Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

Thanks @AliceAbsolum

@Chester6 I was sedated but awake and aware of everything. Just felt a little bit drunk. Definitely painful in parts but manageable. Feel uncomfortable now but no period pain and managing on paracetemol. Overall definitely better than I'd bigged it up to be in my head!

Actually having said that I do not remember how I got out of the procedure room and into recovery. I'm guessing they wheeled me through on a bed? Haha literally no idea!

Hey Ladies, its so comforting to read about the stages you are all at. I have my baseline scan on Thursday 21st and then apparently that will decide what protocol I get put on.... we have nurse planning after the scan. I feel like our clinic does things quite differently. Also, it's a bit strange that we haven't met with a consultant at the IVF clinic but they said its because we have been referred through NHS we don't need to? It might just be me, but I feel like they may be cutting corners... clinic has great success rates though.

I have low AMH (30 years old), let see what happens but I hope its the short protocol since I've heard its easier on your body!
Still filling out forms and watching videos over here! haha its endless!!

Netflix suggestions:
-Suits
-Wild Wild Country (this is weird but so interesting!)
-Bad Neighbors (you'll be laughing uncontrollably)

DaisyMay25 · 18/03/2019 17:32

@akmaan I think all clinics do things differently. I'm NHS and I've had about six appointments before I started but that's probably just their procedure.
I guess it works better for you because it means you can get straight to it!
Good luck for your scan on Thursday, let us know how you get on!
I'm long protocol, my clinic seems to opt more for them

@Twiglet2353 I'm glad it wasn't that bad! Hopefully you get some good numbers when you call, keep us all updated.
Not sure about Netflix recommendations, I'm in to utterly awful tv.
Pick a long series, gossip girl is a nice easy(ish) watch with a lot of episodes
Film wise I watched 'isn't it romantic' the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it! (Plus Liam Hemsworth topless)

Hopingforbabyd · 18/03/2019 18:44

Fab number again @twiglet2353 and hope you’re still resting up well. Me and hubby binge watched after life on Netflix, I don’t really like Ricky Gervais but it was really good and an easy watch and very funny.
Wishing you lots of luck @akmaan I’m sure you’ll meet your consultant soon but it does sound a bit strange, I guess all clinics are different though. Fingers crossed all goes well for you, when do you have your protocol plan appointment? It’s quite quick after that appointment, I had mine 4 weeks ago and AF has literally just started so I can start norethisterone in 3 weeks! I’ve never wished for AF to arrive so much 😄 but...she’s here! I’m so thrilled! (I will never type that again lol) 😅 x

Yey for AF arriving @Hopingforbabyd!

Thanks for the Netflix recommendations all of you. Two episodes in to After Life and have watched Isn't it Romantic too. Tempted to binge watch gossip girl again because it's a classic!

And I agree @akmaan, once things get started it all tends to go quite quick

mouse1234567 · 18/03/2019 20:40

Hi all,
I have been reading all your posts for a while and waiting till I had more details of my dates before I posted. I have endo and polycystic ovaries, have tried 3 rounds of IUI and now moving onto first IVF.

Start norethisterone this Thursday-slightly nervous but mostly just want to get started -feel like these last few months waiting have dragged so much. I’m sure you will all agree!? They gave me an estimated collection day of 19th April.

Now just trying my best to be healthy but I have such a sugar addiction!

Good luck everyone.

Hopingforbabyd · 18/03/2019 21:43

Hi mouse1234567 so lovely for you to join this thread 😊 you’re always welcome to join whichever stage you may be at on your journey - it’s so lovely to think that we’re all at different stages and I hope this thread carries on for many more ladies going through their treatments in the future.
How are you feeling?
I too have endo I really feel for you as I understand the physical and emotional pain it can bring. I have two lovely cysts on each ovary too 🙄 big fingers crossed they’re staying at bay for the meanwhile.
Are you on a short protocol? 19th April is not too far away at all!
The waiting is just the worst isn’t it. My AF has finally arrived this evening (honestly thought she was never going to turn up, I’ve never been so grateful to see her haha) so I can ring the clinic in the morning to commence treatment.
How are you feeling? X

Hi ladies I'm starting cycle number 5 at the start of April. Am I too late to join?

Hopingforbabyd · 18/03/2019 22:17

Of course you’re not too late @wearenotacodfish I’m due to start beginning of April too 😊 wishing you the best of luck!!

Hi all

Like Mouse I've been reading your posts but waiting for my dates before posting. AF arrived yesterday so I'm off to the clinic this morning to see my doctor to start my first round after 2.5 years of TTC. Feel nervous and excited.

