Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Hi @DawnK77, it's funny you say this. I'm also trying to loose weight ready for IVF (BMI around 26-27) and im uping my running and back on slimming world. Normally the weight comes off quickly at first for me when I do this diet, but I'm not really loosing anything. I googled and apparently weight gain isn't a common known side effect, but there is a lot of chat about it on various sites. It might just be bloating or water retention that are more common side effects. Who knows?

Hi I'm on cd 32 and no af, has anyone not ovulated and not had af consultant said I didn't ovulate as progesterone was 24 and that I may not have af told me to wait 2wks then do a test and if negative start northedine to induce one again anyone else had this?

DawnK77 · 19/02/2019 11:16

Hi @confused107
Same, I'm on low carb, it normally drops off me, this time ... Nope. Mine is 28 so 30 is the limit but the clinic have said to me I could do with a bit more room to play with incase I gain weight with the IVF. Will continue the diet and hope for the best!

Can I join? Just started my first round, on day 10 after end of period / day 14 and no sign of ovulation in ovulation tears but I have PCOS and really expect it to work first time right?

confused107 · 21/02/2019 18:09

@Hoping1 great news on your test results!

I'm definitely not equipped to advise, and things probably differ massively compared to area but we are in a similar situation I think and have been told that the next step is IVF for us

Best of luck with it all x

Debbie2901 · 22/02/2019 08:15

So last night after beening told I didn't ovulate on cycle 1 I got a bfp, I am still in shock as I have told myself it hadn't worked and so just not sure i quite believe it yet

confused107 · 22/02/2019 08:53

Absolutely amazing news @Debbie2901 massive congratulations. It's great to get done good news on here xx

Beenster · 22/02/2019 20:50

Congrats @debbie2901!
I hope we all get our bfp soon :)

Debbie2901 · 22/02/2019 21:03

Thanks everyone think I still won't believe it untill the scan

Clarence58 · 22/02/2019 21:34

congratulations @Debbie2901, great news!

Nothing really to report here. I’m on day 27 and I’m 99% sure my period is on its way (due on on Sunday). Iv done a few tests and all negative

Iv just spent a small fortune on a peloton spinning bike to try to get fit and lose weight. I find it so hard! I’m doing weight watchers and it comes off soooo slowly. I’m not a big exercise fan but I thought having it at home gives me no excuses. You live stream spinning classes or do one of the 8000 recorded classes using the screen on the front of the bike. My BMI is 34 so if I need IVF, I need to get it much lower

Willowjasmine · 23/02/2019 08:25

Congratulations @Debbie2901!!! Amazing news esp after they thought you didn't ovulate!

Clarence58 · 23/02/2019 18:40

Well I came on my period today....whilst in mothercare with my pregnant sister Sad. 2 cycles down, 4 to go

Redk8 · 24/02/2019 09:17

Hi can I please join you? I’ve started my first cycle and yesterday pm I had my 4th pill (cd 6)
I have to be honest I bought my pills online (much research of site) so I am hoping they are real.... I am 44 and have been through 2 failed Ivf’s and then I had my ds then we had 2 miscarriages.....
I will be 45 next month and have stopped regularly ovulating (we can’t afford to pay for any more ivf and to be honest I don’t think I could cope)
This is our last hope before we say enough is enough!
Any advice welcome! When should I start checking with ovulation tests??

Redk8 · 24/02/2019 09:28

Sorry to hear your news. Will you do another round?

Redk8 · 24/02/2019 09:45

@Clarence58 sorry! Good luck for next cycle 🤞🏻

confused107 · 24/02/2019 09:53

Sorry @Clarence58 it's just shit. Fingers crossed for next cycle

@Redk8 goodness sounds like you have had a tough time of it. Fingers crossed this works for you. We have given up trying to track ovulation and just DTD every second day from day 10 as this was what the clinic advised us to do, but lots of people do use the sticks

Clarence58 · 24/02/2019 10:50

I’m not sure whether to do OPKs or not. Getting the static smiley face/peak fertility was reassuring I suppose. But same as @confused107, we are mainly just making sure we have sex every other day from around day 10

Beenster · 24/02/2019 12:43

My Progesterone in cycle-1 of clomid was 28, which the doctor says is good. So she has asked me to continue on 50mg clomid. Got AF on Friday and starting cycle-2 of clomid today.
One more month of pains, headaches, expectations and disappointments :(
I get depressed every time in the 2ww.

Clarence58 · 24/02/2019 16:24

It’s really hard isn’t it. It feels like the longest two weeks and I always start testing too early. My husband works away so I’m always home alone over the 2ww which means I have even more time on my hands to think about it and symptom spot

@beenster what was your progesterone before clomid? Mine was 8 before, and 60 on the first month of 50mg so they just told me to continue with that and I won’t get any more monitoring now

Beenster · 24/02/2019 18:19

Hey @Clarence58!
Progesterone before clomid was 6.8. So quite a good leap from there on 50mg. You had a really good progesterone level! Best of luck 🍀
How long is your cycle duration and did it change with clomid? My cycle got 2 days shorter to 32 days but despite a good ovulation, I could feel the menstrual cramps like pain since CD25...

Clarence58 · 24/02/2019 18:46

Yeah it might have shortened it a bit. They tended to be 28/29 days but sometimes 30 days.

The first month on clomid was 28 days and this cycle was 27 days. So I’m hoping they stay like this and no shorter. My period was heavier than usual last month, but not painful. So I’ll see how things are this month

HmBuddy · 27/02/2019 09:44

Hi all.

Only new to the site. Have been ttc for about a year now. Had my first appointment at the fertility clinic yesterday and had my own thought confirmed.... Pcos.
Consultant has said I need to start Clomid and I got blood tests done but wasn't given a prescription.... Do I need to contact my gp for this?
I'm based in Northern Ireland in case that makes any difference.
Would really appreciate any advice 😊

Mol5 · 27/02/2019 11:00

Hi @HMBuddy! Welcome. You'll need to get the prescription from your consultant. I expect they'll review the results of your blood tests first then they'll give you clomid.
Certainly for me in England the GP can't prescribe clomid, only the specialist consultant.

I have just started my 4th cycle of clomid.
Good luck x

Mol5 · 27/02/2019 11:05

I am on CD1 of cyle #4 of clomid.

I have ovulated each month and DTD on ovulation day which confuses me even more because no glimmer of success..

However, we have another couple of cycles left then begin IVF in May (if my BMI is low enough and i'm nearly there).

Feeling a bit hopeless but here we go.
