Thanks danigrace that's so lovely.

I'm 6dpo today and my ovia app is telling me to test in 7 days which, yes, is Christmas Day. I was going to test early but having had a chemical before I'm scared of getting my hopes up then starting to bleed over Christmas. I'm used to seeing negative tests and I'm not really hopeful this month anyway as it's my first on Clomid, I just wish it all didn't fall over the festive week!

SLady · 18/12/2017 12:06

Ah bad timing confusion I'm the the same, mine is the week of my birthday which isn't the best. I'm hoping I'll be concentrating on just celebrating xmas and my birthday rather than obsessing over a BFP but we shall see

Hopeislost · 18/12/2017 12:09

Confusion - fingers crossed for your bfp.

I was really hoping for a Christmas miracle but it is day 22 and my temperatures are still below my coverline. I've got "day 21" blood tests and ultrasounds this week so at least the ball is rolling on getting some help.

HollyWollyDooDah · 18/12/2017 19:51

I have an issue
I need cd 14, 21, 25, 29 and 35 bloods doing
Had cd 14 today
21 is Xmas day
25 I'm at work
29 is 2nd Jan I think I'm at work
The two I'm at work doesn't matter as work can do them
But what do I do about Xmas day? The Friday before is too early and the weds is too late?

SoapyChoc · 19/12/2017 16:44

Can you speak to your clinic Holly and see what they recommend?

Best of luck for your bloods and ultrasound Hope

Nothing much to report from me, I am trying to resist POAS and upsetting myself. Have told myself to wait until Sunday and if no period test then. Hope everyone is enjoying the build up to Christmas.

HollyWollyDooDah · 21/12/2017 23:09

So have to have my 21 day on day 23 and then day 25 on day 25 and day 29 on day 29 - the phlebos are going to be sick of the sight of me!

Started my 5mg of folic acid today as well

What was the supplement we were discussing on the old thread? Does it help stimulate ovulation? X

ElizabethCatherine · 22/12/2017 22:42

Hi ladies!! Sorry just catching up! I find it so hard to keep up with this thread and the ivf thread and an Instagram haha!! Thinking about you all though!!
@Sunny1984 sorry to not answer your question when you asked! Salim is the main consultant at the wolfstan clinic he is very nice the only time I saw him was to put the emergency drain in my abdomen while in hospital. If you will be travelling from Essex just keep in mind you will need to come in at least 2 - 3 times a week for scans bloods and it's very busy there! It's a big clinic and I see one of the 5 consultants each time depending what day you go on it's not always one doctor. Let me know if you have any questions or feel free to pop me a DM on insta @healthycatcan I'm on there most xx
@SLady we have 2 embryos frozen 1 high quality and 1 low quality so have decided to transfer both back in January. I have a question for you! I swear my doctor said to take provera for 7 days to bring on a bleed like I'm 98% positive and now I am only doubting that because on my prescription tablets it says 14 days!!! Ehhh? I'm so co fused... and I got my bleed... so they told me today to start my injections but I was just going through my meds and saw on the box 14 days and now I'm freaking out!! You took provera right to bring on AF? How long did you have to take it for? I did 2 pills twice a day so 4 total

SLady · 22/12/2017 23:13

Hey @ElizabethCatherine, I've taken norethisterone a few times before to bring on a bleed. I have only ever taken it for 7 days and I took 1 tablet, 3 times a day so 3 in total a day. Ive never taken it for longer than 7 days. That's good you have 2 embies to transfer. Hope this next month goes really well for you and all the meds go well ready for your transfer

SoapyChoc · 27/12/2017 10:54

Morning all,

Did you all have a nice Christmas? I found it quite hard this year and when we got home I had a big sobbing crying fit in the car on the drive. I usually just sort of detach myself from things and don't get properly upset but I think Christmas just sort of rubs it in a bit. AF has started today so I guess some of that was hormonal as well.

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 27/12/2017 15:24

Sorry about AF soapy-I think a good cry is very cathartic sometimes. Christmas just seems to be a bit of a hard time when you're ttc-ing.
Test day for me was Christmas Day and I got a BFN so I needed to get my head together before I could enjoy the day. I'm now CD 29 and still no AF so not sure what my body is doing.

SoapyChoc · 27/12/2017 15:36

Thanks Confusion how have you found your first month on Clomid?

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 27/12/2017 16:05

Fine so far Soapy thank you for asking-just wish I knew how long my cycle is going to be. I'm supposed to be 15DPO today but now I'm wondering if I actually ovulated even though I had a dominant follicle on my scan.

SoapyChoc · 28/12/2017 09:31

I assume you weren't offered a blood test then Confusion?

Gem1990 · 28/12/2017 09:41

Hi all,
New to this thread.
Age - 27
Ttc. #1

I am currently under a gynaecologist waiting for results of bloods and my ultrasound as they suspect PCOS based on all my symptoms.
Me and my DH have been ttc for 4months (not long at all really especially as I’ve ovulated once in this time) - just wondering from your experience what the timings are to start treatment to help ttc once you got the diagnosis - my appt is in Feb but trying to bring it forward. Wanting to know the journey we have ahead of us for 2018 x

SoapyChoc · 28/12/2017 12:08

Hi Gem

I guess the timeframes would depend upon the results of the tests. E.g if they showed you weren't ovulating regularly you may be offered Clomid.
I went to the GP after 11 months of trying who arranged a scan but not bloods and wasn't very helpful tbh. I then saw someone else for results of scan who couldn't believe the bloods hadn't been done. I had bloods done and my prolactin was high so I had to visit endocrinologist before I could be referred to fertility clinic. There was a 3 month wait to be seen at endocrinology. So essentially by the time we went to the fertility clinic for the first time we had been trying for just over 18 months. At this apt they discussed Clomid but asked I lower my BMI to a certain number and was to come back in 3 months. Had I been the correct weight I would have had my Hycosy arranged and then started Clomid not long after that.

