Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Thanks @mol5.
Would I need to wait until my review appointment (12 weeks away) for the prescription?
Hope all goes well for you this cycle x

Mol5 · 27/02/2019 11:25

Whats the review for in 12 weeks @HmBuddy, to analyse bloods?

I had an internal scan which showed cysts.
Then I had HSG to check for any Fallopian tube blockages and did 3 months/cycles of blood tests (day 21) as part of my PCOS analysis.

I went back after 3 months to review those blood results which had showed I was not ovulating, so then I got given a prescription for clomid as a result.

So maybe like that? X

HmBuddy · 27/02/2019 11:53

They said it is just the review appointment but I imagine to go over the results from the bloods. I just don't want to have to wait 12 weeks for the prescription.... I'm pretty irregular (can be almost 60 days apart) so 3 months to my appointment could really mean over 5 until I start the tablets

Kelly199 · 27/02/2019 12:12

Hi @Mol5 (sorry everyone for posting on this thread as not on clomid yet, but just looking for advice and think some may know)
I have an appt Friday with fertility specialist, I've been told by my gp most likely put me on clomid. Have had all other tests, only one haven't had is hsg. I'm assuming I'll need one before being out on any medication.
How long did you have to wait for the test from the consultation with fertility specialist to test?

Mol5 · 27/02/2019 12:51

Hi @kelly199 - only from personal experience having a HSG test was mandatory before I could get clomid.

Where I live, the funding rules were - scan, bloods confirmed no ovulation, HSG done, BMI under 30 and then you could get clomid.

Because basically clomid is a dangerous drug so they don't want to waste using it until they're certain its right for you and they wont give you an ovulation stimulant without ensuring there is no blockage first.

I think I got given instructions/the test info for a HSG immediately at my consultation, but due to irregular cycles (you must have the HSG performed on an exact day of the cycle) it took me several months to line it up with a day I could attend the hospital.

Basically, when the day comes (sorry I can't remember what day it is) you have to call the hospital/clinic and see if they can fit you in. At my clinic they only did it on Fridays so obviously timing my cycle days to a Friday I could get out of work was more difficult than I realised.

If you're lucky in timings you could get it done pretty quickly after the consultation.

x

@HmBuddy, I use Ovusense which is amazing in helping me tracking potential ovulation in irregular cycles. That might be worth looking in to for you too.

HmBuddy · 27/02/2019 13:23

Thanks for all the advice!
Hope this cycle goes really well for you xx

Kelly199 · 27/02/2019 14:25

Thanks so much for the info @Mol5 !! Really appreciate it!
Yes, had bloods and transvaginal scan - results showed pcos, that I don't ovulate and hormone ratio over 3.
I work for my mother in law so hopefully I wouldn't have missed the day I need in my cycle this month and can book soon after!! Thank you for your advice! X

Redk8 · 02/03/2019 07:51

Hi everyone how are you all getting on?? I’m on cd 13 and started dtd on the 25 and last night tmi!! But I’m confused some sites say every 2nd and others every day. I don’t think I’ve ovulated yet opk getting line is starting to show but not positive yet!
What have you all been advised..... cause I’m doing this without dr input worried I miss my window.
Positive note had definite pain in ovaries last night.....I think 🤦🏼‍♀️ K xxx

FrostedSnowdrops · 02/03/2019 14:52

Unless there is a known problem with sperm count, DTD every day in your fertile window.

Redk8 · 02/03/2019 20:59

@FrostedSnowdrops thanks for that, we will get to it 🤗

impatientmammy · 04/03/2019 16:41

Cd 9 and I'm shattered feel queezy and have a head ache. Guessing I have clomid to thank? This is my 3rd round but the first time I've had any symptoms I think. Also hi I'm new here x

Redk8 · 04/03/2019 18:10

@impatientmammy oh no poor you! I’ve had a few headaches but I’m having a lot of pain dtd!
Good luck!
I’m on cd15 and got positive opk yesterday 🤗

impatientmammy · 04/03/2019 18:41

Ahh fingers crossed for you @Redk8 wonder if the pains connected. Is this your first clomid cycle?
I've decided to take symptoms as a good sign as they must be doing something 🤷🏻‍♀️ I got pregnant on my first cycle but unfortunately it didn't stick its def a sign that it works for me though 🤞 x

Redk8 · 04/03/2019 20:05

@impatientmammy yes my first round but doing it without dr support as bought online 😱😱
Im delighted that I’ve ovulated but had 2 missed miscarriages last year so my egg quality is not god so hopefully this will help that.
Some websites say that it does.....
I’m taking supplements to thicken uterine walk to make it stick!
Kx

Redk8 · 04/03/2019 20:06

Wall not walk

Eleonore15 · 06/03/2019 11:33

Hi all,
Just came from first scan with Clomid - nothing. Eggs are small and will not have ovulation but have to do another scan this Friday. This is so difficult and frustrating. How you do it?

confused107 · 11/03/2019 11:11

Can I ask some advise please ladies? I thought AF was starting last night (sorry for TMI but a little bit there when I wiped) but today nothing, it's completely stopped. I'm supposed to take tablet 1 of clomid on day 2, would you take it today? Month 6 on clomid and it's still throwing something new at me every month!

Eleonor15 · 11/03/2019 11:55

@confused107 hi, i am on my first cycle with clomid, but i had the same thoughts as was not sure. You know yourself better, when is the proper bleeding. I would wait for a proper bleeding to take clomid. I had 6 days of spotting and there was blood when wiping but no proper bleeding. Sand it came on day 6 and then i took clomid on a second day.

confused107 · 12/03/2019 10:00

AF arrived this morning with a vengeance so back onto the clomid. This will be month 6 for us. Torn between disappointment that it hasn't worked for us, and relief that it's nearly over as I haven't enjoyed it

Debbie2901 · 27/03/2019 14:36

So I haven't been on for ages as I got pregnant after my first cycle but unfortunately we lost the baby at 9 weeks. I was told that my progesterone was too low and I hadn't ovulated but obviously I did as I got caught but wondering if this is what caused the miscarriage now I don't know where to go from here do I start another cycle or do I not not sure if I can put myself through it again but if I do where the hell do I start no af after the miscarriage as yet anyone else been through the same?

confused107 · 29/03/2019 16:31

Sorry @Debbie2901 I don't have Abby advise but I'm so sorry to hear your news. How utterly shit. Is there a nurse at the clinic or are you able to get in touch with whoever prescribed the clomid for advise?

Debbie2901 · 01/04/2019 16:17

@confused107 I've got an appointment with the consultant but not untill end of June so just have to let my body rest and recover x

Hoping1 · 04/04/2019 18:20

Well just been to hospital said it not working with help and it not working without been given 3 months to test obuvultion if nothing go in sooner for ivf and if obvulate 6 months we go in for ivf has this happened to anyone eles xx

HmBuddy · 25/04/2019 12:08

Hi all....
So I am really frustrated /annoyed /upset. I was supposed to have my review appointment at the end of May (and hopefully get the prescription for clomid), but I won't be seen now until at least November 😔
Has anyone any experience of going private? Trying to see if we could afford it at all
X