Good luck everyone!

wearenotacodfish · 19/03/2019 07:28

Good luck this morning @Booksandstuff

Hopingforbabyd · 19/03/2019 08:10

Hi @booksandstuff 😊 welcome! Best of luck for this morning sending you lots of positive vibes xx

Hope you’re feeling ok @Twiglet2353.

Good luck @Booksandstuff, and a hello to @mouse1234567, @akmaan and @wearenotacodfish

Hope the rest of you are doing ok, too. I’m back for my first scan tomorrow after what will be 8 days of high dose Menopur and 5 days of fyremadel. Feeling a bit sore, but otherwise ok. Just hoping they can see some progress as it will all feel worth it then.

Chester6 · 19/03/2019 09:26

Welcome @mouse1234567, @akmaan and @wearenotacodfish! 😊

I have a quick question...I am on day 5 of Gonal F injections and day 2 of Cetrotide and I have a scan tomorrow but I’m wondering if I should be laying off the exercise at the moment or the opposite and keeping fit? I am quite tired (probably the drugs) and someone told me my ovaries will be growing and there is a risk of them twisting if you exercise too much. Is this true or nonsense? Thanks

Booksandstuff · 19/03/2019 11:23

Thanks everyone!

Started on 300 Gonal F.

Doctor said he thinks I might have PCOS judging by the scan today. I have had so many scans and tests over the last two years, I'm surprised no one picked up on it but the symptoms all match. Either way, first injection done. Back on Saturday for another blood test and scan.

@Chester6 I'm sure there are people here with more experience and knowledge than me, but my nurse said that exercising is fine. Maybe listen to your body, and if you're feeling bloated/tired don't go OTT on the exercise.

Ginandtonic31 · 19/03/2019 11:36

@Chester6 I did a few hitt workouts during stimming and then swam right up to EC. You will know how you feel. I couldn't feel my ovaries so felt fine. There is a risk of twisting if there big so if you feel that way just stick to gentle exercise.

Chester6 · 19/03/2019 11:38

Thanks so much @Booksandstuff and @Ginandtonic31. x

phreedam · 19/03/2019 17:06

@WhatWouldPennyDo

phreedam · 19/03/2019 17:16

@DaisyMay25 thanks hun, I'm looking forward to actually getting en route to starting my treatment lol
Hmm how's long protocol going for you?
They said appointments to get a meeting with nurse to discuss treatment plan has a waiting time for around 3 weeks! I'm hoping that's not the case... just keeping wasting more and more time.
Because of my low AMH I'm worried about having wasted too much time in investigations already Sad anyhoo onwards and upwards!!

phreedam · 19/03/2019 17:18

@Hopingforbabyd that made me laugh! Grin can totally see myself wishing for af lol!!
This is exciting! If all goes to plan and I get my protocol in the next couple of weeks, we could be cycle buddies SmileHalo

Wesstywoo · 19/03/2019 17:48

Good luck wìth your scan tomorrow @WhatWouldPennyDo - let us know how you get on xx

Hopingforbabyd · 19/03/2019 18:12

@phreedam I never thought I would love the witch so much 😂 aw that would be lovely! Best of luck to you with your plan. It moves quite quickly after that. I had my plan given 4 weeks ago and now here we are....about to start it all in 3 weeks 😳😁 x

WhatWouldPennyDo · 19/03/2019 18:41

Thanks @Wesstywoo! Quite fancy a calming glass of wine but not drinking until after Easter.

@Chester6 I am still doing some exercise (Pilates and cycling) as I enjoy it. Just going to keep active and listen to my body (that means listening to the lazy side of me sometimes, haha!)

DaisyMay25 · 19/03/2019 19:03

@phreedam long protocol isn't too bad, I'm not sure the difference tbh I know there's like one/two weeks difference. The I he took are really hurting now, I'm not sure how I'll cope for another two weeks
Hopefully they can get you in soon 🤞🏻

mouse1234567 · 19/03/2019 20:14

Pleased to hear your period has arrived @hopingforbabyd. I was relieved when mine arrived early so I could start my downreg cycle. I think I’m on short protocol but I am downregging so maybe not?!. I had a laparoscopy last August to remove an endometrioma so hopefully that won’t come back!! I’m feeling quite ready for it and mostly want to get stuck in-but then I freak out I might not get enough good eggs or whatever. Keep trying to tell myself I need to think of this as a journey with quite a few goes but it’s hard not to hope cycle 1 works isn’t it?!
