Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

Has anyone here had, or is planning to have, EC under local?

My clinic want to do it under sedation and won’t budge. I’d much prefer local. Partly because I hate sedation, but also because it would be much more practical for me as I wouldn’t need to find someone to drive me to the clinic at (I’m sure) the crack of dawn on a working day. I haven’t told anyone ab out undergoing IVF and don’t want to either, but there’s no hiding what’s happening with a clinic an hour’s drive away and a very obvious name!

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 00:43

@Sorka not done EC yet (hopefully not far off) but my clinic said from the start it would be under sedation, and from what I’ve heard of others experiences this is standard, but I couldn’t say for definite.

AliceAbsolum · 20/04/2019 07:08

Haha I hope neither of us bobs our pants through this process Grin

@Sorka What about a taxi? You're so brave, I want a general Hmm

Wesstywoo · 20/04/2019 07:50

@Sorka I do understand about not telling people - we haven't told a soul either! Could you get a cab? I had a mild sedative and was awake throughout the procedure but still wouldn't have been allowed to drive.

Getting some mild cramping this morning, no doubt due to the bucket load of progesterone I'm having to take each day! Confused

@Sorka I had mine under sedation, I was awake the whole time but oblivious (away with the fairies as my nurse said) I got the bus from the hospital to the train station but couldn't make the entire journey.
I have to echo other people about the taxi, but it might be pricey for an hours journey unfortunately.

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 09:12

Woo hoo can definitely see a line @DaisyMay25

DaisyMay25 · 20/04/2019 09:15

@2019isouryear test day is Thursday but I just can't help myself haha
RE the blood blob, try not to worry I had about a third of them do it and several bruised. But you're nailing it!! 👊🏻

Wesstywoo · 20/04/2019 09:19

I see a line!!! @DaisyMay25 Grin

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 09:23

@DaisyMay25 I don’t know how I will cope with the 2ww (🤞🏻I get that far). Thankyou not had another since and mentioned it to the nurse yesterday when she asked how the injections were going and she said not to worry. I didn’t know what to expect with my numbers but well chuffed with them and the clinic seemed pleased. On to EC next Grin although I am a bit nervous. Will u test again before Thurs.

DaisyMay25 · 20/04/2019 09:28

@2019isouryear 2ww are always awful! That's good then! Your numbers do look good, hopefully get lots of eggs! How're you feeling? Any bloating? Haha probably Monday but then that's it, just to see if it's darker then I'll leave it then a digital on Friday because it's nice to have it written

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 09:29

Have u gone back to work @DaisyMay25 I’m unsure how much time to take off, tempted to take it all

DaisyMay25 · 20/04/2019 09:32

@Hopingforbabyd I took three weeks holiday for this (ending up being three and a half) so I was off from a few days before EC and go back on the 1st May, mainly because my job stresses me out and I wanted to relax during this time with everything else going on but also mine and DHs birthday are in that time frame. I wouldn't have been able to go back to work for a couple of days after EC because of the bloating pain but most people go back the next day, I think it's personal preference.

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 10:10

@DaisyMay25 3 1/2 weeks sounds ideal. Definitely going to take a day after EC just unsure what to do afterwards. Thinking at least a week, but will see how I feel. Might go for 2 weeks. My manager is aware and has been really good.

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 10:27

@DaisyMay25 🤞🏻 for plenty of eggs. Still not feeling to bad, feeling bloated but nothing to uncomfortable. Good luck for next test it’s lovely to see positive results.

mouse1234567 · 20/04/2019 10:49

@DaisyMay25 that is a definite line-how exciting! Congrats! My friend tested 5 days after transfer and is now 8 weeks. Hope it keeps getting darker.

Nervously awaiting update call from embryologist this end -off to my aunty and uncles so will prob be a good distraction!

I have found all the ttc so hard with work. I was so lucky that my stimms fell in my easter holidays as I’m a teacher -I don’t know how I would have coped otherwise. For the two week wait tho I wonder if being distracted at work may be a good thing?

Brambles7 · 20/04/2019 14:55

@DaisyMay25 that definitely a line!!! that’s a sticky little bean you’ve got in there Congrats!

@mouse1234567 🤞 for a good call from the embryologist today. And for good distraction with your aunty and uncle.

Hopingforbabyd · 20/04/2019 15:01

@daisymay25 definitely see a line!! Looking good this is so exciting 😍 xx

Hi all-good news this end -just picked up a voicemail from the clinic. 14/17 embryos are still good strong-3 are developing slower than they would like so they have separated them to keep a closer eye on them-they said this is so be expected though. Update again on day 5. Thanks everyone for your support. Ended up drinking a fair bit of champagne at my aunty and uncle’s -I’m trying to make the most of a frozen transfer! Feels like I haven’t drunk in forever!

DaisyMay25 · 20/04/2019 15:15

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to the blood test on Thursday!

@mouse1234567 that's fantastic results so far! Hopefully those numbers keep up. Yes enjoy yourself!

Twiglet2353 · 20/04/2019 15:21

@DaisyMay25 wow congrats! This is turning out to be quite a lucky thread Thanks

Brambles7 · 20/04/2019 15:27

@mouse1234567 that’s great numbers for you! 🤞 for just as good an update on day 5. And yes definitely enjoy the fact that you can indulge yourself a little, you really deserve it!

AliceAbsolum · 20/04/2019 16:19

@DaisyMay25 Looking great! Very exciting :D

@mouse1234567 Totally amazing numbers, one of those is going to be your baby for sure.

Lucky thread this!!

@2019isouryear Glad your work is supportive. I'm going to take a week off after EC, partly to chill out around transfer and also to recovery. My work (NHS) has an IVF policy so I'm allowed paid time off for appointments, which is great. My manager is also happy for me to take 2 weeks off, but I don't want to be away for that long, I hate letting people down.

2019isouryear · 20/04/2019 17:05

They’re great numbers @mouse123457 and definitely time to relax and take some time to enjoy yourself.

@AliceAbsolum I’m not NHS but get 5 days family leave for ivf which I’ve used for a couple of 1/2 days and taking 2 for EC and 2 for ET and will add my own leave. Lucky that we can build flexi as well so have a few days.

🤞🏻 the luck of the thread continues for everyone.
