Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Welcome. Ooo! Exciting! Are you being monitored by the NHS?!

I'm cycle day 5, last pill tonight. My ovaries hurt this cycle, which is weird. Have you had any side effects?

Jagzorx · 01/07/2018 20:44

Yes, took 50mg clomid a day for the first 5 days of the cycle and also taking metformin 1000mg once daily along with it. Had an ultrasound then on day 11 and womb lining of 9mm (over 7 is good i think) and have 2 follicles each ovary, one big one on each. I hated taking the clomid as it gave me hot flushes, nausea and headaches but I always had really bad side effects with the pill too so not surprised! xx

AliceScarlett · 01/07/2018 21:38

Wow! I'm not being monitored at all. NHS is such a postcode lottery!

Fingers crossed for you x

Sounds good jagzor! Does the big follicle on each mean you may release 2 eggs? They do warn increased chance of multiple births.... :D also it's great that you get scans! I will just be having blood tests once starting Clomid. Bit worried about the side effects.

Do you find the metformin helps? I've pcos too but haven't been given anything for it, all focus is on ovulation atm.

Jagzorx · 02/07/2018 07:45

@alice - thank you! I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I've done the monthly rollercoaster of hope and disappointment too many times and maybe now I'm being unnecessarily pessimistic... as for the postcode lottery, I know what you mean.

@tiny - yes it does. I have a 19mm follicle on one ovary and a 16mm one on the other. The nurse warned that if twins were an absolute no-no, not to try this month. We've decided we don't care. Honestly think its a bit soon to tell re: metformin, only been taking it about 2 weeks. I'll tell you this much for free though, the tablet is bloody massive. Feel like I'm a duck swallowing a grape without chewing. Boke. Try not to be too scared of the side effects of clomid. even at their worst it felt like a bad cold/virus level of discomfort. Very manageable.

tinyradish · 02/07/2018 13:09

Amazing - best of luck to you jagzor. Whether it's 2 or 1!

Oh no, that sounds horrible. You'd think they'd make them smaller & you could just take an extra tablet - surely most people would prefer that.

Thank you so much for the Clomid reassurance.

AliceScarlett · 04/07/2018 12:44

@jagzorx You in the 2ww now?

CD10 for me tomorrow, DH and I will start every other day for a week and hope for the best.

My ovaries have actually felt painful this cycle so I hope that's a good thing! I rang up my NHS dept to request a mid cycle scan and they said they didn't do one, so I asked for a private referral and she said only the consultant could do that but he is away for 2 weeks.....so maybe next cycle. I'm just worried about my lining, I have SUCH light periods. What is the point of an embryo if there is nowhere for it to implant. Pretty sure if my lining isn't great there are drugs for that. But I won't know until I get a scan. Luckily DH said we can dip into the savings. So that's good.

Jagzorx · 04/07/2018 13:51

@alice currently on day 16... not sure when exactly I ovulated but probably in 2ww I think. I'm in NI so unless the policies for scanning are different over here?

Also, sorry to be crass/personal but is anyone else really flipping sick of having sex? lol I've done it every day for the last 5 days and I feel like I should get some sort of reward. I JUST WANT A CUP OF TEA AND AN EARLY NIGHT 😂😂😂

tinyradish · 04/07/2018 14:35

How are you both pinpointing ovulation? Bbt? Or opk? Or both. Or neither! Will be starting the first round of Clomid this evening.

Yep I know that feeling - it completely wears you out. & I bloody love an early night too.

Jagzorx · 04/07/2018 15:34

I'm not using anything. Just trying regularly and I'll test at day 35 if i can hold out that long (who am i kidding!)
Had a really achy lower tummy last couple of days. Not sure if thats significant or not...

AliceScarlett · 04/07/2018 17:24

Totally will be fed up. We do it every other day (I thought that was the advice or isn't good for the sperm?) And that's enough! Though to be fair it is much worse when DH can't.... finish due to the pressure.

I'm not tracking, opks never work for me, nor bbt. I've got a 21 day blood test so that will tell me for sure.

Hey ladies! Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing. I started a massive fight with my husband over which tumble dryer to buy and then burst into tears. So clearly hormones are doing something weird. Or I could just be mental 😂

tinyradish · 08/07/2018 09:34

We've all been there Grin Sounds like something I'd do.

Most important question first - Did you get the right tumble dryer?

How's the tww going?

