Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@Boogie20 I'm completely different to everyone else I think. I talk very open about my situation so everybody I work with knows what I'm going through. I understand not wanting to tell people though.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to tell your manager exactly what the appointments are for, I agree with @Hopingforbabyd call HR, they'll give you some advice for it that'll hopefully put your mind at ease.

Wesstywoo · 14/03/2019 17:10

@DaisyMay25 I haven't told a soul - the only person who knows is DH! And you ladies of course Wink

Twiglet2353 · 14/03/2019 17:34

Ohh I'm so sore today 😞. And I've come upstairs to lay in darkness after crying at the telly because the MPs were pissing me off for shouting all the time and just the Brexit ridiculousness in general.
My poor hubby literally must think I'm crazy this week 🤦‍♀️

DaisyMay25 · 14/03/2019 18:26

@Twiglet2353 oh no! I'm sorry you're having a bad day, it's all them lovely follicles!

organicapricot · 14/03/2019 19:41

Hi all, good luck everyone who has joined the chat and thank you for wishing me good luck earluer up! I'm on 3dpt and it's going so slowly! I am working though so it's just the evenings which are difficult and trying to stay off Google is hard!!

're work, I'm in HR and there are no rights to any time off for treatment/apts. Some companies do have an ivf policy tho so there may be some allowance there. If you are sick through the treatment then it's just usual sick leave process. Once you have had et though, you are classed as pregnant in discrimination law so do have more protection. I've told my boss who has been great and I've just worked my appointments around meetings etc which has been ok. I get that's not as easy for some tho. Id suggest speaking to your boss, I'm sure something can be agreed x

Hi
I’m in the beginning stage of IVF (tests) and I was wondering if someone could tell me what options are out there for medications. I understand there are ways to get them cheaper. I don’t know what I will need to take yet. Thanks all!!!

Chester6 · 14/03/2019 22:37

Hi there, I am new to the group and wanted to chat to people in the same boat if possible going through IVF :-)
I have been taking Norethisterone and start my injections tomorrow. Have done two unsuccessful cycles before (one fresh and one frozen) but when they didn’t work we decided to go private and have recently discovered I have higher than normal natural killer cells so our clinic (CARE London) are going to treat it with infusions and this will be my second fresh cycle. I feel quite appreheensive this time though, particularly of egg collection in a couple of weeks, and also a bit alone in the process (last time a friend and I were going through it together at similar stages which helped) so it’s really lovely to join a group like this. Smile

Twiglet2353 · 15/03/2019 06:24

Welcome @Chester6 @Cheekywitch79 🙂

Thund4rcat · 15/03/2019 09:31

@cheekywitch79 are you private or NHS? With NHS I bought a pre-pay certificate which is a one off payment that covers all medication for 3 months.

If you are private I read that ASDA sells IVF drugs on a non-profit basis so that might be worth you looking into.

Hopingforbabyd · 15/03/2019 10:07

@cheekywitch79 @chester6 welcome to the board ladies. Wishing you lots of luck with your cycles & hoping everything goes okay. It’s such a nice feeling to know we are not alone as it can feel like such a lonely process. Best of luck for starting stims tomorrow @chester6
@cheekywitch79 are you self funding this cycle?

Welcome @Cheekywitch79 and @Chester6

@Cheekywitch79 I'm not sure about medication, like other posters have said if you're on nhs get a prepaid card, I think different clinic advise different drugs so if you're self funding find out which they want you to have first, good luck with your tests

@Chester6 I wish you all the luck for this cycle! Are you starting stims tomorrow then?

Twiglet2353 · 15/03/2019 14:41

All set for EC on Monday. Buserelin trigger tomorrow.
Largest follicle is 20mm, think there was about 15 mature in total but they didn't actually say this time.
Lining has gone from 10.6mm on Wednesday to 8.7mm now though - they didn't seem to bothered but is there anything I should be doing to stop it reducing more?

Chester6 · 15/03/2019 15:22

Thanks so much @hopingforbabyd and @Twiglet2353. Yes self funded this time which isn’t great but so worth it if it works (and because we’ve found out about my natural killer cells it’s giving me hope that it will work this time and be worth it). We went for an Access package though as a bit of an insurance policy so we can try again if god forbid it doesn’t work again. I’m excited but much more nervous this time so I need to do some meditation this next few weeks I think. Yes first stims injection tonight. And you are right...so nice to have others in the same boat to go through it with.

