Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

@Hummingbirdsarang congratulations! That’s great news

Was anyone’s periods heavier on clomid? I don’t have any pain but it’s quite a bit heavier than my periods were pre clomid. I’m not concerned because one of the issues they told me to watch out for was particularly light periods

confused107 · 29/01/2019 08:41

@Clarence58 mine are. My first cycle was especially heavy

FeeneeTTC · 29/01/2019 08:45

Hi everyone, I have been away from here for about five weeks so just been reading back and catching up, looks like lots of people have moved on in that time and we have some new joiners and bfps (congrats @Hummingbirdsarang !)

For background, im 33 and DH and I have been ttc for 2.5 yrs. I had to lose 3.5 stone to start treatment which I managed in 16 months and we we were due to start treatment last summer except I got pregnant naturally! But had a miscarriage at 7 weeks which was devestating.

I’m now in the 2ww of cycle 2. This cycle has been bizarre however. Cycle 1 was pretty standard aside from being 33 days long and I ovulated from both ovaries so they wanted to monitor me in c2. I was on holiday over new year (cd10-14) so they scanned me on cd8 and there was nothing, and again cd15 and cd18, where they said I’d ovulated. I was devestated to miss it whilst in holiday, we’d been told not to try whilst away because of the overstimulation worry. I also couldn’t believe it’d ovulated around cd13/14 when last time it was cd19. Anyway, I got really depressed for about a week, and kept chasing my progesterone result from cd18 which the hospital lost. When it finally appeared on cd26 I was told I hadn’t ovulated after all and the corpus luteum must have been from last cycle! This made me even more upset as we hadn’t dtd once in the intervening 8 days due to being so upset (we have been trying for some time and it’s wearing us down a bit now). Following a chat with my mum I called the hospital to find out what to do about cycle3, as we didn’t know when/whether I’d ovulated etc. A wonderful nurse got me in for another scan on cd33 to find out what had gone on, and amazingly, there was a huge follicle on the screen that looked like it had just ovulated (slightly grainy round the edge). So there is now a possibility I caught it! I’m back there this Thursday (cd42) to confirm ovulation via scan and bloods, but in the meantime I know I have as sore boobs have started.

I’m so pleased this hasn’t been a completely wasted cycle but also so confused that I appear to have ovulated around cd32/3! Should I talk to the nurse about whether I need to increase the dose? Could it just be a one off? It all seems a bit strange to say the least (although my reproductive system has always been particularly messed up!)

Sorry for the long story but I’d appreciate any advice on things to discuss with the nurse on Thursday.

Thank you!

A few people have had questions re clomid - just to answer those, I have had no symptoms at all and my periods have actually been lighter on it. If you’re nervous about taking it, please don’t be, it’s totally worth it for the chance to make a baby! X

FeeneeTTC · 29/01/2019 08:52

Good luck for your scan today @Debbie2901

@lostandnotfound sorry you’ve been feeling so bad. After saying above I have had no symptoms, i have been very teary which is quite unusual for me. I put it down to the process but it could be the meds. Take it easy, I would suggest trying to plan a couple of date nights where you don’t talk about the ttc stuff - maybe the cinema or swimming together or something? And although taking time off feels like a backward step, it will hopefully allow you to have time to just reconnect and enjoy time as a couple without the pressure of ttc.

Debbie2901 · 29/01/2019 09:14

It's so nice to have people going through the same thing on here, I also take citalptam for depression after going through a very messy divorce years ago and with having 2 children in that relationship things are still awful now so it's very stressful and maybe the reason for no periods for the last 18months. I'm keeping everything crossed for my scan today as I only have 6 months on clomid and no other treatments available to me on nhs as I already have 2 children from previous relationship so fingers crossed x

Debbie2901 · 29/01/2019 17:58

Ok so had my scan today and there only 1 follicle I'm guessing this is not a good sign? Although when I said oh only one she said that it was a very good size so not really sure what that means anyone else not had many follicles on their first cycle I'm thinking it hasn't really worked am I wrong?

Hummingbirdsarang · 29/01/2019 18:43

1 follicle is perfect. The NHS only want one. I had 4 on first cycle and they cancelled it. FYI I just found out this morning I am pregnant and I had 1 follicle.