I'm CD6 & will take the last Clomid tablet today for this cycle. Its not been too bad at all! Nauseous today though Envy

Jagzorx · 09/07/2018 15:39

@tiny we ended up not getting any tumble dryer 😂 it was ridiculous. The 2ww is DRAGGING in. Currently cycle day 21 and already my fingers are itching towards the pregnancy test drawer. Absolutely distracted by all babies in work (work in healthcare). I'm really scared because this is the first cycle in over a year where i genuinely have my hopes up and I feel like they are going to be dashed in about a weeks time... How are you feeling? x

AliceScarlett · 09/07/2018 16:14

@tinyradish Glad you're not finding the side effects too bad :)

@Jagzorx I can really relate to that feeling of getting hopes up and worrying about them being dashed. Very difficult because you can't help it!
I just told myself that people are on it for 6 months for a reason and that the chances of it working first time would be small. That's the only way I can manage my expectations.
I hope the next week goes quickly for you Flowers

We are all spread out in terms of cycles, I'm CD14 and trying to get as much BDing in as possible. Quite tricky in this heat!! GrinBlush

Hi all,

I've just joined this site but hoping to join the support.

I'm 32 and just joining the fertility journey. I have PCOS and have recently had AMH bloods. Have a consultation in 2 weeks. Where I appreciate the practical advice. I think I am the sort of person that may struggle more emotionally so that advice is very much appreciated too.

Gosh it's hard even writing this. Who knew we'd be here..thank goodness we're warriors xx

Jagzorx · 10/07/2018 19:30

@alice I know exactly what you mean and that is the logical way to think, I'm just very impatient.
@angel welcome! What stage of things are you at? Is your consultation in 2 weeks with the fertility doctor or your own GP? I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes this whole thing feels a bit surreal and I still can't really believe it's all happening. Life can be a real jerk sometimes.

Jagzorx · 10/07/2018 19:35

Can I also just say I'm really enjoying meeting you all. No one in my day to day life is going through this as well so it's lovely having others to talk to who understand!

angel2028 · 10/07/2018 21:53

@Jagzorx thank you so much for your reply. We are going to our initial consultation with fertility clinic following the initial tests. I'm hopeful that a trial of clomid will be the suggested treatment but guess I have to wait and see.

Life can be a jerk 🙄

angel2028 · 10/07/2018 21:54

@Jagzorx how are you guys getting on? Xx

tinyradish · 11/07/2018 06:45

Jagzor, totally get not wanting to get your hopes up to much. You will know either way very soon! Hope the days fly past. I'm cd9 so just having sex every 2-3 days (as instructed by the fertility specialist) & hoping for ovulation really. The tww is the hardest part isn't it.

Hi angel :) hope your apt goes well & you get to try Clomid!

Good luck Alicescarlett sounds like you've done well with the bding at the right time.

I agree, it's such a lifesaver to have somewhere to talk about these things. Think you'd go mad if you kept it all inside, considering it's not the sort of thing you generally chat about - even to friends & family.

AliceScarlett · 11/07/2018 09:20

Welcome angel, hope your appt goes well.

Yes it's really good to have a place to chat, that's why I started the thread as most of them seem to be about IVF/IUI etc and I can't think about that ATM. Although saying that I did drop a few hints at DH that next year our holiday might cost twice as much as we could go and have IVF abroad. If Clomid doesn't work we get one funded cycle, so the chances are not exactly great.

I called the hospital again yesterday as no one got back to me about having a mid cycle scan, they said they might be able to sort out a private referral for next cycle... which is fine, it just feels like such a hard battle to get my lining checked just once. If I didn't have really light periods I wouldn't be worried, but I do.
I'm in the 2ww now, next Monday is 21 day Bloods and then a week after that it's BFP time Grin

Hi everyone, just started clomid today for days 2-6 100mg. How is everyone doing? Been ttc for 4 years now so hopefully this might give me the push I need. No problems to be had on my side just ‘unexplained infertility’. DP does have a slightly lower count but FS said it was nothing to worry about and hopefully clomid will give us a few more targets 🤞🏻X

angel2028 · 11/07/2018 10:06

@Mjlosinghope good luck x

angel2028 · 11/07/2018 10:10

@AliceScarlett
Thank you very much. It definitely helps to have a specific clomid thread. How long have you been taking for?

Sounds frustrating that you have to battle for liking check but it's good you will be able to get it done next cycle.