@Thund4rcat I have done the ASDA medication this time round too as it’s private and although it didn’t save us a massive percentage, it was definitely a few hundred pounds less so made a difference. Great suggestion.😊

@Twiglet2353 sooo much luck for Monday. Will have everything crossed for you. I think that is the bit I am most nervous of although I don’t know why as when I had it done last time it was totally fine, didn’t have much pain at all after and it was over with quickly. Have they told you then about how many follicules you have/size etc? Maybe I should ask about it at my next scan. I don’t think I knew to ask last time.

Have lovely weekends all xx

Hopingforbabyd · 15/03/2019 16:03

Best of luck for Monday @twiglet2353 how have you felt through your injections?

OP posts:
Wesstywoo · 15/03/2019 17:10

Hi @Chester6 how do they test for natural killer cells if you don't mind me asking? I've only had one fresh round so far where they transferred a top grade hatching blast but it ended in a CP. Just about to start FET so I might be jumping ahead a bit and it may have been just one of those things but it is something I've wondered about since

Good luck for Monday @Twiglet2353!

Chester6 · 15/03/2019 17:55

Not at all @Twiglet2353 and sorry to hear that. For me it was a blood test done privately recently. I’m not sure if they do it on the NHS but it wasn’t offered to us and I think there are still mixed feelings on it as it’s all quite new. It’s very expensive (nearly a grand) and it gets sent off to Boston to be tested, but I was relieved when it came back with something, partly so it made the expense worthwhile and partly so we finally had answers as I have felt after both IVF failures and all the years of trying naturally that there was a reason my side why I couldn’t get pregnant despite nothing else being found. Of course I don’t know for sure that is the reason or answer but I’m really hoping the intralipid infusion (the treatment they offer) will give us success this time. It worked for a friend of a friend who had the same issue and she now has twins after her first treatment so I’m trying to think positively.

Twiglet2353 · 15/03/2019 18:51

Thanks @Wesstywoo - bricking it now knowing what's to come!

@Chester6 oh I'm nervous about it EC! Any tips??

@Hopingforbabyd No problems with injections, just uncomfy the past 2 days. Also been very picky about my food which is not like me, but think it's probably due to the constant bloated feeling.

Also got the lovely pessaries to start tomorrow 🙈

Hopingforbabyd · 15/03/2019 19:00

Bless you @twiglet2353 just keeping thinking of that sweet little babe you got this 💪🏼 What are the pessaries for Hun? X

OP posts:
Wesstywoo · 15/03/2019 19:10

Thanks for the info @Chester6 - I'm also self funded but might be good for me to look into if I did need any further fresh cycles. Fingers crossed for my FET first though, we have one little frostie from the first round!

Good luck with starting your stims tonight xx

Chester6 · 15/03/2019 19:16

Thanks so much xx

DaisyMay25 · 15/03/2019 19:17

Quick question, I'm in day four of my injections, I've had no issues the last three days but tonight after do the injection I bleed a little bit, I'm assuming it's nothing to worry about?

Chester6 · 15/03/2019 19:23

Twiglet2353 try not to worry (although that is so much easier said than done I know, and I know I will be the same nearer the time...in fact i’m nervous already with 2 weeks to go). It really is so straightforward though from memory and I was home within a couple of hours last time. All I can say is I built it up in my head so much so my hubby said the nurses said afterwards Id had the highest heart rate they had seen that day waiting for the sedation, but in truth I built it up and then it was so straightforward and I don’t even remember getting sleepy...one minute I was awake and the next I was waking up back in my cubicle with my husband there and it was all over. We just have to keep telling ourselves it will be soooo worth it when we are holding our babies in our arms, and then we can tell them just how much they were wanted and what we put ourselves through to have them. 😊 xx

Twiglet2353 · 15/03/2019 19:28

Were you under general @Chester6 or sedation? Just have sedation at my clinic and I think that's what makes me nervous because I don't know how much I'll be aware of.

Just done my last Bemfola and Fyremadel. Have another Fyremadel for the morning and then the trigger at 8.15pm tomorrow!

@Hopingforbabyd I think it's to keep the lining thick? I have to continue it every night until 12 weeks of pregnancy if cycle is successful x

DaisyMay25 · 15/03/2019 19:36

@Twiglet2353 good luck for Monday, I'm interested to know how it goes, my clinic is sedation only too so I'm nervous