Willowjasmine · 29/01/2019 19:27

@Hummingbirdsarang congratulations on your bfp and thank you for giving me hope! Hope you have a healthy pregnancy x

Debbie2901 · 29/01/2019 21:31

@Hummingbirdsarang oh my goodness you have just given me hope, I really thought it was a bad thing only having 1 I don't know why

Debbie2901 · 29/01/2019 21:31

@Hummingbirdsarang sorry I forgot to say congratulations xx

Debbie2901 · 30/01/2019 23:18

I'm on day 12 of my cycle has anyone had pressure like pain after having their follicle scan done or do people think this is ovulation pain? New to all this but feeling a lot of pressure on my ovary wouldn't say it's painful as such

Hoping1 · 31/01/2019 21:50

@Hummingbirdsarang congratulations nice to have good news fingers crossed for more xxx

confused107 · 01/02/2019 08:09

How's everyone doing? Happy Friday

I'm on day 21 and feeling more hopeful this cycle than ever (I know I'm setting myself up for a fall). Symptom spotting like mad so far I've had intermittent pain on my left side, extra CM, and I have a blocked nose and saw throat.

Think the clomid is more likely to make me insane than pregnant the way things are going!

Willowjasmine · 01/02/2019 08:24

Hi @confused107 I'm the same! On CD18 and been having extra cm for the last 3 days. Trying so hard not to read into it and get my hopes up but it's almost impossible!

confused107 · 01/02/2019 09:37

@Willowjasmine it's hard isn't it when the clomid makes you feel 'different' anyway. Are you getting day 21 bloods as it's your first cycle? Fingers crossed and sending baby dust your way

Clarence58 · 01/02/2019 15:49

Hi everyone. Nothing much to report here. I’m on cycle day 6 so taking my last clomid tablet tonight. Although my period was heavier than usual, it was still 5 days long

Off to London for a mini break and it’ll be over my fertile window so that’ll be a nice change. After 18 months of trying and focussing on when I might be fertile, it can sometimes take the spontaneity out of sex!? Especially when you both know there’s more of a specific reason why we are having sex if you know what I mean?

While it’s just the two of us and still have plenty of free money, we have been going on lots of holidays as a bit of a distraction and also to spend some nice time together

OrcinusOrca · 01/02/2019 15:55

Sounds lovely @Clarence58 I know what you mean too, I have started going for reflexology/massage because I enjoy it and I have the money so why not. I never would have done that six months ago!

CD7 here, last tablet last night. Had my first follicular scan yesterday too, apparently everything looks fine and I've got to go back next Friday for another one. I'm feeling weirdly optimistic today. Eek.

Willowjasmine · 01/02/2019 17:30

@confused107 it really messes with your head! Saying that the cm has stopped today so guess that's that theory out! I'm having my day 21 bloods on Monday. I had an Ultrasound this week though - not to check for follicles but to check my PCOS. But timing has it he said he could see one nice big one! Are you going to test early or wait to see if af arrives? Baby dust to you too xx

confused107 · 01/02/2019 17:59

@Willowjasmine that's great they could see a follicle and your getting bloods. I was monitored in my first cycle but as my 21days bloods were 96 they have just left me to it
AF is due next Friday- I'm going to try and wait to see if I'm late before I test. It else it's loads of BFNs and me convincing myself I'm just too early
Best of look with it all xx

Hoping1 · 05/02/2019 21:38

Has anyone got any info on what i can give my partner to improve his tests. He has had two test said he had plenty but they werent strong enough his (swimmers) he was told to go on muilt vitamins. Waiting on his second test resluts but i have been taken off clomid as i was sensitive to it and this months bloods show i ovulated on my own 88 they said that high and i obvulated dont really know what the 88 good means they dont really explain much do they so now my partner is really upset thinking it him so he wants to try anything that will help xxx

Hop90 · 05/02/2019 22:00

Hoping1 I bought my husband wellman conception , it improved his morphology . Hope this helps x

Laurenita · 06/02/2019 12:56

Confused107, snap, you sound like me! I’m 9 DPO, I’ve had what I hoped could be implantation pain 2 days ago, creamy cm and a hardcore runny nose. Fingers crossed 🤞 eh! Hoping for the best, I’m on my last cycle (3) of 50mg clomid so I went balls out and bought fertility gel along with a weekend away in a romantic castle hotel spa 😂😂😂 I’m officially out of ideas if this doesn’t work!

Laurenita · 06/02/2019 12:57

@confused107. Sorry, forgot to @ you 🙈⬆️

confused107 · 06/02/2019 13:13

@Laurenita I like your style!

I started acupuncture this month (which is disappointingly no where near as much fun as a massage) and brought pre-seed. My DH has been feeling really pressured this month so I've been trying to maintain 'spontaneity' but I think my bashing around and the opening of boxes in the bathroom gave the game away. It would be hilarious if the whole situation wasn't so desperate

New to the symptom list are an icky tummy and a headache. Which according to google are also AF symptoms. I'm on day 26 and torn between early testing and having a couple more days of blissful optimism

Good luck to everyone, it was great to get a bit of positive news on this thread and I'm looking forward to more x
