and I imagine 3 is very nerve wracking I struggle with just the two. I keep getting twinges in my ovaries is this normal so early on? Ewgh haha urine?! The things we do eh 🙈

I know! 😭 It clearly can't be produced synthetically.... How do they even recruit for that?
What do you do? Oh I send my wee to pharmaceutical companies to make ivf drugs. Right...

DaisyMay25 · 20/04/2019 21:02

At least I know when I eventually get to that age my pee will be useful!

Sorka · 21/04/2019 08:47

@daisymay25 @westywoo @aliceabsolum Taxi was my first choice, but my clinic are insisting I need someone I know to come with me and stay with me for 48 hours afterwards. They won’t do it under local. Ridiculous! Interesting to know that other clinics are willing to let people get taxis. They were even more vocal about not being willing for me to get a taxi than over the local.

@2019isouryear sedation does seem to be standard, but I hate it so much I’d rather just have the local and 15 minutes of discomfort than two days of feeling rubbish + stressing about it beforehand. I’m resistant to sedation etc anyway, so it either won’t work or I’ll get such a high dose I’ll be a complete mess afterwards. I once woke up when I was under general!

My top priority is finding an option that means someone else doesn’t need to come, but my clinic aren’t listening when I say how important that is to me.

AliceAbsolum · 21/04/2019 09:03

@Sorka mine are also very strict, they'd be fine with a taxi but not alone. Can you say you don't have anyone full stop and can they keep you in hospital?
Could you hire a carer privately for a day or so?
Go and stay in a hostel dorm room...? It's whacky but I'm thinking out the box Confused

Sorka · 21/04/2019 09:27

@2019isouryear don’t worry about the blood. I had bleeding the second night when I got myself in a bit of a mess and took a couple of goes to get it right.

Sorka · 21/04/2019 09:44

@aliceabsolum I asked about staying in. They don’t do overnight so I said how about I stay for a few hours then get a taxi but again a no.

I looked into finding a doula but didn’t have any luck. I don’t know of any hostels, but I don’t want to stay in a strange place. I want to go home.

I just want to go under my own steam and come home, without someone knowing my private business or being in my space when I want peace, quiet and solitude Sad

DaisyMay25 · 21/04/2019 09:50

@Sorka how frustrating for you. Mine wouldn't let people leave on their own either, they had to go through discharge forms and aftercare with DH. What a horrid situation for you to be in. Have they suggested a solution?

Sorka · 21/04/2019 10:46

@daisymay25 Thanks for understanding. No. None. They just keep insisting I need to take someone. I stressed confidentiality again, and the nurse said “Well I suppose you could not tell them, but with the name of the clinic...” then shrugged.

Wesstywoo · 21/04/2019 10:56

@Sorka what a difficult predicament Flowers I would have hoped that they would show a little more understanding on the confidentiality front and they surely must have had people in the same situation before. A doula might be a bit harder to find but is it possible to hire a nurse or carer for the day I wonder? xx

Sorka · 21/04/2019 11:17

@westywoo you’d think so wouldn’t you? I have my next appointment tomorrow. I’ll try and talk them into local again. I had a cyst aspirated under local this week which they wanted to sedate me for and it was absolutely fine. I’ll look into a carer for the day if it doesn’t work, but I really don’t want some random in my house when I’m trying to rest.

@sorka do your clinic not offer a chaperone? Bless you it is so hard when you want to stay private yet they don’t understand. I hope they will allow you to get a taxi it’s your rights x

Viletta · 21/04/2019 16:13

@Sorka I had both local and sedative and felt equally dizzy afterwards. Both times the clinics insisted on having someone look after me in case any complications occur. Sorry to hear you are in this situation.

@DaisyMay25 congratulations on the bfp! Amazing news!

mouse1234567 · 21/04/2019 18:15

Happy Easter everyone!

Regarding the menopur I had To laugh when my acupuncturist told me that originally it was made from menopausal nun’s urine! She actually explained that why it shouldn’t make you feel too bad as it’s all natural! Haha! Apparently the pope and nuns felt sorry for women struggling to conceive and wanted to help! Interesting eh!

2019isouryear · 21/04/2019 18:22

How are u getting on with your stims @Hopingforbabyd and @AliceAbsolum

Hope u get everything sorted @Sorka.

Hope you’ve had a relaxing Easter weekend @mouse1234567 with some treats.

Reading the menopur made me giggle.