I guess the point of my long story is I don't know for me whether if I had gone after a shorter period of time they would have asked we try for longer before trying Clomid. I had ovulated the cycle I had the blood tests but they feel as I was having such long cycles I would probably not be ovulating more than a few times per year.

At my clinic if you are getting Clomid they will prescribe it there and then and you then start it on your next cycle so it could be quite quick if that's the suggestion.

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 28/12/2017 15:38

Hi Gem, welcome to the PCOS-ers! Hopefully you won't have too long a wait.

I didn't have a scan Soapy, which is annoying. My consultant didn't even suggest it. So I'm stuck playing the waiting game.

I've just read that you had raised prolactin-I did too and annoyingly it was a red herring for my PCOS symptoms. Double no period whammy!

SoapyChoc · 28/12/2017 16:46

Hi Confusion that's interesting about the prolactin, mine was high on 2 blood tests. Then when they tested it at hospital after the 3 month wait for the apt it was normal so that was the end of that!

That's annoying about not having the monitoring, hopefully either you will get a positive or AF soon so you at least aren't in limbo any more.

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 28/12/2017 18:00

Spotting has started, on to the next cycle. At least I know that I ovulated on the 100mg dose and that my cycle length is 30 days.

SoapyChoc · 29/12/2017 09:33

Sorry to hear spotting has started Confusion

Gem1990 · 29/12/2017 19:08

Thank you Soapy and Confusion, sounds like the gynaecologist is doing all the correct things then so fingers crossed! It’s really helpful knowing - I have also found out my local nhs don’t fund metformin or Clomid for fertility. So will see what the consultant says in Feb then go private for help.

Sorry to hear spotting has started for you Confusion, fingers and toes crossed for you on the next cycle x

rabbitsdontlayeggs · 29/12/2017 21:16

@Gem1990 you say your NHS area doesn't fund Metformin for fertility (which I find terrible seeing as it can have great results) but do they fund it for general PCOS management? The first time I took it it was for fertility (ending up in me conceiving DD within a few weeks - could have been luck, could have been the met, I'll never know) but I was put back on it a second time for general management for PCOS symptoms - namely weight and acne management. I went to see my GP for those and his view was to treat inside and out - Metformin to balance the inside and some topical skin treatment for out (which actually worked - hooray no spots for the first time ever as an adult except for during my pregnancy!).

As it turns out we've recently started TTC also, but we weren't when I was prescribed it and the GP doesn't know that (because I haven't seen him since I've got a repeat prescription).

Would your GP consider Metformin for you and be allowed to prescribe it for general PCOS management? Might be worth a shot. You can't help it if a side effect is the potential for increased ovulation, can you? Wink

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 30/12/2017 09:19

Gem-I went private for my treatment and got prescriptions for both metformin and a few years later, Clomid. I now get them from my GP no problem so maybe that's something you can do once you've been seen.

Gem1990 · 30/12/2017 16:04

Thanks both, we are waiting for my appointment with the consultant in Feb. I spoke with my GP the other day and he told me they fund no drugs for fertility regardless if it’s due to PCOS. Which is completely rubbish! Will try to get them to give me metformin for the management but I don’t feel hopeful.
Luckily the consultant I am seeing is at a private hosp paid for by the nhs so we are hoping I may get a bit better treatment 😀 fingers crossed x

Pickle0 · 03/01/2018 21:41

HI I am new here so just jumping in :) TTC #1.

I stopped taking the pill December 2014, we took a relaxed approach to TTC - if it happens, it happens... but it didn't. Scince stopping the pill my periods were irregular and as time went past months went by without having a period at all.

Fast forward to more recently, I had a period April 2017 then nothing until August 2017 and nothing scince then. After lots of blood tests, scans and back and forth to the DR scince the beginning of 2017, I was told on day 21 blood tests and a few after that that my progesterone was less than 2 which would mean I hadn't ovulated, and I also went for a transvaginal scan... it was confirmed that I have PCOS. In October 2017 dr suggested trying metformin, so I was happy to try and excited to get started.

2 weeks into taking the tablets I had heard everyones success stories and felt positive, some people saying it helped regulate their periods and others saying they were pregnant before they even had a chance to have their period!!

Here I am 13 weeks in to taking the tablets and still no period. I don't want to come across as impatient or ungrateful - the DR told me to try them for 6 months and if no luck to go back with a view of having my partner tested and perhaps being referred... I want to go back to the DR now, as it's not working and I have a feeling it's not going to.

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 04/01/2018 12:14

Hi Pickle

I'd say give the metformin another few months to see if it works-what dose are you taking?

I've been on 1500mg a day for the past 4 years and although it did help me lose some weight, it didn't make my periods start and I needed further treatment to help me ovulate.

Unfortunately a lot of these things are just a waiting game, although I know that's not always an easy thing to do! Did the doc suggest any possible treatment if the metformin isn't successful?
